Located between Cannes and Juan les Pins, the seaside destination Golfe Juan is often less visited than its neighbors! However, for those not looking for a festive atmosphere but rather a familial one, Golfe Juan is and its beautiful sand beaches is the place to visit!

The beaches of Golfe Juan extend from one side of the harbor to the other, downtown. We find several nice restaurants in the summer. The sea theatre Jean Marais (open-air) is a interesting option for the summer. The train station SNCF is located nearby and you can easily hop around the French Riviera without worrying about traffic in the summer.

The beaches of Juan les Pins are just a few kilometers from here. You can also enjoy the festive atmosphere. Cannes is also easily accessible by car or train (recommended in the summer because parking is difficult). From Golfe Juan, we can also visit the Iles de Lérins. There are boat shuttles.

When Christopher Columbus arrived on this Caribbean island on his second voyage in 1493, he named the island “San Juan” (St. John) and the large, protected port on its north shore “Puerto Rico” or “rich port.” Somehow, over the intervening centuries, the names got switched around.

No matter. Puerto Rico, the island, offers visitors a rich selection of destinations, activities and events to explore on an island that can be traversed by car in less than a day. It is an island ringed with lovely, palm-bedecked beaches, pretty coves and modern seaside resorts. The Cordillera Centrale, or central mountains, runs like a spine across the middle of Puerto Rico, providing some cooler upland vistas, delicious coffee plantations, karst limestone outcroppings and beautiful hiking trails. On the eastern side of the island, the El Yunque National Forest is known as “the lungs of the Caribbean,” as this tall mountainous range scrapes the bottoms off passing clouds and drenches the forest floor with hundreds of inches of rainfall annually.

As far as cities go, San Juan is one of the most exciting metropolises in the Caribbean. With one foot firmly planted in the historic past, San Juan’s Old City cobblestoned streets are made for wandering. Historic Colonial buildings and the old fort on the rocky oceanfront speak of the Spanish past. But San Juan is also the essence of a modern city, with sleek new hotels, fabulous shopping, and wonderful restaurants and nightspots to enjoy.

And San Juan is not the only city on the island. The old southern town of Ponce is nearly as historic as San Juan, just quieter and less crowded. Smaller towns like Fajardo, Rincon, Mayaguez and others are all fun to explore for an hour or two, or even longer. And the popular islands of Vieques and Culebra offer more of the laid-back Caribbean island vibe than is often found on the bustling main island.

Puerto Rico is a sportsman’s dream destination. There are about a dozen fine golf courses on the island, watersports from surfing to paddleboarding, hiking in the rainforests and mountains and cave exploring in the karst regions. And Puerto Rico is filled with cultural events and activities, including music festivals, food events and concerts.

All in all, the rich port has a wealth of experiences to offer today’s traveler.

Long Beach: View the annual fireworks show off the Queen Mary from Ocean Blvd. and the downtown shoreline. If you want to go onto the Queen, that’ll cost you $55. Note that the city’s main fireworks show held on July 3 has been canceled this year.

Honeymoon Beach is so unique and picturesque because it is fringed with large coral reefs on either side. This protects the area and provides a stable home to a variety of wild and marine life.

With calm waves lapping lazily up onto the beach, it is the perfect spot to swim, relax, and to bask in the astounding beauty of the Caribbean.

SHUTTLE TO HONEYMOON:

While Caneel Bay Resort is closed and undergoing repairs, access by walking through the resort is no longer permitted.

Instead, the golf cart service is in place while the resort is under construction. Our golf cart shuttle departs from the entrance of Caneel Bay and arrive at the iconic Honeymoon Beach in chauffered style.

RENTALS, FOOD, AND OTHER ACTIVITIES:

At Honeymoon Beach, you can choose to rent watersport equipment from Virgin Islands EcoTours Watersport Center.

We rent kayaks, SUPs, relaxing pool floats, snorkel gear, lounge chairs, and lockers. Our facilities also have hammocks, picnic tables, restrooms, dressing rooms, and an outdoor shower.

The Honeymoon Hut sells t-shirts, sodas, water, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, sandals, and other items.

Honeymoon Beach is also home to Bikinis on the Beach Bar & Grill. It is the only beachside dining on St. John and serves freshly grilled hot dogs, cheeseburger and salmon burgers, flavorful wraps, refreshing frozen daiquiris, cold beer, and yummy sodas!

*Food, beverages, and watersports equipment are available for purchase and are not included in the price of the boat shuttle.
