Even if you are not religious, you will still be able to appreciate this tourist destination in Tarlac, as it is part of the 278-hectare Mount Ressurection Eco-Park, which is lush with trees, plants, and other vegetation. It is also home to different species of birds and insects, making it a good stop for nature lovers. The monastery is located around 300 meters above sea level, so while you’re here, you can take in the stunning views while feeling a cool breeze.

If you want to live your Formula 1 or Mario Kart fantasies, Kart City Tarlac in Tarlac City is just the place for you! Kart City Tarlac (KCT) is a go-kart racing track where you can rent go-karts and race with friends. KCT has different kinds of go-karts that you can rent, including those for adult drivers and those for kids, so everyone can join in on the karting fun. In fact, go-kart racing in KCT is one of the popular things to do in Tarlac.

You can start racing at 1:30 PM, but since they are open until late at night, it would be better to hit the track after sundown so you won’t be under the scorching heat of the sun. KCT provides all the gear you need for go-kart racing, but remember to dress appropriately, and if you have long hair, bring your own hair tie.

Also in San Jose is the Tarlac Recreational Park, which is officially named the Jose V. Yap Sports & Recreational Complex. As its name suggests, there are plenty of things you can do at the park, including swimming (you can even enjoy night swimming here) in the Olympic-size pool, fishing, kayaking, and ATV riding. The park also has plenty of sports facilities, including basketball courts, volleyball courts, a football pitch, a golf course, a running track oval, and even a race track.

Because of its open spaces and wide range of facilities, it has become a popular location for team-building activities.

However, if you want to just chill and relax, you can also have picnics here, or you can rent a casita, a cottage, or even a VIP Pavilion for a more comfortable stay.

Located at Barangay Maasin in San Clemente, Canding Falls is considered one of the top places to go to in Tarlac, especially during the summer. It’s easy to reach this eco-tourism spot, as the falls is just around 1 kilometer from the jump-off point. The multi-tiered falls is known for its cold waters that are perfect for a refreshing dip.

Apart from swimming, visitors can enjoy cliff jumping from different jumping points, with the highest being 20 feet up. Just note that some parts of the natural pool can be really deep, so make sure you know how to swim!

Despite the name, this tourist destination in San Jose is actually located along a river and not by the sea. Nevertheless, like many beaches, it’s a great spot to cool off and relax. You can swim in the shallow waters of the river, just chill in one of the cottages along the river banks, or float aboard a bamboo raft while taking in the beautiful views of the river and the distant mountains.

Just note that while there may be some vendors here selling refreshments, the area is pretty bare, so make sure you bring your own essentials like towels, food, and drinks and ensure that you leave no trace when you leave.

The Asean New Zealand Afforestation Project or ANZAP Twin Falls in Mayontoc is one of the beautiful places in Tarlac that you should definitely add to your itinerary. As its name suggests, two cascades will greet you when you reach the site, with one flowing from the Matibya River and the other from the Piccan River. While the cascades are narrow, their height is impressive, with water flowing from a height of 200 feet.

This ancestral house in Concepcion, Tarlac, is recognized by the National Historical Commission as a historical site, and in 2011, President Noynoy Aquino unveiled the National Historical Institute Marker.

The house served as the home of three generations of Aquinos, including the late president and his father, Ninoy Aquino. From the outside, the mansion looks grand as it sits on its expansive grounds with a man-made pond accentuating the gardens. Inside, you’ll find antique furniture, artwork, and lots and lots of framed photos of the Aquinos. Just note that you may need to schedule your visit in advance as the caretakers do not accept visitors every day.

This goat farm in Gerona, Tarlac, actually started as a hobby of the owners, starting with only 10 goats in 2001. Now, it is a booming business with hundreds of goats of different breeds. They also breed sheep on the farm. Apart from selling goats and sheep, the farm also produces goat’s milk and specialty cheeses. You can buy these products on the farm itself.

During your visit, you can explore the farm aboard a tractor and experience organic farming firsthand. Tarlac is one of the lesser talked-about provinces in the county. In case you’re wondering what are the places to see and things to do here, we’re here to guide you!

Tarlac derived its name from a Hispanized derivation of the Pangasinan word “malatarlak,” which pertains to the talahib weed. Today, the province celebrates the Malatarlak Festival every year in honor of its roots and the Aetas, an indigenous group who first built civilization in these lands.

This province is mostly known for its historical sites, rice and sugar plantations, and various nature attractions such as mountains. It is a landlocked province, which means it has no beaches — but it has river banks and waterfalls where you can cool off during the summer. Tarlac is also dubbed as the Melting Pot of Central Luzon since it is home to different ethno-linguistic groups including the Tagalog, Kapampangan, Ilocano, and Pangasinense. As such, you can expect to find different regional cuisines here!

