These cruise line ‘special offers’ usually linger year-round.   As of January 2024,  here’s what they are offering.

Virgin – The new cruise line for the young, the hip, the coolsters. However, not too young! No one under the age of 18 is allowed!  That’s right you 18-39 year olds – NO KIDS!  Wifi, tips, and basic beverages are included. Also included are up to $400 in free drinks!  (It’s $400 for cruises over 14 nights and $200 for over 7 nights and $100 for under.)

Carnival is always offering either 50% reduced deposits or $50 per person reduced deposits, up to $50 onboard credit, and free room upgrades.

Is there such a thing as 80% discounts on cruises, as advertised by some other websites?

Oh gosh, no. We can hardly believe some sites make such silly claims! The reality is, their rates are usually the exact same as the cruise lines.

They are comparing their price to a ‘brochure rate’ to sound like they are offering a discount.

What kind of military cruise discounts do we offer?

• We simply offer a discount off the cruise lines' lowest rate, usually about 5%.

So for a $4000 cruise fare, our discount would be $200. It comes out of our commission, so there’s not much more to give. (That’s why the claim of 80% off is soooo ridiculous.)

Do the cruise lines offer any military cruise discounts and benefits?

They all do something different.

• Carnival consistently has a special low rate just for the military on most of their cruises.
• Royal Caribbean does! Just be sure to check the military box.
• Norwegian has a new military discount program that could get you 10% off – ask us how to get that applied – it is cumbersome.
• Celebrity often has a military rate that’s about $100 less than civilian rates. Celebrity has so many different fare codes, getting the right price with the perks you want is tricky! Let us help.
• Disney occasionally announces a huge military discount on specific cruises. Usually not on holiday or summer-time cruises. Mostly on cruises during the offseason like in October, November, February, and March. We check for those daily and post all details on our Disney page.
• Princess and Cunard offer onboard credit to every military member. The amount is $50 to $250, based on the length of the cruise.

What is our cruise discount for military families and groups?

As always, you’ll get everything the cruise line is offering, plus your entire group will get our military and veteran discount, plus any extra amenities that we offer – usually onboard credits or specialty dining.

Our best advice for getting the maximum cruise discount on a 2024 or 2025 cruise:

Book as far in advance as possible!! Or, cruise in the shoulder season, which would be May, October or November.

Cruise bookings are back: All restrictions on cruising have fallen, so folks are coming back to cruising in droves.

Cruise ships are finally going out full. So if you have any intentions of cruising in 2024 or 2025, do start shopping now and get something on hold so you get in on the good deals. 

How are our military discounts on cruises calculated?

The cruise lines often have anywhere from 3 to 20 different fare codes we could use to price out a cruise.

Some are higher but come with a beverage package or other amenities.

When you book on our site, our site automatically uses the lowest available fare code offered by the cruise line for that cruise.

Then, our site automatically subtracts a discount from that fare - and reveals this new discounted price to you.

If you want to get the perks that are offered with higher-priced fare codes, you’ll need to call us to book. And we’ll help you use that fare code, and then still get our discount applied.

How to find all possible military discounts?

All rates you see on our site already have a military discount added (which means, actually, subtracted from the cruise lines’ lowest rates). So, if you were to compare our rates with the cruise lines, you’d see that ours are lower.

Also, if any other benefits, amenities or perks come with that cruise, we’ll have them listed under that cruise in the ‘BONUS OFFERS’ section. Be sure to click the bonus offer itself to read the terms and conditions.

But honestly, the way you should go about this is to look for a cruise you’d like based on where you want to go, and when you can go. And then see what the best deals are that fit your needs.

How do you get all military deals or discounts applied to your cruise booking?

You don’t have to even try. We do that for you in three ways.

While all spouses, dependents, family, and friends DO QUALIFY for the military discount from Military Cruise Deals, most cruise lines will often only allow the veteran and military discounts to be applied to the cabin which contains the member of the military.

Thus, getting the maximum military discounts and benefits applied correctly is sometimes not an easy and obvious endeavor.

