Sean Paul will return to Hull for his upcoming tour on Tuesday, 08 August.

International superstar,  Sean Paul, is set to bring his own special brand of Jamaican sunshine back to British shores this summer. He will hit Hull and Brighton for two live Arena shows in between a string of festival dates.  Sean Paul always brings a sensational show that is hotter than the summer, and this summer he will make a pit stop at each end of England to see his legions of fans. He aims to show some extra special love to Hull and Brighton, as the cities were not included in his eight date ‘Scorcha’ UK tour last summer, which promoted his 8th studio album of the same name.  The eight date UK tour last August was his first in the UK in over three years, following a 2019 UK tour, which also saw Sean headline the John Peel stage at Glastonbury Festival. Sean Paul’s 8th studio album ‘Scorcha’ was released in May 2022, and saw the much-loved, multi award-winning, chart-topping star bring his unique, genre-spanning music and showstopping live spectacle to his enormous UK fanbase. Interview: Sean Paul on his upcoming UK tour dates

Sean Paul first sent shockwaves around the world with the release of his 2002 album Dutty Rock.  The record, featuring the singles Gimme the Light , Get Busy , Like Glue and I’m Still in Love with You made the Jamaican one of the biggest artists on the planet.

17 years later and Sean Paul’s ability to create a hit record has not deteriorated.

The musician has enjoyed a raft of hit singles and has become a go-to voice for other artists who are looking for someone to give their track the kind of unique sound that only the Jamaican-born singer and rapper can provide.

Pop stars who have turned to Sean Paul to provide his services include The Saturdays, Little Mix, Clean Bandit and Sia, racking up billions of streams with tracks such as What About Us , Hair ,  Rockabye and Cheap Thrills. 

Other artists who have collaborated with the musician include Dua Lipa, Sigala, Major Lazer, Meghan Trainor, Wiley and J Balvin, who features on Paul’s most recent release Contra La Pared which is just starting to hit the airwaves.

Sean Paul returns to the UK this spring, bringing his infectious tunes and personality to arenas around the country. Ahead of the shows, we caught up with the star to discuss what fans can expect and why he has so much love for the UK.

How much are you looking forward to your upcoming UK tour? 

The UK fans are always so amped, the energy they throw at me whenever I tour there is incredible! Now that I have three new tunes on fire over there I’m really looking forward to feeling that crowd reaction. 

What’s one song in your set that you really look forward to performing at the moment? 

(Laughs) All of them! But especially Shot & Wine and Boasty, as those are UK favourites right now. Also, my new single C ontra La Pared with J Balvin.

Apart from playing  massive  shows, what’s your favourite thing about coming to the UK? 

I have family over there so it’s always great to catch up and see how everyone is doing. The weather is usually warm in May, so I love that. It has all the Brits in a good mood! 

You’ve collaborated with loads of different artists. Who’s someone you’ve never worked with that you’d love to? 

I always say the same thing when people ask me this question…Alicia Keys… I think she must’ve heard this by now! 

What’s one thing from home that you have to bring on tour with you? 

My drum machine. I’m producing now for my Dutty Rock Productions label so every spare moment I get is spent with headphones on, working on beats and my riddims.

Do you have any pre-gig rituals? 

I do but they’re secret so I’m not telling you! Nah, I just warm my voice and body. If you’ve ever been to my shows you know they are a workout. You gotta be prepared!

You’ve worked with some amazing UK artists like Dua   Lipa , Wiley,  Stefflon  Don, Little Mix, Clean Bandit and loads more. Where  does that love of British music come from? 

I think it’s because of the Jamaican connection with the UK going all the way back to Bob Marley and beyond. I feel like we speak the same musical language and can find common ground quite easily. I grew up with my mom always playing The Beatles at home so maybe that’s a part of it too.

We love your new track with J  Balvin . How did that collaboration come about? 

It came through the producer actually. His name is Tainy. He works on a lot of Latin hits and he heard what I did on the tune and was like, let’s hit up Balvin for this! I’ve wanted to collaborate with him for a while so this was perfect.

W hat can fans coming to your upcoming shows  expect ? 

