Please note that we are unable to provide refunds under these circumstances, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. However, you can still explore the exhibits, the Visitors' Center, and other monuments within the park.

Hawaii Tours FAQ

The ideal stay on Oahu can vary, but a common recommendation is about 5 to 7 days. This allows you to explore the island’s major attractions, enjoy some beach time, and get a taste of its unique culture. Of course, the more time you have, the more you can discover!

Oahu is beautiful year-round, but the best time to visit for great weather and fewer crowds is typically from mid-April to early June and September to mid-December. These are the shoulder seasons, providing a more relaxed and pleasant experience.

It takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hours to drive around the entire island if you’re taking the scenic route without many stops. However, exploring the island thoroughly with stops at various attractions will take a full day or more. For reference, our Circle Island Tour lasts around 9 hours.

Guided tours offer you the expertise of local guides who can provide insights, take you to the best spots, and ensure you make the most of your visit. Whether it’s a historical tour, a hiking adventure, or a cultural exploration, guided tours can make your Oahu experience truly memorable.

Among the multitude of tours available on Oahu, the two most iconic and highly sought-after experiences are the Circle Island Tours and Pearl Harbor Tours. These tours have consistently garnered immense popularity among visitors, offering distinct and compelling attractions that captivate the hearts of tourists from around the world.

While several transportation options are available, guided bus tours stand out as the most comfortable and economical means of experiencing all that Hawaii has to offer. Guided bus tours provide an unbeatable combination of comfort, convenience, and affordability. They offer travelers a stress-free and leisurely way to explore Hawaii’s most famous attractions and hidden gems.

For your first visit to Hawaii, Oahu is an ideal choice due to its well-developed infrastructure, making it easy to explore the island. Oahu offers a wide range of accommodation options, from luxury resorts to budget-friendly choices, and is equipped with modern amenities. You can enjoy diverse activities, from relaxing on famous beaches like Waikiki to exploring cultural sites like Pearl Harbor. The island’s culinary scene and cultural experiences are rich and varied, providing a well-rounded introduction to Hawaii’s offerings. Whether you’re interested in relaxation, adventure, or cultural immersion, Oahu has something to offer every traveler.

Hawaii’s weather is characterized by a tropical climate, offering warm temperatures year-round. Coastal areas typically experience temperatures in the 70s and 80s Fahrenheit (20s to 30s Celsius) during the day, with relatively mild fluctuations between seasons. Trade winds provide a pleasant breeze, especially in the summer. While Hawaii does have wet and dry seasons, rain showers are common but brief, with the wetter season occurring from November to March. The leeward (west) sides of the islands tend to be drier, while the windward (east) sides receive more rainfall. Overall, Hawaii offers pleasant weather for outdoor activities and beach visits throughout the year.

Choosing the best Hawaiian island to visit depends on your preferences. Oahu is great for first-timers, offering a mix of culture, activities, and infrastructure. Maui is known for its natural beauty, including the Road to Hana and Haleakalā. The Big Island (Hawaii) is perfect for adventure seekers with its volcanoes and diverse landscapes. Kauai is a haven for nature lovers, famous for its lush, pristine scenery. Molokai and Lanai are quieter and less touristy, ideal for a more relaxed experience.

Pearl Harbor Tours

Oahu Circle Island Tours

Pickup: 6:30-7:15 AM

Duration: 9-11 hours

8 max (for shared tour)

Fitness: Easy

  • Pearl Harbor - Hawaii's most popular attraction
  • Scenic circle tour through the center of the island, along the North Shore, and down the eastern coast
  • 30+ sights include pineapple & coffee farms, beaches, mountains, scenic lookouts, military cemetery
  • Small group of 8 max (often less), or private tour
  • Includes expert local guide, hot lunch, and door-to-door transport

Experience the highlights of Oahu on a full day “circle island” tour with knowledgeable local guides in a small group setting.

In newer premium vehicles, you will be picked up from your lodging and start the day learning about famous Honolulu sites and Hawaii's most visited attraction, Pearl Harbor. At Pearl Harbor, you will watch a moving 20 minute film, travel by boat to the Arizona Memorial* where you will disembark on this hallowed gravesite for over a thousand U.S. service members, and explore various exhibits about the surprise attack that shaped world history.

After a couple of hours at Pearl Harbor, you'll head up through the middle of the island, where you’ll first stop at Green World Coffee Farm (with coffee and chocolate tastings) and then at the popular Dole Plantation, the last remaining farm for pineapples which have an important history in Hawaii. After a tasty made-to-order hot lunch at a highly rated local food stand, you’ll visit the famous North Shore beaches, including possible turtle sightings on the beach.

During the afternoon, you'll head down the eastern side (“windward side”) with stunning coastal views on one side (including of Chinaman’s Hat) and scenic farms and mountains on the other, with many picture-taking stops and a chance to purchase some local fruit.