You may transfer your cruise booking to Military Cruise Deals up until 30 days from creation as long as your request is made outside of the final payment period and the booking has not been paid in full.

If a booking has a ChoiceAir ticket or if the transfer request involves a change in the currency we cannot accommodate a transfer.

In order to transfer your booking from Celebrity, Royal Caribbean or Azamara , you have to complete the simple Travel Agent Transfer Form online and when asked for the agency telephone number, you enter 787.932.8059

You may transfer your cruise booking to Military Cruise Deals within 90 days of making the original booking as long as it is not past the final payment date.

Reservations may be transferred to Military Cruise Deals up until 14 days from being booked as long as they are not paid in full .

NO Deposit on Booking : call Norwegian Cruise Line at  877.397.1502 and tell them you'd like to transfer your booking to your travel agent.

They will need your travel agent's agency name and phone number. The number is  866.964.5482  and tell them your agent's name is Mitch from Military Cruise Deals .

Deposit on Booking : you'll need to fill out their simple transfer form and email or fax it in.

Disney offers a special military rate on certain cruises. Disney offers a discount on one stateroom per military member. The discount is for all retired and active US military, their spouses, including the national guard and reserves. You would need to show your ID at the time of check-in.  The military member will have to be there at check-in. Availability to this offer is limited on each sailing.

MSC Cruises

MSC Cruises goes to the Caribbean and the Antilles, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and India, South America, South Africa, Canada and New England, Asia, and Worldwide. They offer up to 10% savings on their cruises. The discount is available to active and retired US and Canadian military personnel, plus family members including spouses, parents, in-laws, and dependant children.

The discount can be applied to multiple staterooms, and they offer zero penalties if you have to cancel because of a deployment. They offer 5% off of interior and ocean staterooms, 10% off of a balcony, suite, and MSC Yacht Club staterooms. Kids also sail free on certain sailings.

Norwegian Cruise Line 

Norwegian goes to many locations such as Asia, Africa, Alaska, Australia and New Zealand, Canada and New England, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Mexico, and Northern Europe. They also have transatlantic and weekend cruises. They have a Military Appreciation Program where you can save 10% off all cruise fares and can combine the discount with the Free at Sea program. Their military discount is for active duty military, reserves, the national guard, and veterans. You need to register for My NCL account where ID.me would verify you.

Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises offers trips to Alaska, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, California and the Pacific Coast, Canada and New England, the Caribbean, Europe, Hawaii, Japan, Mexico, the Panama Canal, South America and Antarctica, Tahiti and the South Pacific, as well as offering world cruises.

Their military discount is offering up to $250 of free onboard spending money, which is a form of onboard credit. This offer is for veterans as well as those who are active, retired, or disabled military personnel.

Cruise length also determines the level of discount.

If your cruise is:

• 6 days or less – $50 in credit
• Between 7-13 days – $100 in credit
• Over 14 days – $250 in credit

You can not use the credit at the casino. In addition, you must apply for this benefit no later than 14 days before your cruise departure date. You would need to download the application and submit the form. The onboard spending money will then be applied to your account.

Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean offers a military rate, open to active duty military in the US and Canada, as well as retired military, veterans with an honorable discharge that have served a minimum of two years or 6-months in a war zone. Spouses can also book one stateroom as long as the eligible spouse is occupying the stateroom. Spouses of deceased military are also eligible.

It also has the largest collection of cruise ships in the world.

Carnival Cruise line is headquartered in Doral, Florida. The cruise line was established in 1972.

The Mardi Gras the original ship until the company introduced the Carnivale in 1975. Today, Carnival has 26 vessels.

What discount do they offer?

Carnival is proud to salute the troops.

The Carnival military discount requires a deposit starting at just $49 per person.

The rates vary based on the calendar.

Celebrity Cruises was created in 1988 by a Greece organization.

It eventually merged with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line and has operated under the subsidiary since that time period.

It offers discounts on rooms for the first and second guests.

