About Carnival Freedom
Free yourself of the daily routine on the 110,000-ton, 2,980-guest Carnival Freedom. Experience resort-style amenities on this Conquest Class ship with a happy atmosphere. Boasting a theme of time travel, public rooms are decorated to reflect historic periods, such as ancient Babylon, the Victorian era, the 1970s days of disco, complete with a glitter ball and the 1950s "golden era of sports" showcased in a bar.
Carnival Freedom was updated in 2014 with "Fun Ship 2.0" amenities, making her more family-friendly than ever, with added features for kids, a candy store, more entertainment options, unique and diverse bars, plus dining venues. She has everything today's cruisers are looking for in a vacation — lots of thrilling activities, spacious accommodations, mouthwatering cuisine and more. She boasts over 20 bars and lounges, plus a stunning nine-deck-high atrium, which is a popular meeting spot and a great place to people watch.
Families flock to this ship, with kids' programs with plenty of fun age-specific activities at a 4,200-square-foot playroom. Teens and tweens have their own soda bar and dance floor, while a video game arcade has air-hockey and other fun options.
Another highlight of Carnival Freedom are four swimming pools, including one for children, plus a thrilling three-deck-high 214-foot-long water slide for fun-lovers. The main pool is flanked by a set of super-large hot tubs where you can completely unwind. Indulge in some me time at the expansive 14,500-square-foot spa facility where European-style treatments will leave you feeling like new. A gym boasts the latest exercise equipment and the salon offers hair, nail and make-up services.
Mealtime is fun and easy as something is offered to please everyone's palate. A kids' menu has all their favorites, such as mac-n-cheese chicken nuggets and more, available at most onboard dining venues . Chic elegant dining rooms offer extensive menus as well as wine lists. Upscale dining is offered at the elegant steakhouse with an intimate ambiance. Enjoying the sun? Simply head to the casual poolside restaurant for a full breakfast, lunch and an incredible dinner buffet, where you can get a nosh at the New York-style deli, savor Asian dishes and much more. Dining room menus include vegetarian dishes, spa fare and other healthy choices. The ship also has a sushi bar, patisserie and complimentary 24/7 room service.
After an exciting day, retreat to roomy accommodations, filled with such amenities as ultra-comfy beds with plush mattresses, luxurious duvets and high quality sheets and linens. Select from a wide range to best suit your needs, including spacious staterooms with a balcony.
Exciting entertainment choices offers guests a variety to have a fantastic evening. Kick up your heels at the dance club, hear your favorite tunes at the piano bar, where you can join in sing-alongs and chill-out at the jazz club. The stunning three-level theater offers over-the-top Vegas-style song and dance productions along with music by a live orchestra.
Feel the freedom on this spectacular ship that is great for multi-generational cruising.

Blue Iguana Cantina

Nobody knows Mexican dining like a blue iguana. Well, our blue iguana, at least. That’s why it should come as no surprise that the BlueIguana Cantina features freshly made tacos and burritos stuffed specially for your enjoyment. Throw our homemade tortillas and salsa into the mix, and you have a casual dining experience that will make you say “mmmm” (which is actually Iguanese for “more, please”).

Guys burger joint
We went looking for someone to help us grill up the best burgers at sea, and we found just the guy. Carnival has teamed up with best-selling author, restaurateur and Food Network personality Guy Fieri to bring all the authentic appeal of a roadside burger shack to Guy’s Burger Joint, the cool poolside spot for hot burgers and hand-cut fries. Try a fresh-off-the-grill burger Guy’s way, or take it off-road to our toppings bar and truly make it your own.
Mongolian wok
Chow down on some delicious Asian goodness. First, select your noodles and veggies. Then tell one of our chefs which sauce and meat you want in the wok. Will it be mussels and Szechuan? Beef and Thai barbecue? Chicken and black bean? Don’t worry, the decision doesn’t have to be final — you can come back to Mongolian Wok and try all the combos your heart desires!
Ol Fashioned BBQ

Pizza pirate
Tossing dough is an age-old art passed down the generations. Lucky for you, someone passed us the secret to the perfect pie. While aboard, this is the place that will shiver your timbers and warm you to the bone, 24 hours a day, with a Margherita, Funghi, Prosciutto, Pepperoni or Quatttro Formaggi pizza served with a delicious Caesar salad. Savvy? Then it’s the pirates’ life for you!
Seafood Shack
A good seafood dish is quite the catch. However you like yours served — whether it’s on a roll or a platter — Seafood Shack’s the place to cast your net. Imagine a New-England-style seaside spot where you can take it all in, enjoying a great meal complete with a side of ocean view. On a Carnival cruise is where you’ll find this shack by the sea, wherever in the world you happen to be!

