Old Model Maruti Swift Dzire Tour With Larger Boot Now Available For Private Buyers Too

author image

Soon after the launch of new Maruti Swift Dzire in India, Maruti Suzuki India discontinued the old Model Dzire lineup and re-launched the same for fleet operators and commercial usage buyers under the new name Dzire Tour. Dzire Tour is mechanically the old Maruti Swift Dzire but comes in one one Petrol and one Diesel engine variant. Dzire Tour was not available for private buyers until recently when Maruti Suzuki decided to open its sales for private car buyers as well. The Dzire Tour Petrol is priced at Rs. 4.90 Lakhs ex-showroom Delhi and Dzire Tour Diesel is priced at Rs. 6 Lakhs. With this price point, the Dzire Tour is a fairly bare-bone version with minimal features.

If you are planning to buy a Dzire Tour, you will not get the below features in these version:

  • Body coloured bumpers
  • Body coloured door handles
  • Left hand side outside rear view mirror
  • Central Locking
  • Music System

Some of the above equipment can be fitted after market to the car at additional expanse, but it does not make much sense to but the Dzire Tour if you need above features. Its better to get the new Dzire of any other similar car with these features. Also another downside of the Dzire tour is that it gets older generation petrol engine compared to the newer VTVT petrol engine in the new Dzire which is more powerful as well as fuel efficient.

However the advantage is that in Dzire Tour you get much larger boot of 464 litres compared to 316 litre boot of the new Dzire. So in case you were planning on a car with larger boot and lower price tag and almost no features, then Dzire tour will make a much practical sense as it has good handling, boot space, reliable and well tested engine lineup, cheap spared and service of Maruti Suzuki and a decent re-sale value in Indian market. Also at least on the cosmetic front, you can get the front and rear bumpers painted and left hand side rear view mirror installed to make it look presentable. Do let us know what do you think about buying a Dzire Tour by leaving a comment below.

2017 Maruti Dzire vs Old Swift Dzire – Specs Comparison

new dzire vs old dzire

The all-new Dzire looks more stylish and upmarket compared to the outgoing model both at exterior and inside the cabin; engine options carried forward

Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the all-new Dzire with a completely new look at exterior and inside the cabin. Being the sibling of Swift hatchback from the Indo-Japanese automaker, the new Dzire borrows its design from the new-generation hatch, which is also preparing to be launched in the country, but only after the compact sedan sometime next year.

Despite overall falling sales figure in the compact sedan segment, the Swift Dzire maintained a steady sales record. With the growth of the shared ride hailing services like Uber and Ola, the popularity of the car has grown much more than before. The Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire competes with tough rivals like Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Aspire and the latest entrant Volkswagen Ameo. With the Honda Amaze already received a facelift and the Hyundai Xcent too ready to roll out in new avatar, the Swift Dzire’s new look has been much desired.

2017 Maruti Swift dzire launched

Here we make a spec-sheet based comparison between both the new and old versions of the Dzire compact sedan:

2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire vs Old Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire – Exterior

The all-new 2017 Maruti Suzuki swift Dzire comes with an attractive design compared to the current model. It sports a new revised front fascia which has borrowed design cue from the new generation Swift hatchback. However, the difference is also very much visible. It gets a completely new hexagonal front grille with extensive chrome garnishing and horizontal slats. The headlamps appear much sharper and in line with the new-generation Swift hatch and they come with integrated LED daytime running light.

Moving to the rear of the car, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire looks quite similar to its predecessor with minor changes. A set of wraparound taillights, a horizontal chrome slat running between the taillamps and a crafted looking registration enclosure and rear bumper are there. Overall, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire arrives with a very urban and modern look, which makes it very attractive compared to the existing model.

Speaking about the Old Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, the car gets sharp laid back headlamps and there are no LED daytime running lights, which are available in most of the cars now a days. The front grille of the car looks dated with a single wide chrome slat and there is a black wide air intake with horizontal slats at the front bumper.

Swift-dzire-facelift-side in-silver-color

The outgoing model is available in six different exterior paint options, which are – Cave Black, Magma Grey, Sangria red, Alp Blue, Silky Silver and Pearl Arctic White. The third-generation model comes in Arctic White, Silky Silver, Oxford Blue, Sherwood Brown, Magma Gray and Gallant Red. In terms of design, the new model certainly grabs attention at the very first glimpse and looks interesting than the old model.