Mount Pinatubo is one of the most popular nature hikes in the Philippines. This active volcano laid dormant for 600 years until its violent eruption in 1991. It produced million tons of gas cloud into the stratosphere, which even temporarily lowered the global temperature by 1°F.

This active stratovolcano is located on the tripoint boundary of Zambales, Tarlac, and Pampanga. Via Tarlac, the jump-off point to Mount Pinatubo can be found at Barangay Sta. Juliana in Capas. From here, you need to ride a 4×4 vehicle, passing by barren landscapes and Aeta communities along the way. Then you need to trek the rest of the way to the crater lake of Mount Pinatubo.

Monasterio de Tarlac is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Tarlac. It is not only frequented by residents who attend the mass but also by tourists who are interested in its surrounding view.

Built in 2001, this monastery stands atop the Mount Resurrection Eco Park, which is part of the Zambales mountain range. Here you can appreciate the surrounding plains and mountains and take photos in the 30-feet statue of Jesus Christ, which is similar to the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Brazil.

Aside from these, Monasterio de Tarlac also holds a relic of the True Cross , which is purportedly the wooden cross on which Jesus Crist was crucified. Brought from Germany to the Philippines, the relic is now enshrined in the monastery chapel where it is touched by the faithful after every mass. Twice a year, the relic is taken out for open veneration to commemorate its enshrinement and to celebrate the anniversary of the Servants of the Risen Christ Monastic Community.

The 78-hectare Tarlac Recreational Park is ideal for those who love adventure and families who want to bond together through fun outdoor activities.

You can rent out pavilions and cottages for day trips, as well as facilities such as BBQ grill. This park has different sports facilities you can use including an Olympic-sized swimming pool, two swimming pools for kids, a race track, an oval, and a football field. If you want to head out there, there are also dune buggies and ATVs available for off-road adventures, a lagoon for fishing and kayaking, a biking trail, an airsoft ground, and other activities such as zipline.

The Tarlac Recreational Park isn’t just for day activities. You can stay overnight by renting one of the camping tents and enjoy the outdoor sky at night.

Kart City Tarlac (KCT) is one of the most popular Tarlac tourist spots. It’s ideal for thrill-seekers and those who are looking for entertainment in the city.

This amusement park features a wide 700-meter racing cart track. Whether it’s your first time to try go-kart racing or you’re an experienced driver who want to compete in the racing activities, this site is for you.

Aside from the go-kart track, the park also has a billiards room, KTV room, and a restaurant that serves delicious food.

If you’re interested in WW2 History, then you should visit Capas National Shrine in Tarlac. This is part of the WW2 loop tour done in Pampanga, Bataan, and Tarlac, offered by selected tour agencies.

Capas National Shrine is a 54-hectare memorial park built in honor of the Filipino and American soldiers who died at Camp O’Donell towards the end of the Death March. Here you can find a 70-meter-tall obelisk, built to signify peace and unity among Filipinos, Americans, and Japanese, and three marble walls engraved with the names of the fallen soldiers.

You can also visit a museum and a small monument built by the Battling Bastards of Bataan.

This is one of the lesser-known tourist attractions in Tarlac, but someplace that history lovers will want to visit.

The Bamban Museum of History is a small private museum owned by Rhonie dela Cruz, whose grandfather and uncles fought in the Battle at Bamban Hills during the WW2. It houses old and new photographs, including the local war veterans and the indigenous people who fought with their fellow Filipinos, as well as various artifacts including artillery, helmets, and uniforms.

Aside from it being a resource for history, the owner also shares personal stories about the war and his conversations with both Filipino and Japanese war veterans and their surviving relatives.

Tarlac has several waterfalls, perhaps the most famous of which is the Anzap Twin Falls. The Anzap Twin Falls is composed of two streams coming from the Matibya and Piccan Rivers, both measuring about 200 feet high.

Here you can appreciate the beauty of the waterfalls, which is one of the few twin falls in the country. You can also see interesting local flora and fauna, as well as forest trails.

The twin falls is tucked behind the ANZAP (ASEAN-New Zealand Afforestation Program) in Mayantoc, Tarlac. Getting here is challenging, as the roads are not yet developed. From Mayantok, it will take you about 5 hours of trekking. Alternatively, if you’re coming from San Jose, you can drive across rough roads and then trek for 30 min to 1 hour to reach the waterfall.

The Aquino Center Museum is ideal for people who love history. It was built as a tribute to the late senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and his wife the late president Corazon Aquino, who fought hard to restore the democracy in the country after a 20-year dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos.