Ah, imagine a perfect day out on the links, the golfer's zen of the ball, the hole and nothing in between but well-manicured fairway... plus one cactus, a treasure chest... and wait, is that a windmill in the way? Just who designed this course anyway? Whoever it was, they had one thing in mind — maximum fun for mini-golfers, big and small! That's precisely why you'll find a course on every Carnival® ship, where you can hit the holes and take in everything you’d expect, like the sights and the sounds... plus the seagulls.

Beauty salon
A trip to the salon is an opportunity to relax, to chat with others, to focus on yourself. It’s about more than just getting your hair or nails done… but it’s definitely about getting your hair or nails done! Even though you’re on vacation, you won’t have to settle for anything less than the salon style you’re used to back on land. And these good looks go beyond the usual — we even offer services like teeth whitening… great for taking those ‘I’m on vacation and I’m looking great!’ smiles to the next level.
Aerobic Room
Aerobic Room.
Fitness center
We have some bad news for you — your ship has a gym. In other words, there’s no excuse for leaving your fitness routine back on land. That’s great news, however, for your body, which will definitely benefit from all the extra energy that vacationing pumps directly into you. And let’s not forget the extra time you’ll have, since you won’t be waking up and spending most of the day at the office or anything like that. If those were some of your go-to excuses, we’re sorry, but we all know this is important. Why not treat yourself to some of our fitness classes — you might even have a little fun while you do something great for yourself!
Massage room
Cruising always feels good, but it doesn’t usually — ooh, right there. Right where? Sorry, we’re at the onboard spa, where they do these amazing massages by hand. But they don’t just stop there — they’ve got tools to enhance the benefits too. Select from different hands-on experiences featuring seaweed for detox, herbal poultice for energy, bamboo for deep tissue penetration and hot stones for — ahhh — for perfection. We know you’re all about feeling good, and so are these massages.
Spa Carnival
Burn off some calories with a workout in the gym or an invigorating aerobics class. Then rejuvenate in the steam room or sauna. Next, it's time for a relaxing full-body massage. Finally, head to the beauty salon for a facial, manicure, pedicure, the works! Now you're ready for an exciting evening onboard ship.

Alchemy Bar
No magic spells are required to enjoy a cocktail creation at Alchemy Bar®, our unique vintage-themed cocktail "pharmacy" — all you need is a willingness to be surprised, to try something new. We’ve flipped through dusty old texts to uncover enticing combinations: select spirits, fresh juices, infused syrups, spices… and other tantalizing secrets performed before your very eyes by the true mix-masters: our bartenders. Choose a remedy from the menu, or let us prescribe you a custom elixir just for you, with or without alcohol.
Blue Iguana tequila bar
BlueIguana Tequila Bar is the onboard spot to chill and enjoy a slushy tequila drink or an ice-cold Mexican cerveza. The menu offers up Mexican favorites, including several brands of tequila and a slew of Mexican brews. There’s a lineup of frozen concoctions, cocktails and margaritas served by the glass or by the pitcher, and even a special Mexican beer cocktail (yes, really).

Get into an island state of mind before you even set foot on one. RedFrog Pub is our laid-back, no-worries, oh-so-lively Key West-inspired pub. So kick back and feel the island vibe come to life. You’ll be a local here before you know it.
Red Frog Rum Bar
Guests have told us we hit on something special with the cool Caribbean chill of the RedFrog Pub. We've taken the best parts and brought them poolside with the RedFrog Rum Bar, where the frog keeps the fun hopping day and night with all the island flava you know and love. Join the party at this poolside bar featuring a great selection of frog-approved Caribbean rum-based concoctions available by the glass or pitcher, plus plenty of Carnival’s signature private-label draft beer, ThirstyFrog Red.

