LOS ANGELES , July 6, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — After more than 50 years of touring, and consistently selling out arenas and stadiums worldwide, the Eagles announced today that their upcoming “The Long Goodbye”  will be the band’s final tour.

Thirteen shows will be initially announced. The first set of dates will begin September 7, 2023 , in New York .

The Eagles’ long-time contemporaries and fellow Hall of Famers, Steely Dan,  will be joining these historic shows and commemorating their own 50+ year career.

Presale tickets and VIP packages will be available starting Wednesday, July 12 for all announced shows. The general on-sale will start Friday, July 14 at 10:00 AM local time.

During “The Long Goodbye,” the Eagles – Don Henley , Joe Walsh , Timothy B. Schmit , with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey – will perform as many shows in each market as their audience demands. The tour is expected to continue into 2025.

Over the band’s more than 50 years of touring, the Eagles have performed more than 1,000 concerts around the world, accounting for more than 15 million tickets. Eagles’ tours have consistently ranked in the Top 10 of both concert industry publications, Billboard and Pollstar .

In the Fall of 1971, the Eagles formed, pioneered, and personified a uniquely American musical style blending country, folk, R&B, rock, and pop sensibilities, and would go onto become one of the most creatively and commercially successful bands of all time.  In today’s faddish, fractured, rock landscape, the Eagles retain an appeal that transcends both generation and genre, cementing the band’s role as enduring musical icons.

The Eagles have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, scored six #1 albums, and topped the singles charts five times. They earned six GRAMMY Awards, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, in their very first year of eligibility, and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016.

The band’s Greatest Hits 1971-1977 is the best-selling album in history, with the RIAA certifying the collection at 38-times Platinum.  Hotel California is the third best-selling U.S. album in history, certified 26-times Platinum.  After its release in 1976, it topped the charts and earned two GRAMMY Awards for “New Kid In Town” and “Hotel California.”

The “Long Goodbye” tour is proudly presented by Live Nation.

The Eagles playing the Sphere hasn’t been the best-kept secret . In May, James Dolan, executive chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment Co., mentioned on an earnings call the Eagles would be the next act to explore the creative and visual opportunities that come with playing the nine-month-old venue.

The band, which kicked off its farewell tour in September, will follow rapturously received residencies by U2, who christened the venue last fall, Phish and, currently, Dead & Company .

The Grateful Dead offshoot band fronted by Bob Weir and including John Mayer and Mickey Hart, are in the midst of a recently expanded 30-date run that will wrap Aug. 10.

All three of the acts who have parked at the Sphere have captivated crowds with awe-inspiring visual elements – rolling video that makes the room feel as if it’s moving, band images incorporated into TV sets, walls of backstage passes that envelop the inside of the venue – projected onto the 160,000-square-foot LED screen that wraps the interior.

The Eagles , currently touring Europe, have a set list stocked with their more laid-back hits in the first half (“Take it Easy,” “One of These Nights,” “Take it To the Limit”) that builds to rollicking rockers including “Life in the Fast Lane” and “Already Gone” as the show continues.

Eagles turning las vegas sphere into ‘hotel california’ with 4-weekend residency, legendary rock band next to perform at the sphere.

Jack Roskopp , Digital Content Editor, Graham Media Group

The Las Vegas Sphere will be giving southern California vibes later this year when the Eagles take over the iconic venue for a four-weekend residency that starts on Friday, Sept. 20.

The Eagles will play eight shows during their residency, concluding on Sunday, Oct. 19.

Recommended Videos

Longtime fans of the legendary rock band are probably aware that the current lineup is a little bit different from what it used to be. The shows at the Las Vegas Sphere will consist of Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmidt, country artist Vince Gill and Deacon Frey, the son of Glenn Frey, who died in 2016.