Additional afternoon highlights include a Macadamia Nut Farm (with tastings), a historical Hawaiian place of worship (Pu'u o Mahuka Heiau), Pali Lookout, and the National Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl Crater (over 53,000 veterans laid to rest there), before returning to your lodging in the early evening.

Looking for a more in-depth Pearl Harbor Tour? Check out our  full Pearl Harbor experience  which also includes the Missouri battleship and Bowfin submarine; you can then pair with one of our Circle Island Tours  on a separate day.

TravelShack's Choice

Why this tour is recommended over others.

  • For the shared tour, the smaller group (4-8 people, whereas others are often more than 25) means more personalized attention from the guide, better group camaraderie, less time waiting around for everyone to get on and off, and more time for stops

* Arizona Memorial Tickets

Due to challenges related to procuring limited Arizona Memorial tickets through the Park lottery system, there are now  2 options:   1) one that has guaranteed tickets for the AZ Memorial. This is the (with AZ) option in the booking form and is $219/person. These dates are very limited, and usually only shows within 3 days of a tour date but sometimes within 2 months. 2) one where visiting the AZ Memorial is not guaranteed. This is the  (AZ if possible) option and is $199/person. However, as long as the date is more than 3 days out, there is still a good chance (~90%) AZ tickets will be procured (at no extra charge). In the small chance the tour is unable to secure these tickets via the lottery system, you would still spend a similar amount of time at Pearl Harbor -- to view the historical film, see the AZ from shore with commentary from your guide, and with more time to visit multiple exhibits and memorials.

If you are only interested in this tour with AZ tickets to actually step on the memorial and no available "(with AZ)" dates work for you, then your options are: 1) Submit our form and we will contact you about any new available dates. 2) Check back within 2 months of your trip when more dates with guaranteed AZ tickets may be available. You can also check back within 3 days of a tour date for last-minute openings. 3) Make a booking and then contact us 3 days prior to the tour date to doublecheck if tickets were procured. If not, you could reschedule or cancel/refund (as long as more than 48 hours prior to the tour). 4) Book our more in-depth  Pearl Harbor Tour  which includes guaranteed AZ tickets for all dates. You could then book our similar Circle Island Tour (but without Pearl Harbor) for another date, since there is no overlap, and you'd get the most complete Circle Island and Pearl Harbor experiences.

Key Details

  • Door-to-door transport on spacious modern tour van (details & exceptions below)
  • Knowledgeable guide with deep local ties
  • Guaranteed Arizona Memorial tickets procured in advance (unless noted per notice above)
  • Cooked-to-order hot local lunch
  • Local snacks, tastings, and drinks

Free pickups from virtually all lodgings in Waikiki / Honolulu. The most common lodgings can be selected from the drop-down list at checkout.

Honolulu airport pickups/dropoffs are available (7:15 am, with dropoff around 5:30 pm). However, luggage should generally not be brought on the tour.

Arriving or departing on a cruise ship ? The tour picks up at the terminal at 7 am and drops off around 5:30 pm. If you are unsure this fits with your cruise ship, please book our shorter Circle Island Tour which picks up at 8 am and drops off around 5 pm.

Staying on the West Side ( Ko Olina , Kapolei, Ewa Beach), the North Shore, or anywhere else outside Honolulu? You can meet at Pearl Harbor (free parking) at 7:20 am or in Honolulu (Ala Moana shopping center, free parking) at 6:30 am. Or you can book a private tour and it will include pickup (except for North Shore pickups, please email us ).

More details can be found in the FAQs below.

Although Pearl Harbor is open to the public, the benefits with visiting it with this tour include:

  • Round-trip transportation
  • Additional history and context provided by knowledgeable guide (note: this is mostly on the drive to Pearl Harbor, as there are restrictions with tour guides at Pearl Harbor, specifically with the Arizona Memorial)
  • Expedited check-in process and guaranteed access to Arizona Memorial. The tour has secured limited advance tickets set aside for commercial tours for visiting the Arizona Memorial (accessible only by boat). Advance tickets sell out online quickly; you generally need to be at your computer at a certain hour either exactly 2 months or 1 day in advance. Or sometimes you can try for same-day standby tickets by waiting in line once you arrive (7 am recommended, as tickets sell out). With the tour, you enter right away, avoiding wait times and hassle and the risk of not getting tickets.
  • Efficient tour at Pearl Harbor (~2 hours) so you have an informative and rewarding time without needing to spend a large chunk of your precious vacation day
  • There is so much to see on the popular circle island route. This tour has been optimized by those with decades of experience and will ensure you see the most with high quality stops than would likely be possible on your own in one day. Proper pacing means you will spend the right amount of time on each stop without running out of time before dark or rushing through.
  • Make a personal connection with a local guide with deep ties to Oahu, which will bring to life your Hawaii sightseeing experience.
  • Visit some off-the-beaten-path sites based on your guide’s local insider knowledge
  • Unfortunately car break-ins do occur on this route, and it’s less stressful and safer with a secured tour vehicle.