2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire vs Old Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire – Dimension

Since the new Dzire is based on the Baleno’s platform, the height is reduced by 40 mm while the wheelbase is increased by 20 mm. The width of the vehicle has gone up by 40 mm and it will translate into more cabin room as the shoulder room up front and rear goes up by 20 mm and 30 mm respectively. The fuel tank capacity has been reduced to 37 litres from 42 litres and the rear leg room has increased by 55 mm.

The petrol MT weighs at 860 kg and 895 kg for the petrol AMT version while the diesel MT tip the weighing scale at 955 kg and 990 kg for the AMT. Due to the significantly lowered kerb weight, the handling and driving dynamics are said to have improved by a large amount.

The ground clearance of the all-new Maruti Dzire sedan is 163 mm – 7 mm lower than the outgoing model for improved aerodynamic stability. Due to the new lighter Baleno platform it is based on, the luggage compartment has seen increase in capacity as it is at 378 litres – 62 litres more than the existing model.

2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire vs Old Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire – Interior

When we compare the interior of the all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire with the old model, the sharp difference is visible through the design and features. The new model appears very much upmarket than the old model, thanks to its modern contemporary design and loads of practical, stylish and premium features compared to the old Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire.

Maruti Dzire 2017 Instrument Cluster

The circular AC vents, colour theme inside the cabin, seat and upholstery materials also help in making the new Swift Dzire very attractive and interesting than the old model. In terms of space and comfort, it will be more spacious and roomy offering the rear occupants more legroom, as we have already mentioned that the new model will come with a larger wheelbase.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire Allure interior

The centre console doesn’t get a touchscreen infotainment system, which is something available in most of the cars now a days. Overall, the interior of the new Swift Dzire is very attractive and interesting than the old model, and it comes pretty much appealing as well.

2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire vs Old Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire – Powertrain

On the powertrain front, the new generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes available in both petrol and diesel engine options like the outgoing model. The third-gen model carries the same 1.2-litre K-Series VVT petrol engine, while the diesel engine on the other hand, is the same Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre DDiS unit, which is also available in several other Maruti Suzuki cars like Ciaz sedan Ertiga MPV and Swift hatchback.

The power and torque outputs of the petrol and diesel engines remain same as well. The old model gets a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed automatic transmission on offer with the petrol engine, while the diesel engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AGS is also on offer. The third generation Dzire sticks with the similar transmission set ups.

Speaking about the power and torque output of the new Dzire, the petrol model would churn out 84.3 PS of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. The diesel model on the other hand, will pump out 75 PS of peak power at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of peak torque at 2,000 rpm. Fuel efficiency of the old model is 20.85 kmpl for the petrol manual variant, 18.5 kmpl for the petrol automatic variant and 26.59 kmpl for the diesel model. Top speed for the car is going to be 165 kmph. Due to the lighter HEARTECT platform the new Dzire is underpinned by, the mileage is up at 22 kmpl and 28.4 kmpl for petrol and diesel.

Apart from the current engines, the upcoming model could get a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine as well, sourced from the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, while an indigenously built 1.5-litre petrol engine is also on card, which would be introduced to the car later after being used and evaluated in the Ciaz sedan and Ertiga MUV.

2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire vs Old Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire – Safety

The 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes with several modern and essential safety features. It receives dual front airbags and ABS with EBD as standard along with ISOFIX child safety system. Apart from that, other safety features would be seatbelt reminder, reverse parking camera, engine immobilizer, etc.

The current model comes with safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors etc. But those are not available in the base variants. Instead the top variant come equipped with such essential safety features. In that case, the new generation Dzire comes offering the occupants more protection. Also, it is claimed to employ a more rigid, lighter and yet protective body structure.

2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire vs Old Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire – Price

The old Maruti Suzuki Swift was available in a total of 13 different variants across the petrol and diesel fuel options and three different transmission options as well. It is priced between Rs. 5.35 lakh and Rs. 8.58 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The new model is available between Rs. 5.45 lakh and Rs. 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Maruti Suzuki has surely kept the pricing competitive against its rivals like Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Aspire and Volkswagen Ameo.

