The 11-date tour will see Nova Twins hitting major cities across North America, kicking off with a September 27th show at The Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles and wrapping up with an October 16th gig at Bowery Ballroom in New York City. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday (June 24th) via Ticketmaster , with a Live Nation pre-sale for select cities starting on Thursday (June 23rd) using the code DAZZLE .
Nova Twins are touring in support of their new album, Supernova , which blends nu-metal, hip-hop, and alt-rock into a truly unique sound. The LP just landed on Heavy Consequence’s mid-year list of the Top Metal & Rock Albums of 2022 (So Far).
In our recent interview with the duo, singer-guitarist Amy Love told us, “As a rock band ourselves — an alt band — we weren’t accepted into the industry straight away,” Love tells us in the video interview above. “We’d play shows and it would go off and it was amazing, but in terms of the industry, they would basically say to us that we need to be more hip hop, we need to be more R&B. It was always just, because of the way we looked, a ‘you don’t belong here’ kind of thing.”

Nova Twins announce 2023 Supernova tour dates
Ahead of their Supernova album shows in November, Nova Twins have announced that they’ll be back out on the road again early next year…
As they gear up to bring Supernova to life at their biggest UK shows in November, Nova Twins have already revealed that they’ll be back out on tour again early next year.
The duo – guitarist / vocalist Amy Love and bassist Georgia South – will be bringing Supernova to Belfast, Dublin, Norwich, Bristol, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, Birmingham, Southampton and Brighton in February and March 2023 (tickets go on sale this Wednesday, September 7, at midday).
Before that, though, Nova Twins will find out this week if they’ve won this year’s Mercury Prize . They face up against the likes of Harry Styles, Sam Fender, Little Simz and Wet Leg, with Georgia telling Kerrang! of the nomination and what it means to be the first black rock band up for the prize: “It feels amazing, like a massive win for the community. It feels like we might be opening doors that other people can run through.”
“And it’s a massive win for heavy music!” added Amy. “This sort of genre isn’t always at the forefront [for this kind of award], so to have a heavy act on the list this year is amazing!”

Nova Twins: Heavy music doesn't let everyone in – we're trying to change that
Meet Nova Twins, two best friends who are tearing apart genre barriers with their punk attitude and pedalboards
Falling somewhere between grime, metal, rock and DIY punk, it's easy to see why London-based duo Nova Twins – aka Amy Love and Georgia South – are disinclined to define themselves when it comes to their sound.
The pair's insistence on dodging labels has so far worked to their advantage: their genre-defying, new-age style means they’re making strides not just in one genre, but in three or four. High-profile fans of the band include big names such as Iggy Pop , Annie Mac and Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello , who recently declared them “the best band you’ve never heard of”. High praise indeed from one of rock’s biggest names.
Though the duo’s highly-anticipated debut album, Who Are The Girls , is set to be released later this month, the pair are already hard at work writing their second album. Both in the studio and on the stage, the duo avoid backing tracks, samples and synths – instead they stay true to their manual, DIY approach. This in-depth approach lets them set themselves “a little challenge”, as vocalist and guitarist Amy Love describes it.
Unlike many bands, Love and South’s interests don’t lie in recreating a clean, studio sound at their gigs, rather the opposite. Instead, they’re focused on recreating their raw, live sound in the studio. "We wanted to capture the energy we heard on stage and we feel like we got close with this album," they tell Louder when we catch up ahead of their album release.
Jim Abbiss – mastermind producer behind the big debut albums from Arctic Monkeys, Adele, and Kasabian – was so excited by the prospect of producing such an album that he jumped on board when the opportunity to work with the duo arose. Together, Abbiss, Love and South took time to play around with sounds from their pedalboards, finding glitches within different pedal and instruments to give tracks depth and an innovative, challenging sound.
Before they were ever thinking about their debut album, though, the duo frequented infamous London venues – Camden’s The Stables and the Amersham Arms in New Cross – playing to whoever was listening. Eventually, they started building a following around the live London scene.
The pair assert they couldn’t have started anywhere better: “Although it is quite savage at times, it was probably a great thing,” bassist South tells us. While it might have taken “resilience” to break such a tough scene, it clearly paid off.

