For Team India though, they will quickly need to bounce back after enduring a tough Super Four stage at the Asia Cup. So with an opportunity to bounce back, here is a look at all the details from Australia’s tour of India 2022.

Here is a quick look at the details of the Australia Tour of India 2022. The teams will be rooting to lock horns.

Australia Tour of India

The Australia tour of India 2022 will begin just after India gets done with its Asia Cup campaign. Australia is one of the most difficult teams to beat in world cricket . Even if the Australian team is weak at times on paper, the “Kangaroos” show immense character and passion on the field. They have a never say die attitude. Australia has announced its squad for this series. India is yet to announce the same. Here is an in-depth look at the schedule and the other details:

Full Schedule for Australia tour of India 2022:

Indian team preview: .

The Indian team will be coming from a very long Asia Cup campaign. If we consider that India plays the final in Asia Cup 2022, then it becomes more difficult for them to recover and rejuvenate in time. The bowlers will be high on confidence if Harshal Patel or Jasprit Bumrah joins the squad back. The batting department needs to get KL Rahul back in form as he is a key cog in India’s success at the ICC T20 World Cup.

Australian Team Preview before Australia Tour of India 2022:

Australia Tour of India 2022

The Australian team has completed a home series against underdogs Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe-based team defeated them in the last game of the series and took the honors away. This happens to be one of the best upsets of all time. As no one expected Zimbabwe to come back with even a single victory. But the performances of David Warner and Pat Cummins were the positives. Mitchell Starc and his recent form have been a concern. They also have to figure out the playing position for Tim David, Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell.

Full Squads for Australia tour of India 2022:

The australian squad is as follows: .

Aaron Finch (C) Pat Cummins (VC),  Ashton Agar, Tim David, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa.

Expected Playing XI:

Aaron Finch (C), David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis/Tim David, Matthew Wade, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Pat Cummins.

The Indian Cricket Team is yet to announce their squad for the series.

Providence venue guide: Go hard in powerplay, expect sharp turn and low bounce

  • Matt Roller Close Matt Roller is an assistant editor at ESPNcricinfo. He tweets at @mroller98 Follow on X

The pitches at Guyana's Providence Stadium, just south of Georgetown, have historically had a strong bias towards spinners, offering sharp turn and low bounce. "It's been like that for a long time, as long as I can remember," Samuel Badree , two-time T20 world champion, told ESPNcricinfo.

Providence is a rare venue in T20 cricket: spinners bowl a slightly higher proportion of overs than seamers, bucking the global trend. In the last two years, spinners have conceded fewer than seven runs per over (6.96) in Guyana, while seamers have conceded 8.51. It should suit India's three spinners - Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja - while Jos Buttler is likely to use both Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone, as well as his banker Adil Rashid.

"They were recently relaid for this T20 World Cup, but generally it has been low-scoring and favours the spinners," Badree said. "The last couple of CPLs have been more productive for the batters, so it has improved. But for this World Cup, the handful of games played down there, they favoured the spinners: low bounce, and some turn."

Guyana is an unlikely "home away from home" for the Australian spinner Chris Green , but few are better placed to assess conditions at Providence. He has played 22 CPL games there, the joint second-most of any player, and has been on the winning side in 16 of those.

Green, like Badree, has noticed a gradual improvement in the pitches. "Over the years, it's actually improved and been a higher-scoring ground in the CPL," he told ESPNcricinfo. "However, I think the day games stand out as being a bit abnormal now - probably more similar to the old-school Guyana wickets, very spin-friendly."

Thursday's match is due to start at 10.30am, though weather forecasts suggest it may be delayed by showers in the morning. The only previous day game at Providence in this World Cup saw West Indies make hard work of chasing 137 against Papua New Guinea on a pitch with variable bounce.

With a north-easterly crosswind blowing across the ground and no dew, the ball is unlikely to come onto the bat as it might under lights. "Definitely, I'd think the day games would be more favourable to the spinners," Badree said. "Kuldeep, Axar and Adil Rashid should all come into the equation."

Green believes that batters should go hard in the powerplay, knowing that it will be the best time to bat. "Sometimes you have to over-attack the powerplay with the bat, with the field up… Naturally, that goes one of two ways, depending on the wicket, the bowling and the luck. But through the middle, it's pretty hard going.

"At the back end, if you have a platform, you can push up to an above-par total and then it's pretty tough to chase down. If you're batting second, it's much the same: try to over-attack, get ahead of the game, force the opposition to chase the game and force errors on a tough wicket. It doesn't really get easier in the daytime as the dew doesn't really come in."

Daren Ganga , the former West Indies captain, suggests that 160 could be a par score. "That pitch is going to have an even covering of root structure," he told ESPNcricinfo. "If anything, it'll have a lowish bounce: in Trinidad, you might get some steep bounce, but in Guyana, it'll be lower."

indian team for australia tour 2022 players list

Australia will lock horns with India in the Super Eights Match 11 of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, 2024. The game is set to take place at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St. Lucia on Monday. Former champions, India comes into this match with momentum, having defeated Bangladesh by 50 runs in their previous outing. Kuldeep Yadav was the standout performer for India, amassing 105 fantasy points. On the other hand, Australia faced a 21-run defeat at the hands of Afghanistan in their last game. Glenn Maxwell was the top fantasy performer for the Aussies, scoring 95 points.