This map shows a general representation of the circle island tour route. The tour usually goes clockwise. This map does not show Ko Olina lodging pick-ups, which may also be possible.

The following are a mixture of stops (“S") and drive-bys ("D"), listed in chronological order. Stops in bold are longer (30-45 minutes), whereas other stops are less. Please note that this itinerary is not guaranteed and can vary a bit, depending on weather, traffic, time, and the make-up and interests of the group, as well as possible temporary changes during COVID-19. The guide/driver has some flexibility, so feel free to speak up on your tour to express your interests, as well as to make a note with your booking.

Tripler Army Medical Center (D) Pacific Fuel Storage Bunkers (D) Kamehameha Schools (D) Fort Shafter (D) Pearl Harbor / Waterfront Memorial / Arizona Memorial (S) (~2 hours) Schofield Barracks (D) Wheeler Airfield (D) Lake Wilson (D) Green World Coffee Farm & Gift Shop (S) Dole Pineapple Plantation & Gift Shop (S) Haleiwa Beach with possible turtle sightings (S) Haleiwa Town - Hot Lunch and Shops (S) Pua’ena Point (S) Laniakea Beach (D) Waimea Valley / Waimea Bay (S/D) *  Pu’u O Mahuka Heiau State Monument with view of Waimea Bay (D/S)  Sunset Beach (S) Chun’s Reef (D) Kahuku Fruit Stands (S) Morman Tabernacle in Laie (D) Punalu’u (D) Kahana Valley (D) Kualoa Beach Park / Chinaman’s Hat (S) Macadamia Nut Farm & Gift Shop (S) Waikane (D) Pali Lookout (S) ** National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl Crater (D) ***

* Does not enter Waimea Valley botanical gardens ** Sometimes not visited due to road closure or traffic *** Tours are not permitted to stop here, only drive through

Shared Tour

The standard shared tour takes up to 8 people (usually on a van designed for 14) and is $199/person without Arizona Memorial or $219/person with Arizona Memorial.

Due to the small size of the tour (8 people or less) and that a car seat is legally required for those age 7 & under (therefore taking up at least one seat), children are the same price as adults.

Please note that online booking for a next day tour ends around 11 am, so if you can only do tomorrow and it's after 11 am, you will need to contact us to see if it's possible.

Private Tour

The price of a private tour with Arizona Memorial tickets guaranteed is $1,699 for up to 8 people and then $199 for any additional people (up to 14 people total; for larger parties, please contact us ). If Arizona Memorial tickets are not guaranteed (most dates), then the price is $1,399 for up to 8 people and then $179 for any additional people.

If you can only do a date within 24 hours (i.e. tomorrow), private tours are not currently bookable online, but please contact us as it may still be possible. Also, if none of the available dates work for you, there is often flexibility for private tours in opening other dates; please contact us.

The Private Tour in our booking calendar is only available on dates with guaranteed AZ tickets. To book a private tour on dates without the AZ, please just book at least 8 seats to make it private.

For the shared tour, in most cases you will be in a modern Ford Transit passenger van designed for 14 passengers but with only 8 tour guests maximum (often less). However, if there are only 4 people booked on the tour, it may be in a smaller vehicle (but luxury and spacious).

The Transit tour van has comfortable seats, air-conditioning, and large windows. It's not a low-ceiling cargo van like some other tour companies. Seating is mostly attached, but individual seats are molded. Couples will end up having their own row (designed for 3-4) which is better for maneuverability and comfort than if it was stand-alone "captain seats" and so they can easily see views on either side.

For private tours, larger groups of 7+ will definitely be in the Transit tour van. Smaller groups may be assigned a spacious and luxury smaller vehicle (e.g., Chevy Suburban, Ford Expedition), although if a preference for the Transit van is made at booking, we can likely confirm you for the larger vehicle.

