London/Stratford area golfers, welcome back to another great season of golf!  Come and play with other avid golfers in tournament style golf for cash prizes, offered on weekends at courses in and around the London/Stratford area. These are handicapped events for all golfer abilities, with handicaps ranging from 3 to 33. Formats available: single events, team events, skins games (not included in event price) , best ball and Ryder cup. You can pick and choose your events based on your schedule! Member results from the top 6 events played will count towards season ending awards. The player with the most points at the end of the season will be “London/Stratford Champion” and walk away with the year end cash award and the trophy! The winner of this event also gets their entrance fee paid by me for the National Tour Championship. Want to try some different courses, check out the other chapter events. Each chapter offers singles, 2 day and chapter final events. Points are earned at each event you play depending on how you finish. Also available to all members is the always exciting National Tour Championship to finish off the season. The Mulligan Tour is a competitive fun Tour, (The emphasis is just as much on fun as it is on competitiveness) $20/player goes go to the cash pot with the feeling that if you win you should have your day paid for as a result, any more than that we feel could take the fun out of the game! Handicaps are based on your last 6 tournament rounds with peer review available in our stats (provided by leaderboard.com) $2 from each event fee goes towards the year end Chapter finals cash pot! What is the Tyson Tour?

The Junior Tyson Tour is the oldest junior golf tour in Canada, and a not for profit organization that is operated by local PGA of Canada Professionals. In 2024, we will provide local junior golfers with the opportunity to compete within their age groups, in adult-supervised competitive golf events. We have partnered with a number of local private and public golf facilities to create a PGA Tour-like environment. Juniors will be encouraged to have fun, learn the rules and etiquette of golf, respect their fellow competitors, improve their golf skills, and enjoy the tournament play experience.

We are hosting a fundraising tournament for the Tyson Tour! All former Tyson Tour players, or those wishing to support the Tour are welcome. Limited field, register now.

History: 1968-2024

The Junior Tyson Tour is operated for junior golfers in Southwestern Ontario. The Tour was founded in 1968 by Bev Tyrell, a reporter for the London Free Press newspaper. The Junior Tyson Tour has evolved over the years, known initially as the Tysons Tour with only 4 events with the winner decided by stroke average compared to today’s point system and 8 events in the 2024 season. The Tyson Tour provides junior golfers with the opportunity to compete in a fun environment while developing their skills and a passion for the game of golf. The Tyson Tour has seen many fine Girl’s and Boy’s champions. With a long history and a commitment to developing junior golfers, the Junior Tyson Tour is a great platform for young golfers to showcase their skills.

The Les Thomas

Mr. Thomas was an elected board member of the former Public Utilities Commission in London and supported both Thames Valley and Fanshawe golf facilities. During the 1970’s he was also a member of the Ontario Golf Association becoming it’s honorary President in 1977. His major interests included furthering junior golf especially in the London area. After passing away in 1981 he was honoured by having his name attached to the Thames Valley Junior Tyson Tour event. Les’s wife Doreen would faithfully watch the Les Thomas final matches for many years even into her 80’s and was walking the course supporting the event when Mike Weir won the Les Thomas. After Mr. Thomas passed away, the event format was changed by Bill Fox Sr, who imagined an event with no age brackets over a six- round tournament, which included a 36-hole qualifier and then potentially four rounds of match play. The purpose of the extended event was to raise the profile of those juniors participating in the event in hopes of a few of the top players receiving a scholarship to a U.S. school. The first Les Thomas tournament was won by Dan Quinn who played for the Belleville Bulls of the O.H.L. in 1981, and who went on to play with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL alongside Mario Lemieux. The Les Thomas proudly returns to the Junior Tyson Tour in 2024. The format will be a tournament inside 2 tournaments: the player with the lowest 2 round total from the Junior Tyson Tour events at Thames Vallet GC and Fanshawe GC will be declared the winner and have their name on a trophy with champions such as Mike Weir, Quinn and more. The Junior Tyson Tour committee is grateful to Mr. Les Thomas for his contribution to the tour, and to junior golf in the London region.

