Added to the thread. Thank you!

I'm having my lift installed by Kendall Toyota of Bend in July. I'll post before and after photos and relevant pricing information here when done!

You’re lucky to live near Kendall Toyota. I’ve checked out their JOR Lift YouTube videos. Looks like they have the process ironed out.

Following. Thanks for creating this thread. Perhaps one of the mods could pin it to the top? For those that installed the lift, what is the max HEIGHT tire that would fit a 2" lift with room for cables (not chains)?

I installed the 3" on my 2022 Woodland. Photos are shown at this link: Air Bag suspension kit for 2022 XLE AWD?

If you have a little mechanical background and take your time and don’t get frustrated easily, the parts install very straightforward. Did not notice any difference in mileage drop, due in part to the tires that were installed being an XL rated. The XL stands for extra load, so it is a slight bit stiffer than the sponge factory tires therefore less roll resistance. No body roll with my set up, it drives like a sports car on mountain roads and that’s no joke. I take corners hard at times and forget my shepherds are in the midsection of my van, and when I realize I’m going into the corner, too hot and look back, my shepherds, are up against the door with that what the hell look on their face🤦‍♂️.

Would love more details on how you removed the glued on caps and close ups of the wheels underneath?

You need at minimum (1) 3’ pry bar Home Depot. You will have to place something plastic ( Scraper in paint Dept. between the tire & lip of wheel to slide the pry bar in a little at a time. As you pry, start rotating around whole hubcap to loosen. The industrial grade adhesive holding the chrome hubcaps is insane. You may think you’re doing a CrossFit workout on the removal work🤷‍♂️🤣🤣. I have other project Toyotas as well therefore I am in no rush to track the necessary info as to how much heat I can apply with a heat gun for adhesive removal. I have been told by onlookers that the adhesive on the wheels gives it an off-road look🤷‍♂️.

@RCP2013 - thank you for the pics. Th wheels on our '21 Platinum are my biggest pet peeve. I am on the fence with how the adhesive looks, and if you ever try to remove the adhesive - I would want to hear your thoughts on how it went.

I will probably try and contact a few Powdercoat companies and we’ll companies as well to try to determine how much heat I can apply here soon maybe in the next few weeks. With the lift, I was able to go up one size on the tires. The tires I got are a game changer, they are the Nitto nomad Grappler. These tires initially were designed to put on the adventure versions of the Subarus. No road noise from these tires a little stiffer side wall so reduced body roll and on the road or on trails they are pretty phenomenal I have to say.

@admin or @fibber2 - any chance we can get the above airbag-related posts (from pp. 1-2 of this thread) removed from this thread and consolidated into one of the 4th Gen Sienna helper airbag related threads? This is great and very helpful content that would prove to be extremely useful for someone planning/researching an airbag install into a 4th Gen; however, despite its value, this content is a bit off topic for this specific thread discussing JOR 4th Gen Sienna lift kits. Just a thought that I think would help to structure the 4th Gen vehicle modification content on this forum.

I can't tonight, but let me look at it later in the week.

@yonah I gave this some thought, but don't see a compelling reason to strip the airbag content. I did, however, copy the Firestone airbag-related posts from here to this thread ( 2021 Sienna LE FWD with helper bags / air springs installed ) for cross-reference. As per the above discussion, there is an interest in exploring and possibly applying combination techniques, and there is certainly enough interest in both of these to warrant keeping them as-is. And now that we have linked them, it will remain a great resource for members interested in one or both. There have been other discussions about Journey kits in the past. If you are really worried about structure and flow of discussions keeping it all in one place, we could combine all of these discussions into a brand new tread. Or just leave it as it plays out. I don't believe that anyone will have trouble finding or following your content. Thanks for your interest and assistance to the community.

Any feedback on whether upgrading from LE 17's to 18's would help much with a tighter ride? Im thinking of plus-sizing the tires and afraid the JOR lift + taller sidewall would add too much body roll.

No added sway or delayed response in handling with the lift and the size tires on my stock 18 inch wheels that came with my van. Notice they are an XL load rated. With the listed tires, my van is much more responsive and my German shepherds, that ride in the midsection can attest to that on mountain road driving🤷‍♂️😳🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I do a long commute for work, almost 6 hours from Southern California to the bay area twice a month. I generally run between 75 to 85 mph and my mileage in the 80s is an about the 27 to 28 range. Driving 65 to 70 with two German shepherds, and the general things that are in the back of my van, see attached pic, I get in the 34 to 36 mpg range. What is the load rating on sidewall of model you are looking at? P-load, XL-load, C, D, E? I am going to run the Falkens on my first GEN crew, cab, 4 x 4 tundra, but I did not see the size I was looking for with the exact load I preferred for the sienna.