* All prices, ex-showroom, New Delhi.

2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire vs Old Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire – Comparison Verdict

2017 Swift dzire launched-3

Surely, Maruti Suzuki has understood where it needs to improve and the new Swift Dzire comes accordingly prepared. Apart from keeping its superiority against the rivals in the segment, the new generation sub-four metre compact sedan leaves behind the old model far away with its new look and all other stuff it offers to the occupants. So far, with the arrival of the car, the Indo-Japanese automaker looks set to keep its supremacy intact in the segment.

Maruti Dzire Tour Modified To Dzire VDi – An Ownership Review

  • Thread Starter SankarNarayanan
  • Start date Aug 4, 2013

SankarNarayanan

SankarNarayanan

Hi Folks, This is going to be long post with lots of pictures and details of all the cars I drove before finalizing on Dzire Tour LDi and explanations for why I went for Tour even though new Dzire was readily available. Owning a car was a dream that i started dreaming the very first time i drove a car back when i was studying in 10th standard. Back then our car was Peacock Green 94 model Maruti Suzuki M-800 which was one of the best car we ever owned. We had a trouble free ownership experience of 15 years with our cute M-800. In 2009 we made back to back purchases one being my bike Honda Unicorn and other being my Dad's Hyundai i10 which replaced our beloved M-800. Decision on purchase:- Passed out of college in 2010. During my college days my parents strictly forbid me from ever taking our car to college. Dad would say - "No need to show off to friends with our car. Get a job after college and buy one for yourself.". I would reply (in my mind of course) "Thinks He owns a Ferrari. After all it's just a normal family hatchback". Moving on, after college i did networking courses for 2-3 months and then got my first job. Salary was very low and even maintaining my bike with my salary was very difficult. Life went on for almost a year and one fine day on May 2011 got a call from HR of my current IT company that they have an opening and want to schedule an interview. By next week got the offer letter and had an excellent offer that till now i thought only big MNC would be ready to offer. Joined their in June 2011 and within 6 months found i had some good saving as i didn't have to spend on food or lodging and the only expense was commuting which came at 1k per month due my very efficient Unicorn. Within 10 months i spoke to my parents about owning a Diesel car as my running has increased to 50km/day. Initially both Dad and mom rejected the idea outright saying i am too young to own a car. At 24 years of age no one in the family owned a car so no need for a car now. I found this reason too unfair and would shout back "I didn't ask for your advise. I just said I am going to buy a Diesel car. Just wanted to inform you both" But in reality i would never cross my parents and will never do anything that would hurt them or make them sad. So thoughts of owning a car was dropped but i was in for a big surprise. One fine day dad told me his bank had an offer for managers and there was an attractive scheme for car loans. Being Chief Manager of reputed Nationalized Bank he would get a car loan upto 7Lakhs @ 6% simple interest. The EMI would also be very attractive. He asked me to checkout the cars that came with ex-showroom price in range of 7Lakhs. Shocked and surprised i went happily to dealers for inquiry from the very next day. Priorities:- Parent's Priorities:- Should be below 8lakhs OTR strictly not a penny more Needs to be good looker Should have adequate space in rear seats Good resale value Must be cheap to maintain and spares shouldn't be costly Good fuel efficiency My Priorities:- Should be a looker and should be modifier friendly. Rear seat comfort should be very high(My main consideration for my dear parents) Should have good driving dynamics and steering feel Should be easy to maintain and service Should have adequate features and should be VFM product My running of 50km per day means it should a diesel. Should have good ride and handling along with adequate performance Should have large boot as in future i am planning for twin SPL subwoofers Should have good built quality. Test Drives:- Initial inquires made it very clear that all diesel sedans where out of my budget. Heck even some of the hatchbacks were also out of my budget like full option i20 and Fiat Punto 90HP. My budget was 8 Lakhs OTR. So test drove the following cars:- Maruti Suzuki Swift ZDi Fiat Punto 75HP Ford Figo Tata Vista MJD Nissian Micra VW Polo TDi 1) Maruti Suzuki Swift ZDi:- One of the best all rounder currently available in India. I wend to checkout the Swift on a Saturday with my friend. Swift had the backing from my parents as it was known to be very reliable and cost of spares and maintenance would be very low. Resale value would be very good for Swift, being in an IT industry i might get a chance to relocate abroad and my parents don't wish to maintain a diesel car. Swift had an added advantage of 4 dealers in Trivandrum and more than 6 service stations between them. Being a Maruthi it would be cheap to maintain and Swift being very popular had good resale value. On reaching showroom SA attended me promptly and we took a TD after initial chat on price of the car. Car was really good to drive, handling was very neutral and also was a bit sporty in nature. Interiors felt very sporty and i felt Swift was overall a very attractive package. Negatives i felt about Swift was that the Turbo feel that came after 1800-2000 rpm in Old Swift was absent in the new one. Also rear seats felt very cramped after i had adjusted the drivers seat for my height which is 5feet 11" and boot space was comparable to our i10 which was not acceptable to me. OTR of 8 Lakhs was a shocker considering old Swift VDi with ABS sold at OTR of 6 Lakhs and I somehow felt Swift to be overpriced. But Swift still remained an option in my list due to a long list of advantages it possessed. 