An energy-filled show. I’m bringing my band and my dancers so expect lots of dancing and hits, plus a few surprises!

MADE Festival has announced an explosive line-up of international acts for this year. Now in its ninth year, the multi-genre festival is returning to Digbeth across three energetic days of electronic music.

Across July 28-30, one standout act from this year is Grammy Award-winning artist Sean Paul who will bring his singalong anthem of hits to Digbeth . Sean will perform at the Luna Springs stage as the headliner on July 30 - and tickets are on sale on March 30.

Outside of Sean Paul, drum and bass heavyweights Hedex and Bou will headline the first day of fun at Forum Birmingham. As well as music, there will be street food, live graffiti by artists and an after party.

The night at Forum Birmingham is run in association with Super Sonix. Known for their 16+ event nights, Super Sonix and MADE are teaming up to give younger people a taste of the festival atmosphere.

MADE Festival director Pete Jordan said, “After a few years away due to the Commonwealth Games , we were given the one-off opportunity to return MADE back to its roots, and back to Birmingham, so it’s fair to say we are really excited for the 9th edition of the festival. Across three days we plan to shine a spotlight on the many amazing artists and creatives within the second city.

“The theme of collaboration runs strongly through this year’s events. The Saturday line up features some of our favourite acts from over the years, but also includes a number of new exciting talents and local brands that mirror the evolving world of electronic music.

“We’re very pleased to have Sean Paul performing too on an action-packed Sunday daytime event, and the region’s younger music lovers can experience what we do alongside the amazing Super Sonix, a brand that sets the standard for 16+ events in the UK.”

International music sensation Sean Paul is scheduled to perform in Hull and Brighton this summer, bringing his unique Jamaican dancehall beats to these British cities. Fans can look forward to a live show at the Bonus Arena Hull on Tuesday, 8th August, and another performance in Brighton.

Tickets will be available for pre-sale from Tuesday 4th April at 10am, with General sale opening on Thursday 6th April at 10am – available from Ticketmaster .

Sean Paul’s decision to include Hull and Brighton in his summer tour comes as a special treat for fans in these cities, which were not part of his ‘Scorcha’ UK tour last year. The tour promoted his 8th studio album of the same name and marked his first UK tour in over three years. Primed for a massive summer, multi-award-winning Billboard chart topper Sean Paul is set to heat up 2022 with his eighth full-length album and Island Records debut, Scorcha , on May 27.

Billboard exclusively broke the news of the record’s arrival. The outlet wrote, “Paul’s wave of dancehall was not just about the music. It became a worldwide cultural movement, filled with unapologetically Jamaican style, visuals, dance moves and traditions.”

Additionally, Sean Paul has unveiled a candid behind-the-scenes vignette for the music video of the first single “How We Do It,” which features Pia Mia.

“How We Do It” caught fire right out of the gate. It has already amassed just shy of one million Spotify streams in addition to gathering over 400K YouTube views on the music video. PAPER premiered the visual and exclaimed, “Legendary dancehall singer Sean Paul is back with pop star Pia Mia, just ahead of summer, to provide their dance floor duet, ‘How We Do It,’ as a sexy explainer detailing the many ways they like to, well, ‘do it’.” Meanwhile, REVOLT hailed it as “perfect for sending fans off in to the weekend ready for a good time.”

Sean recently earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Reggae Album for his 7th studio album Live N Livin , which was released in 2021. The album is a collaborative celebration of his Jamaican heritage and dancehall roots in which Sean trades the mic with Buju Banton and Damian Marley. Dancehall can be stereotyped as a competitive, macho space where sound clashes are king, but Live N Livin set out to emphasize what’s possible when unity is the goal. “We don’t need to divide our fans to attain the rotations on the airwaves or streams,” Sean says. “I hold this album very dear to my heart because it shows the effort of collaboration over confrontation.”

He also announced 2022 U.S. Scorcha tour dates. Returning to the stage following two years since touring due to the pandemic, he is eager and excited to reconnect with his fans live and in person.

Jamaican rapper, singer and Grammy Award winner, Sean Paul, is bringing “The Greatest Tour 2024″ to Pa. this weekend.

He will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, May 10, at The Fillmore in Philadelphia.
