When you're looking for something a little more thrilling and outside-the-box while vacationing at Delaware's beaches, the First State has you covered.

From paddle boarding and jet skis to parasailing and skydiving, adventures for all levels await along Delaware's shoreline.

Vendors in Delaware and surrounding areas, like Maryland, provide lessons in water sports and equipment rentals, offering a way for thrill seeks to push their comfort zones and raise their heart rates.

Here are five options for this year's summer vacation in Delaware:

Paddle, kayak on Delaware's waterways

For a leisurely experience on the water, consider renting a kayak or paddleboard to experience Delaware’s waterways. 

Dewey Beach Watersports provides options to rent single or double kayaks or stand-up paddle boards for an hour. 

Kayakers get to explore the “north cove of Rehoboth Bay,” while paddle boarders depart from Dewey Beach next to the Rusty Rudder Restaurant with a chance to explore “the headwaters of Rehoboth Bay and nearby Thompson’s Island,” according to Dewey Beach Water Sports.

Single kayaks and paddle boards cost $35 for an hour and double kayaks cost $50, according to the water sports website . No advanced reservations are necessary and rentals come with life jackets.

Delmarva Water Board Sports also offers kayak and paddle board rentals, as well as lessons and excursions in Dewey Beach. 

Try windsurfing at Dewey Beach

If you consider yourself an aspiring sailor, or maybe just always wanted to try windsurfing, Delmarva Water Board Sports offers two-hour windsurfing lessons tailored to students’ needs and includes equipment and an instructor.

The board sports company says the goal by the end of the class is for the student to be able to “pull up the rig (uphaul), sail on the beam reach, steer, turn and become more comfortable in a more advanced sailing position.”

Located behind the Bay Resort Motel at 135 Dagsworthy St. in Dewey Beach, participants must weigh at least 100 pounds and have a “good level of physical fitness” because the activity is “not recommended for weak participants or those with bad backs, ankles or knees,” according to Delmarva Water Board Sports .

The two-hour windsurfing class is a public group session, which costs $169 per person. Private lessons are available on a limited basis for $199 per person. 

Experience Delaware beaches on Jet Skis, pontoon boats

For a faster-paced experience on the water, Dewey Beach Watersports also offers personal watercraft rentals and tours, pontoon boat rentals and charters, sunset cruises and banana boat rides.

Personal watercraft rentals cost $120 for one hour, while pontoon boat rentals cost $475 for a four-hour excursion and up to 10 passengers. Costs for other watercraft rental and tour options vary depending on type and duration. 

Banana boat rides offer participants ages 6 and up the opportunity for water tubing on Rehoboth Bay in Dewey Beach. A Coast Guard-licensed captain can take up to six riders with everyone getting about 20 minutes of ride time, according to the water sports company. The cost per person is $35.

Located in Dewey Beach, but minutes from Lewes as well as Bethany and Rehoboth beaches, parasailing offers panoramic views of the Delaware coastline and Atlantic Ocean from 800 feet in the air. 

Parasailers take coff and land from the back of a parasail boat and are in the air for eight to 10 minutes, according to Dewey Beach Parasailing. 

The business is open seven days a week from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The cost to sail is $95 per person, and reservations are recommended .

Go skydiving with beachfront views

For extreme adrenaline junkies, perhaps freefalling out of a plane is more your speed. 

Skydive OC , located across the Delaware border in Berlin, Maryland, is about a 35- to 45-minute drive from Bethany Beach providing tandem skydiving experiences for southern Delaware, Baltimore, Washington and surrounding areas.

This particular skydiving company provides beachfront views as you skydive over Assawoman Bay and enjoy views of Assateague Island, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Ocean City coastline, according to Skydive OC. 

Tandem skydiving costs $299 , with a $50 nonrefundable deposit. Skydive OC offers discounts for groups, international students working in Ocean City as well as Ocean City hospitality workers.

Chico's new "Party on Wheels" tours city streets with a 14-passenger bike

A new and exciting party business has just launched in Chico, and it's literally hitting the streets!

“It’s essentially like you’re in a parade.  A lot of people smile, and it’s hard not to smile when you see it or when you’re on it,” said Katie Germann.

In Chico, locals might have noticed a striking blue 14-passenger tour bike making its way through the city streets.

Katie Germann, one of the founders of Party on Wheels, says the city's climate makes it the perfect location to create something like this for the community.

“Any time people see it they’re like ‘What is that? Oh my gosh, Chico got one, that’s so great.’  Chico is flat, there’s no incline, it’s a perfect biking neighborhood.  Everyone bikes, everyone parties, so why not combine the two?," said Germann.

The business holds events for community members to participate in, as well as books private events.  Led by a driver and host that entertain guests and share fun facts about the history on Chico, guests are invited to bring games, food, and more for their celebrations.

“We’ve done alumni parties, bachelorette’s, we’ve done birthday parties, we’ve done kids birthdays, we did a book club, so the possibilities are really limitless. Anything that you want to get on the bike for, let’s make it a party," explained Germann.

She explains they have worked with the city and police department to ensure the safety of their guests.  The bike rides throughout different parts of Chico and makes stops and restaurant, bars, and businesses.

The bike has a motor that allows them to pass through intersections quicker if needed.

“We make sure everyone is seated, they adjust their seats, they can reach the pedals, they’re seatbelted in. We have hand signals, we abide by the street rules, we abide by the bike rules: left, right, and all of that. Chico is really receptive of it," German said.

“Our mantra, our motto is ‘let’s put the pedal to the party. Chico is a party town, Chico also likes to pedal, so as long as they are pedaling and partying, then that’s a great way for us to stay in business," Germann concluded.