The museum houses artwork, memorabilia, and photographs of the Aquino Family. Most notably, it also houses the jacket that Benigno Aquino Jr. wore when he was assassinated, still stained in blood.

The Aquino Center Museum is located at Hacienda Luisita in San Miguel, Tarlac. It is managed by the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation.

If you’re looking for a nature attraction that is easily accessible, try visiting Canding Falls in San Clemente, Tarlac. It is a multi-tiered waterfall, with the main pool for swimming as deep as 20 feet. There are cottages and tables for rent nearby, so you can stay for a while, enjoy the cool water in the basins, and even cliff jump in certain spots.

From the jump-off point in San Clemente, it only takes around 20 minutes of trekking to reach Canding Falls. Its easy access makes it a popular local destination especially during hot days.

Ubod Falls is said to be one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Tarlac. Located within the wilderness in San Clemente, it stands about 160 feet high with a basin good for swimming and a cliff that is a potentially good site for rappelling.

It’s recommended to visit here only if you are physically fit, as the route is challenging. First, you need to trek following a river upstream and then climb up the rope segments of Si-el Falls, one of the two small waterfalls in the area. From there, trek for another 15 minutes to get to Ubod Falls.

Mount Damas is a popular hiking destination in Tarlac due to its scenic views. Its peak is situated 685 meters above sea level, offering panoramic 360-degree views of the plains and mountain ranges of Tarlac and Pangasinan .

It’s located within the borders of the towns of Mayantoc, Camiling, and San Clemente. The jump-off point is located at Dueg Settlement in San Clemente (or alternatively at Barangay Papaac in Camiling), and the trek from the jump-off point to the summit takes about 7 hours. Some mountaineers do this as a day climb, while some opt for an overnight hike to witness the sunrise and sea of clouds (similar to Mount Pulag ) and to do a side trip to Ubod Falls.

Although the mountain is relatively small, the activity is still considered a major hike due to difficult trails. You need to trek, do river crossings, rock rappelling, and 45- to 60-degree ascent and descent via bamboo ridges. The trail is even more challenging when it is wet and muddy.

Mount Telakawa is another favorite hiking destination in Tarlac. It is located at the foot of Mount Pinatubo with a summit elevation of 645 meters above sea level, which offers breathtaking views of the volcanic mountain, lahar fields, and woodlands.

The mountain derived its word from “telakawa,” which means a pot placed upside down due to its shape. Its trail is mostly similar to that going to Mount Pinatubo, except that it is preferred by those who are up to a more challenging hike.

To get here, you need to pass through a river and the lahar fields in Crow Valley, with the option to meet with the Aeta community in Sitio Daig. Then you need to follow a gradually ascending trek amidst tall grasses to reach the summit. Most hikers camp at the summit for an overnight hike, so they can witness an amazing sunrise.

Want to see and interact with farm animals? JSJ Goat Farm is a family-owned business located in a sprawling 10-hectare property in Barangay Caruray in Gerona, Tarlac. This farm is home to various pure-bred goats that originated from the United States and Australia, which produce top-quality fresh milk and milk products such as cheese.

Here you can go on a day tour to see the goats and sheeps, understand the farming process, and see how milking is done. You can also buy some of their products, including milk bottles, feta cheese, and kesong puti.

Bulsa River white water rafting is the perfect activity for those who love to experience awesome adventures. Here you can experience kayaking along the 12.5-kilometer length of Bulsa River, starting from the mountain village of Maamot and then to the greeneries and towns in San Jose before proceeding to more intense parts of the river.

The activity lasts about 3-4 hours. The river rapids are classified as Class II, meaning they are smooth and gentle to moderately quick, so they are perfect for beginner kayakers. Here you can kayak while appreciating the surrounding mountains and even wildlife (including swimming carabaos) and then stop over to swim, cliff jump, and stone jump.

Saipan Beach is a picturesque river bank found in San Jose, Tarlac. You can do a short stop-over here after visiting Monasterio de Tarlac, which is just 15 minutes away.

Here you can bathe and cool off in the water or rest in one of the cottages. Some vendors also sell halo-halo and other snacks as refreshment.

1. ANZAP Twin Falls

ANZAP (ASEAN-New Zealand Afforestation Program) Twin Falls cascades towards a beautiful catch basin for more than 200 feet. Trekking to the falls will lead you into the lush forests of Tarlac, home to endangered flora and fauna species.

It’s a perfect getaway for those wanting to escape the lowland heat. ANZAP Twin Falls is a hidden Tarlac tourist spot.