2) Fiat Punto 75HP:- Walked into the showroom of Fiat-Tata dealership and found a Fiat Punto Emotion in display. Hard to believe this is a 5-6 year old design. Stunning looking car which will stand out in any crowd if maintained properly (regular washing and polishing). SA showed me the car and went on about it's tough built quality, good feature list, fuel efficient engine and over all stunning Italian design. I was mighty impressed by the car but when i had a look at the interiors i was totally let down. When exterior design of the car looked stunning interior design shouted this was designed 5 years back. This became a big negative for me about Punto but still asked SA for a TD and he brought the TD car home next week. My dad has stayed back just t have a look of the car. The TD car would probably be the worst maintained Punto in Kerala. Was covered i mud from top to bottom and i felt like car had gone off roading for some time. Dad didn't even get into the car for TD and went off to office disappointed. Reluctantly i took the TD and it also started off badly. I felt Punto had very average performance and didn't feel like it had the same engine as Swift. Had very noticeable Turbolag and the car was very sluggish to drive. I took the TD car through some turns and immediately understood why Punto is a favorite among car enthusiast. This car loves corners and has awesome steering feel. Hydraulic power steering was way ahead in this aspect to EPS. Also Punto felt far stable to drive at high speeds. Parents told me a strict No towards Punto but i still had her in my options list. 3) Ford Figo:- Most affordable car in this segment but Dad told me not to thing about Figo any further as He felt it was way small compared to others. Also he felt Ford doesn't have any resale value and are very expensive to maintain. I also felt Figo to be outdated for my needs and even in full option doesn't come with power windows for rear doors. Dropped off the list. 4)Tata Vista MJD:- Had good features and was very VFM for all it offered but Dad told me not to even take a TD as he didn't want me to own a Vista due to Taxi image associated with the car. Also TASS was very poor in Trivandrum and my colleague himself had lots of issues during his ownership of Vista. Dropped off the list. 5) Nissian Micra:- Dealer had just setup shop in my city and didn't have TD vehicle. Still i went to check out the car but SA attitude was very poor and he was least interested in showing me the car. Dropped off the list. 6) VW Polo TDi:- Looked understated but very stylish. Excellent built quality and interiors shouted quality everywhere. Dad was mighty impressed for the first time felt we had a better option than Swift. We immediately went for a TD and this is were all wend wrong for Polo. Once we fired up the TD car and Dad who was standing outside with SA immediately had a change of expression. I also felt the engine to be noisy because i could feel the engine sound inside the cabin. On inquiry SA told me it's due to abused TD car and normal Polo wouldn't be noisy. I immediately asked him to start a nearby Polo which was a customer's car which had come for first service and it also sounded very noisy. SA didn't say a word and i asked dad to proceed further with TD. Everything went well, Polo had very neutral handling, good stability and good ride. Dad also liked the rear seat comfort. After TD we checked out the prices and was shocked to find the OTR price of Highline model was 8.6 lakhs. We both came to conclusion that for this price it offered to little features and was very overpriced.(Within a month or two VW launched the revised Polo with lots of new features and revised price tag). Also a very close friend who installed a small ICE in his Vento was told his warranty is totally void because he had installed parts from outside the dealer and the arrogant attitude of thinking about themselves to be a high value brand made me drop plans for Polo. Dropped off the list. Purchase postponed:- One fine day when i was at office after all the TD had been completed, SA from Tata-Fiat dealer called me to inform me of offers available for Fiat Punto 75HP. I bargained a lot and was amazed by the offer they provided. Apparently the car is not selling well because they offered me discounts close to 1 lakh from OTR price and the final OTR price came at 6.70 Lakhs for the fully loaded Emotion variant. I persuaded my parents and was was finally able to convince them on the purchase.. Next day as i was off to showroom for booking Fiat Punto Dad called me and asked me to meet him at his office immediately. On reaching their i found out this -Our loan couldn't be sanctioned because our current car needs to be 4 years old before we can apply for a new car loan under the employee scheme and our i10 would complete 4 years by March 2013 only. So dad asked me to wait till March 2013 and i was totally heart broken. Fast Forward to January 2013:- With just 2 months to go before i started the TD process all over again but now my priorities changed. I am spending this much and the car would stay with me for a long time so why not look at some entry level sedan? Also paying 8 lakhs for hatchback was not a VFM option my any means. My options were:- Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire VDi Fiesta Classic Tata Manza MJD Fiat Linea MJD 1) Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire VDi:- Myself and dad went to dealer to check out the New Dzire. On seeing the car we both felt it didn't look like a proper sedan compared to Fiesta, Linea or Manza. TD was ok and it had all advantages of Swift but somehow it felt very similar to a hatchback and dad also told me "From some angles you won't differentiate Swift from Dzire then why spending 75k extra on this?". So dropped this from list. 2) Fiesta Classic:- We were greeted by an SA who was least interested in showing us the car. Also told us TD vehicle is not available he doesn't know the reason behind this. We told him that we will come again and he also assured us that he will contact us when TD vehicle is available. Till now he has not contacted us. So dropped this from list. 3) Tata Manza MJD:- Very same to Vista - Had good features and was very VFM for all it offered but Dad told me not to even take a TD as he didn't want me to own a Manza due to Taxi image associated with the car. Also TASS was very poor in Trivandrum and my colleague himself had lots of issues during his ownership of Vista. Dropped off the list. Dad forced me to drop this from list. 4) Fiat Linea MJD:- Felt the same with Punto TD and also had lots o boot space and looked very stylish. Also was slightly more stable than Punto at high speeds. But even bas model active costs 9 lakhs OTR. Discounts were available but this car was simply not in my budget. So dropped this from list.