The band is currently on a tour called “The Long Goodbye,” which will go until later this year. The Sphere dates are as follows:

  • Friday, Sept. 20
  • Saturday, Sept. 21
  • Friday, Sept. 27
  • Saturday, Sept. 28
  • Friday, Oct. 11
  • Saturday, Oct. 12
  • Friday, Oct. 18
  • Saturday, Oct. 19

U2 kicked things off at the Las Vegas Sphere, and jam band Phish was the second artist to have a residency as this new venue. Dead and Company, which is a band with the remaining members of the Grateful Dead, currently have a residency at the Sphere.

The visuals and special effects at the Las Vegas Sphere are seriously like nothing you’ve ever seen before, and no other music venue in the world can compare. So seeing the legendary Eagles in a venue like this will be something really special. Especially since it is their farewell tour.

Tickets for the Eagles residency go on sale Friday, June 14th at 10 a.m. PT.

The Eagles Announce ‘The Long Goodbye’ Farewell Tour Dates, Steely Dan to Support

The Eagles have just announced a series of 2023 tour dates, the first on their The Long Goodbye farewell tour. Fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Fame act Steely Dan have been tabbed as support for the fall run.

Much like Deep Purple 's own The Long Goodbye tour, the trek does not have a set end date, though The Eagles are expected to be on the road through 2025 and will "perform as many shows in each marker at their audience demands," per a press release.

The band is currently comprised of Don Henley , Joe Walsh , Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill and Deacon Frey.

The first batch of dates features a total of 13 stops between Sept. 7 and Nov. 17, all of which can be seen further down the page.

Reflecting on their massively successful 50-plus year career and the upcoming farewell jaunt, The Eagles released the following statement:

The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds. Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support, throughout these many years. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle. The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages. We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round. So, scheduling information will be released as dates are set. The difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights may require us to return to certain cities, depending on demand. But, we hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up. Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on. With love and gratitude, The Eagles

Eagles singer Don Henley gives his all onstage.

It’s time to check out of the Hotel California and into a resort on the Strip.

From Sept. 20 through Oct. 19, The Eagles will play eight concerts at Las Vegas’ premier concert destination, Sphere .

At all ‘Eagles — Live In Concert at Sphere’ shows, fans can expect an “ultimate connection to the band’s legendary catalog in an immersive experience that only Sphere can provide,” according to a press release.

Prior to this high-profile residency announcement, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and co. have been touring all over the globe as part of their farewell ‘The Long Goodbye Tour.’

As of now, there’s no word on whether or not these Sin City gigs will be the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group’s last; when they initially announced the farewell trek, they teased that the tour would stretch into 2025.

In any event, if you want to see the legendary group deliver their timeless hits — “Life In The Fast Lane,” “New Kid In Town,” “Take It Easy,” “Lyin’ Eyes” and “Desperado” are just a few of the classics that often make the set list — tickets are available for all eight Sphere concerts as of today.

Fans can purchase tickets for all upcoming shows on sites like Vivid Seats ; the official on-sale is Friday, June 21.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

The Eagles 2024 Sphere concert schedule

A complete calendar including all Sphere dates and links to buy tickets can be found below.

The Eagles concert review

According to  Variety , The Eagles’ live show “easily competes with the likes of Taylor Swift and Beyoncé for tour of the year.”

For more about Deacon Frey, Joe Walsh, Don Henley, Vince Gill and what covers the band worked into their MSG concert, you can read their thorough review  here .

The Eagles band members

When you’ve been living life in the fast lane since 1971 (!), a bit of shuffling when it comes to your group’s lineup is to be expected.

Still, to this day, 76-year-old, founding member Don Henley (drums, vocals, also known for the ’80s smash “Boys of Summer), continues to tour with the group.

On the road, he’ll be joined by 76-year-old Joe Walsh (also of the James Gang), 76-year-old Timothy B. Schmit (bassist and vocalist, played with Poco), 22-time Grammy winner 67-year-old Vince Gill and the late Glenn Frey’s 31-year-old son Deacon.

Over the course of their illustrious career, the band has racked up six Grammy awards, performed over 1,000 concerts and sold 150 million-plus albums.