Carnival Freedom Cruise Ship Profile and Tour
The Carnival Freedom became the 22th ship in the Carnival Cruise Lines' fleet in February 2007. The 3000-passenger, 110,000-ton ship is a sister ship to the Carnival Liberty , which was launched in 2005. The Carnival Freedom offers a wide range of amenities including almost two dozen lounges and bars, a huge spa, jogging track, Internet café, and four swimming pools—one with a 214-foot-long water slide.
The vessel debuted during the 35th anniversary of Miami-based Carnival Cruise Lines, a company that began with just one ship. Its parent company, Carnival Corp. & plc, has grown into the world's largest cruise company.
The Carnival Freedom arrived in Venice, Italy, following a short voyage from the Italian Fincantieri shipyard on March 3, 2007. The cruise ship is 952 feet long and has 1,487 staterooms.
Dining Venues on the Carnival Freedom Cruise Ship
The Seafood Shack was added to the Carnival Freedom in 2017 and is the newest dining venue on the cruise ship. The a la carte seafood venue is appropriately located within the ship's poolside Lido restaurant and offers a variety of fresh-from-the-sea delicacies such as lobster rolls, lobster BLTs, crab cake sliders, fish and chips, and a fried seafood platter with shrimp, clams, calamari, and fish. There are also buckets of fried buffalo shrimp and fried clams or a combination featuring both items. Diners can also enjoy steamed lobster, snow crab, and peel and eat shrimp, and oysters, all available at market price.
The Carnival Freedom offers a wide variety of other casual and formal dining options , including the Chic and Posh formal dining rooms with diverse menus and wine lists; a casual poolside restaurant, Freedom Restaurant, with full breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets and a 24-hour pizzeria, Guy's Burger Joint, and the Blue Iguana Cantina. The ship also has an intimate reservations-recommended specialty steakhouse serving U.S.D.A. prime dry-aged beef, seafood and other cuisine.
Dining room menus also include vegetarian dishes and children’s menus, as well as Spa Carnival Fare, delicious health-conscious menu items that are lower in fat, sodium, cholesterol and calories. The ship also features a patisserie and a sushi bar, as well as 24-hour room service and ice cream and frozen yogurt.
Carnival Freedom Cruise Ship Interiors
The multi-deck atrium on the Carnival Freedom is bright, noisy, and full of activity. Like many large cruise ships, the atrium is the hub of the ship. The rest of the interiors take guests on a journey through the centuries by decade. Public rooms looking like they came from ancient Babylonia, the disco era, 19th-century Victorian, and the contemporary style of the 1990s, all celebrate many periods in time on the Carnival Freedom.
Highlights include the ship’s Victorian show lounge named after Britain’s Queen Victoria and designed to evoke theaters in London’s West End with ornate moldings, fancy marble and gold leaf; Studio 70 dance club, which recreates the ambiance of the famed Studio 54 disco in New York with black interior, spinning mirror balls hanging from the ceiling, and pulsating lights; and Player’s Sports Bar, which shines with chrome, sports medallions and memorabilia highlighting the 1950s, often referred to as the “golden era of sports.”
Among other decades represented in Carnival Freedom’s public rooms are the American Revolution era of the 1770s in the Monticello Library; the 1910s in Scott’s piano bar, named after ragtime piano master Scott Joplin; the 1930s in Swingtime jazz club; and the 900s in the Dynasty Room, an homage to ancient China.
Guests sailing on the Carnival Freedom will appreciate the ship’s 14,500-square-foot “Spa Carnival” facility, which features exercise equipment, a gymnasium, and body and facial treatments, including a number of exotic “European-style” therapies. The ship also features a salon offering a variety of hair, nail, and make-up services.
Outdoor Decks on the Carnival Freedom
Like all Carnival cruise ships, the Carnival Freedom has lots of places for outdoor fun. Carnival Freedom also houses four swimming pools, including a children’s wading pool and an aft pool offering a 214-foot-long water slide.
Carnival Freedom also features the line’s popular “Carnival Seaside Theatre,” a massive 270-square-foot LED screen on Lido Deck displaying movies, concerts, sporting events, and other programming, including a “Morning Show” hosted by the ship’s cruise director. Utilizing the same technology featured in large stadiums and New York’s Times Square, the state-of-the-art entertainment system includes a 70,000-watt sound system, providing concert quality sound, even outdoors.
Carnival Freedom Home Port and Itineraries
Galveston, Texas is the year-round home port for the Carnival Freedom, and the ship sails seven-day cruises to the Caribbean, Mexico, and the Bahamas.