2. Mount Damas

Mount Damas rises to more than 685 meters above sea level. It’s one of the favorite climbing destinations in Tarlac.

11. Duglo Falls

18. Aquino Center and Museum

Aquino Center and Museum are one of the most famous tourist spots in Tarlac City. It commemorates Benigno Aquino Sr. and his wife late President Corazon Aquino. Both are considered icons of democracy in the Philippines.

One of the materials here is the blood-stained clothes of Benigno, who was assassinated during the Marcos regime.

Although it is not a usual place where tourists go, there are many cool Tarlac tourist spots that you should consider visiting when going to the Philippines . Tarlac is one of the 81 provinces of the Philippines and is located in Central Luzon , just 130 kilometers away from Manila.

Tarlac is bounded by Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Zambales and Pampanga. It’s close to the beach and mountains and a very quiet place if you want to relax. In this Tarlac travel guide we would share with you some of their churches, historical spots, natural attractions, restaurants and many more.

Best time to visit tarlac.

Since the Philippines is made up of many different islands, weather conditions may vary from one city to another. If you’re traveling to Tarlac, you can expect considerably small variations to the city’s weather.

Humidity is high in the Philippines and the warmest months here are April and May. You can hit the beaches near Tarlac city during these months to cool off. Basically, January to March is the best time to visit Tarlac as this is the sunniest period of the year and is relatively cooler than other months.

HOW TO GET FROM MANILA TO TARLAC

Getting tarlac by bus from manila.

If you are getting by bus from Manila to Tarlac. There are buses leaving from Manila to Tarlac in Pasay and Cubao. The trip will take 3-5 hours depending on the traffic.

Prices are starting at $5 USD and you can book online . The bus departure is every 30-45 minutes and there are buses with air conditioning and without. If you are coming from Manila by bus to Tarlac. The bus will stop by Angeles City: Dau or Marquee Mall .

The main buses companies going from Manila to Tarlac are Victory Liner and Five Stars getting to La Siesta Bus Terminal in Tarlac.

Once you arrive at La Siesta Bus Terminal you can go walking distance to city center just 10 minutes and less than 5 minutes walking distance to SM Tarlac.

GETTING TARLAC BY PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION

If you are getting from Manila to Tarlac by private transportation van or car. It will take you around 3 hours getting to Tarlac depending on the traffic leaving Manila.

GETTING TARLAC FROM CLARK/ANGELES

There are flight companies going to Clark like Cebu Pacific and Air Asia . You can get cheap flights from Singapore and Hong Kong. Also inside the Philippines there are cheap flights going to Coron and Cebu from Clark International Airport.

If you are coming from Clark International Airport. You will have to get Grab or a taxi going to DAU Bus Terminal. Once in DAU you will get the bus coming from Manila going to Tarlac.

It will 70 PHP and it will take an hour to get to Tarlac passing by San Miguel and ending in La Siesta Bus Terminal close to SM Tarlac. You can also get a bus from Marquee Mall going to Tarlac. It will cost 80 PHP .

DAILY BUDGET TO VISIT TARLAC

Those visiting Tarlac are in for a treat. Many of the food and hotels in the city are inexpensive but more than satisfying. A full meal in the city can go for as low as 80 PHP per person while a bottle of beer can be bought for around 50-65 PHP .

Restaurant food can be bought for around 500-800 PHP for two people. Pretty cheap, right? And if you only have 20 PHP in your pocket and you’re feeling pretty hungry, you can even buy plenty of street food with your cash.

Transportation is also pretty cheap with jeepneys going all over town at a flat rate of 9 PHP . If you want towrite a tricycle for two kilometers distance expect to pay around 50 PHP .

Those who are looking for budget hotels in Tarlac and can find one on a promo for around 900-1200 PHP . For those who want a more luxurious stay, you can check in at very nice hotels at around $50-120 USD . You can also try AirBnB in Tarlac.

Since the Philippines is a Catholic country, churches can be found everywhere. Some are old and some are new, but each one is special and different from each other. Here are some of the churches in Tarlac that are known to be Tarlac Tourist Spots too.

1. SACRED RELIC OF THE TRUE CROSS (MONASTERIO DE TARLAC)

This sacred relic can be found in Monasterio de Tarlac, a monastery located on top of Mt. Resurrection in San Jose, Tarlac. This is one of the top Tarlac tourist spots for those who want some peaceful time to pray.

2. SAN SEBASTIAN CATHEDRAL

San Sebastian Cathedral is located in the city center, specifically in Brgy. Mabini, Tarlac. It’s also known as the Tarlac Cathedral and was opened after World War 2.