Love all the improvements to the course. The newly renovated patio is very welcoming and the live music on Friday nights is awesome! THAMES VALLEY GOLF COURSE REVIEWS

Thames Valley has a beautiful 18 hole course amid mature trees, the 9 hole hickory is fun as well - a pleasant walk! The restaurant serves a good breakfast - excellent value!

This golf course is always on my way when I ride my bike so I decided to give it a try. All in all, I had a good time playing golf there.

Great golf course. Beautiful rolling hills. Greens were true. Course is in great shape.

Thames Valley Golf Course and Fanshawe Golf Course opened on Thursday, April 4, for the 2024 season.

The City operates four golf courses at two facilities, including Thames Valley Golf Course and  Fanshawe Golf Course . Follow our  Facebook  and   Twitter , or sign up for the gold  e-newsletter  for updates.

Book a tee time

Tee times can be made 7 days in advance. Clubhouse hours of operation may vary depending on the weather.  Please call 519-661-4450 for all golf related inquiries. 

Creating a new account.  Please click the 'Sign Up' link in the top right-hand corner of the booking screen and create a new online account using an e-mail and password of your choice.

Payment.  No payment is required at time of booking.  All prices displayed are guest prices. Customers with golf passes will be charged the appropriate rate at the time of check-in.

Booking the tee time.  Once signed in, use the filters on the left-hand side to choose the date and courses for which you wish to see tee times for.  If needed, use the time of day and number of golfer filters to further narrow the tee times displayed. Select 'Book Now' on the tee time you wish to book and complete the booking process.

Golf passes

You can purchase a 2024 golf pass online by logging into your  Play Your Way online account or by calling 519-661-5575, Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you don’t have an account, you’ll need to sign up before purchasing a pass . Golf passes are also available for purchase at the Thames Valley Golf Course, though they are not available for purchase at the Fanshawe Golf Course.

Golf pass pricing

Unlimited passes are designed to give great value to the avid golfer expecting the best experiences at all City golf courses. This pass provides access with no restrictions to all of our golf courses for a one-time fee.

Designed for the golfer who plays a minimum of 15 rounds per year and is looking for affordable, reduced green fees.  Golfers will pay the initial regular pass fee and then a reduced green fee all season long, 7 days a week at both locations.

Power cart rates, packages

When reserving a tee time at Thames Valley and Fanshawe, please call 519-661-4450 before you leave your home if you require or wish to take a power cart to play. Power carts are sometimes not allowed out based on course conditions.”

Power carts are available on a first come, first serve basis.  All cart prices are based on a single rider. Limit of two carts per groups of four. HST is included in the prices listed below.

Unlimited single rider: $790.50

This package allows one golfer unlimited cart access at both Fanshawe and Thames Valley golf courses based on cart availability.

18-hole prime time cart pass:   $346.80

This package allows one golfer 20 cart rentals at both Fanshawe and Thames Valley golf courses based on cart availability. If there are any rides left over at the end of the year, they will carry over to the following golf season.

Thames Valley Hickory 9-hole cart pass:   $173.40

This package allows one golfer 20 cart rentals for 9 holes on The Hickory at Thames Valley and The Traditional at Fanshawe. If there are any rides left over at the end of the year, they will carry over to the following golf season.

Alcohol Policy

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario requires that alcoholic beverages consumed on the premises must be purchased on site. It is illegal to bring your own alcoholic beverages to the property.  Any violation of this rule will result in your removal from the golf course.

Golf groups cannot exceed 4 golfers. Violation of this policy may result in your removal from the golf course.

Check-In Policy

All golfers must check in with the pro shop before teeing off. On days when starters are working, all golfers must provide a receipt on the first tee.

Golfers now have the ability to book tee times 7 days in advance starting at 6:00 a.m. daily. Tee times can be made over the phone or in-person when the pro shop opens.  Tee times can also be made after hours online.

