Visiting the Eiffel Tower: Highlights

The world's most-visited tourist attraction has caused a stir ever since it first appeared in Paris over a century ago.

When it was presented at the Exposition Universelle in 1889, visitors were awestruck. No one had ever seen a building this tall or this modern. Nearly two million people made the journey to attend the exposition over several months. Some came just to get a glimpse of the tower. Other brave souls climbed the stairs all the way to the top, which, at that time, required 1,710 steps!

Today, the Eiffel Tower receives around seven million visitors every year. This must-see monument is well-designed to welcome tourists. However, it helps to come prepared for your visit.

To avoid waiting in line, purchase your ticket(s) in advance. Also, consider how much time you'd like to spend here. Giving yourself several hours at the Eiffel Tower allows you to enjoy a meal at one of the restaurants and to go all the way to the top of the tower.

Though the tower was only meant to last for 20 years, it has become the most recognized feature of the Paris skyline. For tourists, visiting this icon is often a highlight of their trip to Paris.

The esplanade at the base of the Eiffel Tower is dominated by four massive pillars, which support the entire weight of the 10,100-ton monument. Gustave Eiffel's engineers Emile Nouguier and Maurice Koechlin worked on mathematical principles to ensure stability.

Because the tower's weight is so well-distributed throughout the framework, the curved base succeeds at securing the structure even in extreme winds. At the ground level, the pressure exerted is only four kilograms per square centimeter, roughly the same weight distribution of a normal-sized adult on the seat of a chair.

The gigantic pillars provide a striking first impression. Much larger than one would expect, the pillars are spacious enough to hold staircases and elevators.

To enter the esplanade and then ascend the Eiffel Tower, you will need a ticket for a specific entrance time. It's recommended to purchase your ticket in advance . Arrive 15 minutes prior to the ticket time.

You may enter the esplanade at the East entrance (from the Avenue de Suffren, walk into the gardens at Rue Buenos-Ayres) or at the South entrance (from the Avenue de la Bourdonnais, walk into the gardens at Rue de l'Université).

Tip: The East entrance is usually less crowded.

To take the elevator to the first and second floors, go to the East Pillar (Pilier Est) or West Pillar (Pilier Ouest). The East Pillar and West Pillar have ticket offices , where you can purchase tickets on the spot (if you did not pre-purchase a ticket). However, keep in mind that you will have to wait in line (and ticket lines can be very long).

If you prefer to climb the stairs (up to the first and second floors) should head to the South Pillar (Pilier Sud) ticket office , where tickets for the stairs can be purchased on the spot. The ticket line is usually not as long when you take the stairs, as compared to the elevator.

The gardens around the Eiffel Tower's esplanade have been recently updated with romantic landscaping. You can admire the lush greenery while waiting in line to enter the tower.

Tip: the East entrance in the gardens is usually less crowded than the South entrance.

The esplanade has a food & beverage kiosk and a buffet-style cafeteria, where you can grab snacks or have a casual meal before exploring the Eiffel Tower. There are also cafeterias on the 1st floor and 2nd floor of the tower.

You can choose to ride the elevator or walk up 360 steps to the 1st floor . At an altitude of 57 meters , the 1st floor floats just above the Paris monuments and provides the perfect viewing platform to appreciate the city's architecture.

Designed with a transparent floor and glass pavilions, the 1st floor features more than 2,000 square meters of outdoor space. There is an open-air terrace with a snack bar, where you can relax and take in the sensational panoramas.

This level has public restrooms; a souvenir shop with many products that are made in France; a buffet-style cafeteria that serves sweets, snacks, and quick meals; and a restaurant, Madame Brasserie , which serves modern French cuisine prepared from seasonal local ingredients.

At an altitude of 125 meters , the 2nd floor offers awe-inspiring vistas of the Paris cityscape. The buildings along the Seine River can be easily distinguished, whereas the 1st level has less perspective, and on the top of the Eiffel Tower, the sights appear small in the distance.

You can take the elevator or climb 344 steps to reach the 2nd floor , which has public restrooms, two gift shops, a buffet-style cafeteria , and a macaron shop. The viewing platform includes telescopes for admiring the scene of Paris. You can see the Louvre, Notre-Dame Cathedral, the meandering Seine River, and Montmartre in the distance.