3. SANTA FAUSTINA OF THE DIVINE MERCY PARISH

Another church in Tarlac that you must visit is the Santa Faustina of the Divine Mercy Parish. It’s located at Paniqui-Anao Rd, Paniqui, Tarlac. Many people visit this church during Holy Week.

4. ST. JOSEMARIA ESCRIVA PARISH

This is also known as the Parokya ni San Josemaria Escriva or the Diocesan Shrine of St. Josemaria Escriva. It’s the first church in the Philippines dedicated to St. Josemaria Escriva. It’s located in Gerona, Tarlac.

5. LA SAGRADA FAMILIA PARISH

It is also located in Gerona, specifically in Federosa Memorial Park. During the Papal Visit in 2015, Pope Francis used the altar table of this church, making it popular to Catholics.

This floating water park and restaurant in Gerona is definitely one of the most popular Tarlac tourist spots you shouldn’t miss. It’s a popular place to go to when you get hungry on the road.

There are also many spots here where you can take photos and post on your social media such as the floating nipa huts, large statues of animals, birds, insects, superheroes, and famous personalities.

7. TARLAC PLAZUELA

Tarlac Plazuela is located in the city center, close to San Sebastian Cathedral. You will find people enjoying the day especially at sunset. There are street food stalls outside the park if you want to try a snack.

8. MARIA CRISTINA PARK

Maria Cristina Park is located in front of Museo de Tarlac and The Capitol. When the sun goes down, it is a great place to walk around or just relax, playing with the kids.

9. TARLAC RECREATION PARK

Located in San Jose, Tarlac, Tarlac Recreation Park or also known as Jose V. Yap Sports and Recreational Complex, offers a wide range of activities for their customers. You can set up tents here for an overnight stay and go camping and fishing. Make sure to bring your own fishing gear.

10. capas national shrine.

This is a memorial shrine built in 1991 to commemorate the Allied soldiers who died at Camp O’Donnell at the end of the Bataan Death March during the Second World War. It’s located in Brgy. Aranguren, Capas, Tarlac.

11. THE AQUINO CENTER MUSEUM

This is one of Tarlac tourist spots you should visit to know more about the history of the Philippines, especially during the 1970s and the late president Cory Aquino and her late senator husband Ninoy Aquino’s contribution to the country. It’s open from 8AM to 5PM daily and located at Hacienda Luisita, Tarlac.

12. BAMBAN MUSEUM OF HISTORY

This historical museum located in Bamban, Tarlac exhibits different photographs, personal belongings, documents, and other memorabilia of the fallen soldiers who fought the war from 1941 to 1945.

13. NINOY AQUINO MONUMENT

This is a monument honoring the late Senator Ninoy Aquino located in Tarlac City.

14. CORY MONUMENT

Just like her husband’s, this is a monument that honors the late President Cory Aquino located in Tarlac City.

15. TARLAC PROVINCIAL CAPITOL

The Tarlac Provincial Capitol that was built in 1909 is also one of Tarlac tourist spots that’s considered historical because it has seen a lot of wars and history throughout the years. It’s located on a hill Brgy. San Vicente, Tarlac.

16. MUSEO DE TARLAC

Also known as Museo ng Tarlac, this museum exhibits the arts, talent, and crafts of local artists. Currently, it also serves as the office of Tarlac Provincial Tourism. It’s located along Romulo Blvd, Tarlac City.

17. CAPAS DEATH MARCH MONUMENT

It’s also one of the historical Tarlac tourist spots that honors and commemorates the fallen soldiers of the Death March.

KCT Tarlac City is a perfect place to have fun with your friends, especially if you love Karts and/or you’re bringing kids with you. It’s located in front of SM City Tarlac. You can enjoy the karts 5 minutes for 250 PHP and it will be so much fun.

If you are visiting with kids there is a small playground. And there are also options for food in the restaurant. Prices are affordable as well.

19. VES FOOD RESORTS & VILLAS

Located in MacArthur Highway, Capas, Tarlac, VES Food Resorts boasts a wide variety of Filipino dishes, as well as exotic ones like Nilasing na Hipon, Kalderetang Ostrich (stewed ostrich), and Kangaroo Steak. It’s located at 588 Jimenez St., Sto. Domingo II, Capas, Tarlac.

WATERFALLS IN TARLAC

20. ubod falls.

Ubod Falls can be found in Mt. Damas in Camiling, Tarlac. Before you can get to Ubod Falls, you must hike Mt. Damas, which is kind of not for beginners because of its hike difficulty of 6 over 9.