Automotive tail & brake light Car Vehicle registration plate Vehicle Automotive lighting

SL for the Falkens. The AT3W's are XL but a few lbs heavier. Not sure what size to go with if I stick with 17s.. 235/70/17 would be the logical choice, 1" taller that stock but Falken nor Nitto's are available in that size.

When I was doing my research and narrowed it down to the Nitto Nomad Grappler, I felt that America’s tire had the best pricing with more than enough selection. I just did a quick search on that size you have listed 235/70/17, I saw several decent choices in the XL load rating with great mileage warranty. I would’ve preferred 17 inch with minimum one size taller profile for my tires to give me that added cushion when I am on trails but I am happy with the set up I have as well.

I am also interested in the 3" lift kit. Just talked with Kendall Toyota, and a tech told me that SOME Siennas develop a slight shimmy in the steering wheel as a result of this lift. He said it is not fixable. Anybody experienced this ? Any info / thoughts appreciated.

On my 2022 limited all wheel drive hybrid, I had to replace the linkage a due to knocking profusely. The knocking started after putting about 7000 miles on the van post lift. It would get so loud. It sounded like the suspension was going to come apart while driving. When I contacted journeys off road, which took several calls, because they did not reply to my message, they claimed they were unaware of any issues? I ordered my replacement linkage directly from Moog and I no longer have the knocking that I had with the originals that came with the kit.

@yonah - thank you for sharing that. It would be very helpful to find out the difference between the shaft angle with the 2" and 3" lifts, as opposed to the original OEM angle. Will look more into this. Even though the CV axle replacement is nothing major ...

@RCP2013 - Please share what lift did you get (2" or 3"), how many miles with the lift, etc. I understand you are also going offroad with the Sienna, how is it behaving (with the lift) ? Thanks !

I went with the journeys, off-road 3 inch lift Fire stone airbags in the rear springs-fire stone does not make airbags for my 2022 limited all-wheel-drive hybrid. I sent them detailed pictures when I was able to get the airbags to work without any butchering of my vehicle. All those pictures are listed on this website because I shared them here as well. I also have sumo spring bushings in the front springs to eliminate some of the SAG in the vehicle as well. I also went with Nitto nomad grappler tires the XL load range. I was able to go up one size taller than the stock tires that came on my van. The tires equally make as much of a difference with regard to handling on and off road. I posted on here the other day when somebody started a discussion about problems with the journey’s off-road lift. I posted my linkage that came with the lift started knocking on both sides at about 3500 miles or so. I contacted Moog direct and got replacement linkage and I put several miles on my van now with no more noise whatsoever. My van sits just as high as a Subaru, if not higher and handles nicely on trails and on the highway.

Awesome, thank you RCP2013 !!!

You’re welcome!

@RCP2013 - just so I clear my head from misunderstanding: you have an AWD 2022 Sienna ? you bought sumo coils/spacers for the FWD 2022 Sienna front suspension, and installed them in the rear ? Or in the front ? Thanks ! -- Sorry if I missed this info from other threads, I am reading a lot about this and might have mixed some details.

@RCP2013 - Thank you for clarifying that. I was looking for rear Sumo coils for an AWD LE . I have very good experience with Sumo Springs on a 4Runner, excellent product. I hope they make it for Sienna as well - they replace the factory bump stops, byt are longer and actually sit on the axles and act as a double-up spring. Very efficient and simple - no mainenance.

A recommendation if I may- I would put the sumo spacers in the front and Fire stone airbags in the rear. It’s not only going to help you in general at keeping the vehicle level and not sagging but also in the long run if you plan on keeping the vehicle, it will keep those coil springs in great condition for the long haul.

@RCP2013 - I am planning to go with your recommendation and do the 2" lift + Firestones in the rear. Will talk to Kendall Toyota see what they say, and if they can install them together with the lift. Somebody recommended AirLift airbags, they say they are "better" than Firestones ? Don't know much about this brand ...

