Today, four-time Grammy Award -winning and diamond-certified rock legends AEROSMITH have announced "Peace Out" with special guest THE BLACK CROWES . Fans will see one of the most significant American rock bands in history one last time during this not-to-be-missed final tour. Every night will celebrate the five decades of AEROSMITH 's groundbreaking hits as they celebrate 50 years as America's greatest rock band. In addition, THX will bring their THX Certified Live! high-fidelity experience on the road, calibrating each arena with leading-edge technology so fans don't miss a beat of AEROSMITH 's classic rock tunes in quality audio.

In a joint statement, AEROSMITH shared, "It's not goodbye it's Peace Out! Get ready and walk this way, you're going to get the best show of our lives."

Produced by Live Nation , the monumental 40-date North American tour will kick off in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 2, with stops in iconic arenas across the U.S. and Canada, including Los Angeles's Kia Forum, New York's Madison Square Garden, Dallas's Moody Center, Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena, Chicago's United Center, Toronto's Scotiabank Arena, and more before wrapping in Montreal, Quebec at Bell Centre on January 26 (their last visit at the Bell Centre was in April 2004). A highlight of the tour will be a stop in Boston for a special hometown show on New Year's Eve 2023.

VIP: The tour will also offer a variety of different VIP packages and experiences for fans to take their concert experience to the next level. Packages vary but include a premium reserved ticket, a personal photo opportunity with band members, limited edition merchandise and more. For more information, visit aerosmith.com/vip

The band also shared news of Joey Kramer 's absence from this touring run, saying: "While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of AEROSMITH , he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health. Joey 's unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed."

Most recently, AEROSMITH wrapped their critically acclaimed Las Vegas residency, "Aerosmith: Deuces Are Wild" , at Dolby Live at Park MGM. The electrifying 90-minute live performance took fans deep diving into AEROSMITH 's groundbreaking career with exclusive, unreleased audio and never-before-seen visuals from the band's archives produced by Oscar and Emmy -winning global visual effects studio Pixomondo .

Ahead of the residency, AEROSMITH returned to their hometown in Boston to perform a record-breaking one-off show at Fenway Park as part of the legendary band's 50th anniversary celebrations. With over 38,700 people in attendance, it was the most tickets sold to date for a show at the iconic venue.

Last month, guitarist Joe Perry told Joe Rock of Long Island, New York's 102.3 WBAB radio station that it was unlikely AEROSMITH 's upcoming tour would feature the return of Kramer , who announced in March 2022 that he would sit out the band's concerts last year so he could "focus his full attention on his family during these uncertain times." Perry said: "That's probably one of the hardest things. I've gotta say drumming is probably one of the most athletic parts of playing in a band. So it's really hard. It's been mostly because he just physically [has been] just beating himself up over the last 50 years. So I don't know. I mean, he's still officially a member of the band, but I don't think he's gonna be sitting behind the drums, at least for this next run. Other than that, I really can't say."

Elsewhere in the 102.3 WBAB chat, Joe talked about the likelihood of new music from AEROSMITH . The legendary Boston rockers haven't released a new studio album since 2012's "Music From Another Dimension!" That effort was released when AEROSMITH 's label, Columbia Records , was reportedly going through a leadership change, and it ended up becoming a commercial disappointment.

"At this point, I can't say," Joe said about the prospect of a new AEROSMITH song or album. "I really don't know. But I know that we have a pile of material that hasn't been released. So I think we're focusing on that right now. But the main thing is just getting this tour up and running."

For the past year, AEROSMITH 's longtime drum tech John Douglas has been filling in on drums for Kramer , whose wife, Linda Gail Kramer , died last June at the age of 55. No cause of death has been revealed.

AEROSMITH played its first concert in more than two and a half years on September 4, 2022 in Bangor, Maine.

Prior to the show at Maine Savings Amphitheater, the band's last live performance took place in February 2020 in Las Vegas as part of AEROSMITH 's "Deuces Are Wild" residency.

In May 2022, AEROSMITH announced that singer Steven Tyler had entered a treatment program following a relapse, prompting the band to put their Las Vegas residency on a temporary hold.

Tyler had been struggling with drug and alcohol addiction since the mid-1980s. Over the course of the last four decades, he had relapsed several times, including in the early 2000s and 2009.