21. CANDING FALLS

This beautiful paradise is definitely one of the must-visit Tarlac tourist spots. It’s located in Brgy. Maasin, San Clemente, Tarlac. It’s easy to get here. According to those who have already visited this place, you have to pay the entrance fee of 10 PHP first in Brgy. Maasin, and trek for 20 minutes to reach the beautiful waterfalls.

MOUNTAINS IN TARLAC

22. mt. pinatubo.

Mt. Pinatubo is mainly located in Pampanga, but can be viewed in Tarlac, too. It’s the most popular hiking place in the area. Trekking this mountain can be done in a day, which involves riding a 4×4 on a lahar field, and 3-hour trekking back and forth. Below are some of the price packages if you are coming from Manila:

23. MT. DAMAS

Like we said earlier, this is located in Camiling Tarlac, and not really an easy hike for beginners. You can reach its summit in 4-5 hours of hike, so make sure to allocate 1 to 2 days if you would like to hike this mountain. You can find the beautiful Ubod Falls here, so it’s worth it!

24. MT. TELAKAWA

Another mountain in Tarlac you can hike is the Mt. Telakawa. It stands at 630 meters above the sea level and one of the best choices for hikers who are looking for an extreme hiking experience in Tarlac.

RIVERS IN TARLAC

25. nambalan river.

One of the famous Tarlac tourist spots especially during the hot summer days is the Nambalan River. You can find it in Mayantoc, Tarlac, also known as the Summer Capital of Tarlac . Just pay PHP 10 for the entrance fee, and you can already enjoy swimming and even rafting in the river. Don’t forget to bring your own food and drinks, too!

26. BULSA RIVER

Situated in San Jose, Tarlac, Bulsa River is one of Tarlac tourist spots for those who want to experience adventure, too. This river has wild waters, with smooth and moderately quick rapids. You can do kayaking here. It’s really fun!

27. SAIPAN BEACH

Although it is called a beach, Saipan Beach is actually a river. It’s a good place where you can have snacks like Halo-Halo and rent a cottage just beside the river and enjoy the cool breeze. You can stop by at Saipan Beach after visiting the Monasterio de Tarlac, which is also located in San Jose, Tarlac.

28. ylang-ylang center.

Ylang-Ylang Center is actually a museum in Anao, Tarlac. It’s open everyday and it features a lot of Ylang-Ylang products which include perfumes, insect repellants, soaps, and other products derived from the aromatic oil of this flower.

29. JSJ GOAT FARM

This goat farm in Brgy. Caturay, Gerona, Tarlac, is a 10-hectare farm with goats and sheep. They breed goats and produce meat, milk, and cheese from their animals. It’s open to the public for touring the farm and tasting their food products.

30. f. tanedo street.

After visiting San Sebastian Cathedral and Tarlac Plazuela, you can keep walking down F. Tanedo Street. It’s full of shops and places to eat on the way to the local market. It’s one of Tarlac tourist spots you should visit to enjoy the local vibes.

If you love visiting local markets, you will love Tarlac local market since it’s big and easy to walk around. We have to say that we loved it more than the one in Angeles City, ha!

The Israeli military says it will undertake a daily 11-hour “tactical pause” in fighting along a route in southern Gaza to allow in more humanitarian aid but reiterated its offensive in Rafah will carry on.

The pause began Saturday and will occur every day from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. along a roughly 7.5-mile route in Rafah to allow trucks to travel through the Kerem Shalom Crossing, the main entry point for aid to southern Gaza, where hundreds of thousands of refugees remain, the Israel Defense Force said.

The 11-hour pauses are significantly longer than the previous ones implemented by the IDF during the war and done to reduce the need for coordinating aid deliveries.

The Israeli military has also secured a route from the crossing to Al Bayuk and the European Hospital in Khan Younis, which will be opened during the pause and restricted to aid trucks only.

The Kerem Shalom Crossing has suffered a bottleneck since Israel’s offensive in Rafah began in early May, with Hamas and the IDF clashing repeatedly along the route.

“This is an additional step in the humanitarian aid efforts that have been conducted by the IDF and COGAT (Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories) since the beginning of the war,” the IDF said in a statement.

The IDF said the “tactical pause,” which begins as Muslims start marking their major Eid Al-Adha holiday, came after discussions with the United Nations and international aid agencies.

But shortly after announcing the pause, the IDF made it clear that the initiative would not undermine its ongoing battle against Hamas in Rafah, southern Gaza’s most populous city where the terror group’s remaining strongholds are believed to be located.

“The fighting in Rafah continues,” the Israeli military said.

The clarification came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the decision, with the Jewish leader allegedly butting heads with his military chiefs at a war cabinet meeting Sunday, according to local Channel 13.