Single Golfers

Single golfers can book online and join an existing group if there is twosome or threesome of golfers already on the tee sheet. Otherwise, single players are encouraged to come out and talk to the pro shop staff about finding a game for that day.  The City of London golf courses run multiple leagues and events across all three locations, it is recommend single players call the pro shop (519-661-4450) prior to heading to the golf course to inquire about current availability on the tee sheet.

Lightning Policy

The City of London Golf Courses do not have a lightning detection system or a lightning alert system.  Users of our golf courses are responsible to monitor the weather and to leave the course at the first sight of lightning or thunder, regardless of how far away.  Lightning or thunder in the area puts one at risk of serious injury or death.  Do not take unnecessary risks.  Rain checks are provided to all players who discontinue their round due to lightning.

Rory McIlroy is staying on the PGA Tour, at least for now.

McIlroy’s rumored move to LIV Golf for $850 million has “zero truth,” according to The Irish Independent . McIlroy’s manager, Sean O’Flaherty, also indicated that the rumor was “fake news.”

Jaime Weir of SkySports called the McIlroy story “ complete nonsense. ” Meanwhile, The Telegraph’s James Corrigan said he heard nothing when asked about these rumors.

Earlier on Monday, City AM, one of London's largest circulating financial newspapers, claimed to have two sources pointing to a deal between McIlroy and LIV Golf, which also included the Northern Irishman acquiring a 2% stake in the company.

Speculation about McIlroy moving to LIV Golf picked up steam when his former agent, Chubby Chandler, suggested he could do so in February.

“If you were being cynical, you might say he’s going to sign for around $950 million in a month’s time with LIV because he’s paving the way that LIV’s okay now, whereas it wasn’t,” Chandler said per Bunkered Online .

“Who knows? He doesn’t need £750 million, but it’s odd what he’s done, and I’m sure it’s a possibility. I don't know if he does it or not, but if [Jon] Rahm can do it, most guys can.”

Chandler then went on to say that McIlroy had a “10-percent possibility” of joining LIV.

That led McIlroy to cheekily address these comments ahead of The Cognizant Classic at the Palm Beaches in late February.

“I spoke to Chubby, might have saw him in the Middle East at the start of the year,” McIlroy said at PGA National.

“Never know. He might know a few things. Who knows.”

McIlroy has changed his tune regarding professional golf over the past few months, not disparaging LIV Golf like he used to and instead calling for unification.

Ahead of the Dubai Invitational in January, McIlroy laid out his vision for a global tour in which all of the top players from the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and LIV Golf traverse the world playing the globe’s greatest venues. He envisions a 14-tournament series with 75-to-80 players to coincide with the major championships.

“My dream scenario is a world tour, with the proviso that corporate America has to remain a big part of it all. Saudi Arabia, too. That’s just basic economics. But there is an untapped commercial opportunity out there. Investors always want to make a return on their money,” McIlroy said in January.

“Revenues at the PGA Tour right now are about $2.3 billion. So, how do we get that number up to four or six? To me, it is by looking outward. They need to think internationally and spread their wings a bit. I’ve been banging that drum for a while.”

McIlroy has repeatedly called for an agreement at every turn. Still, a concrete deal between the PGA Tour and the Saudi Public Investment (PIF)—LIV Golf’s beneficiary—seems far away.

“I don’t know if we’re closer, but certainly we’re headed in the right direction,” Tiger Woods , a member of the PGA Tour Policy Board, said at Augusta National on Sunday.

“That was a very positive meeting [in March], and I think both sides came away from the meeting feeling positive.”

The policy board met with Yasir al-Rumayyan, the governor of the PIF, in the Bahamas on the Monday after The Players Championship. That meeting served as an “ice breaker” of sorts, but substantial progress has not been made.

Instead, rumors, such as McIlroy’s departure, continue to swirl, which will only turn golf fans away and jeopardize the longstanding stature of a niche sport.
