'Gordon Ramsay's American Road Trip' on Fox — everything you need to know

Gordon, Gino and Fred are back on the road again — and this time they're discovering North America

Gordon Ramsay's American Road Trip

Following the huge success of his European adventures, Gordon Ramsay is back, and this time his mammoth new RV "Betty the Beast" will be hitting the highways to travel from Mexico to Texas for his most outrageous road trip yet.

It's Gordon Ramsay's American Road Trip — and this is everything you need to know about the foodie show.

How to watch Gordon Ramsay's American Road Trip

Gordon Ramsay's American Road Trip is available in the U.S. on Fox, at 8 p.m. Eastern time starting Tuesday, Jan. 5.

After that you'll be able to watch it on Fox on demand.

The one-night special will see the tight-knit trio taking in the sights and culinary delights of Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Texas and Tijuana.

Fox is available on most every major streaming service in the United States. (With the exception of Sling TV, which only has Fox in select markets.)

Our recommendation is to check out FuboTV . In addition to local Fox networks, FuboTV has a competitive list of channels, as well as premium add-ons. And it's even better if you're a sports fan, with options for international events that you can't find anywhere else.

Get the What to Watch Newsletter

The latest updates, reviews and unmissable series to watch and more!

FuboTV starts at $59.99 a month the most basic package of 95 channels, and you can build things up from there.

How to watch Gordon Ramsay's American Road Trip from anywhere in the world

If you're not in your usual Fox viewing market and still want to watch Gordon Ramsay's American Road Trip, a VPN might be just the thing that keeps the food juices flowing.

A VPN allows your network traffic to flow through a specific set of servers in a specific country. So if you want to watch Fox in the U.S., you can watch Fox in the U.S.

The only catch is you need to be able to trust your VPN provider, because all of your network traffic — encrypted and unencrypted alike — will be flowing through it. For that, we've long been fans of ExpressVPN .

ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN is one of the easiest and affordable ways to watch what you want from anywhere you want to watch it. Plus it'll help keep your network traffic away from any prying eyes on public networks.

And it's a great way to watch all the Gordon Ramsay you want —  from anywhere in the world.

Who stars in Gordon Ramsay's American Road Trip?

No-nonsense Gordon is joined by fellow celebrity chefs Gino D’Acampo and Fred Sirieix, both of whom are familiar faces on British TV.

Gino is a renowned (and hilarious) Italian celebrity chef, who rose to fame as a regular chef on daytime TV show This Morning in the UK and is also a panelist on Keith Lemon's show Celebrity Juice .

As well as cooking up a storm on TV, Gino also has a hugely successful line of cookbooks in the UK.

Fred is a famous French Maitre d'hotel and has appeared on shows like Channel 4's First Dates and BBC Two's Million Pound Menu.

What happens in Gordon Ramsay's American Road Trip?

Along the way the trio’s antics will include wallet-busting burgers, dune buggy racing, goat yoga, spear fishing, cowboy capers and wild wrestling — not to mention an array of interesting ingredients, including tequila in a salad!

What could possibly go wrong?

As always there is plenty of hilarious banter, bickering and ego-bashing thrown in for good measure.

With Gino and Fred both loyal to their European roots, will Gordon be able to convince the culinary experts that food in the US lives up to its reputation for being bigger and better than anywhere else in the world?

While the trio might try to outdo one another as they sample the local delicacies and fight to be crowned the next king of the kitchen, they all have one thing in common — a shared passion for good food.

As well as all things soap-related, Claire also loves running, spa breaks, days out with her kids, and getting lost in a good book.

Lisa Vanderpump Says Working With Gordon Ramsay On 'Food Stars' Involved "Handling Him” And "Getting Him To Settle Down And Shut The F*** Up Sometimes"

Gordon Ramsay ‘s American Road Trip is actually an edited version of the 2nd season of  Gordon, Gino & Fred’s Road Trip , a series that aired on ITV in Britain and is on the UK version of BritBox. That’s important to note, because it means this wasn’t just a random road trip for Ramsay and his buddies Gino D’Acampo and Fred Sirieix, it was a well-planned season of a food and travel show. But, by taking a four-episode, 3-plus-hour season and whittling it down to 82 minutes (without ads), does the show still make sense?

GORDON RAMSAY’S AMERICAN ROAD TRIP : STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?

The Gist: Gordon Ramsay, whose shows seemingly fill up half of Fox’s primetime schedule, took his two best friends, Italian chef Gino D’Acampo and French maître d’hôtel Fred Siriex, in a souped-up RV on a road trip through the western United States and Tijuana.  Gordon Ramsay’s American Road Trip is the result.