  • Not interested in Pearl Harbor? Then check out our stand-alone circle island tour (and compare with this tour ); it's essentially the same tour, but about 1.5-2 hours shorter without Pearl Harbor.
  • Mostly interested in Pearl Harbor? Check out our full Pearl Harbor experience (and compare with this tour ). Or consider pairing with the stand-alone Circle Island Tour on separate days.
  • Not able to do an available day? If you're looking for a private tour, please contact us with the number of people, the dates that would work for you, and your lodging, and we may be able to open up a tour for you, even possibly for tomorrow. If you're looking for a shared tour, please check the private tour calendar for dates that we may be able to open for a shared tour, and if one of those works, then contact us. Or please consider our stand-alone Circle Island or Pearl Harbor tours.
  • On occasion, the minimum of 4 paid seats for the shared tour may not be met, in which case we will contact you with options if we are unable to move others. To minimize this risk and you are booking within the next couple of months, if possible please choose a date that shows 6 spots or less available ; otherwise if it doesn't say how many seats are left, it means you are the first to sign up. For a tour with no minimums, consider our large group Circle Island Tour .
  • In the booking calendar for the shared tour, there may be some dates that require booking a minimum of 4 spots, especially within the next couple of weeks. This is because the tour requires 4 paid seats to go out at the shared tour price. If you are less than 4, these dates won't show up, but you may want to select 4 spots to see if any additional dates show up . You then have the option to book 4 spots in order to book that date and make a note at checkout if no one else signs up whether you would: 1) cancel or change dates, 2) proceed as a heavily discounted private tour by paying for all 4 seats. In the meantime, if another party signs up to meet the minimum, your final charge would just be for your actual party size (e.g., 2) versus all 4 seats. Alternative to making such a booking (preferred), you can contact us and we can keep you posted if we get another booking to allow you to book only your exact number of people on the shared tour.

Punchbowl Cemetery is an immensely moving place, guaranteed to put a lump in your throat.

Where does this tour pick up from and at what time?

For those staying in Waikiki/Honolulu, the tour picks up from virtually all lodgings in this area.

Lodging pickups are around 6:30-7 am (the exact time will be included in your confirmation email) and drop-offs 5-6 pm, depending on your exact lodging, traffic, pace of group, etc.

For those staying in Ko Olina, Kapolei, Ewa Beach, or Waianae, please meet at Pearl Harbor (~15-30 min via Uber/Lyft, or free parking) at 7:20 am. Or you can book a private tour to include pickup/dropoff at your lodging (except Waianae).

If you are staying on the eastern coast (e.g., Kaneohe, Kailua), the North Shore (e.g., Turtle Bay Resort), or elsewhere, you can meet at Pearl Harbor or you can meet in Honolulu, at the Ala Moana Shopping Center (6:30 am), which also has free parking.

This tour can pick up at the Honolulu cruise terminal at 7 am. However, disembarking the cruise ship can take 30-60 minutes, so please factor that in.

Can I do this tour if I am doing the Pride of America cruise?

If you were to do it at the beginning of your trip, we recommend prior to your Saturday departure if possible. If you prefer Saturday, you would need to do a private tour to ensure you get dropped off at the Pride of America by 5 pm, or if it's within the next week and you can't do another day, you can contact us and we may have some flexibility. Alternatively, our  Pearl Harbor only tour  would drop you off by 3-4 pm.

If at the end of your cruise, Saturday would be too tight, so please choose a later date if you are spending additional nights in Oahu. Alternatively, please book our Circle Island Tour or Pearl Harbor Tour , either which would work due to a later start time.

Please note the tour typically does not like to take luggage due to security & liability concerns.

Can I be picked up or dropped off at the airport?

Yes, but please make sure to arrive in time for pick-up at 7-7:15 am and depart after being dropped off around 6 pm. If you are also spending a night in Oahu, then it is recommended to store the luggage at your lodging prior to the tour. You could also consider storing or checking in your luggage early at the airport (more info  here ). Due to security & liability reasons, the tour prefers not to take luggage on the tour, although exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis for private tours.

Can I bring luggage on tour?

In general, the tour cannot bring luggage, for liability/security reasons and space constraints. Some options include: 1) Leaving at your hotel front desk even if you've checked out that morning 2) Storing at a location as listed on Bounce 3) Book a date where you are not constrained by luggage

Please note that storing at the airport (more info here ) wouldn't generally work since it currently doesn't open until 8 am and airport tour pickup would be 7:15 am. You may want to consider our stand-alone Circle Island or Pearl Harbor tours for later pickup in order to take advantage of the airport baggage storage service.

If necessary, there may be some flexibility with private tours.

What’s for lunch?

Lunch is at a popular food stand, Big Wave Shrimp, on the North Shore. You can order off the menu, and an entree and drink is included in the price of the tour. The menu includes a variety of shrimp styles (Garlic, Crunchy, Spicy, Peeled, Lemon Peppered), Steak and Short Ribs dishes, fried chicken wings, fish & chips, calamari, and veggie spring rolls for vegetarians. Served with rice, salad, and local pineapple. Seasonings have Thai and Japanese influences. Big Wave Shrimp has been featured in multiple tv shows, including on the Travel Channel, and has received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence (4.5 star rating).

Gluten-free eaters can have boiled shrimp and request no dressing. They can accommodate those with food allergies, including shellfish allergy and nut allergies (no nuts used). Nevertheless, if this eatery is not a good fit for you, there are nearby food stands you can order from (note: you will be responsible for paying at other places).