Installing the bags during the lift install makes sense. Will probably add an hour or so to your bill. I chose the Firestone bags as I like the countersunk/recessed push-fit air fitting that is vulcanized into the top of the bag. The Airlift bags have a nipple that protrudes out of the top of the bag and their supplied air line slides over it. Seems vulnerable, IMO, but that’s just me. I like push-fittings. If you seat the airline well into the fitting, you’ll have no issues. Push-fittings are very popular in the pneumatic industry for this reason.

@yonah -- thank you, that makes sense, ordered Firestones.

Seriously. A lift kit for a Sienna. Why? It's a mini van not a off road vehicle.

journeys off road

This is great! I am going to look onto it. I traded my GMC Yukon XL for an AWD Sienna (2021). Even with a lift kit and aggressive tires, of course the Sienna can't go truly off-road, but I wasn't doing that in the YukonXL either. This extra clearance would get me down a lot of dirt/logging roads that are accessible for higher based AWD vehicles (think Subaru Outback with the Wildermess package). And with the lift I still wouldn't need a extra step to get my paddleboard on top. The space on the Sienna is so much more useful is many ways than the Yukon or Subaru. Never thought I would ever drive a mini-van; never say never.

5 Ways to Get Equipped for Off-Road Adventure

Outfit your rig with everything from a better bed to the right tires and enjoy overlanding journeys near and far

Andrew and Kicker Muse

It’s no surprise that overlanding is booming—when it comes to outdoor adventure, there’s nothing more accessible. With a few key pieces of gear, you can explore the backcountry and camp in comfort in the most remote places. But that doesn’t mean you should just hop in your vehicle and leave the pavement behind. You can avoid a lot of trial and error by learning from someone who has years of experience.

That’s why we enlisted Andrew Muse for some expert advice. The adventure videographer started overlanding more than a decade ago as a way to save money while exploring the wilds of North America. He loved it so much that he never stopped. From Baja to Alaska, Muse and his dog, Kicker , have enjoyed adventures that will last a lifetime. And they’re not slowing down. “Now it’s just a way of life,” says Muse. After thousands of miles, he says the most important thing is having the right vehicle with the right tires , but that’s just the start.

Andrew and Kicker Muse

We caught up with Muse and Kicker at Overland Expo . The annual gathering, held in four locations from spring to fall, offers a full immersion in overlanding gear and culture. At Overland Expo West, in Arizona in May, Muse checked in with Hankook and all the top makers of vehicles, gadgets, and camping products. “My favorite part of Overland Expo is the community,” says Muse. “Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a hardcore full-timer, the people here are just excited to share knowledge and stories.”

Muse is the same. He loves to learn from others and share some of his hard-won tips. Besides tires, which provide that all-important contact between your vehicle and the ground, he says there are four more key categories you should get right. Call them basic needs for comfort and safety: sleeping, eating, maintaining power, and getting clean. Here’s what Muse found at Overland Expo West to get outfitted on all fronts.

Sleep System

Muse drives a Ford Bronco, which means using a tent or trailer of some type for sleeping. Unless you’re in a larger vehicle with internal quarters, you’ll have to balance setup/takedown convenience with comfort, protection, and stability. “I use a Thule rooftop tent that turns my Bronco into an instant backcountry hotel,” says Muse. At Overland Expo West, he stopped by the Thule booth to see what their engineers have been working on and discovered a new option for rigs like his. The Thule Outset , a hitch-mounted tent, offers many of the same advantages of a rooftop model, but it’s closer to the ground for easier access and is less exposed to wind. Muse hasn’t slept in it yet (it launches in September), but Kicker gave it a quick “hop-in test” at the Expo and gave it a paw’s up.

Andrew and Kicker check out the Thule booth at Overland Expo West.

All-Conditions Tires

A good overlanding rig starts with high clearance and four-wheel drive, but it definitely doesn’t end there. Tires are the single most important upgrade you can make when prepping to leave the pavement. Superior traction and puncture resistance are critical on dirt, mud, and rocks, and nothing will serve you better than Hankook Dynapro tires. “In the world of overlanding, tires are the foundation of every great adventure. The Dynapro family of tires has the traction and reliability you need to explore with confidence,” says Robert Nasca, product and marketing training manager at Hankook Tire America . The Dynapro family of tires is designed specifically for light trucks and SUVs, with an emphasis on all-terrain performance and durability. The Dynapro off-road models—the AT2 Xtreme, MT2, and XT—are fine-tuned to fit the needs of overlanding, with different attributes to suit your type of driving.

