What to wear to the Taylor Swift Ireland Eras tour

Excitement is building ahead of Taylor Swift’s imminent arrival in Ireland and the UK as ‘Swifties’ consider what imaginative outfits they will be wearing to her energetic three-hour shows.

The Tortured Poets Department singer will kick start the next leg of The Eras Tour at Edinburgh’s esteemed Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium on Friday, June 7th, followed by Liverpool, Cardiff, London and Dublin.

This tour’s set list consists of more than 40 songs grouped into 11 distinct acts that portray all of pop star’s iconic studio albums conceptually.

The captivating sets encompass everything from her self-titled country album Taylor Swift, which was released in 2006 when she was just 16-years-old, up until her eleventh studio pop album The Tortured Poets Department, released in May this year.

To celebrate the evolution of the 34-year-old songwriter, since the tour commenced in Glendale, Arizona, in March, her loyal fan base have been dressing up as their favourite eras, with creative, sparkly and edgy attire.

Here, we unravel some of these trends to provide concertgoers with some inspiration for their own era outfits.

Red was released in 2012 and was arguably Swift’s breakthrough album as its lead single ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ earned the singer-songwriter her very first number-one hit on the Billboard Pop Singles Chart.

It marked a shift away from country music which was reflected in her vintage looks and pop tunes.

During this iconic era, Swift began experimenting more with her sound and style and was often snapped in vibrant red and stripy clothing.

Fans looking to mirror this classic aesthetic will be drawn to bright red garments, black fedora hats, and of course the global pop star’s signature red lipstick.

The wait is finally over: Taylor Swift’s Reputation World Tour has finally arrived. Swift launched her tour last night, May 8th, in Glendale, Arizona, in a stadium packed with thousands of her fans. And the first night didn’t disappoint. Swift’s Glendale performance was filled with memorable moments — from her long-awaited acknowledgment of her feud with the Kardashian-Wests to a giant snake on stage. Tiffany Haddish even made an appearance , in a surprise cameo during “Look What You Made Me Do.” But just as impressive as the performances themselves were Swift’s many outfits.

As is the case in any stadium tour, Swift’s “Reputation” is big and flashy. According to AZ Central , the nearly 60,000 fans packed into the University of Phoenix stadium were treated to bungee-jumping dancers, a literal tilted stage (a dig at Kanye West), and hovering platforms that helped Swift move from set-piece to set-piece.

Coupled with the elaborate sets and pyrotechnics were several costume changes . We’ve counted at least at least eight outfits, which Swift shed throughout the night like snakeskin, each one more dazzling than the next. Sleek, dark looks were prevalent during the show, although Swift ended the night with a surprising splash of color.

She traded the jacket for a simpler gold and black bodysuit and matching boots.

Taylor Swift’s Orange Eras Tour Look Fueled New Album Theories

Karma is real — maybe.

Taylor Swift always has a trick up her sleeve — or nay, wardrobe . During the European leg of her Eras Tour, the singer continues to mix up the colors of her Roberto Cavalli crop top and short skirt sets for the 1989 act. She even mismatched her custom Christian Louboutin ankle boots à la Carrie Bradshaw .

However, while performing in Lyon, France, on June 2, Swift deviated from her recent pattern by sporting a (gasp!) matching set for the 1989 era. Naturally, some fans think this could be yet another clue pointing to her next album, despite the fact that her newest album, The Tortured Poets Department , is only a month old.

Taylor’s New Monochrome Look

While performing in Lyon, Swift wore her first coordinated 1989 ensemble of the European leg, donning a glittering orange crop top and an ombré orange short skirt. The monochrome vibe continued down to her footwear, with Swift choosing orange Louboutin ankle boots rather than mixing up the colors.

Swift has worn both orange pieces before as part of mismatched looks. She paired the ombré skirt with a yellow crop top on May 12 in Paris to represent boyfriend Travis Kelce’s Chiefs colors , since he was in the audience that night. Then she reversed the colors at her May 29 show in Madrid, Spain, to honor the country’s flag.

However, the all-orange look could strengthen a rapidly growing Swiftie theory.

The Orange Theory

Swifties have long speculated that orange would be the color of Swift’s next album, since she has subtly incorporated orange into the Eras Tour since opening night in March 2023, and the color has not represented any of Swift’s eras before. This turned out to be false for Tortured Poets (its color is predominately white ).

However, when the tour resumed in Europe on May 9, Swift doubled down, debuting a new orange-tinged leotard and blazer for the Lover era and incorporating orange into the 1989 looks.

Swift’s new orange looks are causing fans to speculate (again) that the color will indeed represent her next album , with some fans linking it back to the popular Karma theory . Besides being a Midnights track, Karma is also long suspected to be the name of Swift’s “lost album” that fans think she started recording before she pivoted into what became her 2017 album Reputation.

“Karma” was written in orange graffiti in her music video for “The Man,” which fans have used as proof that she will release her “lost album” at some point, perhaps alongside Reputation (Taylor’s Version) . But whether Swift’s use of orange is an Easter egg for Karma, an entirely different album, or nothing at all, she’s likely already planting clues for her next project.

'Pluie, rain': Taylor Swift sings in a downpour on Eras Tour's first night in Lyon, France

Mark the first night in Lyon, France, as a rain show for the Eras Tour .

"Pluie, rain," Taylor Swift exclaimed to the sold-out show inside Groupama Stadium as she floated onto the stage during the "Speak Now" era. ("Pluie" is French for rain.)

Gray clouds loomed over the open-roofed stadium for the first hour of Swift's first show in the city in Eastern France. The band played underneath tents on both sides of the stage. The VIP and production booths on the ground floor were in tents as well. Some audience members wore colorful ponchos.

What was a slow-start sprinkle during "Enchanted," turned into a full downpour minutes later in the "Reputation" era. Swift and her dancers embraced the rain as she belted, "Baby, let the games begin." The bulk of the water show happened as Swift performed in her red and black bodysuit.

During the combined "Folklore"/"Evermore" set, Swift sat at the moss-covered piano and acknowledged the appearance from Mother Nature.

"We have officially had a rain show tonight and that is set," she said before performing "Champagne Problems." "That is permanent. It doesn't matter if it doesn't rain again."

'Happy Pride Month, Lyon'

During " You Need to Calm Down ," an LGBTQ anthem for some Swifties, the singer made mention of rainbow-laden June.

"Happy Pride Month, Lyon," she said as wristwatches across the stadium lit up in rainbow colors and the audience waved their hands back and forth.

The singer-songwriter has one more show Monday night in Lyon before heading to Edinburgh, Scotland, for three shows this weekend.