It depends on the stateroom you book to find out how much you will save:

• $25 off an Inside or Ocean View stateroom.
• $50 off a Veranda stateroom.

The Celebrity Cruises military discount is available for a four-night or longer stay. The offer is good until May 3, 2021.

The Celebrity military discount is available to all members of the U.S. military.

The special promo applies to active duty, retired, and veterans as well as one other guest.

A valid military ID is required to prove eligibility.

9. Costa Cruises

Costa Cruises is an Italian-based cruise line with origins that impressively date back to the 19th century.

The company has since been bought out by Carnival yet continues to remain a major cruise line.

Costa has multiple options to pick from its fleet.

Costa Cruises does not have an exclusive rate or discount to military personnel.

However, they do introduce low interline rates from time to time, some of which are only reserved for military customers.

Yet the offer is seasonal so you need to check back frequently to find out about their latest deals.

The interline rate is traditionally only offered to employees of airlines and is therefore very good.

It can save you big time bucks on your next cruise.

The biggest hassle is you need to check-in frequently with Costa to see what is new.

NOTE: It has also been reported that Costa Cruises will reduce the mandatory deposit to $100 per cabin if you mention to the sales rep that you are military.

Cunard Line is a British and American venture that is based out of Southampton, England.

It’s operated under Carnival UK and owned by Carnival Corporation, which owns a substantial amount of major cruise lines.

Cunard features three hips in Bermuda and also provides transatlantic journeys either round-trip or one-line.

The Queen Victoria (QV) and Queen Elizabeth (QE) are popular luxury cruises.

Cunard Cruise Line provides an onboard credit for military personnel:

• $50 for 6 days or less
• $100 for 7-13 day cruise
• $250 for 14 or more days

The onboard credit is available to active duty military as well as disabled veterans and retirees. Cunard supports all branches of the U.S. military.

Retired personnel is defined by Cunard as having served a minimum of 20 years of service, medically retired, or 100% disabled.

Veterans that were honorably discharged and served a minimum of two years, or six months in active war are also eligible.

Proof of Eligibility Required

Proper identification for the United States military is a DD214 Form, WD AGO (War Department Adjutant General Form), or NAVPERS (Naval Personnel Discharge Form). 

For Canadians, the NDI75 Record of Service Identification Card or CF75 certificate of discharge are used.

Inform the live agent that you are seeking to earn the onboard military credit for your next vacation.

The special military offer is valid for the first and second person in the stateroom. You can combine the onboard credit military offer with other promo deals in order to maximize savings!

7. Disney Cruises

Disney Cruise Line is a recognizable name given its linked with Disneyland and the multimedia family entertainment corporation.

The company first introduced cruises in 1996 under the name Magical Cruise Company.

It currently operates four ships: Disney Magic, Disney Dream, Disney Wonder, and Disney Fantasy.

The biggest issue with the Disney cruise line military discount is you can only select from certain dates for certain types of cruises.

However, if your schedule is fairly flexible, you can accommodate as Disney is currently booking trips through December.

6. Windstar

Windstar Cruises has a fleet of small luxury cruise ships.

There are six different types of yachts advertised through Windstar that are capable of carrying anywhere from 150 to 310 guests.

Windstar operates in 50 nations with 150 ports throughout Europe, the Caribbean, the South Pacific, and Central America.

The most recent additions to the fleet are the Star Pride, Star Breeze, and Star Legend power yachts.

Windstar provides an undisclosed military discount for active duty personnel in the U.S. Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, National Guard, Navy, Marines, and Reserves.

The offer is also good for Canadian military personnel.

Additionally, veterans with an honorable discharge serving a minimum of two years are eligible along with retirees with a minimum of 20 years of service, or medically retired, or 100% disabled.

Windstar requests that active duty, veterans, retirees, and reservists present a photocopy of a valid military ID and driver’s license (or passport) at the time of booking to receive a military discount from Windstar Cruises.

MSC Cruises is a global line that is based in Geneva.

The company originates from Naples and has since become the largest privately held cruise line in the world. 

