What you will visit: Quad Biking Adventure A quad bike is a compact, off-road, four-wheeled, powered vehicle derived from a motorcycle. Only passengers with a valid driver's license can operate the quad, and riders are not permitted. The terrain is often rugged, so be prepared for a rough but exciting ride. A basic demonstration will be offered by your guide, and you'll ride for 3 hours caravan style. Your tour includes your bike, helmet, and safety gear, but be sure to wear suitable closed-toe shoes, a light jacket, and sunscreen. What you will see along the way: Relax on a 45-minute motorcoach ride through the lush hills to the trailhead's starting point. Your quad biking route will traverse the iconic natural landscapes of New Zealand, from native bush and alpine forest to rugged hillsides and craggy shores. Following your guide, along 62 miles of trails, slowly climbing up 2,900 feet to the summit of a mountain peak, often shrouded in a cooling mist. Take in the snow-capped Kaikoura Mountains to the north, the cityscape of Wellington, and the white-sand beaches of Oriental Bay. Photo Opportunities: Sling your camera around your neck and prepare for multiple photo stops. Follow your guide across varying terrain from alpine forests and native bush to the top of towering hillsides. The views are grand: the snow-capped Kaikoura Mountains to the north, colorful weatherboard houses down in Wellington, and Oriental Bay with its lovely white-sand beaches. Lunch: Tuck into a light, build-your-own sandwich lunch in the great outdoors. A sample menu includes hearty bread, mayo, mustard, salt, pepper, lettuce, tomato, avocado, red onion, carrot, cheese, roast beef and ham.

As we made our way from Taupo to Wellington, we stopped off at Kapiti Quad Bikes for a bit of 4×4 fun! Now this was my first time on a quad bike and although I generally don’t enjoy driving cars, driving a quad was a whole other story!

This was my third time visiting Wellington and lucky us we got an entire day to spend checking out the sights and sounds.  First we took a cable car from Lambton Quay up to the Wellington Botanic Gardens for a magnificent view of the harbor. Followed soon after by a stroll through downtown with a stop at the Te Papa Museum , a free museum where you can view a colossal squid, learn about the history of New Zealand and have fun with some cool interactive multimedia exhibits.

Things you should know before your ride.

What level of experience is required?

No previous riding experience is necessary. However, riders must be at least 14 years of age and be physically able to control a quad bike.

Are the guides experienced?

We have health and safety operating procedures in place and provide full instruction and training onsite.

What should I wear?

Closed-in footwear must be worn (we do have some gumboots available). You may get wet and muddy so bring a change of clothes and a warm jacket. Glasses or sunglasses must be worn. And don’t forget your camera!

I’m not sure I’d like to drive a bike…

The Most Fun on Four Wheels in New Zealand Since 1997!

My teenage kids and I had a fantastic time. I was pretty nervous, but Jay was lovely and put me at ease. They provided wet weather gear and boots so even going through streams and thick mud didn’t leave us in a mess. Would highly recommend doing this, was a real highlight of our trip and we all want to do it again.

A great team of people sorting out our ‘wet gear’ and then into our ‘buggies’. The track was exciting and the final drive down a river was amazing. Thank you for such an enjoyable experience.

Was an awesome experience from start to finish. The gear and equipment they use as well as the guides are top class. The tour was full of action and an abundance of scenery. Would highly recommend this to anyone passing by.

A definite 'must do' if you are planning a trip to the West Coast. You will not be disappointed! Loads of fun from start to finish, the tracks, the forest and guide was amazing!! A real off road adventure! I have been 4x4ing for many years now, and I can honestly say that these tracks were not disappointing for even the experienced. We will be back for sure :-)

Our family of four (with two boys 6 & 8) loved our 4 seater buggy trip over farmland and through the forest. Great practice run before tackling the more challenging grades and water crossings. Awesome guide, we highly recommend!