Thanks to a major refurbishment in March 2019, Carnival Freedom features a Bonsai Sushi Express, a rebranded deli, a WaterWorks waterpark (with a 203-foot-long slide), an aerobics room within the gym and a mini-golf course. On top of that, the 2,980-passenger vessel features all of the “Fun Ship 2.0” amenities, including Guy’s Burger Joint and BlueIguana Cantina. The ship also received some general maintenance work in 2023.
While parents relax at the Serenity adults-only retreat, children ages 2 to 17 can enjoy age-appropriate youth clubs and the Seuss at Sea program, which is aimed at younger patrons. Recent guests note that shows at the Punchliner Comedy Club can be a bit raunchy, so they may not be appropriate for children.
Food options are also versatile, including two main dining rooms, a steakhouse, and the Lido Deck which offers everything from pizza to the popular Mongolian Wok.
As far as cabins go, cruisers can choose from Interior, Ocean View, Balcony or Suite category rooms, all of which offer flat-screen TVs and 24-hour room service. Recent passengers note that thanks to the 3-to-1 passenger-to-crew ratio, service is above par.
Carnival Freedom sails from Orlando and Barcelona, Spain , to destinations in the Caribbean and transatlantic voyages.

Carnival Freedom's next two sailings canceled after funnel fire, second within 2 years
A fire in the exhaust funnel of the Carnival Freedom this weekend has disrupted a cruise for the second time in less than two years — and will mean that the Florida-based ship's next two sailings are canceled.
Damage to the funnel will require the cancellation of Carnival's next two cruises out of Port Canaveral, which were scheduled to depart Monday and Friday.
There were about 3,700 passengers onboard the ship when the fire occured. And the two upcoming sailings, which were canceled, likely would have had a similar passenger count amid the busy Spring Break season.
Carnival initially had said it expected no changes in its upcoming cruises, but on Sunday afternoon said the cancellations would be required.
"Regrettably, the damage is more than we first thought, and will require an immediate repair to stabilize the funnel, resulting in the cancellation of the March 25 and March 29 cruises from Port Canaveral," according to a statement issued by Matt Lupoli, Carnival Cruise Line's senior manager of public relations. "The funnel has been stabilized for the ship’s return to Port Canaveral overnight to disembark guests, and then it will go to the Freeport shipyard on Monday afternoon to begin the required repairs."
Carnival said it made the decision after "our technical team completed a thorough assessment" during the ship’s visit Sunday to Freeport in the Bahamas.
In the statement, Carnival said: "We sincerely regret the impact to our embarking guests, as we know they have been looking forward to their spring break vacation. We are providing all guests on both canceled cruises a full refund and a 100% future cruise credit, so they can come back and enjoy a future cruise with us. We also greatly appreciate the terrific guests who are currently sailing with us, for their outstanding cooperation and support."
In a Facebook post, Carnival's widely followed brand ambassador, John Heald, conceded that many people who booked one of the canceled cruises are "feeling very disappointed," and he apologized for the turn of events.
But, Heald added that he wanted to assure affected passengers that, "when you rebook, using your full refund and your 100% future cruise credit, that the crew will be standing by to give you all the fun you deserve."
More than 500 people responded to the post, with many saying they thought Carnival was generous with the compensation offer. But some people who said they were on the cruise that experienced the fire said they thought Carnival should have done more for the people who were on the ship.
Carnival said the fire was confined to the funnel area. The cruise line said there are no reports of injuries to passengers. Two firefighting crew members were treated for minor smoke inhalation.
Carnival said that, at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday, the Carnival Freedom reported a fire on the port side of the ship’s exhaust funnel. The ship was 20 miles off Eleuthera Island, Bahamas, heading to Freeport after a canceled call to the Carnival private island of Princess Cays due to adverse weather.
"The ship’s fire response team was quickly activated, and the ship’s captain also turned the vessel towards the heavy rain in the area to maximize the efforts to put out the flames," an earlier Carnival statement said. "Eyewitnesses reported the possibility of a lightning strike, and that is being investigated, but cannot yet be confirmed."
By 5:20 p.m. Saturday, the fire was extinguished.
How safe are cruise stops? Travel advisories are only one marker for destinations
Carnival said the ship's captain made multiple announcements to passengers and crew, and advised all but essential safety personnel to stay away from balconies and all open decks.
The port-side portion of the funnel had fallen onto Deck 10, and the firefighting response put out any flames.
The U.S. Coast Guard has been notified of the fire, and Carnival activated its incident response team to support the ship’s crew.
Carnival said there were no other operational issues with the ship’s systems, and the ship, which was on a four-night cruise, was visiting Freeport on Sunday.
A cruise ship funnel generally serves as a smokestack to lift emissions above the deck, thus away from passengers and crew.
On Saturday evening, "Carnival Freedom guests enjoyed the Elegant Night dinner as planned, and, with the exception of the open decks, all areas of the ship are fully functioning," Carnival said in its statement.
The Carnival Freedom's next voyage was scheduled to depart from Port Canaveral on Monday afternoon on a five-night Eastern Caribbean cruise. That cruise had port-of-call stops scheduled at Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic and at Grand Turk Island in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
But that sailing and a Friday sailing both have been canceled. Friday's five-night sailing also was scheduled to stop at those two ports of call, but in reverse order.
In May 2022 , a fire broke out in the funnel area of the Carnival Freedom while it was docked in Grand Turk. Carnival then canceled three scheduled sailings of the Carnival Freedom out of Port Canaveral because of the need to repair the ship's fire damage at a shipyard in Grand Bahama.
More recently, in October 2023, the Carnival Freedom debuted a new iconic winged funnel after returning from a 16-day dry-dock refurbishment in Cadiz, Spain.