The Eagles set list

On their farewell tour, The Eagles stuck to a pretty strict set list.

While we can’t confirm what they’ll take to the Sphere stage, here’s what they played last year, based on our findings at  Set List FM .

01.) “Seven Bridges Road” (Steve Young cover) 02.) “Take It Easy”

03.) “One of These Nights” 04.) “New Kid in Town” 05.) “Take It to the Limit” 06.) “Best of My Love” 07.) “Witchy Woman” 08.) “Peaceful Easy Feeling” (Jack Tempchin cover) 09.) “Tequila Sunrise” 10.) “In the City” (Joe Walsh song) 11.) “I Can’t Tell You Why” 12.) “Lyin’ Eyes” 13.) “Life’s Been Good” (Joe Walsh song) 14.) “Already Gone” (Jack Tempchin cover) 15.) “The Boys of Summer” (Don Henley song) 16.) “Funk #49” (James Gang cover) 17.) “Life in the Fast Lane”

18.) “Heartache Tonight” Encore:

19.) “Rocky Mountain Way” (Joe Walsh song) 20.) “Desperado” 21.) “Hotel California”

The shows arrive as part of the ’70s band’s farewell tour, entitled “The Long Goodbye.” The crew initially announced their final run in late 2023, which notably included a slew of dates with Steely Dan. That run wrapped up in March, so to take them at their word, the concerts at The Sphere seem to be one of the final times fans can catch one of the best-selling rock groups of all time.

And for those wondering, The Eagles’ current lineup boasts Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit, as well as Vince Gill and Deacon Frey.

What Can I Expect From the Eagles’ Sphere Shows?

As with other recent concerts at the Sphere, Eagles plan to utilize the venue’s next-generation technologies, including its immersive LED displays and sound systems.

As for the setlist, on “The Long Goodbye” tour, Eagles have been playing a setlist composed primarily of greatest hits (“Take It Easy,” “Take It to the Limit,” “Tequila Sunrise,” “Life in the Fast Lane,” and “Hotel California).

How Can I Get Tickets to The Eagles’ Sphere Residency?

Fans will be able to purchase tickets starting Tuesday, June 18th at 10:00 a.m. PT via an artist pre-sale ( pre-registration is ongoing ). A Live Nation pre-sale then follows on Thursday, June 20th (use code CHORD ) via Ticketmaster , with the general on-sale going live on Friday, June 21st.

Are VIP Packages Available?

Yes, a limited number of VIP Ticket Packages will be available starting Tuesday, June 18th at 10:00 a.m. PT at Eagles.com and include premium seats, exclusive merchandise, parking & more.

If you’re planning a trip to Las Vegas for a show at the Sphere, you can save 15% off travel and accommodations through Booking.com .

Are The Eagles Touring Besides the Residency?

As of now, The Eagles’ upcoming dates at Sphere are their only confirmed performances in the US. The band previously said they intend to tour through 2025.

'Closing the circle': The Eagles to play Kentucky during their farewell tour

eagles goodbye tour tickets

Rock & Roll Hall of Famers and six-time Grammy Award winners the Eagles have announced their "The Long Goodbye Final Tour" will make a stop in Kentucky this fall.

The iconic rock band behind hits like "Hotel California," "Take It Easy" and "Lyin' Eyes" will make their way to Rupp Arena in Lexington in November, the band announced Thursday.

The Eagles, who performed at the KFC Yum! Center in May 2022 as part of the "Hotel California Tour," have decided that after playing more than 1,000 concerts throughout their 52 years of touring, the time has come to call it quits.

"The Long Goodbye" is expected to last into 2025.

"We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful," the band said in a statement. "Everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle."

In the Fall of 1971, the Eagles formed and pioneered a uniquely American musical style blending country, folk, R&B, rock, and pop genres, and would go on to become one of the most creatively and commercially successful bands of all time.