Actually, as mentioned above, this is an edited-down version of the second season of the ITV series Gordon, Gino & Fred’s Road Trip , where the trio took the RV, nicknamed “Betty,” on the road from Tijuana to Las Vegas and Arizona, back to Los Angeles, up to San Francisco, and then back down and over to Texas. Along the way, the friends do different American things, like work on a dude ranch, race buggies on a track (where Gino somehow crashes into Betty, inexplicably parked near the track), go fishing, and try their hand at real Texas barbecue for a crowd or rodeo workers.

But, the special — edited in a way so that they start in Las Vegas, go to AZ, then LA, then SF,  then Mexico and Texas — also shows the years-long friendship between Ramsay, D’Acampo and Siriex. They make silly bets with each other; at Gordon’s LA mansion, Fred and Gino bet Gordon that the burger that Gordon’s mom likes better will have to dive into Gordon’s pool buck naked. They bust each others’ balls, as Gordon scares Gino with the stuffed deead animals adorning the cabin they stayed in after fishing.

They also discover the west via various cuisines, like when they race to make fortune cookies in San Fran’s Chinatown, or when they go to Snow’s BBQ in Texas to talk to pitmaster Tootsie Tomanetz .

What Specials Will It Remind You Of?: A goofier version of Ramsay’s other travel series, Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted.

Performance Worth Watching: Gino D’Acampo readily admits he’s not the manliest alpha male around, but it’s fun watching him get scared in a helicopter over the Grand Canyon or duck into the gondola of a hot air balloon over Napa.

Memorable Dialogue: After Gino tries to wedge the RV down Lombard Street in SF, he tells Gordon he could have made it. “Just because you’re the king of the kitchen, doesn’t mean you’re the king of the street.”

Sex and Skin: Besides seeing these three middle-aged men skinny dipping in Texas, or Gino wearing assless chaps (appropriately blurred out for American network television), there’s nothing.

Our Take: The disjointedness of  Gordon Ramsay’s American Road Trip made me wonder if this wasn’t intended to be a special, and my suspicion was confirmed when I found that it was the second season of  Gordon, Gino’s and Fred’s Road Trip. That season was only four 45-50 minute episodes, but that also means that more than half of the trip was sliced out to accommodate the 85-minute (without commercials) running time for Fox. The rejiggering of the order, as well as the seeming incompleteness of the trip, makes the special tough to watch.

There’s also the fact that, like in  Uncharted , Ramsay uses his locales and the people in it more as a backdrop for his cooking and the shenanigans of him and his buddies than as a deep exploration of the people and culture of a region, and how it’s communicated through its food. Not that it’s a bad thing; not everyone needs to be the late Anthony Bourdain or, as Taste The Nation showed, Padma Lakshmi. But there are points during the special where they come off as Ugly Europeans, picking off the most stereotypical of American experiences but not digging any deeper.

Because of his experience in the States, Ramsay seems to be more interested in the deeper American culture than his buddies, no matter what they say about always wanting to be cowboys or some such. It’s a bit jarring, but a lot of that may be hyped up for the cameras.

What we liked the most about the special was the friendship between Gordon, Gino and Fred. Yes, it’s pretty immature at times, given the fact that all of these men are well into their 40s and 50s. But they also keep each other in check, and any program that shows Ramsay on a human level instead of a mouth yelling curses, which seems to be how Fox wants him to look, is a bonus. But there’s too much about this special that made us cringe.

Our Call: SKIP IT. If you can get hold of  Gordon, Gino & Fred’s Road Trip , watch that instead of the Frankensteined version of it.  Gordon Ramsay’s American Road Trip doesn’t say enough about Ramsay, his buddies or America to be worth your time.

Gordon Ramsay says he's 'lucky to be here' after bike accident

Gordon Ramsay during the Cinch Scottish Premiership match between Rangers FC and Celtic FC at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow, Scotland

Gordon Ramsay says he’s “lucky to be here” after crashing his bicycle earlier this week in Connecticut.

“I had a really bad accident, and it really shook me. Honestly, I’m lucky to be here,” the “MasterChef” star, 57, said in a graphic video he shared to  Instagram  June 15.

Ramsay went on to acknowledge the “incredible” doctors and nurses who treated his injuries at a hospital before urging followers to wear a helmet on every bike ride.

“I don’t care how short the journey is. I don’t care, you know, the fact that these helmets cost money, but they’re crucial,” he said to fans. “Even with the kids, a short journey, they’ve got to wear a helmet.”

“I’m lucky to be standing here. I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week, and I’m sort of getting through it,” Ramsay said, lifting up his chef’s jacket to reveal his horrifically bruised torso.

