Ed Sheeran tour: See the setlist for his electrifying Mathematics Tour

Portrait of Melissa Ruggieri

In the same week that he debuted a searing Disney+ docuseries (“The Sum of All Things”) and released his sixth album (“Subtract”), Ed Sheeran also launched his 21 date stadium run of North America.

Dubbed The Mathematics Tour, the two-hour show draws from all of his albums since 2011 – “Plus,” “Multiply” (2014), “Divide” (2017), “Equals” (2021) and the new “Subtract,” and also includes a song from 2019’s “No. 6 Collaborations Project” (“Blow”).

Sheeran brought his 26-song set to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for opening night in May, a week after regaling the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival throng with a shorter set. He's also playing intimate theater shows to coincide with his stadium dates in 14 of the cities of the Mathematics Tour.

Here is a look at the set list from Sheeran’s first show.

Multiple GRAMMY® Award-winning, global superstar Ed Sheeran has announced details for the North American leg of his “+ – = ÷ x Tour” (pronounced “The Mathematics Tour”), hitting stadiums across the continent for the first time since his history-making “Divide Tour” in 2018, which officially became the most-attended and highest-grossing tour of all time by its completion. Dates begin on May 6th before wrapping up on September 23rd at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA. Main support for this date will be rapper/singer-songwriter Russ plus special guest Maisie Peters. Sheeran recently wrapped the UK/European leg of the “+ – = ÷ x Tour,” performing in front of over 3 million people in 6 months and highlighted by a five-night stand at London’s Wembley Stadium. To ensure that his fans have the best chance at getting tickets, Ed Sheeran is partnering with Ticketmaster to use the #VerifiedFan system. Registration opened Monday, October 3rd at 10:00 AM ET and closes on Sunday, October 9th at 10:00 PM ET. Fans can register HERE. The Verified Fan Presale is set to begin on Wednesday, October 12th at 10:00 AM and run through Thursday, October 13th 10:00 PM (all times local). Additionally, as part of America Express’ Member Week, American Express® Card Members can access tickets beginning Wednesday, October 12th at 12:00 PM through Thursday, October 13th at 10:00 PM (all times local) HERE, prior to the general on-sale. American Express’ Member Week is five days of curated experiences and offers across retail, dining, wellness, entertainment and travel launching today and running through October 14th. American Express brings music fans closer to many of their favorite artists year-round with epic experiences and access to concert tickets before the general public. To herald the news of his upcoming tour, Sheeran is set to make a pair of high profile, national television appearances. The acclaimed singer-songwriter has a very special performance planned for CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on October 13th, followed by ABC’s “Good Morning America” on October 14th. “+ – = ÷ x Tour” is the first major trek to support “=,” Sheeran’s latest full length album, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 upon its 2021 release, becoming his fourth consecutive album to top the chart. The fourth installment of Sheeran’s symbol album series, “=” is highlighted by its GRAMMY®-nominated lead single “Bad Habits,” which was up for “Song of the Year” at the 64th Annual GRAMMY® Awards earlier this year, and its follow-up smash “Shivers.”

Ed Sheeran is gearing up to get back on the road in support of his new album, = (Equals) , which will be released on October 29. The "Bad Habits" singer will be embarking on the +-=÷x (Mathematics) Tour next April, with many of his UK and European dates announced. While no North American dates have been announced yet, Sheeran has hinted that this is "the start of the next 3 years of my life," and more dates are expected to be announced soon.

Tickets will go on sale beginning September 25, with the first leg of the tour seeing Sheeran kick off in Cork, Ireland then heading off to the United Kingdom, with three shows at London's Wembley Stadium. The tour will then go on through Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Austria, and Switzerland. Tickets for the shows will be available here .

Sheeran's 2017-2019 Divide Tour had become the most-attended and highest-grossing tour ever by the time of its completion, with his +-=÷x (Mathematics) Tour planning to go beyond that. While fans will be able to catch his = (Equals) album live throughout his upcoming tour, Sheeran's manager, Stuart Camp , previously told Variety that a follow-up record can be expected sooner rather than later. Camp told the outlet that they're planning to release more albums while on tour and that they have set aside "most of 2023 for North America."

= (Equals) has been led by the singles " Bad Habits " and " Shivers ," and it has not yet been announced if another single is expected to land before the album's release next month. The singer's music video for "Shivers" paid homage to Elton John , with Sheeran revealing while speaking with Ryan Seacrest that he and John chat every morning.

I’m going back on tour next year, the first leg is on sale Saturday 25th September. Check my website for on sale times & more info. Sheeran will bring together some of his biggest songs to date from his decade-spanning mathematical albums with ‘+-=÷× (TOUR COLLECTION)’ and it will be available on CD, 2xLP (Bright Blue vinyl) as well as digital on streaming.

