Manual not very clear on resetting the trip odometer Trip A, Trip B on my Range Rover sport 2012 Anyone have the answer? I would like to set them at 0 when I do certain trips. Thank you

Wanted to post that I figured it out: Have to go to trip setting on the menu, go to either the A or B and hold the i button on the left side stalk for 2 seconds and voila it sets to zero.

Information and Message Center - Overview

The message center is located in the instrument cluster, in a central position between speedometer and the tachometer.

The 5 inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display can be continually reconfigured to prioritize and refine the information presented to the driver.

The TFT screen displays vehicle related information to the driver, for example; engine temperature, fuel level, gear position, Terrain Response mode, cruise control and Hill Descent Control (HDC).

Driver information is also displayed, for example; navigation turn-by-turn information, voice control, trip computer information and basic audio details.

A main menu is available which allows the driver to change settings for vehicle set-up, trip computer and display settings.

Information and Message Center - System Operation and Component Description

System Operation

The information and messages which can be displayed in the instrument cluster are mainly generated from other system control modules. When a system control module detects a change or a fault which is tagged to generate a message, an electronic signal is sent via the medium or high speed CAN (controller area network) buses to the instrument cluster, which displays the message. If more than one message is requested the instrument cluster displays them in order of priority.

Component Description

DESCRIPTION

The odometer is located in the bottom RH (right-hand) side of the message center. The odometer displays the total distance the vehicle has traveled. The trip computer readout replaces this when the driver requests trip information display.

Trip Computer

The trip computer memory stores data for a journey or series of journeys until it is reset to zero.

The following are available on the trip computer:

• Trip distance
• Trip average speed
• Trip average fuel consumption
• Instantaneous fuel consumption
• Range available on remaining fuel.

There are 3 independent trip recordings available to view; A, B and automatic. The instrument cluster main menu is used to select which trip recording is displayed. The A and B memories can be set independently, while the Auto trip will reset after every ignition cycle as the vehicle moves.

The automatic trip is always available and is reset each time the engine is started and the vehicle moves. Previous trips can be added to form a continuous trip recording by pressing and releasing the trip button on the end of the LH (left-hand) steering column multifunction switch when the automatic trip information is displayed. The message center will confirm that the previous journey information has been added and pressing and holding the trip button for 3 seconds will add the data. The previous trip information can also be deleted by pressing and releasing the trip button when the automatic trip information is displayed. The message center will confirm deletion of the previous journey data and pressing and holding the trip button for 3 seconds will delete the previous trip information.

Trip A and B can be reset by the driver at any time. When the required trip information is displayed, pressing and holding the trip button for 3 seconds will erase the previous trip information stored. Resetting trip A or B will not affect the other trip information, for example, if trip A is reset, trip B will retain its information until it is reset.

Ambient Temperature

The ambient temperature is displayed in the top RH side of the TFT screen. The temperature can be displayed in degrees F or C and this is selectable by the driver using the instrument cluster main menu.

Range Rover: Using the trip computer

A short press (1 second or less) or a series of short presses of the i button will change the trip computer display. The options available are:

• • Date and Odometer.
• • Trip distance.
• • Trip average speed.
• • Trip average fuel consumption.
• • Instantaneous (short term average) fuel consumption.
• • Range available from remaining fuel.
• • Blank display.

To reset the trip computer values to zero, press and hold the i button for 2 seconds.

To reset the fuel consumption figure, press and hold the i button until the display clears.

To reset trip A or trip B memory, display the trip memory you wish to reset, then press and hold the i button until the message Resetting Trip A or B is displayed. Continue to hold the button for another 2 seconds to reset the Auto trip memory.

The Auto trip memory also resets automatically each time the engine is started and the vehicle moves.

Trips may be added together to record a continuous journey. Press the i button when Auto memory figures are displayed, and Adding previous journey will appear on the screen. Press the i button for longer than 1 second, and previous trip information will be added to the current trip and the cumulative total displayed.

If you wish to delete the trip you have added, again press the i button while displaying the Auto memory figures. Deleting previous journey will appear on the screen. While this message is displayed, press and hold the i button for longer than 1 second. The previous trip will be deleted from the total.

A lot of people have been asking about this and today after some digging I finally found out how to do it! I believe this method will reset all warnings not only the service one. This is especially useful to those who do their own maintenance and do not want to visit the dealer for a reset! I hope this helps all of you! If it worked or didn't work for you please let me know!

just had this done At dealer in N. Scottsdale. It took them 3 tries. Maybe I should share this link with them.  

I'm going to try this. Just called the dealer to ask how to do it, after my more economical service elsewhere. The dealer actually lied to me and said you cannot clear the code without hooking the car up to a computer. They said it would cost $71.50 to clear the code. Can you believe the balls these guys have to lie about that? Minneapolis dealer, in case anyone's curious. How dishonest.

Doesn't work on my 2014, but somehow I managed to turn mine off anyways. I think what finally did the trick was popping the hood and holding down the start engine button.  

This should cover the 2014 model. Warning Devices - Service Indicator Reset General Procedures Synchronization NOTE: Make sure the Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment is not connected to the vehicle. - Set the ignition to the ON position. - Open the hood. - Open the drivers door. NOTE : A service resetting message will appear on the instrument cluster. - Fully depress both the accelerator and brake pedals and hold for 10 seconds. - Set the ignition to the OFF position. - Set the ignition to the ON position and check the message has been cleared. - If the message remains, repeat the process.  

Perfect timing. Went to my dealer today and they also said it would cost $75 to get it reset. Luckily I refused knowing that there had to be a cheaper easier way. Thanks again!

Best way to reset the ecu

Hi everyone, could someone tell me the best and safest way to reset my 13reg Evoque please. Thanks  

Disconnect the black lead from your battery for 5 mins.  

Could this be done via fuse 19 inside the compartment fuse box?  

Pulling a fuse will only disconnect the items on that circuit, depends what you are trying to achieve?  

Disconnect both battery leads and hold them together for 10 seconds to drain any residual charge in the circuits.  

As above, however I would suggest 30 mins disconnected - we had an Audi which required well over 5 mins to discharge residual charge. Not sure if connecting both leads is a good idea, maybe an urban myth, but there are suggestions it can cause damage?

DEF Reset Tool

Hi all hoping if someone could share some wisdom. Ive had the dreaded "diesel exhaust fluid dosing fault"on my 2017 Evoque, which led me to removing the DEF Injector and cleaning all the gunk out of it, however it still hasn't seemed to have removed the warning off the dash, making me to believe I need to reset it using the ODB II port... My ODB II reader doesn't have the functionality to reset the DEF light (naturally that would've ben too easy), anyone know of a tool with this function that isn't going to cause me to sell my left leg to afford it. Any ideas welcomed  

Did you ever find a reset tool? How did you fix this? Thanks!

Thank you Thanks LE Boyd. The 2 times you reset, it was the DEF quality warning? I have read pretty much all those. I drove in sport mode at high RPM for 30-40 minutes. I removed my DEF injector cleaned out the crystals and checked checked my DEF with a spectrometer. I will get that tool. Thanks, Steve  

DA-ST512 Service Hand Held Device (Jaguar Land Rover for CAN based vehicles)

I don't remember which ones of the DEF "xxx miles" messages they were. I remember one was the "249 miles" one. Some of the DEF "miles" messages can't be reset by driving, AFAIK.