“But I cannot tell you the importance of wearing a helmet,” he added.

Ramsay also included “before” and “after” shots from the accident along with his message.

In the first image, the celebrity chef stood next to his road bike wearing cycling clothes, sunglasses and a helmet. A second photo taken after the accident showed Ramsay’s helmet in tatters. His cycling shirt was ripped up with a large hole in the chest.

In his caption, Ramsay, a longtime cycling enthusiast who has competed in multiple triathlons, again urged fans to wear a helmet.

“With #FathersDay tomorrow I have very important message for all the dads out there…WEAR A HELMET ! This week I had a really bad accident while riding my bike in Connecticut. I’m doing ok and did not break any bones or suffer any major injuries but I am a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato,” he wrote.

“I’m thankful for all the doctors, nurses and staff at Lawerence + Memorial Hospital in New London who looked after me and checked me out, but most thankful for my helmet that saved my life. Have a great Father’s Day and be safe Gx,” he added.

In 2014, Ramsay opened up to  The Telegraph  about his love of cycling and competing in triathlons.

One of the perks of cycling, said the chef, is getting to sample food from the small towns he sees on his rides.

“It’s like I’m on The Great British Bake Off. I’m finding these amazing little tea rooms in villages with these carrot cakes and Victoria sponges that are beyond belief,” he said, adding that a few months prior he had done something “really naughty” while riding.

“I’d been cycling for five hours and I ate the whole f------ cake,” he recalled. “It was a 9-inch Victoria sponge. I felt so bad.”

Gordon Ramsay is right – I’m astounded by reckless cyclists without helmets

Commuting by bike, you see how selfish and arrogant all road users can be and how other cyclists can be more threatening than cars.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - DECEMBER 13: Gordon Ramsay attends the 2023 FOX Winter Junket at Fox Studio Lot on December 13, 2023 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Leon Bennett/Getty Images)

I started cycling to work recently. In many ways I love it – I get to enjoy the weather, I avoid the unbearable crowding of public transport , and my Santander membership works out far cheaper than the tube.

I’d been worried about sharing the road with cars, but so far, it seems my fears were somewhat unfounded – because it’s the other cyclists that terrify me.

On any given day riding through London, I see cyclists hopping between the crowded pavement and busy road to get past traffic; weaving through cars and actually riding down the wrong side of the road for long spans of time; suddenly changing direction without indicating. And of course, hardly any helmets.

So unusually, I find myself applauding chef Gordon Ramsay , who has appealed to cyclists to wear a helmet, following a bad accident on his bike that saw him hospitalised. He shared pictures of his injuries and said: “It really shook me and honestly I’m lucky to be here … I don’t care how short the journey is, helmets are crucial”.

@GordonRamsay 'An important #FathersDay message from me?WEAR A HELMET ! This week I had a bad accident while riding my bike in CT. I'm doing ok and I?m thankful for all the doctors, nurses and staff at @LMHospital who looked after me but most thankful for my helmet that saved my life. Be Safe' Screen grab from Twitter https://x.com/GordonRamsay/status/1801996837689418164

I like to think I’m a responsible cyclist. I wear a helmet, I rarely run red lights (unless the street is empty), and I try to stick to the left hand side of the road so as not to bother the cars. I passed my cycling proficiency test at primary school with ease, thank you very much. And I know that many of my fellow two-wheelers are similarly careful. But I’m still stunned by the arrogant behaviour I witness on my commute.

It’s as though some cyclists, in their effort to take up adequate space, have chosen to pretend that roads aren’t dangerous. Not only do many opt out of wearing a helmet, they instead wear enormous headphones , and thus don’t hear others coming up behind them.

During my last cycle home I heard a man belligerently yell at a woman crossing the road, calling her a “stupid cow”; I was overtaken repeatedly by serious cyclists who seem mad at me for getting in the way; and I had to swerve to avoid Lime bikes strewn across the road and riders joyriding on busy streets.

Gordon Ramsay says he’s lucky to be here after ‘really bad’ cycling accident

Despite how curmudgeonly I sound, I’m actually a fan of e-bikes – I happily opt for an electric option of Santander bike when I don’t feel like breaking a sweat. It’s deeply fun to zip around with the aid of a motor – you get all the fun of cycling and none of the exhaustion. But it does make cycling feel more like a game – and the number of people who use them without helmets is ridiculous, given the speeds they can reach.

In the reported casualties around e-bikes, the most of those who have died were the riders, and the number of reported casualties involving e-bike riders increased from five in 2018 to 98 in 2021 , though the Metropolitan police notes those numbers could well be higher.

