Departs at 9am from Emu Point Boat pens for 4 hours of wild life history and fun. This is a sheltered water cruise with no open sea. We cross to Green Island which was Western Australia’s first vegetable garden and is now home to one of only four Pelican breeding grounds in Western Australia. Then cross Oyster Harbour to the Kalgan River. Seen regularly are Pelicans Eagles Hawks and a wide range of other bird life. You are served Tea Coffee and a hot savoury Damper on the banks of the Kalgan and you even get the chance to taste some local products including natural raw honey, whilst listening to a live and humorous commentary.  Returning across the harbour to the Boat Pens at 1.00 p.m. Oh yes didi I mention it is FUN?

You can catch sight of the Green Island, Western Australia's first vegetable garden and now categorized as home to one of only four Pelican breeding grounds in Western Australia. Try spotting Pelicans, Eagles Hawks, and other bird life. You will also be able to taste some of the local products whilst listening to the live and entertaining commentary.   You will be cruising on board a four sheltered water award winning cruise that departs everyday. The boat also has an on board toilet facility. Albany is the southernmost town lies on the northern shore of Princess Royal Harbour. Albany is famous as the Western Australia's First settlement and home to the ANZAC Centre. Today, Albany is recognised as the most scenic coastline in Australia.  Kalgan Riverboat cruises operate in the water of Kalgan River. Jsck was very informative about the Kalgan River and the wildlife. We booked a week in advance. We picked the perfect day to go in October as it reached 26 degrees in the arvo. Captain Jack was very entertaining with his own poems, talk of his family and telling his story about his beloved Pelican Perch who he hand reared until able to let it go. Perch the Pelican was very photogenic. We were able to see Osprey nests very clearly and Captain fed the Osprey as he flew by. We were lucky enough to taste his Mum's homemade Damper bread and enjoyed fresh honey from his Bee farm. If we had one criticism and it is very minor it would be nice to have an hour to ourselves on the boat without any commentary so we could chat to the people we met from all over the world. Just a tip, remember to bring warm clothing or a warm fleece or jumper because at 9am in Albany it's very chilly out on the water and you will feel it. Best to go prepared and bring some water. The river's estuary is home to an abundance of wildlife, including a large population of birds. It is also known for great fishing. Watch through the boat's glass hull for the giant spotted black-and-white eagle ray -- a cousin of the manta ray -- which grows up to 17 feet in length and weigh more than 500 pounds.