What is the age minimum?

There is no age minimum.

Hawaii law requires children under age 4 to ride in a child safety seat and children ages 4-7 to ride in a child safety seat or a booster seat. You may bring your own, or please select during checkout for the tour to provide ($20).

Please consider the length of the tour, much of it in a vehicle, in determining whether this tour is a good fit for your child and that your child won't significantly detract from the experience of any other passengers (if non-private tour). The guide does make an effort to engage and customize the tour for any children on the tour.

How much physical exertion is on this tour?

There are some short walks, but these are optional and the tour guide will use their judgment in determining which stops are most appropriate for the guests on the tour. At the time of booking, there is a question to indicate any physical limitations.

Is this tour appropriate for wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, or strollers?

Although the tour is generally accessible for most physical abilities, wheelchairs / scooters / walkers are generally not permitted on the shared tour; however, if you are a group of 4+ and have only 1-2 items (collapsible), an exception with the shared tour may be possible. Private tours can take collapsible versions. However, please note that some of the stops are not suitable for such items and therefore you may have to stay back at the van if you are dependent on a wheeled assistance device, although with private tours there can be some flexibility on stops Please note any significant physical limitations by answering the question at online checkout.

Will I be on the same van as others traveling with me if they book separately?

If booking separately (to pay separately), please answer the question at checkout about you being with another party to ensure you are on the same van.

Are there restrictions on what I can bring to Pearl Harbor?

For Pearl Harbor, you are welcome to bring cameras, water bottles, wallets, and other small items, but bags are not allowed on site for security reasons. Exceptions to this include bags for medical necessities and clear see-through bags. You may bring bags on the general tour for the day, but they will need to remain locked in the van during the Pearl Harbor portion (~2 hours).

Is there swimming on this tour?

This is more a sightseeing tour, with a lot of ground to cover. There is a good amount of time outside the van, including visiting a few beautiful North Shore beaches, but there aren't swimming opportunities due to time constraints and liability/safety concerns (note: the North Shore beaches can also be quite rough and are more for surfing, especially during the winter). The beach stops are more for the scenery than sunbathing or water play.

How long has this tour been operating?

The tour operator has been running highly rated private customized tours for groups through high end resorts on Oahu for a decade. Starting in Fall 2018, TravelShack partnered closely with them to develop an optimized standard itinerary and small group tour to allow more people to have a VIP experience at great value, with easy booking through TravelShack. More recently we've also added a private tour option.

Taxes added at checkout

  • 4.712% Hawaii/Oahu sales tax (GET)

Cancellation Policy

  • Refundable until 48 hours prior to tour time for Shared tours; 72 hours for Private tours; 1 week for parties of 10+
  • Any exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis. If members of your party get sick, an Oahu-based doctor's note will be requested.
  • If there is a weather cancellation, you will be contacted to reschedule or receive a full refund.
  • On rare occasions, the National Park Service which operates the boats to the Arizona Memorial may cancel visits to the Memorial due to conditions, such as high winds. If the tour is given enough notice (i.e. before the tour has initiated), you will be informed and given the option to reschedule or cancel if you'd like. However, if there is little notice and the tour has already commenced, there will not be any refunds (including partial) and the tour will be of similar duration with extra time elsewhere.
  • On occasion, the minimum of 4 paid seats for the shared tour may not be met, in which case we will contact you with options if we are unable to move others. Tip: to see how many people are already booked on a tour, click the date and if anyone is already booked, it will say how many seats are left (out of 8). For a tour with no minimums, consider our  large group Circle Island Tour .

Pearl Harbor and Circle Island Combo Tour

Not everyone can take more than a few days off to enjoy the Hawaiian Islands. Most of us are at the mercy of jobs and other responsibilities that keep us tethered close to our home base. With available time at a premium, it can be tricky to try and fit as much as possible into a few days in paradise.

You want to see and do as much as you can, and a great way to do that is by booking a Pearl Harbor tour that’s much more than a lesson on the events of December 7, 1941. This tour is perfect for people who want to fill their day with as much as possible without having to bounce from one tour to the next. After visiting Pearl Harbor and paying your respects to those lost on the Day of Infamy, the Pearl Harbor and Circle Island Combo Tour takes you on a journey around the beautiful island of Oahu to multiple must-see locations.

This is the best way we know to experience the natural wonders and landmarks scattered around the island that help give Oahu its unique character.

Pearl Harbor and Circle Island Combo Tour Stops

Pearl harbor.

USS Arizona Memorial shuttle boat

USS Arizona Memorial shuttle boat

Your day starts bright and early, with a visit to the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, where you can explore the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center and see the two exhibits, Road to War and Attack!

