Tour Itinerary: King Island Escape

A 9.00 am departure from Moorabbin Airport to King Island will get you a fantastic view of the heads of Port Phillip Bay as you fly across Bass Strait.

Your 4WD will be waiting to take you on your island exploration. Head north to its furthest point, Cape Wickham, where the tallest lighthouse in the southern hemisphere stands. Nearby are Cape Wickham Golf Links, rated as one of the top links courses in the world. Before heading to Grassy, visit the unique Kelp Craft and Penny's Lagoon.

Cap off the day with a fine dining experience at the incredible Wild Harvest Restaurant.

2 nights : King Island Wilderness Retreat

Your day starts with the 4WD Hidden Southern Experience, where you'll discover bays and coves not generally seen by visitors, traversing private property and sometimes going off-road.

Get your camera out for the dramatic Seal Rocks. Visit the 7,000-year-old Calcified Forest, where a short walk will work up an appetite for a white tablecloth paddock-to-plate lunch.

Set the rest of the afternoon to relax mode, with visits to more local sites.

Later, Wild Harvest Restaurant will delight you with their signature five-course degustation with matching wines.

Head to the picturesque hamlet of Naracoopa, then to the island's western side with a stop at the kelp factory. Continue to British Admiral Beach with its tragic shipwreck history, the local museum, and then finish with cheeses from the famous King Island Dairy.

Late afternoon, take a stunning scenic flight over the 12 Apostles en route to Moorabbin, arriving in the early evening. This concludes a most picturesque and delicious long weekend on King Island.

You don't have to worry about any part of your King Island holiday. Every group is different with with special interests & needs. It's our job to give you choice & an unforgettable time on King Island. King Island is an island in Bass Strait - & sometimes we may have to change something.

All you have to do is pack your bags, then our trusty driver will pickup your group and get you to your flight. We also make sure you get home after your holiday! We will meet  you at King Island Airport & introduce you to everyone.

Your group package will have been designed to suit your group's interests & tastes. As a guide most package deals include all transfers, flights, bus transport, accommodation, meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner), morning & afternoon tea. Flinders Island

Flinders covers four groups of Bass Strait islands off the north-eastern tip of Tasmania: the Furneaux, Kent, Hogan and Curtis groups. Of the more than 60 islands only three have permanent residents: Flinders Island, Cape Barren Island and Clarke Island. Flinders Island has the largest population.

The three main population centres on Flinders Island are Whitemark, Lady Barron and Killiecrankie. Whitemark is the main residential and business centre.

Flinders Island is a narrow island, 75 kilometres long and 40 kilometres wide. The Darling Ranges run down the centre. The total land area of Flinders Island is 1,333 square kilometres. It has 73 kilometres of sealed roads and 309 kilometres of gravel roads.

King Island

King Island guards the western entrance to Bass Strait and is the largest island in the Hunter Group. Only 64 kilometres long and 27 kilometres across at its widest point, King Island's beautiful beaches, rocky coastline and excellent produce more than compensate for its small size.

King Island is perhaps best known for its amazing dairy and cheese in particular! Oh, the cheese - and of course King Island beef! Kelp and crayfish are also valuable exports. More recently with the opening of Cape Wickham and Ocean Dunes Golf Courses the island is a mecca for golfers wanting to play on some of the most scenic and challenging courses in the world!

Time to explore, walks of king island, king island maritime trail.

The King Island Maritime Trail was opened in 2001 and pays tribute to King Island’s long shipping history. You will find interpretive signage close to the sites of many of the most notable wrecks around our shores. Trail brochures are available on your arrival at the airport and from the Visitor Information Centre.

Calcified Forest

On King Island, the 7000 year old remains of a Calcified Forest is made up of hundreds of strange shaped limestone features. They formed when calcium carbonate adhered to the deep roots of coastal vegetation, and have been exposed when the surrounding sand has blown away.

This easy return walk is about 1.3km long, with the viewing platform over the Calcified Forest at the half-way point. Be sure to take a camera to capture these amazing formations.

Serving up one of the most dramatic views on the island, Seal Rocks is a must for sweeping views across the wild ocean. Though there are no seals as the name suggests, it's the perfect place to appreciate nature and the beautiful, rugged surroundings. Nearby you can take the Copperhead Walk along the rugged cliffs and see the remarkable remains of the 7000-year-old Calcified Forest.

While there are many fantastic tracks used by those collecting kelp on King Island, the gravel Kelp Track in Currie offers the perfect starting point for your exploring. The track starts at the boathouse (also known as the Restaurant with No Food) in Currie Harbour and follows the coastline for 3km (roughly) until the Netherby wreck site.

the golf course meanders through towering dunes and along the beach, where the roar of the ocean and a salty breeze embraces golfers, plotting their way around one of the world’s most natural golf courses. one of the great features of the course is the variability in playing conditions depending on the time of day you are playing the course. the mornings tend to offer windless playing experiences with often crisp cloudless days whereas in the afternoon the wind tends to pick up and provides challenges on many of the closing holes.

Ocean Dunes:

Rolling dunes and unsurpassed views along 2km of coastal frontage. Six holes adjacent to Southern Ocean with signature 4th and 10th par 3’s heroic one shot holes playing over the surging water. Multiple tee blocks for players of all standards, smooth firm bent grass greens and fine fescue tees and fairways. McDonald’s working to roll out $5 meal deal, report says

(Gray News) McDonald’s is considering adding a $5 meal deal to its menu, according to a report from Bloomberg .

The fast-food chain restaurant is looking to bring back customers after raising the cost of meals due to inflation. The affordable meal could include a choice of either a McChicken, a McDouble or four-piece chicken nuggets with fries and a drink.

According to the publication , McDonald’s is still in talks with franchise owners about introducing the meal. This discussion comes just weeks after corporate executives reported slower growth in foot traffic

McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said during an April 30 earnings call that it’s ‘imperative’ that they keep affordability at the forefront for the customers.

It’s not immediately clear what locations will roll out the $5 meal.