“With my current Bronco build, my focus is exploring hard-to-access places,” Muse says. “Having good tires is super important for that. I want a tire that has great off-road traction but also isn’t too loud during long days on the highway. That’s why I’m running the Dynapro AT2 Xtremes . Of course, I’m prepared to deal with a flat—everyone should be—but I would much rather have reliable tires and leave the repair gear packed away. I’ve been in a few situations with low-quality tires, and I will never make that mistake again.”

To make the best use of your tires, you’ll want a deflation device and portable air compressor. Lowering tire pressure increases the tire’s footprint, which improves traction on soft surfaces like sand and snow. Be sure to inflate your tires back to the recommended pressure when returning to pavement.

Food Storage

Whether you’re out for a weekend, a month, or a year, eating well is priority number one. First, it’s just plain satisfying to make and eat delicious meals in the backcountry. But it’s also important to eat fresh, nutritious ingredients that will keep you energized and healthy when you’re out for extended periods. For a long time, Muse made do with a conventional cooler. But on longer trips, coolers have obvious drawbacks—namely replenishing ice and dealing with soggy items. “Kicker and I love to be on the road for months at a time,” Muse says. “That’s a lot of ice—if you can find it.” Fortunately, the technology for portable electric refrigerators has exploded in recent years, and when Muse stopped by the Dometic booth, he was impressed with the brand’s latest fridge, which runs on both AC and DC power, requires less juice than a 60-watt lightbulb, and has 45 cubic feet of space.

Solar Power

You’ll need power for that fridge and all your other devices. Muse also needs power for cameras, phone, laptop, and more. Solar panels (a 100-to-200-watt range is a good target) are the answer for off-the-grid living, but like any electronics, panels are vulnerable to backcountry mishaps. “You want to be as self-sufficient as possible when overlanding,” says Muse. “And that means caring for your gear and always choosing durable options.” Solar panels don’t get more durable than the ones from Xplor , which can withstand direct blows from a baseball bat. Literally. Muse hit the flexible panel as hard as he could, multiple times, and it didn’t break. The panels are also efficient: just plug them into the cigarette lighter or truck-bed plug while you’re driving and into a power station when you’re not, and you’ll never be without juice.

Andrew Muse tested Xplor’s durability at Overland Expo West.

Portable Shower

Play hard, get dirty, and clean up. “A shower at the end of a long day can make the difference between a good trip and a great trip,” says Muse. “But on overlanding journeys, water is almost always a precious commodity, so you need to be able to clean off without wasting a drop.” That’s why he was thrilled to discover Geyser Systems , a portable shower that’s so efficient you can get clean with less than one gallon of water. Pair it with a stove and you can even have a hot shower in less than five minutes. It’s also great for cleaning dishes, gear, and pets, and it’s super compact, so it’s compatible with any rig.

Andrew Muse learns about Geyser Systems and its efficient use of water.

Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, Hankook Tire America markets and distributes a complete line of high-performance passenger tires, light truck and SUV tires, and medium truck and bus tires. Perhaps you already know, but there is a great difference between Moscow, St. Petersburg, and all other towns and cities in Russia. Visiting the countryside is a great opportunity to travel the real Russia and to see the common life of ordinary people. The best choice for a one-day Russian countryside experience is the Vladimir and Suzdal tour.

Vladimir and Suzdal are small towns that are famous worldwide because of their great history and picturesque architecture with numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the 12th century. Aside from golden cupolas of stunning churches and monasteries, you will experience a very rural real Russian outlook with bubbling streams and grassy meadows, chickens and livestock, and interesting and authentic local residents. All are a common sight on the streets, some of which remain unpaved. Be ready for a full-day trip and many unforgettable experiences during your Russian holidays!

How long did it take to get from Moscow to St. Petersburg throughout the centuries? (INFOGRAPHICS)

journeys off road

Russian Railways recently announced a new speed train railway between Moscow and St. Petersburg will be launched by late 2027. The journey is expected to take just 2.5 hours in total (with an estimated 2 hours 15 minutes ride time without stops). As of today, the project is going to break a record in terms of the duration of a journey between the two capitals. So, how long did it take to travel from “the northern capital” to Moscow (and vice versa) in the different epochs?

journeys off road

In 1703, Peter the Great founded St. Petersburg and transferred the Russian capital there. The city began to develop, with its population swiftly growing, but a great many noble families continued on living in Moscow. Additionally, the main orthodox cathedrals, where tsars were crowned and buried , remained there. So, Peter the Great would make the journey from St. Petersburg to Moscow and back by horse carriage, making it the most frequently used route for centuries.