The band’s Greatest Hits 1971-1977 is the best-selling album in history. Hotel California, released in 1976, is the third best-selling U.S. album in history. After its release, it topped the charts and earned two Grammy Awards for “New Kid In Town” and “Hotel California.”

The Eagles were the first official concert at the KFC Yum! Center on October 16, 2010 and returned in 2022 as part of the venue's 11-year anniversary celebration.

Here's what to know about the Eagles' "The Long Goodbye Final Tour."

Where will the Eagles perform in Kentucky?

The Eagles, who are performing with special guests and fellow Hall of Famers, Steely Dan , are coming to Lexington's Rupp Arena.

When is "The Long Goodbye Final Tour" concert at Rupp Arena?

The Lexington concert is scheduled for Nov. 14, 2023.

When will tickets go on sale for the Eagles' farewell tour?

Pre-sale tickets and VIP packages will be available on starting Wednesday at 10 a.m. for all announced shows. The general on-sale will start July 14 at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster.com.

In announcing their plans to end their half-century run, the Eagles — composed of Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey — said they will play as many shows in each market as the audience demands, even if it requires returning to certain cities.

When does the tour officially kick-off?

The Eagles' final concerts begin Sept. 7 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Only a handful of dates have been announced so far, including Boston (Sept. 11); Denver (Oct. 5); Indianapolis (Oct. 9); Atlanta (Nov. 2); Lexington (Nov. 14); and St. Paul, Minnesota (Nov. 17).

"We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round," the band said in the statement. "So, scheduling information will be released as dates are set. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”

The Eagles Announce Fall Residency Set at Las Vegas' Sphere

The four-weekend residency at the famed venue promises fans the “ultimate connection” to the rock band’s legendary catalog

eagles goodbye tour tickets

Kevin Mazur

The Eagles are landing in Las Vegas' Sphere this fall for their upcoming residency.

On Thursday, June 13, the legendary rock band — comprised of members Don Henley , Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill and Deacon Frey (son of late founding member Glenn Frey ) — announced dates for eight shows across four weekends, kicking things off on Sept. 20.

Per a press release, the Vegas residency, which promises fans “the ultimate connection” to the group’s iconic catalog — including their acclaimed 1976 Hotel California album — with an “immersive” live experience, concludes on Oct. 19.

Pre-sale tickets will be available on June 18 at 10 a.m. PT, while general sale tickets go live on June 21 at 10 a.m. PT at eagles.com .

News of the Eagles’ Vegas residency comes almost a year after the band announced their last-ever tour , The Long Goodbye. “Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle,” the band shared in an emotional statement following 50+ years of touring, countless chart-topping singles and 150 million albums sold worldwide.

“The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds,” they added, also thanking their management team, road crew and backup musicians.

Their tour began with 13 initial dates before the rock band — formed in the fall of 1971 — extended it with two more 2024 Los Angeles shows to commemorate the 10th anniversary of their epic six-show residency at the Kia Forum.

The tour announcement came just a few short weeks before founding Eagles member and bassist Randy Meisner died from complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He was 77 years old.

"Randy was an integral part of the Eagles and instrumental in the early success of the band," the group said in a brief statement following the musician’s death. "His vocal range was astonishing, as is evident on his signature ballad, ‘Take It to the Limit.'”

During the Eagles’ prime, the band released seven studio albums, plus a best-of compilation titled To the Limit: The Essential Collection , which was released in January 2024. Looking back on the group’s legacy and discography — which fans will soon hear from Vegas’ Sphere — earlier this year, Henley told Louder , “The songs have taken on a life of their own.”

“We’re only curating them,” he continued. “We’re just the vehicle for presenting these songs to the people. We’ve come to realize what these songs mean to people, and how they’re part of their lives. You could call it nostalgia, and there’s nothing terrible about that, especially in times like these, when things are so unhinged and crazy. I think it gives people two and a half hours of relief from the crazy, chaotic world outside. Especially in America.”