Joey has had his own health difficulties in recent years. Kramer suffered a health scare back in 2014, which was initially reported to be "heart-related complications".

About Aerosmith

Celebrating their 50th anniversary, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members Aerosmith have sold more than 150 million albums around the world, produced genre-defining music videos such as "Amazing," "Crazy," "Janie's Got A Gun," "Livin' On The Edge," and "Love In An Elevator," and launched extravagant record-shattering global tours, most recently with their smash hit Las Vegas residency. The band has broken numerous boundaries, including becoming the first rock band with a massive commercially successful hip-hop collaboration with Run DMC on "Walk This Way" and the first hard rock band to appear during a Super Bowl Halftime Show with their 2001 performance, and in 1999, Aerosmith became the first band to have their own themed attraction at Disney World in Florida and later Paris with the launch of the Rock 'N' Roller coaster starring Aerosmith. About The Black Crowes

The Black Crowes are leaving the bullshit in the past. 15 years after their last album of original music, the Robinson Brothers present Happiness Bastards - their 10th studio album. Some may say the project has been several tumultuous years in the making, but we argue it's arriving at just the right time. Call it brotherly love or music destiny that brought them back together, the highly anticipated record consecrating the reunion of this legendary band just may be the thing that saves rock & roll. In a time where the art form is buried beneath the corporate sheen of its successors, The Black Crowes are biting back with the angst of words left unsaid penned on paper and electrified by guitar strings, revealing stripped, bare-boned rock & roll. No gloss, no glitter, just rhythm and blues at its very best - gritty, loud, and in your face. Since The Black Crowes reunited in 2019, they've made a triumphant return to form with over 150 shows spanning 20 countries worldwide, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Shake Your Money Maker , the album that put them on the map. The Robinson Brothers and longtime bassist Sven Pipien headed to the studio with producer Jay Joyce in early 2023 and the experiences of years past transcribed themself through the music as the band found their way back to their roots. And it's finally here - Happiness Bastards is out now.

Aerosmith is in top form at Peace Out tour kickoff, showcasing hits and brotherhood

black crowes peace out tour

PHILADELPHIA – Fans have been fleeced by faux farewell tours so many times that cynicism is warranted.

But this feels like a grand goodbye for Aerosmith – as least as far as touring, as the caveat goes – and the band is marinating in every serrated guitar riff, every scarf adorning a mic stand, every piercing laser and light.

The Peace Out tour launched Saturday at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center, the first of 40 dates for Aerosmith that will run through January, with a shiny production that felt intimate in an arena but big enough that it could have filled a stadium.

The quartet of irrepressible frontman Steven Tyler , virtuoso guitarist Joe Perry, steadfast bassist Tom Hamilton and guitarist Brad Whitford, the main texture man – rose together on a platform at the rear of the open-backed stage, awash in a purple haze to open the nearly two-hour show with, appropriately, “Back in the Saddle.”

A celebration of 50 years of Aerosmith

It took the leonine Tyler, clad in a long silver coat and floppy black hat and looking like your coolest older aunt, about three seconds to sideways-gallop down a ramp to the tip of the stage, which is designed in the shape of a Flying-V guitar.

Perry, a slouchy rock cowboy in his own black hat and billowing white shirt, joined his partner in musical brotherhood moments later for “Love in an Elevator,” an early indication that the show would swing between album cuts for diehard fans and familiar anthems for those who discovered Aerosmith during their MTV dominance.

The tour is, after all, billed as a celebration of Aerosmith’s 50 years of music, from the grimy blues rock and druggy riffs of the ‘70s to the polished sheen of their mainstream-commanding ‘80s output.

'A very lucky man': Sting shares an appreciation of My Songs on current tour

Throughout their spirited set, the band – joined by Seth Stachowski on saxophone, Suzie McNeil on background vocals, Buck Johnson on keyboards and background vocals and John Douglas, filling in on drums this tour for Joey Kramer – sounded taut and aggressive.

Tyler’s holy howl remains remarkably flexible, which he verified on the gravelly choruses of “Cryin’” and the prescient “Livin’ on the Edge,” and the band’s musicianship is in peak form for this victory lap.

A few opening-night snafus were moderately noticeable: a missed drum cue for the funky “Rag Doll,” a wayward harmonica during “Hangman Jury” and a visibly frustrated Tyler signaling about sound problems among them.