Ed made the announcement himself on Sunday (08.09.24) after wowing the crowds as part of the closing leg for his ‘2024 Mathematics World Tour’ in Cyprus.

The physical formats will include access to exclusive voice notes from the Grammy Award-winning star and a brand new selection of related merchandise will also be available.

The album opens with the early hit ‘The A-Team’ -which was released as his debut single in June 2011 – and also contains other classics such as ‘Lego House’ and ‘Thinking Out Loud’ before going into the late 2010s with tracks such as ‘Galway Girl’ and ‘Castle on the Hill’.

And closing out the mammoth record is more recent hits ‘Bad Habits’ and Shivers’ with 2023 single ‘Eyes Closed’ serving as the final track on the album,.

Word Puzzles For Every Track On Ed Sheeran’s +-=÷× (TOUR COLLECTION)

Rachel Finucane

Who knew there were more reasons to pay attention in maths class than just settling taxes? Upon discovering what “x” was, our eyes also scoured over its other symbols. As if we knew that everyone’s favorite red-head Ed Sheeran would reface the blackboard to scribble them on in a cacoon of a symphony—then, coming to a mathematical sum-head equating to a tribute to all five themed albums for his +-=÷× Tour. It comprises 149 shows, starting two years ago in Dublin, Ireland, and ending on an odd number with a few more next year in Europe. He doesn’t want to finish the equation, nor do we! We could infinitely stay leaning close to its stage with guitar-pick video screens towering over our heads and the sounds of his peddle machine.

Now we’re able to! Thanks to Ed Sheeran’s +-=÷× (TOUR COLLECTION), we will not only experience the side effects of frequent flashbacks every time we listen to it but also attend the concert in our living rooms! Available on the traditional CD, digital for the streamers, and then a bright blue vinyl press for the collectors, there’s an option available for everyone who only deems math as their favorite subject when Ed is involved!

Subtracting Math Equations For Word Puzzles

However, we must admit that’s a rare occurrence around here (we’ve got a knack for writing, after all). So, while staying within the sum of everything, we’re swapping one equation for another and settling on word problems. We’ve set up 22 +-=÷× (TOUR COLLECTION) inspired equations that you can pop quiz your friend on, having to pass the winner a Guinness, all in the name of Ed. Or if you’re more of a solo gamer, then patting yourself on the back for how much of a fan you are!

Take a look through Ed Sheeran's career:

Career beginnings.

Ed comes from a very creative family - his parents are in the art world and his brother is a composer, so it's no surprise that Ed was encouraged towards music from a young age. He began singing at his local church from the age of four, and learned to play the guitar at 11, even writing songs whilst still at high school. He made it into the National Youth Theatre in London and also performed with Youth Music Theatre UK in 2007. (Pictured at the 'Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk' gallery exhibition in 2019.)

2004: First record 'Spinning Man'

In 2004, Ed started recording his music and independently released his first collection of work, 'Spinning Man'. In 2005, he released 'The Orange Room' EP which featured four tracks - 'I Love You', 'Addicted', 'Misery' and 'Moody Ballad Of Ed'. Ed once revealed that fellow singer-songwriter Damien Rice had been a huge inspiration for him, saying in 2015, "I was only about 11 or 12 years old when I saw Damien play at Whelan's, and that night literally changed my life. The time he spent talking with me after the show made all the difference. It inspired me in a way that I only hope to do for someone else." (Pictured in 2010.)

2008: Britannia High

In 2008, he moved to London to pursue his music career, playing small venues and busking. In the same year, Ed auditioned for Britannia High at the age of just 16-years-old! The auditions were shown on the telly, with Ed auditioning alongside the likes of Pixie Lott and Skins star Mitch Hewer, to take part in a show all about a fictional theatre school. Although he impressed the judges with his voice, Ed didn't quite have all the skills they were looking for, and did not progress.

2010: SBTV performance of 'You Don't Need Me'

2010 was a fantastic year for Ed - he recorded a studio session for Jamal Edwards' SB.TV, and his live performance of 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' went viral. Off the back of that, rapper Example invited him on tour, leading Ed to release his critically-acclaimed EP 'Loose Change', which featured his debut single, 'The A-Team'. Watch his incredible SBTV performance on YouTube. 'Loose Change' was certified Gold by the BPI in June 2024, translating to over 100,000 sales in the UK alone! Ed's career was picking up by now and the internet loved him. He was gaining celebrity fans in the form of footballers, fellow musicians, and even national newspapers. Within that year, he was invited to perform at The Foxxhole, a club run by actor Jamie Foxx, who also invited him to stay at his home.

2011: 'No. 5 Collaborations Project'