MSC Cruises is the fourth largest cruise company in the world, only behind Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Norwegian Cruise Line.

Its current fleet includes: Lirica class, Musica class, Fantasia class, Meraviglia class, and Seaside Class.

Princess Cruises is classified as the second largest cruise line in the world based on total revenue.

Military Discounts

To see cruises that offer military discounts, use the Find a Bargain box on the left.

Sometimes cruise lines offer special discounts or shipboard credits to Vacations To Go customers who are members of the military. Active, reserve and retired members of the U.S. military, the Canadian military and the British military may be eligible. Veterans and spouses of actively deployed or deceased military personnel may also qualify.

In select cases, U.S. Armed Forces personnel in the following branches may be eligible: Army Corps of Engineers, Central Intelligence Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Security Agency (excluding Homeland Security), Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), Secret Service, NASA Kennedy Space Center, NASA Johnson Space Center, the Department of Health and Human Services and Cadets who are currently enrolled in a military academy with a scheduled entry date into the military.

Eligible travelers must present proper documentation at the time of booking to qualify.

Royal Caribbean Military Discount

Royal Caribbean offers special pricing for active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserves, retirees and veterans with an Honorable Discharge serving a minimum of two years, or six months in an active war zone. Spouses of actively deployed military personnel are eligible to book one stateroom as long as the eligible spouse is occupying the stateroom. Valid ID must be presented at time of check-in. The best military travel discounts and perks for service members

Many airlines, hotels, theme parks and cruise lines pay year-round tribute to those who serve our country with various discounts and benefits. Sometimes these deals are available only to active-duty military personnel, and sometimes the perks extend to U.S. military veterans and their families as well.

No matter the form these travel benefits take, they all reflect the gratitude the travel industry feels toward those who have sacrificed so much to protect our country.

Here are the perks that military members can take advantage of on their travels.

Military hotel discounts

Marriott Bonvoy

Marriott Bonvoy and its many brands have discounted federal, state and local government rates available to government and military personnel. To access the discounted rates, choose the " Government & Military " option from the "Special Rates" drop-down menu when searching for a stay. You'll get a list of all the Marriott Bonvoy properties in your chosen city that offer special rates and their eligibility requirements.

Federal and U.S. military employees are eligible for military rates and discounts at participating Hilton properties. When searching for rooms online, check the box labeled "Government/Military Rates" to see the applicable rates. Plus, there's a discount on leisure stays for active and retired military members and their families at participating hotels and resorts (though the rate is not valid for official government or military travel).

Best Western

Best Western properties across the U.S. offer discounted rates for veterans, military members and government personnel .

Plus, Best Western's Service Rewards Program — the hotel chain's award program tailored to members of the military and armed forces — unlocks even more member benefits, including an automatic upgrade to Gold status and bonus points on qualified stays.

Veterans, active-duty members and their immediate family members are eligible for a discount of 10%-15% off Hyatt's standard rate at participating hotels . To get the discount, use the offer code MILVET while booking.

Participating Wyndham properties offer discounts of up to 15% off their best available rate to active and retired military personnel, veterans and their families. Plus, qualifying military personnel and their spouses get automatic Gold-level status when they enroll in the Wyndham Rewards program and bonus Wyndham Rewards points for qualified stays.

B Hotels & Resorts

To honor military members, B Hotels & Resorts is offering an exclusive "B Saluted" discount of 15% off regular rates and two welcome drinks per stay to military members, veterans and their families. B Hotels & Resorts has locations in Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Marathon, Florida.

The hotel chain behind such brands as InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Kimpton and others offers a " Military Leisure Rate " at participating locations across the U.S., Canada, and Central and South America. It applies to active-duty military personnel, veterans, retired military personnel and their families.

Choice Hotels

Choice Hotels — which includes brands such as Comfort, Sleep Inn and Quality Inn — extends a discounted rate for official and leisure travel to active-duty and retired military personnel, their dependents and members of several military associations. Plus, active-duty military members, veterans and military spouses are eligible to join the Choice Privileges rewards program at the Lifetime Gold Elite level and receive a bonus 2,500 Choice Privileges rewards points after your first qualifying stay.