I can understand the behaviour of my fellow cyclists, to a certain extent. It is precarious to be perched on two wheels surrounded by lethal metal boxes, and it can feel like you have to assert yourself in order to survive. According to latest stats, an average of two cyclists a week died between 2018 and 2022 in road casualties, while 81 a week were seriously injured. Those numbers aren’t insignificant.

There’s also that much peddled stat suggesting that you’re safer if you ride without a helmet because drivers give you a wider berth as they go past (research remains mixed on this because every accident is different and it’s virtually impossible to recreate all the variables in a safe environment).

Plus, it’s easy to feel your back up against the wall when you are encouraged to cycle by work schemes and e-bikes but don’t have allocated road space and everyone seems mad at you all the time. I understand clinging to the idea we shouldn’t have to rely on helmets and people should make space for us – the best-case scenario is for our roads to be safe enough that hardly anyone wears a helmet and head injuries remain low, just like in Amsterdam and in Denmark.

When paired with the fact you have to be assertive to cycle in a city, riding like a nutter makes sense. But cycling recklessly, helmetless, is not going to help anyone in the short term.

Recently, there have been calls for death by dangerous cycling to become a criminal offence. It’s an important reminder that just because our machines are far less powerful than cars, it doesn’t mean they’re not dangerous, especially in reckless hands.

When walking my dog recently we passed some primary school children, decked out in helmets and hi-vis vests, practising their own cycling proficiency. Their teacher stood to the side, teaching them to stick to the side of the road all while pedalling steadily before coming to an indicated stop. They were all far more respectful of the road than some of the riders I see on my daily commute. Clearly, the cycling public should sign up for a refresher course.

Gordon Ramsay is "lucky to be here" after a "really bad" bike accident while he was in Connecticut.

"This week, unfortunately, I had a really bad accident, and it really shook me," the Hell's Kitchen host said in a video posted to social media.

The celebrity chef did not share many details about the accident but says he was treated at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, and he thanked the "incredible trauma surgeons, doctors (and) nurses" who looked after him. In the video, he lifted his chef's jacket to show a deep purple bruise on his side.

Ramsay has a restaurant in Connecticut, Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen Foxwoods . He was in the area on Memorial Day Weekend as well, which included a trip to Watch Hill in Rhode Island.

Gordon Ramsay: 'Wear a helmet'

Ramsay, who said he is "in pain" after the "brutal" week, also turned his update into a PSA about the importance of wearing a helmet, telling his followers he wouldn't "be here now" if he didn't. He shared photos from before and after the accident, with the latter showing his banged-up helmet.

"You've got to wear a helmet," Ramsay stressed. "I don't care how short the journey is. I don't care the fact that these helmets cost money. But they're crucial."

He added that it's important that children wear their helmets too.

Ramsay's message came after Nina Dobrev, 35, said last month she was injured in a biking accident. On Instagram, "The Vampire Diaries" star shared before-and-after photos, the first showing her on an e-bike and the second showing her in the hospital. "How it started vs how it’s going," she captioned the post.

Dobrev also wrote in an Instagram story at the time, "I'm OK but it's going to be a long road of recovery ahead."

‘I’m lucky to be here’: Gordon Ramsay gives important Father’s Day message after bike accident

NEW LONDON, CT ( WFSB /Gray News) - Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay gave an important Father’s Day message after he had a “bad” bike accident in Connecticut.

In a post made to his X page, formerly known as Twitter, Ramsay reminded people to wear a helmet when riding bikes.

“I’d like to share a very important message with you all,” he said. “You know how much I love cycling... this week, unfortunately, I had a really bad accident. And it really shook me. And honestly, I’m lucky to be here.”

Ramsay did not say where the accident happened but said he received care from L&M Hospital in New London. He thanked the doctors, nurses, and trauma surgeons who took care of him.

“They were amazing,” Ramsay said. “But honestly, you’ve got to wear a helmet. I don’t care how short the journey is, I don’t care the fact that these helmets cost money, but they are crucial. Even with the kids, with a short journey, they’ve got to wear a helmet.”

Ramsay also revealed a large area of discoloring on his abdomen.

He said he’s still in pain, and it has been a “brutal week,” but he wanted to wish all fathers and new fathers a happy Father’s Day.

In a statement, L&M Hospital said, “Bike accidents are a common injury we see in the Emergency Department, especially during the summer months when people are more active. Wearing the right equipment, especially a helmet, can significantly reduce the likelihood of serious injury. Helmets decrease the risk of head injury by 48%, serious head injury by 60%, traumatic brain injury by 53%, face injury by 23%, and the total number of killed or seriously injured cyclists by 34%.”