Alexander Orlovsky. Journey in a kibitka (carriage with tent). Litography, 19th century

Alexander Orlovsky. Journey in a kibitka (carriage with tent). Litography, 19th century

In the 18th century, the journey took on average four and half to six or more days . To a great extent, it depended on weather conditions; for instance, it took the least amount of time to glide on winter ice and snow. Empress Elizabeth of Russia held the record in the 18th century for the shortest journey from St. Petersburg to Moscow.

Elizabeth's sledge

Elizabeth's sledge

In 1742, it took her and her entourage merely three days to reach her coronation place in a sledge. They rode quite a few horses to death at that time, traveling only during the day and resting at night.

One could reach the destination fast enough with a troika , pulled by three horses, as they developed a speed of 45-50 km/h. However, not everyone could afford such a ride, most often going for a pair of horses or just one.

During the off-season, in spring and fall, the road was covered with impassable mud and it cost more and took longer to travel along it. “ No less than six days did I wend my way along a filthy road, arriving in St. Petersburg half dead,” Alexander Pushkin wrote in his sketch ‘The Journey from Moscow to Petersburg’. All in all, the poet traveled between the cities over 20 times: in a tilt cart or by changing horses (a sort of “horse sharing”, when one would change horses at post stations) or in his own comfortable carriage.

Nikolai Sverchkov. A Landowner on the Road. 1855

Nikolai Sverchkov. A Landowner on the Road. 1855

In 1820, the first “public transport” emerged, namely stagecoaches, which could carry 4-12 passengers and ran between the cities according to a schedule. The journey in a stagecoach took about 4.5 days .

Back in 1834, the first “even highway” between the cities was built: part of the road was paved with stone, while the rest was covered with pebble stone. Pushkin made up his mind to test it and reached the destination - in merely four days!

The first railway

The mid-19th century saw a real technical breakthrough. In 1842, Nicholas I signed an order to build a railway between Moscow and St. Petersburg. Years earlier, the first railroad in Russia had been built, connecting St. Petersburg with its suburb, Tsarskoye Selo. Regular trains started running between St. Petersburg and Moscow in 1851, with the journey taking 21 hours 45 minutes . After Nicholas I’s death, the railroad adopted his name - Nikolaevskaya - and, in Soviet times, it was renamed Oktyabrskaya, as we know it today.

The railroad in Tver, early 20th century

The railroad in Tver, early 20th century

It became incredibly trendy to travel between the cities by train. It’s not by chance that, in the 1870s, Leo Tolstoy wrote his novel ‘Anna Karenina’, where the railway was a significant part of the narration .

In the USSR, the importance of railways was fully acknowledged, with focus put on reducing the time of a journey. In the 1920s, passenger trains between the two capitals traveled for 15 hours on average. Back in 1920, an experimental electric train managed to cover the distance in just 12 hours . In 1931, the first Soviet express train was launched, reaching the destination in a record-breaking ten hours . In the 1960s, the focus shifted from locomotives to the electric haulage, which made it possible for an electric train to accelerate to 130 km/h instead of the average 70.

ER200

In 1984, the speedy ER200 electric train covered the distance from Leningrad to Moscow in five hours 20 minutes and, later, in as little as four hours 59 minutes . It could reach speeds of up to 200 km/h. However, there were only two such trains, which ran three times a week and cost a lot to maintain and, thus, were not mass-produced. Soviet people preferred regular passenger trains to them. In 2009, the ER200 ran for the last time, giving way to the high-speed ‘Sapsan’ train.

What’s there nowadays?

Sapsan high-speed express trains

Sapsan high-speed express trains

These days, a plane covers the distance between Moscow and St. Petersburg in merely 1.5 hours . Yet, taking into account the journey to the airport and then from it in the city of destination, as well as the fact one has to arrive at the airport in advance, many prefer to travel by rail. A good thing is that there always are a plethora of options to choose from: over 30 trains run between the cities daily.

Journey time on express trains is seven to 10 hours , with the length mostly depending on the number of stops. The eight-hour journey was immortalized in a popular 1995 song by Maxim Leonidov  - ‘From Petersburg to Moscow’, featuring the following lines: “Just eight hours without sleep/from Petersburg to Moscow”.

Journey time on the Soviet ‘Red Arrow’ train also roughly takes eight hours . There are also a number of different express trains: For instance, the journey on the Nevsky Express takes four hours and four minutes . The fast Lastochka electric train covers the distance in 5.5-6.5 hours , whereas the journey on the fastest train - the ‘Sapsan’ takes only three hours 50 minutes .