“We have a country with an army, not an army with a country,” Netanyahu reportedly said during the meeting. “In order to achieve the elimination of Hamas, I have made decisions that aren’t always accepted by the military echelon.”

Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir stood by Netanyahu’s comments and said that whoever came up with the idea for a pause is a “fool who should not continue to be in his position.”

The fighting in Rafah remains intense, with eight Israeli soldiers killed by an explosion Saturday in one of the deadliest single attacks on the IDF since Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

In a world often cluttered with gloomy news, a delightful video of two Japanese schoolchildren interacting with an Australian tourist has captured the internet's heart. The video, shared on Instagram by Coleman Greiger, showcases a charming moment of cultural exchange and politeness.

In the video, the two boys approach Greiger with endearing confidence and greet him in English. They explain that they are conducting a survey to help them learn English and politely ask if they can ask him a few questions. Their politeness and earnestness immediately won over viewers.

The children proceed to ask Greiger three questions: "What is your name?", "Where are you from?", and "What is your favourite Japanese food?" They even hand him a picture card to help him identify the food item. After Greiger responds, the boys thank him warmly and request his signature on their survey sheet. In the end, they also gift him adorable origami creations as a memento.

The international collaboration between Arizona State University and Hainan University (HNU) in southern China has some milestones to celebrate this year.

The Hainan University–Arizona State University International Tourism College (HAITC) received a prestigious award from the Chinese Ministry of Education as it honored its first cohort of master’s degree recipients in late May. In June, ASU and HNU also agreed to renew their joint administration of HAITC for a new five-year term.

HAITC, which offers degrees in tourism management and parks, recreation and sport management, as well as in public service and public policy, was named among only 20 international joint programs by the Chinese Ministry of Education on its inaugural list of Excellent Cases of Chinese-Foreign Cooperatively-Run Schools.

Kelly Bricker , HAITC director and professor in the School of Community Resources and Development in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions , said the Excellent Cases award is a huge honor for HAITC and ASU. “The word is getting out. It’s the excellence of our program content, supported by a high-quality faculty and staff,” she said.

This year marks the first time the Excellent Cases designation was issued, the ministry said in a statement, “marking a milestone and providing a powerful reference for society to understand Chinese-foreign cooperative education comprehensively and objectively. This groundbreaking evaluation initiative will promote the development of Chinese-foreign cooperative education to a higher and deeper level, injecting new vitality into China's high-level education and opening up to the outside world.”

Bricker said HAITC, established in 2017, is the newest program among the 20 to be recognized. She said the award is an affirmation from the Ministry of Education that HAITC is a high-quality program.

HNU officials were in Tempe on June 13 to join ASU Executive Vice President Chris Howard, chief operating officer of the university’s Academic Enterprise, in signing an agreement pledging to extend the two universities’ relationship for a new five-year term.

The agreement also calls for both institutions to support future academic programs and research development and renew both parties’ commitment to excellence in instruction and program design, said Bricker, who also is a Watts College associate dean.

The universities also agreed to begin developing a program originating in ASU’s Thunderbird School of Global Management. New students would start enrolling in the program in fall 2025.

New master’s degree alumni

Bricker said HAITC students earned master’s degrees for the first time this spring.

The college honored 12 new master’s degree alumni at a May 24 ceremony in China that also celebrated students earning bachelor’s degrees, where Bricker and Watts College Dean and President’s Professor Cynthia Lietz were in attendance. Seven students are receiving Master of Public Administration degrees from ASU this year, while five are receiving Master of Science degrees in tourism management.

HAITC’s spring 2024 cohort of 262 bachelor’s degree recipients is larger than the spring 2023 cohort of 255, according to ASU statistics. Bricker said HAITC’s bachelor’s and master’s degrees will be officially conferred later in June.

This fall, HAITC expects to welcome 30 new master’s degree students, and more than 70% of HAITC’s bachelor’s degree recipients have applied to graduate school, Bricker said. “A very high percentage of them got in.”

“It’s really a true testament to the quality of education our faculty is giving to our students. I’d be remiss if I didn’t recognize the amazing faculty and staff. Without them, none of it would be possible,” Bricker said. “It’s a testament to their dedication to excellence and high quality.”

Credit is also due to the quality of collaboration between the two institutions, Bricker added.

“We have such a dedicated faculty and staff at ASU and HNU, who collaborate to make this work,” she said. “Patience, concern, kindness, inspiration and knowledge peppered with a willingness to be innovative and create something very special with our students is what makes this work. It takes a village, actually two very large villages, dedicated to excellence, to make this happen. We are very fortunate to be a part of this uniquely situated program and partnership.”