From then on they started playing UK festivals, from 2000trees to the Great Escape, Brighton. It was here that they met Jean-Louis, a French promoter known for running Trans Musicales, a festival held once a year in Brittany, France. The festival is famous for showcasing ‘the next big thing’, with previous up-and-comers including Nirvana , Bjork, Daft Punk and Lenny Kravitz . Amy described the festival as nothing she had ever seen before: “It’s these huge massive warehouses in this industrial estate, four thousand capacity for each venue where there is so much world music," she told us.
“Jean-Louis invited us down and we didn’t realise how big it was going to be. When we arrived, there was a curtain behind the stage where you could see [into the crowd], so our first gig out in France ended up being at a 4000 capacity venue.”
From then on, the girls played all around the world, travelling from France, to New York, to Kazakhstan, playing a range of different venues to completely different audiences and supporting everyone from Prophets Of Rage to Little Simz. Fitting, considering their defiant approach to musical categorisation.
The pair are about to set off on their most important and extensive tour yet in support of their debut. But they don’t seem the slightest bit scared, which could be down to their tight bond and lifelong friendship. As South describes it: “We’re always together – it’s like a holiday instead of a tour.”
They also believe their friendship is the foundation of their music and success. “We move together and think the same way together." says South. "I think that’s the formula to our music. It’s got its own little quirks to it because our personalities work so well together, it’s really important.”
The duo’s DIY approach – their music consists of vocals, bass and guitar, as well as a drummer who joins them for live gigs – extends further than just their music. The pair make and direct their own music videos, as well as making their own sets and designing and creating their own clothes. It may seem a lot, but it’s clear how much they enjoy it.
Georgia claims even if they get more people in their team, they’ll always be a part of the behind the scenes process within the band. “It just might not be us always hand sewing each thing,” laughs South.
Looking into the future, the duo seem interested in progressing their music further and trying out new things in their sound. “We are where we are now,” Love says. “I think album four might end up with a synth, who knows.”
Their new label 333 Wreckords Crew, founded by Fever 333's Jason Butler , is something the duo are sincerely excited to be a part of. Instead of a standard label, it’s defined as an ‘artist-orientated collective’. “You don’t always feel backed because everyone is struggling to get to one place or another, so it’s hard for artists to look out for each other,” says Love. “But Jason’s been like, ‘we have to look out for each other’ and we totally agree with that.”
The duo are aware they're outnumbered in the rock industry – not only are they women, but women of colour – and that the odds are stacked against them in such a male-dominated industry. They experienced it first-hand at some of the festivals they played in 2019. During rock and metal festival Download, for example, the girls noticed they were two of seven women on the line up. “We feel like we need to represent all the women and people of colour [at the festival]” says South. “When we walk around, we cannot see our reflection.”
Instead of seeing it as a downside, the girls see it as a challenge. In the next decade, they want to further promote the movement of a diverse audience at rock shows. “We want to change it up and try and make it more open, so more people can be involved in heavy music.
"Because everyone has an influence on the culture – rock and punk – but it doesn’t necessarily let everyone in. So we’re trying to do that.”
Who Are The Girls? is out on February 28 via 333 Wreckords. Nova Twins head out on tour in March, find full tour dates below.