For many years, apart from the railway, the old tsar road was used for traveling on horses and then, in cars. In 1958, asphalt was added, with the road becoming known as highway M10. It is typically possible to cover the distance of 684 kilometers in ten hours . Most of the road goes through villages and towns, where a speed limit of 40-60 km/h applies.

In 2019, the express M11 ‘Neva’ toll highway was unveiled. The journey takes around five hours , with most parts having a 130 km/h speed limit. A small section of the highway in the vicinity of Tver is still being built, which forces the route to travel through residential areas.

Elise Carmichael is the CTO of Lakeside Software , where she oversees the design and delivery of its digital employee experience platform.

As a woman in a male-dominated field, I loved the Barbie movie. As a Rubik’s cube kid who cried when dolls were given to me as presents, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Allow me to explain.

First, let me jog your memory of the turning point scene when Gloria (America Ferrera) makes the knock-your-Barbie-socks-off speech about the many contradictions of being a woman. From there, all the converted Barbies are wrested back into being the women they were before being brainwashed in the Kendom.

Why does this speech hit home for me not only as a woman in tech but also as an IT software leader ready to welcome the future of autonomous IT? Because IT exists in its own world of contractions brought on by ever-changing external forces such as software updates, cloud migrations, constant new services/tools/options, distributed workforces and now, generative AI.

Even though we haven't yet arrived at truly “autonomous IT,” it's the beckoning future of IT—delivered with clarity instead of contradiction.

So, when an exasperated Gloria says , “It’s too contradictory and nobody gives you a medal or says thank you! And it turns out in fact that not only are you doing everything wrong, but also everything is your fault,” I couldn’t help but hear, “ IT is too contradictory and nobody gives you a medal or says thank you when you fix an epically complex scenario!” I appreciate the powerful meaning of the monologue and respect its message, which also resonates in my world of IT. That’s because the words can speak, too, to the stereotypical undervalued, overworked IT professional who's called on constantly to be the hero or heroine whenever something goes awry.

‘House Of The Dragon’ Season 2, Episode 2 Recap And Review: ‘I Love You Brother’

Disney forced to reveal unequal pay on star wars show ‘the acolyte’, ‘time to panic’—sudden $200 billion bitcoin, ethereum, solana, xrp and crypto price crash triggers ‘critical’ alarm.

As enterprise leaders ask the IT team to explore and possibly adopt the latest and greatest technology (in this case, generative AI), here's what IT techies most likely hear: “You have to go faster, but you can't break anything.” Or, “You must roll out the new Teams or Windows 11, but you must keep all your employees happy with the changes. Oh, and do it yesterday.” Or, “You have to deploy patches immediately even if you don’t know the true impact because it’s impossible to test with every other application and hardware with all of the versions sitting on the endpoints.” Or, “You must upgrade to the latest OS without spending money on new hardware to support the latest OS.” And so on. See what I mean? It’s—or IT’s—exhausting.

Fortunately, like the diorama scenes of Barbie and Ken driving in various modes of transportation to get to the real world of autonomous IT, AI for IT is evolving.

Five Milestones Along The Journey Toward Autonomous IT

1. reactive it.

This is where nearly all companies are now—driven by problems that present themselves. IT waits for a ticket and then they want their L1 technician to solve the problem or pass it on as quickly as possible—usually in just a few minutes. If you’re extremely lucky, you can start to identify trends when you have an uptick in tickets for the same thing; otherwise, this is the traditional state of reactive ticket-taking as end users grapple with known computer problems or even suffer silently .

2. Proactive IT

I know that most large enterprises want to get from reactive IT to proactive IT. Reaching this milestone takes a robust dataset and a large list of problems (we call these sensors) that can flag and prioritize issues to get end users up and running again as quickly as possible. Of course, now you can automate remediation for these known problems.

3. Predictive IT

Next along the journey is using machine learning (ML) to identify unknown problems based on what the normal state of an environment should look like at any given time and, in turn, predicting issues. Anomaly detection lets IT spot when something wrong is going on, mitigating the issue before it spreads across the larger environment—like vapid Kens across the Kendom.