After the Visitor Center, there's a screening of a 23-minute documentary film on the tragic events of December 7, 1941, after which a US Navy shuttle boat ride takes you to the USS Arizona Memorial, which sits above the fallen battleship (conditions permitting). Take a moment to honor the 1,177 men who gave their lives when their ship exploded and sank on that “date which will live in infamy.”

Dole Plantation

Dole Plantation is one of the stops on the Pearl Harbor and Circle Island Combo tour

It’s quite a contrast to the experience at Pearl Harbor, but the Dole Plantation, located to the north of Honolulu, is your next stop. Here you can learn all about the Hawaiian pineapple industry, and get a taste of the sweet fruit that played such a large role in Hawaiian history.

The Dole Plantation is a wonderfully scenic slice of Oahu, with a giant plant maze manicured into the landscaping.

Oahu's North Shore

After the Dole Plantation, the tour continued to Oahu’s famed North Shore. There are many things the northern coast is known for, but big-wave surfing is at the top of the list. If you’re traveling in the winter, you're likely to see 25-foot waves, and sometimes even higher! When the conditions are good, the waters are teeming with professional surfers trying to navigate the monster waves.

Even when the waves aren't pumping, people come from all over the world to relax on the golden sandy beaches of the North Shore.

La’ie Point

Next, the tour makes its way around to the eastern coast of Oahu, toward La’ie Point. The scenic views from the tip of this jutting landmass are perfect for photos. Pay close attention and you may be able to snap pictures of people cliff-jumping.

Chinaman’s Hat

Mokolii, better known as Chinaman's Hat

Mokolii, better known as Chinaman's Hat

Also known by its Hawaiian name Mokolii, Chinaman’s Hat is a distinctive natural formation jutting out of the water just off the coast of Oahu near Kualoa Regional Beach Park. You won’t be able to reach it by boat during your tour, but just gazing out at the incredible green and tan peak is a rewarding experience.

Pali Lookout

Pearl Harbor is a piece of relatively recent history, and the Dole Plantation plantation takes you back to the days of the Hawaiian Monarchy. Your next stop on the Pearl Harbor and Circle Island Combo tour a bit of much older Hawaiian history at the Pali Lookout. This breathtaking spot, which overlooks the Koolau Mountain Range and the beauty of central Oahu, has connections to King Kamehameha the Great and the birth of the unified Hawaiian Kingdom.

Hanauma Bay

Hanauma Bay

Your next stop is Hanauma Bay. This stunning little slice of Oahu is a crescent-shaped beach on the southeastern corner of Oahu known for being a prime location for snorkeling. Many visitors decide to return on their own to this magical spot.

Diamond Head Crater

On the way back to your hotel, you get a fantastic view of Diamond Head Crater, the iconic formation just to the east of Waikiki.

It makes for a long day, but what a day it is! The Pearl Harbor and Circle Island Combo tour is a great way to get a taste of lots of different places around the island. Many visitors use this tour as a kind of scouting expedition, to help them decide which sites they want to return to later for a more in-depth experience.

By embarking on our Ultimate Pearl Harbor Circle Island Tour, you’ll spend the day with an E Noa guide. This person’s knowledge and love of Oahu will leave you wishing you had time for more adventures! We include all admission fees in our tour. And we’ll make sure you get lunch!

Day Begins with USS Arizona Memorial Visit We’ll start at sunrise by heading out to relive a striking historical event at the World War II Valor in the Pacific Monument and USS Arizona Memorial. In this quietly moving place, you’ll experience the tragedy and heroism associated with the surprise attack by Imperial Japan that propelled America into World War II.

On to North Shore for Dole Plantation, Famous Surfing Beaches Lunch stop at Pounders Restaurant; meal included. Guests will choose a meal and drink from a special farm-to-table lunch menu.

After passing through the center of Oahu and alongside Wheeler Airfield, one of the first targets of the Japanese aerial attack, we’ll head toward the North Shore. The famous Dole Plantation provides a refreshing stop. Feed koi in the fishpond and enjoy a sweet frozen pineapple DoleWhip®.

Catch the laid-back local rhythm of the North Shore as you pass through the small towns with just the right mix of surfing culture and country island-style. Sunset Beach. Banzai Pipeline. Waimea Bay. The shoreline’s famous names come to life as your guide shares fascinating local facts and tales.

Time to stretch your legs and discover where old Laie came to life! The Hukilau Marketplace is a vintage throwback to Hawaii of the 1950s where nostalgic foods, handmade goods and friendly locals give you a taste of the North Shore’s “good old days.” You’ll experience a complimentary lunch and get a taste of island delights.

View Oahu from Stunning Pali Lookout Turning towards the majestic power of the island’s lush and rugged mountain range, you rise up to the final battlefield where King Kamehameha fought to unify the Hawaiian Islands. Standing high on the windswept Nuʻuanu Pali cliffs, you can feel its wild and tragic history, an ancient parallel to the morning’s Pearl Harbor stories of bravery in the face of conflict.