Nova Twins Announce Album and Release New Single (Watch)
Aptly titled Supernova, the album is set for release on June 17th
Genre-bending heavy alt-rock duo Nova Twins (guitarist/vocalist Amy Love and bassist Georgia South) have announced details of their highly anticipated sophomore album. Aptly titled Supernova, the album is set for release through Marshall Records on June 17th.
Supernova is a piece of work that’s fearlessly itself – once again playing with genre and rich in different moods, textures, and layers, all the while retaining that purity and simplicity of the essential elements: South, Love, bass, guitars, drums, and a whole lot of energy. Ultimately, it captures the tension and release that we’ve all been through lately, while imagining what’s to come. Speaking on the album, Amy and Georgia said, “‘Supernova’ is the beginning of a new era. As we delved into the unknown, making this album became our medicine through a turbulent time. It’s a reflection of where we were and how far we have come, encased in a fantasy world that we imagined. ‘Supernova’ is made out of dreams, triumphs and colourful nightmares. When you get to the other side, you will always come out a winner.”
Following in the wake of the tidal wave that was “Antagonist,” Nova Twins (this week’s Kerrang! Magazine cover stars) have released “K.M.B.,” a devious earworm, which takes elements of hip-hop and Destiny’s Child before birthing a D12-style horror fantasy dose of rap-punk. Standing for ‘Kill My Boyfriend’, the band created an incredible tongue in cheek treatment for the accompanying video, which sees another co-directorial effort to stunning effect. “’K.M.B.’ will stitch-up the hearts of the heartbroken, teaching the ones who broke it a lesson”, says Nova Twins of the track. “Inspired by the sound and feel of the 90’s, we wrote and filmed our version of a playful horror movie. Think Mean Girls meets Clueless meets Pulp Fiction. Somewhere between those storylines is where you will find ‘K.M.B.’”

Nova Twins are the zeitgeist-capturing polymath pioneers that our times have been waiting for. Whether pushing the MOBO Awards to create a category for POC alt. acts, to teaming up with No Music On A Dead Planet and Oxfam to play for environmental change, working with Dr. Martens to raise money for The Black Curriculum or aiming to inspire a new wave of young, diverse talent, Amy Love and Georgia South are much more than one of the UK’s most exciting bands – they are changemakers.
Late last year, Nova Twins released their infectious single “Antagonist”, a monstrous track that was met with rapturous response. Named on BBC Radio 1 by Clara Amfo’ as ‘Hottest Record In The World’ and added to the station’s playlist as “Future Artists”, this was the first track that Nova Twins created together after reuniting post-lockdown, and one that South describes as “the sound of both of our energies coming together”. Support continued from BBC Radio 6, Radio X (Exposure Hot One and Big One with John Kennedy) and Kerrang! Radio (Single of the Week and straight to daytime playlist). After gracing the covers of five Spotify playlists, Nova Twins were also announced as Spotify’s EQUAL artists of the month (December 2021) in the UK and Ireland. Further love was shown by Amazon Music, who included the band in their Artists To Watch list for 2022. This all followed a break-out year for the band, which saw a new record deal with Marshall Records, lauded performances at Reading & Leeds Festivals, a feature on Bring Me The Horizon’s track “1×1” (from their UK #1 album Post Human – Survival Horror) and a Best Video Award for “ Taxi ” at the 2021 Heavy Music Awards. They have also graced the covers of NME, Alternative Press and Premier Guitar, with NME calling their 2020 debut LP “a winning testament to the blurring boundaries between hip-hop and heavy rock.”
Battling through the old guard of rock’s narrow-minded expectations, their debut album ‘Who Are The Girls?’ planted their flag as outliers on a mission, when it dropped in 2020 to much critical acclaim. Name another act that could support Bring Me The Horizon and Wolf Alice but also Enter Shikari and Sleaford Mods? One of the UK’s premiere live performers and fiercest festival acts reach a very broad church, without diluting what they’re all about.
There’s no band out there quite like Nova Twins. If more artists blazed a trail like this, we’d be celebrating a lot more difference, rather than craving what’s safe and similar. From being “shunned” when they arrived on the scene, now Nova Twins are leading a game all of their own. Now, there are no rules.
Nova Twins will also head out to the US for their first headline shows, as well as a run of support dates with Grandson. Catch Nova Twins at one of the following shows:

Speaking to NME upon the 2022 shortlist being unveiled , Nova Twins singer/guitarist Amy Love explained: “It’s a bucket list moment, for us. You know when you’re younger, you manifest and you think of things. Getting a Mercury was high up on the list. For us to now be here is a little bit insane.”
Love continued: “Especially for a rock and alt band to be here amongst all of these amazing artists. This is great for the scene.”