Lietz agreed, saying, "It was an absolute pleasure to be able to recognize the graduates of our HAITC program in person this year. I was so impressed by their poster presentations, and celebrating with them on stage was truly an honor. I am grateful for this impactful partnership and cannot wait to return next year to recognize our next group of graduates.”

Body of American tourist found on scenic Greek island, latest in a string of missing or dead foreigners

An American tourist was found dead Sunday on a beach on the Greek Island of Mathraki, the latest in a series of foreign tourists found dead or reported missing in the scenic vacation paradise in the past week, authorities said.

The remains of the missing American were discovered at about 1:30 p.m. local time on a beach near the old port of Mathraki Island, the president of the community of Mathraki Island told ABC News.

The cause of death was not immediately disclosed.

The man was last seen Tuesday at a tavern in Mathraki, west of Corfu Island, where he was staying with a Greek American friend, investigators told ABC News.

The friend called the police after he returned home Thursday and found the door of the house open, the lights on, and the air conditioning unit running, but there was no sign of the missing American or his identification and travel documents, according to investigators.

Mathraki has no police station or coast guard. Law enforcement officers from Corfu were called in to assist with the investigation.

A coroner was headed to the island Sunday to conduct a preliminary investigation, the president of Mathraki Island said. The body is expected to be taken to nearby Corfu Island, where an autopsy will be performed, officials said.

It's the second time in a week that an American tourist has been reported missing on the Greek Isles.

A search continued Sunday for a retired Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy who has been missing since Tuesday on the Greek Island of Amorgos, officials said. The retired deputy, identified by Greek authorities as 59-year-old Albert Calibet of Hermosa Beach, California, was reported missing when he failed to return from a hike, officials said.

Drone video obtained by ABC Los Angeles station KABC showed rescue crews searching the rocky terrain where they believed Calibet was hiking.

"We're sick to our stomachs, knowing he's out there somewhere," Calibet's girlfriend, Debbie Leshane, told KABC.

Leshane said Calibet called her just before leaving to go on a hike. She said they spoke for about six minutes and that Calibet later sent her a photo about 9:20 a.m. local time Tuesday from the trailhead sign. She said that was the last she heard from him.

Juneteenth Independence Day: What will be open and closed in and around Springfield

Juneteenth Independence Day is a federal holiday and will be observed by most government agencies and schools on Wednesday.

Unlike some federal holidays, like Memorial Day and Labor Day, that are observed on a specific day of the week, Juneteenth is celebrated on the actual day, June 19.

It commemorates the day the news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached enslaved people via federal troops in Galveston Bay, Texas, in 1865. Texas was the western-most Confederate state.

Although President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1862 and it took effect on Jan. 1, 1863, slavery in America wasn't formally abolished until the 13th Amendment was ratified Dec. 6, 1865.

Juneteenth is a blending of the words "June" and "nineteenth." The holiday has also been called Freedom Day, second Independence Day and Emancipation Day.

Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021 when President Joe Biden signed legislation after the U.S. Congress passed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act.

Because it is a federal holiday, there is no U.S. Mail delivery, and banks will be closed Monday.

Here is a list of what is open and what is closed in and around Springfield for Juneteenth:

Government offices and courts

Federal, state of Illinois and Sangamon County offices and courts, along with City of Springfield offices are all closed for Juneteenth.

The administrative offices of Oak Ridge Cemetery and Lincoln Library are closed.

Springfield School District 186 offices will be closed for Juneteenth.

The University of Illinois Springfield campus is closed Wednesday.

The campuses of Lincoln Land Community College and Midwest Technical Institute will be open for Juneteenth.

LLCC host a 1.25-mile Juneteenth Freedom Walk at 8:30 a.m. on June 19. It begins at the A. Lincoln Commons.

Additionally, the LLCC Library will offer viewings of “The Tex Factor: The Journey of Opal Lee” at 9:30, 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on June 19. Lee is considered "the grandmother of Juneteenth."

Transportation

Sangamon Mass Transit District buses will run regular routes on Juneteenth.

Tourist sites

Tourist sites, including the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum , the Lincoln Home National Historic Site and Lincoln's Tomb, all will be open for Juneteenth.

The museum will be displaying its copy of the Emancipation Proclamation in the Library Building, 112 N. Sixth St., on June 15, and on weekdays from June 17 through July 3. The library is open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There is no admission cost.

“The Nature of Freedom: A Literary Commemoration of Juneteenth" debuts at the ALPLM in the Museum at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on June19 and at 11 a.m. on June 15.

There is no admission charge to the museum on Juneteenth.
