We invite expectant families to visit the  Family Maternity Center  to learn about all that we have to offer to ensure you have the best birth experience possible. You'll learn about where to park, how to register, where you will deliver and recover, what to bring, pain management options during labor, the "golden hour," family centered care, newborn safety, and much more. The tour will last about one hour.

• 1st Monday of every month: 5:30p (OB tour) and 6:45p
• 2nd Monday of every month: 5:30p (OB tour) and 6:45p
• 4th Monday of every month: 6:45p (OB tour)

Directions:

Park on the second floor of the parking garage marked "Family Maternity Center." As you enter from the parking garage, press the intercom button and say you are here for the OB tour. The tour will begin in the second-floor classroom as you round the corner on the left.

The current COVID-19 pandemic has led to many changes with regard to how we deliver healthcare, and has impacted how prenatal education is delivered to expectant parents. For the safety of our patients and their families, Sentara Princess Anne Hospital (SPAH) Family Maternity Center has created a virtual tour of their facilities in order to share important information with you about their facilities, and what to expect during your hospital stay. Eight Sentara hospitals have been named among the nation’s best for providing high-quality labor and delivery services for uncomplicated pregnancies by U.S. News & World Report, a leader in quality rankings.

This designation recognizes Sentara’s commitment and success in providing safe, comprehensive maternity care to expecting families every step of the way. The annual maternity care rankings are designed to assist expecting parents, in consultation with their doctors, in making informed decisions about where to receive care. U.S. News evaluated data from nearly 650 hospitals for this year’s list.

Sentara Martha Jefferson offers a variety of perinatal classes to get you and your partner ready for the birth of your new baby. Our team of childbirth educators and lactation consultants offer many years of experience in their field and are ready to empower and encourage you while you prepare for the birth of your child.

You may have many questions during your pregnancy about your pregnancy, childbirth and how to care for a new baby. Though there are many resources available on the internet, having an opportunity to learn and ask questions from experienced childbirth educators is invaluable.

Are there any restrictions on participation?

– By weight: not more than 90 kg for sport bikes and not more than 110 kg for grand tourists (Goldwing);

– All pilots are prohibited to take passengers in a state of alcoholic or drug intoxication;

– The volume of luggage (handbags, backpacks, etc.) is not more than 15 liters. Larger volume of baggage – must be reported in advance (for the carriage of goods a number of motorcycles are foreseen);

  – It is strictly forbidden to ride without a helmet. (helmet provided);