Head-to-Head

Historically, India have dominated the head-to-head battle with Australia in the T20 format. The Men in Blue have won 19 matches while losing 11 games to Australia. The pattern suggests India will likely continue their dominance. The Indian batters have generally outperformed the Aussie bowlers, while the Australian batters have been their main contributors.

The last meeting between these teams was in the fifth T20I of Australia's tour of India, in 2023, where Shreyas Iyer and Ben McDermott scored the highest fantasy points for their respective countries.

International Golf Federation Announces 60 Qualifiers for Women’s Olympic Golf Competition

Field breakdown: 2024 dow championship.

Final women’s Olympic Golf Ranking published as qualification period concludes

LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND  (Tuesday, 25 June 2024) – The two-year qualification period for the women’s golf competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games has concluded with today’s publication of the final women’s Olympic Golf Ranking.

The women’s Olympic Golf Ranking features 60 qualifiers representing 33 different countries. The United States of America (Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu and Rose Zhang) and the Republic of Korea (Jin Young Ko, Amy Yang and Hyo Joo Kim) are the only countries with more than two qualifiers.

The women’s qualification period for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games began on 24 June 2022 and concluded following the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship on 23 June 2024. The top 15 world-ranked players were eligible for the Olympics, with a limit of four players from a given country. Beyond the top 15, players were eligible based on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking, with a maximum of two eligible players from each country that did not already have two or more players among the top 15. The host country – France – was guaranteed at least one spot, as is each of the five continents of the Olympics. Two women qualified to represent Team France at Paris 2024 based on their top-60 finish in the final women’s Olympic Golf Ranking: Celine Boutier (No. 6 in the Olympic Golf Ranking) and Perrine Delacour (No. 30 in the Olympic Golf Ranking).

This summer’s competition marks the fifth time golf has been featured as an Olympic sport and just the third time since 1904. Fifteen women have the opportunity to compete in their third consecutive women’s Olympic golf competition: Aditi Ashok of India, Carlota Ciganda of Spain, Brooke Henderson of Canada, Lydia Ko of New Zealand, Minjee Lee of Australia, Xiyu Lin of China, Gaby Lopez of Mexico, Nanna Koerstz Madsen of Denmark, Leona Maguire of Ireland, Stephanie Meadow of Ireland, Azahara Munoz of Spain, Alena Sharp of Canada, Klara Davidson Spilkova of the Czech Republic, Mariajo Uribe of Colombia and Albane Valenzuela of Switzerland.

With the women’s Olympic Golf Ranking finalised, the International Golf Federation (IGF) will send confirmation of the men’s and women’s quota places to the National Olympic Committees. The NOCs will then confirm use of allocated quota places to the IGF by 27 June and the IGF, in turn, will reallocate all unused quota places before the Paris 2024 Sport Entries Deadline on July 8.

The IGF will publish a finalised field list for both the men’s and women’s golf competitions on Tuesday, 9 July. The women’s Olympic golf competitions will take place 7-10 August at Le Golf National.

Rohit had to 'open up all sides of the field' to counter St Lucia breeze

'His sublime shots remind us of his brilliance,' Manjrekar added (1:14)

Rohit Sharma said he needed "to be smart" and "open up all sides of the field" to counter the strong breeze at the Daren Sammy Stadium in a Super Eight game of the T20 World Cup 2024 against an Australia bowling attack that tried to use that same breeze to make life difficult for him. He was smart enough on the day, hitting a 41-ball 92 with seven fours and eight sixes to lead India to a 24-run win and a spot in the semi-finals as the Group 1 toppers.

"I thought right from over number one, there was a strong breeze blowing across. But they changed their plan, trying to bowl against the breeze," Rohit said on the host broadcast after earning the Player-of-the-Match award. "So I had to open up the other side of the field as well. Need to be smart. Like I said, we need to be smart when we play. And that is something that I was backing myself to do."

Rohit also highlighted the need to "not just be one-dimensional" when being challenged by the conditions.

"You've got to understand [that the] bowlers are smart as well. They're going to not bowl into the breeze a lot," he said. "So you've got to open up all sides of the field, [and] not just be one-dimensional. And that is something that was going through my mind all through. I was thinking to hit the ball everywhere possible. And when you keep an open mind and not think about just playing one shot, you can open [up] and access all sides of the field. And that is something that I was trying to do."

India had lost Virat Kohli for a five-ball duck, and got only six runs in the first two overs, after which Rohit went on the offensive. He hammered Mitchell Starc for four sixes and a four in what turned out to be a 29-run over , with two sixes over the covers, and one each over midwicket and short third, the last top-edged.

"Look, it's been a good wicket. And that is something you want to do as a batter - when you see the wickets are good, you want to try and back yourself to play those kind of shots," he said. "And I've been trying to do that for a few years now. So, yeah, I'm glad that it came off pretty well today."

The last time India had met Australia in a global tournament, it was the final of the ODI World Cup last November. Australia had beaten India by six wickets to lift the trophy on that occasion, but defeat to India in this game has left them hoping for a Bangladesh win , that too by a specific margin, in the last Super Eight game, against Afghanistan.

"It is quite satisfying, especially when you play like that," Rohit said about beating Australia. "We know the opposition and the threat that they bring with them as well. But I thought overall, as a team, we played well. We kept doing the things that we are supposed to do, and what we know the best. And yeah, we can take a lot of confidence from a game like that."

India face England in the semi-final in Guyana on June 27, having lost to them by ten wickets in Adelaide in the semi-final of the previous T20 World Cup in 2022.