MasterChef star Gordon Ramsay escapes major injury after cycling crash in United States

A man wearing white chef clothes and a black watch

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay had a "brutal week" leading up to Father's Day after a bicycle crash left him in need of trauma surgery.

The British star took to social media on Sunday, local time, telling fans he had been in an accident while biking in the US state of Connecticut early last week, and was still in pain and recovering.

A person holding up their shirt to show a large purple bruise on the side of their torso.

In the one-minute clip, Ramsay showed massive bruising on one side of his torso — with its dark purple colour indicating the wound was fresh and unhealed — and stressed the need to wear a helmet at all times.

"This week unfortunately I had a really bad accident, and it really shook me. Honestly, I'm lucky to be here," he said.

"Those incredible trauma surgeons, doctors, nurses, who looked after me this week, they were amazing but honestly you've got to wear a helmet.

"I don't care how short the journey is, I don't care [about] the fact that these helmets cost money, but they're crucial. Even with the kids, or a short journey."

Ramsay clarified in a separate Instagram post he had escaped major injury including any fractures, largely due to having had a helmet on.

The 57-year-old also shared before-and-after images showing parts of his helmet broken and clothing ripped.

"Now, I'm lucky to be standing here. I'm in pain, it's been a brutal week, and I'm sort of getting through it," he said.

Veteran triathlete

Two cyclists wearing black and red biking apparel, helmets, and one wearing glasses.

While renowned as one of the biggest names in the culinary world, Ramsay is also an accomplished triathlete and has completed several Ironman races.

He finished a full Ironman, regarded as one of the world's most challenging athletic competitions, in 2013 with a finish time of just over 14 hours, and attempted it again two years later.

Ramsay has also done shorter versions of the challenge, like the Ironman 70.3 Florida in 2012, along with regularly running marathons in London.

The MasterChef and Hell's Kitchen star runs 58 restaurants around the world as of this year, and hosts reality TV competition series Gordon Ramsay's Food Stars.

Gordon Ramsay reveals horrific injuries from near-fatal bike accident in gruesome photos

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay opened up about his brush with death after a terrifying cycling mishap left him bruised and shaken.

In a candid Instagram post, the famed 57-year-old restaurateur showed off extensive bruising and urged fans to don protective gear. "With #FathersDay tomorrow I have very important message for all the dads out there...WEAR A HELMET ! This week I had a really bad accident while riding my bike in Connecticut. I'm doing ok and did not break any bones or suffer any major injuries but I am a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato."

Further expressing his gratitude he continued, "I'm thankful for all the doctors, nurses and staff at Lawerence + Memorial Hospital in New London who looked after me and checked me out, but most thankful for my helmet that saved my life. Have a great Father's Day and be safe Gx."

Ramsey's followers quickly flooded his Instagram with messages of relief and support. One fan expressed, "Ramsey, I'm happy to hear that you're ok. What a scare I'm sure. The world is a better place because of people like you, so whatever you do, stay safe."

Others chimed in with comments like "Thank boost for sharing, so glad you're okay Gordon! ! " and heartwarming messages of "WE LOVE YA CHEF."

Alongside well-wishes, a follower remarked, "Glad to hear that you're alive ! Great message."

In related news, earlier in the month, Gordon's daughter Holly drew attention and possibly her father's disapproval by sharing a daring picture of herself in partial attire, sporting designer overalls.

She captioned the post: "How I wanted them to look vs how they look [shifty eyes emoji] still obsessed though."

This was accompanied by two pictures - one of how it should look if it fit properly and the other of how it actually looked. Taking off her bra, she turned to the side which showed off side-boob and fans could also see a bit of her tattoo.

And fans took to social media to express their opinion. One said: "No I'm obsessed! ! " Another added: ""Call the tailor bc they're too sick to ditch.

" And a third commented: "You look amazing in them. "But many opted to post gifs of her dad as a joke. Her post comes after she paid tribute to her boyfriend Adam Peaty to celebrate their first year anniversary. Smiling at the camera as they sipped cocktails, she wrote: "365 + days with you. I love you. And I haven't stopped smiling."

Just a few days earlier, Adam shared the exact same photo alongside a series of family pictures with Holly, including her younger siblings and his three-year-old son George.Adam shares a son with his ex girlfriend Eirianedd Munro, and wrote: "Grateful for every second I'm able to be present. " Holly's parents were quick to post messages of congratulations. Tana wrote: "I love this x." And Gordon said: "Congrats both @adam_peaty @hollyramsayy. ".