Motel 6, along with its sister extended-stay brand Studio 6, offers active and retired military personnel and their families a discount of 10% off standard rates .

Active-duty military personnel and veterans — in addition to government employees — are eligible for a 10% discount on official travel at any U.S. Red Roof location. The hotel chain also has a 10% discount on leisure travel for all government employees and military members, veterans and retirees.

Military airline benefits

Southwest Airlines

There are special fares for military and government travelers , but you must call the airline to book them. Additionally, military members traveling on active duty (in or out of uniform) can board between the A and B groups and are exempt from the limit of two pieces of checked baggage.

American Airlines

American Airlines offers government or military fares in some markets , while veterans and their families can access reduced fares by enrolling in the VetRewards program .

Active-duty military personnel are also allowed Group 1 boarding privileges; they can bring up to five free checked bags when traveling on orders and up to three free checked bags for leisure travel (weight restrictions apply).

U.S. military personnel traveling in uniform on a same-day American flight can enter Admirals Club lounges with their immediate family — defined as a spouse, domestic partner and/or children under 18 — or up to two guests at most Admirals Club locations except for Airspace Lounge at San Diego International Airport (SAN) and JAL Sakura Lounge at Honolulu's Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL).

Delta Air Lines

Active-duty U.S. service members can call Delta Reservations at 800-221-1212 for discounted fares unavailable to the general public. Delta also offers priority boarding and free checked baggage to active-duty military members. How many bags you are allowed is based on the type of travel and fare type, and you must adhere to the specified size and weight restrictions for baggage .

United Airlines

United offers an additional checked baggage allowance to active duty military traveling on official orders. Active-duty military in uniform, as well as those with leave orders or rest and recuperation papers, are also invited to visit United Club lounges when traveling on a United-operated flight (immediate family may access the lounge, too). U.S. military veterans, active-duty military, National Guard and Reserve members and their families are also eligible for a 5% discount on United-operated flights through the Veterans Advantage program.

Alaska Airlines

In some markets, Alaska Airlines offers military fares to active-duty military personnel and their dependents when you call Alaska Airlines at 800-252-7522 to purchase your tickets. Active-duty U.S. military personnel can board early, check up to five bags for free, receive 15% off inflight food purchases and receive complimentary day passes to visit an Alaska Lounge when traveling in uniform. All other active-duty military personnel can purchase a discounted day pass for $30. Flight discounts are also available through Veterans Advantage .

Active-duty military personnel not traveling on orders get a 5% discount off the base fare by calling 800-JETBLUE. In a separate offer, JetBlue offers a 5% discount to U.S. active-duty military members, retired military members, veterans, National Guard and Reserve members and their families who are enrolled in Veterans Advantage. Those who enroll in Veterans Advantage also get two free checked bags for leisure trips and up to five when traveling on duty.

Frontier Airlines

Frontier typically charges for carry-on bags and checked baggage. However, active-duty armed forces, National Guard and Reserve members receive a free carry-on bag, two free checked bags and one free personal item . Note: These baggage waivers apply only to active-duty military personnel. Families or traveling companions are not eligible.

Allegiant Air

U.S. active-duty and reserve military members, military veterans, members of the National Guard and their dependents get up to two pieces of checked baggage for free through the Allegiant Honors program . Also, the airline waives its typical fees for oversized checked baggage, a carry-on bag, getting a boarding pass printed at the airport and seat assignments. Qualifying service members can also board their flights early.

Spirit Airlines

Active-duty U.S. military members can check two bags for free and bring a carry-on item on board their flight for free, in addition to the already free personal item.

Military train travel discounts

Active-duty U.S. military personnel, their spouses and their dependents are eligible for a 10% discount on the lowest available fare in select fare classes. During your ticket search on Fare Finder, select "Military" for each eligible passenger. Amtrak also welcomes uniformed military personnel to the front of the ticket line.