4. Automated Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

This is where the magic really happens—using ML models to determine deep commonalities across devices in real time to prevent the issue from causing widespread disruption. Because ML is only as good as its data, having a huge set of data from devices to analyze allows us to detect problems that would be far too tricky for a person to identify without a massive amount of hours (if ever). Not only can the problem be identified, but it can also be narrowed down to the devices affected, limiting the need to update "everything, everywhere, all at once."

5. Autonomous IT

This is the future of IT. Autonomous IT will automatically fix a problem based on the known root cause, revealed through data insights. It will provide IT teams with an "easy button" for fast response. AI can identify a problem, determine the likely root cause and then just fix it, freeing up the service desk to work on more strategic tasks. Autonomous IT will fill the talent and skills gap and level up L1 and even L2 support agents.

The Importance Of Trust In Reaching Autonomous IT

You can't progress along this journey without trust. If IT doesn't trust that the AI system is giving you the right data and the AI outputs look like noise, then IT can't start identifying problems proactively or predictively, let alone fix them.

Who is IT’s Gloria to pull off the veil of being stuck in the outdated world of reactive IT? The short answer is data. Not just any data but well-structured, well-labeled, high-quality data that will ensure the AI outputs relevant, explainable, actionable insights. You simply can't know what you don’t know—and you won’t know what you don’t know without collecting the data. Simple, right?

Autonomous IT in the real world? With AI that speaks IT, that’s possible!

Max Verstappen holds off Lando Norris to win Spanish GP and increase F1 lead

MONTMELÓ – Max Verstappen doesn’t need a dominant car to stay on course for a fourth straight Formula 1 title.

The Dutchman proved that on Sunday when he turned in a perfectly executed performance to fend off a hard-charging Lando Norris and win the Spanish Grand Prix.

Recommended Videos

“We should have won today," Norris said. "We had the quickest car.”

Mercedes and Norris' McLaren had both closed the gap with Verstappen's Red Bull in recent races, and Norris was gunning for a win after having edged Verstappen in qualifying to take pole position .

But the three-time champion muscled past Norris right off the starting grid, overtook early leader George Russell's Mercedes and then never looked back.

Verstappen was able to muster just enough pace over the final laps to cross first while Norris had to settle for second place.

Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes was third. It was the first podium of 2024 for the seven-time world champion, who is in his last season before joining Ferrari next season.

Verstappen said that his moves to get past Norris and Russell so early proved crucial so he could build an advantage and keep the hard-charging Norris at bay.

“What made the race was the beginning, taking the lead on Lap 2 and eking out the gap a little bit," Verstappen said. "Lando and McLaren were very, very fast today. We drove an aggressive strategy but it played out at the end.”

Verstappen got his seventh win in 10 races this season and claimed his third straight victory at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalonia. It was also win No. 61 in his career.

Verstappen has 219 points. Norris moved into second place with 150, overtaking Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, has 148 points after finishing the race fifth.

Norris put the blame on his poor start — when he lost two spots — for having to settle for second. The British driver got his first win at Miami in May and was aiming for a second victory. Norris rued what he considered another missed opportunity after he also came in second to Verstappen at the Canadian GP last round.

“I quite easily had the best car there,” Norris said. "I just didn’t do enough job off line. That one thing cost me everything.”

Norris was beaten from the starting line by Verstappen and Russell, who whipped around both rivals from his fourth-place start to take a surprise lead after the nearly 600-meter (yard) run to the first corner.

Verstappen was right behind Russell, however, and he soon swerved past him just after his team told him “(this) might be our best opportunity now.”

Once ahead, Verstappen managed his tires on the tough Barcelona track, and his Red Bull team pulled off two clean pit stops to avoid any costly mistakes.

Norris showed his great form by chasing down both Mercedes after a tire change. He got past Hamilton and then featured in a long duel with Russell midway through the race. Norris swerved past, Russell counterattacked to edge ahead, before Norris finally got in front.

The jousting also favored Verstappen with the seconds added to his advantage proving crucial later on.

Norris turned up the speed over the final 10 laps and was closing on the Dutchman, but he ran out of time and track. He crossed two seconds behind Verstappen.

Verstappen said he expects more tight races ahead, with the Austrian and British Grand Prix coming on consecutive weekends.

“We are struggling a little bit for that outright pace, and we didn’t have the best tire life today compared to Lando,” he said. “I can’t really say that we did something wrong in the race, but we just need to try and find more performance.”

Russell finished fourth, while it was a bad day for Leclerc and Carlos Sainz as neither Ferrari could contend with the front-runners. Sainz, the Spanish fan’s best hope for a win, finished sixth after twice being passed by Hamilton.