But rock ‘n’ roll is never supposed to be perfect.

The unspoken sentiments between Steven Tyler and Joe Perry

Aerosmith has also never made a secret of their use of teleprompters and indeed, several were nestled around the stage floor as well as one large screen perched above the sound board.

A lyrical safety net was warranted when the band rolled into “Adam’s Apple,” an album cut from “Toys in the Attic” that they’ve played live only a couple of dozen times since the album’s 1975 release.

While little mention was made of the finality of Aerosmith’s touring career, the scope of the songs selected for the set list provided the unspoken sentiments.

Tyler, 75, and Perry, 72 – always and forever The Toxic Twins – sat on a couple of stools at the foot of the stage for a blues tour that included the swampy “Hangman Jury,” filled with slide guitar and harmonica, and the beautifully eerie “Seasons of Wither.”

Their intuitive communication, not to mention the nearly identical white streaks in their respective manes, was palpable with only an elbow nudge or a raised eyebrow needed, an understanding between those with shared molecules.

Joe Perry pays tribute to Jeff Beck

Perry told the sold-out crowd that the white Fender Stratocaster he was playing was from Jeff Beck’s collection , a gift from the late guitarist’s wife. He uncorked blistering blues on “Movin’ Out,” a deep cut from Aerosmith’s self-titled 1973 debut and the first song written by Perry and Tyler in their fledgling partnership.

Five decades later, they and the rest of the band are still pumping out the purring bass line of “Sweet Emotion,” tearing through the sonic blitzkrieg of “Toys in the Attic” and ruminating on aging in the eternally beautiful “Dream On” (yes, Tyler can still climb those notes).

The show closing “Walk This Way” – its zippy guitar riff one of the most iconic in rock history – concluded the night with loose joyfulness. But it might be more apropos to honor Aerosmith’s history with their own words from “Dream On”: “Sing for the laughter, sing for the tear.”

The Black Crowes open for Aerosmith

Opening throughout the Peace Out tour is The Black Crowes, fellow blues rockers with a rangy lead singer (Chris Robinson) and searing guitarist (Rich Robinson). Their six-piece band and two backup singers coaxed fans to their seats early with a solid offering that included “Twice As Hard” – with the Robinson brothers on harmonica and slide guitar – their grinding cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle” and the blues-boogying “Remedy.”

Though the band sounded robust and record-perfect, Chris Robinson’s vocals were muddied by a poor mix, making the acoustic-based ballad “She Talks to Angels” the only clearly discerned vocal of The Crowes’ hourlong set.

But Aerosmith and The Black Crowes is a well-matched bill, a back-to-back serving of meaty, substantial rock.

Aerosmith Postpone Farewell Tour Due to Steven Tyler’s Vocal Cord Damage

By Althea Legaspi

Althea Legaspi

Aerosmith have postponed the next month of their   “Peace Out ” farewell tour due to health concerns by frontman Steven Tyler.

“I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days,” Tyler wrote in a statement released on Monday. “I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.”

Shows in Toronto, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Raleigh, and Washington, DC have been postponed. New dates have been added to January and February 2024. Previously purchased tickets will be honored at the rescheduled dates, and refunds will be offered for those unable to attend.

The group is marking more than five decades as a band, and they are slated to perform hits from their 50-plus-year run. “It’s not goodbye it’s PEACE OUT! Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives,” Aerosmith said in a statement.

They also addressed Joey Kramer’s absence from their final tour run. “While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health,” the rest of the band said in a statement. “Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”

About The Black Crowes

In 1990, when journalists were lamenting the death of rock, as cheesy pop and hair metal dominated the charts, Atlanta’s Black Crowes gave the genre a swift and much needed kick in the ass with Shake Your Money Maker . Fueled by singles “Jealous Again,” “Twice As Hard,” “She Talks To Angels,” and the break-through cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard To Handle,” the band immediately took the rock world by storm, topping Rolling Stone’s “Best New American Band Readers Poll” in late 1990. The Black Crowes went on to release eight studio and four live albums, selling in the tens of millions along the way; they sold out shows around the world; had legendary guitarist Jimmy Page join as a member; got kicked off a tour with ZZ Top for insulting the sponsor; got screwed by bad record deals; got married and divorced, fought amongst themselves and against the rest of the world. In other words, they’ve done everything a legendary rock group should do