Bodysurfing Beaches, Halona Blowhole, Hanuma Bay Lie Ahead Waimanalo. Sherwood Forest. Makapu’u. Sandy Beach. These are the bodysurfing playgrounds that draw locals from all around the island. Beware: taking on these dangerous waves isn’t as easy as it looks!

Seabirds soar above the island’s windswept coastline where ancient lava fields descend into the sea. Halona Blowhole, a natural underground lava tube, funnels plumes of ocean water into the sky in rhythm with the sea. Hanauma Bay hovers on the eastern tip of the island. This living coral reef provides a safe haven for fish and marine animals.

By early afternoon we’ll turn back towards Honolulu as we cruise around the slopes of Diamond Head, Hawaii’s most famous landmark.

Don’t forget your camera for photo opportunities galore. The young and young-at-heart will be entertained by island folklore and history shared by your E Noa tour guide throughout the day. It’s the complete island experience for the whole family.

Best things to do in oahu for your hawaii honeymoon.

Once you’ve secured your flights, accommodations, and car rental, you’ll probably want to start planning your Oahu itinerary. Here are some of the most romantic things to do in Oahu for couples celebrating an anniversary or a kid-free getaway!

Check Out an Oahu Sunrise

One of the best things to do in Hawaii for a honeymoon is to watch the sunrise. Oahu is known for having some pretty epic sunrises, and because of the time difference from the Mainland, chances are you’ll be up pretty early on your first couple of mornings.

You might as well take advantage! Head to the East side of Oahu and score a front-row seat to one of the most romantic sunrises.

Make sure to bring your camera because you’re going to want to capture this special moment. Trust me, it’s an experience you’ll never forget!

Scenic Drive Around Oahu

If you’re doing a honeymoon on Oahu, I highly recommend taking a Circle Island Tour . That way, you both can sit back and take in the amazing views (plus enjoy some adult beverages when you stop).

Otherwise, you can totally drive it on your own. Hit up top Oahu attractions like the famous North Shore , Lanikai Beach, Kualoa Ranch , and Waikiki .

Ride an ATV Through Jurassic Valley

Are you a fan of Jurassic Park or want to see where some awesome movies were filmed in Hawaii? Then you probably want to do an ATV ride at Kualoa Ranch .

It’s technically a UTV, so you’ll be able to snuggle up next to your honey as you drive through all three valleys at Kualoa Ranch. There are places to hop out and take photos of movie sets or jaw-dropping views of the island.

This is such a popular activity that you’ll need to book it at least a month before your trip.

Indulge in a Couples Massage

A couple’s massage is one of the most romantic Oahu honeymoon activities. What could be more perfect than listening to the soothing rhythmic sounds of the ocean while the Hawaiian trade winds gently blow?

You can schedule this for your arrival day as the perfect way to get into vacation mode! Or plan this after a day of hiking or exploring to soothe your tired muscles. Either way, you and your sweetheart are sure to enjoy this luxurious experience.

You can find couples’ massages at many Oahu resorts, such as the Four Season Ko Olina, the Royal Hawaiian, or the Moana Surfrider. So go ahead and indulge in some rest and relaxation on your Oahu honeymoon!

Visit an Oahu Winery

Oahu is home to Oeno Winemaking , the only winery on the island. They offer tastings of their delicious wines as well as an opportunity to create your own label. That means you can design a Hawaii honeymoon wine label!

If you’re looking to branch out and try something other than wine, head over to Bottleheads. They offer tastings of beer, spirits, and wine.

And if you want to try Hawaii’s only indigenous alcohol, be sure to swing by Island Distillers . They offer tastings of their award-winning concoction. So whether you’re a wine connoisseur or just looking to branch out and try something new, Oahu has you covered!

Shark Cage Diving

For adventurous couples looking for something unique to do on their honeymoon, Oahu’s North Shore is a must-see. Home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, the North Shore is also home to a large population of sharks.

Fortunately, there’s no need to worry about becoming a snack – visitors can safely see these creatures from inside a cage.

This tour is extra cool because there’s an option to just observe. That way, if only one person wants to actually go into the cage, the other person can watch from the boat. Plus, it’s the original Oahu shark cage diving tour so they know what they are doing.

Oahu Helicopter Tour

Oahu is an amazing place full of natural beauty. From the moment you land, you will be in awe of the stunning views. Oahu is home to majestic waterfalls , stunning mountains, and places not accessible by car.

Book a private helicopter tour for a special Hawaii honeymoon excursion you’ll remember for years to come!

Check Out Local Hawaiian Musicians

One of the most romantic things to do on Oahu is to listen to live Hawaiian music.