Norris’ McLaren partner Oscar Piastri was seventh. Sergio Pérez in the other Red Bull was eighth after his start from 11th place following a third-place grid penalty incurred in last round’s Canadian GP. Alpine pair Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon rounded out the top 10. Fernando Alonso was 12th in his Aston Martin.

New book makes bone-chilling revelations about Bryan Kohberger’s real target in University of Idaho murders

U niversity of Idaho murder suspect Brian Kohberger may have been targeting one of the roommates at the off-campus where four students were killed two years ago — and there are signs that his family had suspicions about his involvement before his arrest, according to a bombshell new book.

Bryan Kohberger, 29, was targeting college senior Madison Mogen when he allegedly broke into the off-campus house on King Road in Moscow in the early hours of Nov. 13, 2022, journalist Howard Blum suggests in his new book, “When the Night Comes Calling: A Requiem for the Idaho Student Murders.”

“I think Maddie was his target,” Blum told ABC News – noting that the suspect supposedly bypassed two other bedroom doors and made a beeline for Mogen’s when he entered the house.

“If he was just on a killing spree, it would have been natural, instinctive, to go to one of those doors,” Blum suggested.

“Instead he goes up this narrow staircase and he turns directly into Maddie’s room.”

Mogen, 21, was found dead on her bed alongside her best friend, Kaylee Goncalves, also 21. Downstairs on the second floor, housemate Xana Kernodle, 20, was killed alongside her boyfriend Ethan Chapin, 20.

All four victims suffered multiple stab wounds. A knife sheath was found near the bodies of Mogen and Goncalves.

Two surviving roommates – Bethany Funke and Dylan Mortensen – discovered the bloody scene hours later, and alerted police.

Kohberger – who was pursuing a doctorate in criminology in nearby Pullman at the time of the murders – was arrested at his parents’ home in Pennsylvania on Dec. 30.

At the time of the shocking arrest, the one-time high school outcast’s family was supposedly already suspicious about his possible involvement, Blum claimed.

“[Michael] has been reading the headlines – he knows that four students were killed 12 miles from his son’s house. He knows what a troubled son he has,” Blum told ABC of the suspect’s father, Michael Kohberger.

Michael was apparently “on edge” when he picked his son up at school a few weeks after the murders, he added.

The father and son infamously drove cross country from Washington to Pennsylvania – and were stopped twice by Idaho police .

According to Blum, one of Kohberger’s sisters even confronted their father about the possibility that he was involved in the Moscow murders – but the patriarch brushed off the concerns.

“He can’t confront it,” Blum suggested to ABC.

Kohberger was taken into custody when authorities stormed the family’s home just before the New Year.

He was extradited to Idaho, where he pleaded not guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of felony burglary.

Over a year later, Kohberger remains in custody. A trial date has not been set.

US is expected to send Ukraine $150 million more in munitions to fight off Russia’s attacks

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. is expected to announce Tuesday it is sending an additional $150 million in critically needed munitions to Ukraine, as Russia accuses Ukraine of using U.S.-provided munitions to strike inside Russia or Russian-held territory, according to two U.S. officials.

On Monday, Russia summoned the American ambassador to protest what it says was the use of U.S.-made advanced missiles in a Ukrainian attack on Crimea on Sunday that reportedly killed four people and wounded more than 150.

Crimea, which Russian seized from Ukraine in 2014 in a move that most of the world rejected as unlawful, long had been declared a fair target for Ukraine by its Western allies.

However, the Pentagon said last week that Ukraine’s military is also now allowed to use longer-range missiles provided by the U.S. to strike targets inside Russia if it is acting in self-defense. Since the outset of the war, the U.S. had maintained a policy of not allowing Ukraine to use the weapons it provided to hit targets on Russian soil for fear of further escalating the conflict.

The continued flow of U.S. munitions, which will be drawn from existing stockpiles, is intended to help Ukrainian forces repel intensified Russian attacks.

The upcoming shipment is expected to include munitions for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or HIMARS. That system is capable of firing the longer-range missiles from the Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMS , which Russia has said would prompt retaliation and risk escalating the conflict. One of the U.S. officials said they could not verify whether this aid package included ATACMS munitions, but said the aid did not include cluster munitions.

The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to provide details that had not yet been made public.

The package also includes anti-armor weapons, small arms and grenades and the highly sought-after 155 mm and 105 mm artillery rounds, among other support.