Military theme park ticket discounts

Universal Orlando Resort

Universal Orlando is currently offering a Military Freedom Pass promotional ticket to all active-duty and retired service members. Ticket prices start at $199.99 for unlimited admission between now and Dec. 24, though blackout dates apply. Each eligible service member can purchase up to six promotional tickets, and they must buy them through a participating authorized military ticket and travel office.

Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal Studios Hollywood offers discounted tickets to active-duty and retired military personnel, 100% disabled veterans, Medal of Honor recipients, active Guard and Reserve members, and the spouses and dependents of the people in these categories. Ticket prices vary based on date, and tickets must be purchased at participating military ticket offices.

Walt Disney World

Active and retired U.S. military personnel are eligible for discounted hotel rates and specially priced theme park tickets at Walt Disney World . Blackout dates apply. Hotel stays can be booked by calling 407-939-7830. Tickets must be purchased at a participating U.S. military base ticket office.

Disneyland honors active and retired U.S. military personnel with discounted three- and four-day Park Hopper tickets. The Disney Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket includes access to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure each day of your ticket, excluding blackout dates. Pricing starts at $245, and you must purchase tickets at a participating U.S. military base ticket office. Hotel discounts are also available by calling 844-776-0015.

Silver Dollar City

Silver Dollar City offers a 30% ticket discount to U.S. active or retired military, veterans and military reservists, along with their spouses and dependent children (ages 4-17) living in their household. In addition to discounted tickets, Silver Dollar City invites all military members and veterans to help raise the American Flag during the park's daily opening ceremony. Service members are also given a red, white and blue ribbon to wear during their time in the park, allowing employees and guests to thank them for their service.

Busch Gardens and SeaWorld parks

Through the Waves of Honor program, all U.S. SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Aquatica and Sesame Place parks offer discounted tickets to active-duty military members and veterans.

Dollywood offers discounted tickets stand annual passes to U.S. active or retired military, veterans, military reservists, spouses and dependents. The savings amounts to about 30% off the regular ticket price.

Military cruise benefits

Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Cruise Line shows its appreciation for active and retired armed forces members with discounted cruise rates, onboard credits and reduced deposits . Additionally, every Carnival sailing has a Heroes Tribute Lounge and holds a military appreciation gathering for service members and their families.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line's Military Appreciation Program extends exclusive benefits to military members, veterans and their spouses. Members of the program receive a 10% discount on all cruise fares.

Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line offers special rates to all military members, active and retired, as well as their spouses. Discounted rates are only available on select sailings, and prices start at $185 per person, based on double occupancy.

Margaritaville at Sea

Margaritaville at Sea honors active and veteran military members with a free two-night cruise through the Heroes Sail Free program. The offer is valid only for ocean-view and interior cabins, and you must be sailing with at least one paying guest in the same cabin. Taxes and fees still apply.

Celebrity Cruises

Active and retired military members can save $25 on inside and ocean-view cabins and $100 on veranda cabins and above on select sailings. This discount applies to the first and second guest in the cabin.

Princess Cruises

Veterans and active, retired and disabled military personnel can receive up to $250 free onboard spending money on select Princess sailings. You can use this onboard credit for specialty dining, onboard boutiques, shore excursions, spa treatments and more.

Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean offers military rates to active and retired personnel, veterans and their spouses. The discounted rates also apply to friends and family members staying in the same cabin as the eligible service member. The best way to access the discounted rate is by booking through a travel agent or booking directly with Royal Caribbean over the phone.

MSC Cruises

MSC Cruises offers discounted fares to all active and retired U.S. military personnel , plus family members traveling with them. You can receive a discount of 5% on interior and ocean-view cabins, 10% on balcony and suite cabins and a "kids sail free" promotion on select sailings.

AmaWaterways

AmaWaterways offers active and retired service members a special military discount of $100 off a river cruise when you use the code MIL100 at the time of booking.

Because these benefits, their requirements and the eligibility of family, spouses and dependents vary, carefully research each military discount offer to avoid any surprises.