You can find live music at many tiki bars and restaurants across the island, including Duke’s Canoe Club and Kani Ka Pila Grille. These venues feature well-known Hawaiian artists every night, so you can sit back and enjoy the sounds of the islands while sipping on a Mai Tai or two.

If you’re looking for a truly romantic experience, listening to live Hawaiian music on your Oahu honeymoon is a must.

Do an Oahu Photoshoot

Oahu has everything you could want in a tropical honeymoon destination: gorgeous beaches, lush rainforests, spirited nightlife , and plenty of romantic Oahu honeymoon activities. And what better way to remember your Oahu honeymoon than with beautiful professional photos?

Oahu vacation photography is super trendy right now, so don’t settle for iPhone selfies. Book a professional photographer to capture some romantic moments on the beach or at another gorgeous Oahu destination.

Hawaii honeymoon photography is a great way to decorate your home with memories of your special trip or to make a unique honeymoon photobook.

Either way, you’ll be glad you had a professional Oahu honeymoon photographer capture your memories of this magical island.

We love working with Flytographer . They have affordable photographers throughout the islands.

It’s super simple to request and book Hawaii honeymoon photographers and you might even get the photos back before the end of your honeymoon!

Save $25 on your Flytographer photo shoot

Reserve a Private Pool Cabana

Many resorts offer private cabanas that you can rent for the day. Sometimes you don’t even need to stay at the resort to book one.

These cabanas come with private butler service and are the perfect place to spend the day sipping tropical drinks and snacking on Hawaiian pupus.

You can rent private cabanas at Turtle Bay Resort, Alohilani Resort, Four Seasons Ko Olina, and more.

Swim with Dolphins

Oahu is a great place for an epic honeymoon experience, and one of the most memorable activities you can do is swim with dolphins !

There are several options available, from playing with them to fully getting in the water and going for a swim.

Dolphin Quest at the Kahala Hotel offers quick dolphin encounters or you can spend up to an hour with these beautiful animals. You can even reserve a week-long experience where you help train mammals!

So whether you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience or a unique way to celebrate your love, swimming with dolphins in Hawaii is sure to create lasting memories.

Book a Snorkel Tour

One of the coolest ways to snorkel in Oahu is by booking an Oahu snorkel boat tour . This one takes you to check out sea turtles and hidden spots in North Shore Oahu. It’s sure to be a highlight of your Oahu honeymoon!

And make it a bit more special by bringing along an underwater camera so you can snap a few romantic photos during your experience!

Go Horseback Riding

If you’re looking for a truly unique experience, why not go on a horseback ride? Not only will you get to enjoy the stunning scenery, but you’ll also be able to chat with your local guide and get tips for other romantic places to go in Oahu.

And if you’re feeling adventurous, there are plenty of trails to explore.

This private Oahu horseback riding tour includes a picnic lunch. It doesn’t get more romantic than that!

Attend an Oahu Luau

Oahu is well known for its nightlife and there are plenty of options for Oahu honeymoon activities. Booking tickets to a luau is one of the best Hawaiian nightlife options!

Not only will you get drinks and dinner, but a traditional Hawaiian show’ll also entertain you. Plus, honeymooners are asked to come up on stage at many luaus!

If you’re looking for the best Oahu luaus for honeymooners, Toa Luau up in North Shore Oahu and the Experience Nutridge Luau in Honolulu are great options. These are smaller and more intimate events, unlike the large, commercialized ones.

So if you want an authentic Hawaiian experience, book tickets to one of these Oahu luaus! You won’t regret it.

Soak up Some Sun at a Beach

Oahu is the perfect place to spend your honeymoon if you’re looking for beautiful beaches. You can easily spend an entire day of your honeymoon to Oahu just soaking in the sunshine and listening to the waves crash.

To make it extra romantic, bring a large beach towel for two, a beach umbrella, and enjoy a picnic with food from your favorite local restaurant. It’s also perfect for a Hawaii beach proposal (if you haven’t popped the question yet)!

Some of the prettiest beaches in Oahu include Lanikai Beach, Sunset Beach, and Waimanalo Bay Beach Park. And, of course, don’t forget to pack your sunscreen!

Oahu Honeymoon Activities FAQs

Absolutely! In fact, it’s one of the best islands in Hawaii for a honeymoon because there are so many activities, restaurants, and places to stay for honeymooners. You can stay in the hustle and bustle of Waikiki or retreat to a quieter part of the island like Turtle Bay or Ko Olina.

There are lots of romantic resorts in Oahu that are perfect for Hawaii honeymoons! In Waikiki, the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and the Surfjack Hotel are popular. There’s also Turtle Bay Resort in North Shore Oahu and the Four Seasons Ko Olina in Kapolei.

Ideally, you’ll have at least 5-7 days on Oahu for your honeymoon. That gives enough time to do a few adventures, see some attractions, try some amazing food, and have time to relax at the pool.
