PUTRAJAYA, August 14 – The Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nizran bin Noordin as its new Director General, effective from 10 July 2023. With a remarkable career spanning over 23 years, Nizran brings a wealth of experience in driving transformative growth across various sectors. His expertise ranges from working in a diversified conglomerate to investment banking, entrepreneurship in the technology industry, state government administration, and leadership in a public-listed company.

Previously serving as the Group CEO/Executive Director of Majuperak Holdings Berhad, a public-listed company under the control of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak, Nizran contributed to the company’s success in property development, facilities management, and renewable energy businesses. Given Nizran’s extensive corporate and business background, he has been entrusted with leading ITC to new heights through transformative initiatives that capitalize on the booming Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality industry.

Projections indicate that this sector will be worth USD225 billion globally by 2028. Nizran’s responsibilities also include assisting the Minister and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture in developing Malaysia as a prominent Umrah hub. Reflecting on his appointment, Nizran expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating, “Since its establishment in 2009, the Islamic Tourism Centre has made significant strides in formulating comprehensive standards and raising awareness about the potential of Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality.

I am honored to lead ITC into its next phase of growth and build upon this legacy to position Malaysia as a global hub for Islamic Tourism and Umrah.” Nizran acknowledged the current post-COVID recovery phase in the global tourism industry and emphasized his commitment to collaboration with local and international industry players. He aims to unlock new opportunities through innovative thinking and inspiring ideas.

By working together, the goal is to cultivate a more inclusive and welcoming environment for Muslim-friendly tourists while fostering a robust and sustainable tourism economy that benefits the industry, the people, and society at large. Nizran holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom, specializing in Accounting and Finance. His educational background further enhances his expertise in leading ITC towards achieving its vision of becoming a global leader in Islamic Tourism.

Nizran Noordin is the new DG of Islamic Tourism Centre

Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) is delighted to announce the appointment of Nizran Noordin as its new Director-General, effective July 10, 2023. With over 23 years of experience driving transformational growth, Nizran’s extensive background includes working for a diversified Malaysian conglomerate, a career in investment banking, entrepreneurial experience in the technology space, state government administration and leading a public-listed company.

Nizran was formerly the Group CEO/Executive Director of Majuperak Holdings Berhad, a public-listed company controlled by Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak which is involved in property development, facilities management, and renewable energy business.

PUTRAJAYA, 17 JULY 2023: Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) is delighted to announce the appointment of Nizran bin Noordin as its new Director General effective 10 July 2023. With over 23 years of experience in driving transformational growth, Nizran's extensive background includes working for a Malaysian diversified conglomerate, a career in investment banking, entrepreneurial experience in the technology space, state government administration and leading a public-listed company.

Nizran was formerly the Group CEO/Executive Director of Majuperak Holdings Berhad, a public-listed company controlled by Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak which is involved in property development, facilities management, and renewable energy business.

With Nizran’s extensive corporate and business background, he has been entrusted to lead ITC to greater heights through transformational initiatives that capitalise on Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality, which is expected to be worth USD225 billion globally by 2028. This includes assisting the Minister and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture in developing Malaysia as an Umrah hub.

“Since Islamic Tourism Centre was established in 2009, my predecessors have not only formulated a comprehensive standards blueprint but also promoted awareness for the potential of Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality. I am happy to be appointed to lead ITC into its next phase of growth and build upon this legacy to position Malaysia as an Islamic Tourism and Umrah hub of the world,” he said.

 “Now is an exciting time for ITC with the global tourism industry going through a post-COVID recovery phase. I look forward to harmonising our efforts with the local and international industry players and unlock more opportunities through innovative thinking and inspiring ideas. Together, we can nurture a more welcoming Muslim-friendly space for tourists, while creating a robust and sustainable tourism economy that benefits not only the industry players, but the rakyat and all levels of society.”

 Nizran holds a Bachelor of Arts with an honours degree from Lancaster University, United Kingdom, majoring in Accounting and Finance.

DATO’ DR. AMMAR DILANTIK KETUA PENGARAH TOURISM MALAYSIA

Dato’ Dr. Ammar Abd. Ghapar, Ketua Pengarah Tourism Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA, 14 April – Lembaga Penggalakan Pelancongan Malaysia (Tourism Malaysia) mengumumkan pelantikan YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Ammar Abd. Ghapar sebagai Ketua Pengarah Tourism Malaysia yang baharu berkuat kuasa 12 April 2023.

Menteri Pelancongan, Seni dan Budaya, YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing telah bersetuju melantik Dato’ Dr. Ammar secara rasmi bagi menggantikan Dato’ Hj. Zainuddin Abdul Wahab yang bersara wajib pada 10 April 2023.

Berkelulusan Ijazah Doktor Falsafah (PhD) dalam pengajian Hotel dan Pengurusan Pelancongan serta Sarjana Pentadbiran Perniagaan (MBA) daripada Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Dato’ Dr. Ammar sebelum ini merupakan Pengarah Kanan Bahagian Promosi Antarabangsa (Amerika, Eropah dan Oceania).

Beliau yang telah berkhidmat selama 35 tahun dalam perkhidmatan awam, pernah diberikan kepercayaan untuk menggalas tugas sebagai Pengarah Kanan Pengurusan selain menerajui Bahagian Perancangan Strategik serta Bahagian Domestik & Acara Tourism Malaysia.

Selain pernah dilantik sebagai Pengarah Bahagian Kewangan, beliau turut menjawat jawatan Pengarah Luar Negeri di Osaka dan Moscow, masing-masing pada tahun 1999 dan 2008 serta Pengarah Negeri Tourism Malaysia Kedah/Perlis pada tahun 2005.

Pada tahun 2021, Dato’ Dr. Ammar mengetuai Sekretariat Pasukan Petugas Gelembung Perjalanan bagi memacu usaha pemulihan industri pelancongan yang terkesan akibat pandemik COVID-19. Beliau juga merupakan Profesor Adjung di Fakulti Hotel dan Pengurusan Pelancongan, UiTM sehingga kini.