Looks like you are happy with your great choice and you are indeed lucky to have got your choice even after Maruti has changed the model. Pictures are very nice and clear and brings out all the modifications very well.

Re: Maruti Swift Dzire Modified To Dzire VDi – An Ownership Review. Music_Swift said: Not yet.Planning to go for a Used Verna,Dzire or Fiesta Classic or Used i20 Diesel or Punto Diesel.Had considered new vehicles like Swift,Figo,Liva too.but,in end, what happens,I don't know. Click to expand... Used Dzire, Verna and i20 would be very costly in second hand market. Better try to get Fiesta Classic or Punto as they have good deals and would also a good driver's car. Questions and Answers

User reviews for maruti dzire (2019), average in looks and performance.

I bought second hand Swift Dzire from one of my friend. He has completed only 20,000 kms on it when I purchased. There are misconceptions that used cars always create problem, But touch-wood, I never went mechanic yet. The things annoys me about my car is its light colored interior which get dirty very often. I have to call dry cleaners for washing once in a month. Starting from driving seat, it is comfortable for short height person, as I am 5'8" my left leg always hit plastic panel right above the clutch. Though it supports 5 seating capacity but the legroom it offers is not enough for comfortable seating. Moreover, its head-room is severely limited by the sloping roof. The cargo capacity is low that it can hold a weekend's luggage of a nuclear family. It delivers average performance and pickup is also low.

Best Features: NA

Pros: Appealing Interior

Cons: Seat height, headroom, legroom, Cargo Capacity