Carnival Freedom cruise ship catches fire near Bahamas
TAMPA, Fla. ( WFLA ) — A Carnival Cruise ship’s funnel caught on fire during their voyage near the Bahamas on Saturday.
Carnival said that at 3:15 p.m., the Carnival Freedom reported a fire on the port side from the ship’s exhaust funnel.
In a statement from Carnival, the team said, “The ship’s fire response team was quickly activated, and the ship’s captain also turned the vessel towards the heavy rain in the area to maximize the efforts to put out the flames. Eyewitnesses reported the possibility of a lightning strike and that is being investigated but cannot yet be confirmed.”
A portion of the funnel on the port side fell onto Deck 10.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire at 5:20 p.m. All aboard were asked to stay away from balconies and open decks for their safety.
Two crew members fighting the fire were treated for minor smoke inhalation, according to Carnival. As of this report, there are no reported injuries for guests.
The U.S. Coast Guard was alerted and has activated their response team. The cruise is expected to continue sailing to Freeport and arrive on Sunday morning.
The ship was around 20 miles from Eleuthera Island in the Bahamas, heading to Freeport. The ship departed from Port Canaveral on Thursday for a four-day trip.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are investigating two seemingly separate outbreaks of Norovirus linked to U.S. cruise ships.
Cases have been linked to Princess Cruises' Sapphire Princess and Royal Caribbean International's Radiance of the Seas.
The CDC's Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP) is tracking the "very contagious" outbreaks following reports of passengers in distress .

"Norovirus is a very contagious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea. Anyone can get infected and sick with Norovirus," the CDC states on its website. "Norovirus is sometimes called the 'stomach flu' or 'stomach bug.' However, norovirus illness is not related to the flu, which is caused by influenza virus."
One of the biggest health risks posed by Norovirus infection is dehydration — the CDC recommends those infected drink plenty of liquids to aid recovering.
The CDC's Vessel Sanitation Program requires cruise lines to report and document cases of illness on their ships in order to facilitate coordinated responses in case of emergency.

Great cruise if only it was clean by Drea22. Sail date: Apr 13, 2024 / Traveled as: Couple. Ship: Carnival Freedom. Overall the cruise was okay. 2 of the 3 ports were decent. The food was okay. The cleanliness should be very focused on the food area alot. Too many people not washing their hands before grabbing food.