For gastronomic dining with unforgettable view, try the Michelin-starred Le Jules Verne restaurant. Blending classic French culinary heritage with a contemporary twist, the restaurant presents tantalizing multi-course menus. When arriving at the Eiffel Tower, guests may take the private elevator from the South Pillar that leads directly to the restaurant.

Not for the faint of heart or for those with a fear of heights, the top floor of the Eiffel Tower stands at a dizzying altitude of 276 meters . (The summit with its radio antenna is several meters higher.) To arrive at the top level, you must take the elevator from the second level.

There is a small viewing area inside under a roof and another viewing platform in the open air. From this thrilling vantage point, the astonishing panoramas extend as far as 70 kilometers on a clear day. Paris' monuments look small from this height.

The top level includes Gustave Eiffel's office , which appears exactly as it did when Gustave Eiffel worked here. Wax models show Gustave Eiffel and his daughter Claire meeting with Thomas Edison.

Also on display is the 1:50 scale model of the Eiffel Tower's top floor , which was created in 1889 and shows a previous version of the floor plan.

In the evening, the Eiffel Tower is among the most magical places to visit in Paris. Special lighting effects lend a romantic glow.

At sunset, Golden Lighting illuminates the tower from lamps placed inside the tower's framework. The Golden Lighting was created by electrician and engineer Pierre Bideau in 1985.

Since the year 2000, the tower has featured a dazzling light show that is superimposed on the Golden Lighting. Every night, on the hour from sundown until 11:45pm at night, a Beacon light is cast in a 360-degree rotation, and Sparkling Lights glitter for five minutes.

The Sparkling Lights system is made up of 20,000 light bulbs and required 25 mountain climbers to install over a five-month period. Efficient six-watt light bulbs reduce the energy consumption, making the show more sustainable.

If you are looking for the perfect photo-op with the Eiffel Tower in the background, there are two excellent options: the Place du Trocadéro and the Champ de Mars.

Across the river from the Eiffel Tower, the Place du Trocadéro offers a gorgeous viewpoint. This expansive balcony provides a wide open space and enough distance from the Eiffel Tower to capture the ideal photo.

Closer to the tower, the Champ de Mars allows you to take photos right next to the monument or a little farther away, depending on where the snapshots are taken in the park.

From either of these locations, it is easy to take photos that will become much-cherished memories of the visit. The ideal time to take a photo in front of the Eiffel Tower is in the morning or late afternoon.

The Eiffel Tower presides over the Left Bank of the Seine River in Paris' 7th arrondissement, a chic quartier (neighborhood) with tree-lined avenues and classy Haussmann buildings. As residential neighborhoods, the 7th and the nearby 16th arrondissements give visitors a taste of fashionable Parisian life. Tourists can immerse themselves in the local ambience at sidewalk cafés, open-air markets, and old-time French restaurants.

Luxury Hotels :

• Parisian sophistication and chic contemporary style define the four-star Pullman Paris Eiffel Tower , which is just steps away from the Eiffel Tower and the Seine River. The sleek guest rooms are outfitted with coffee machines and luxuries such as slippers and robes. Many rooms have private balconies, and some rooms have windows that frame the Iron Lady. • In the category of hotels overlooking the Eiffel Tower, the Shangri-La Paris Hotel boasts the most stunning views. • Tucked away on a side street just a few steps from the Champ de Mars park and the Eiffel Tower, the Hôtel de Londres Eiffel appeals to travelers who prefer boutique accommodations. This four-star hotel has a quaint interior decorated in a cheerful style with classic French touches. The cozy guest rooms are outfitted with coffee machines and l'Occitane toiletries; some rooms have Eiffel Tower views.
• The Hôtel La Bourdonnais , across from the Champ de Mars and a short walk from the Eiffel Tower, provides four-star accommodations with a cosmopolitan vibe. • Rue de Grenelle near the Champ de Mars also has many casual restaurants, cafés, bakeries, retail shops, and grocery stores (handy for those who want to pick up picnic supplies).
• Rue de Passy : A short walk from the Eiffel Tower across the Seine River, the Rue de Passy, in the chic 16th arrondissement, is an upscale bourgeois address. The street is brimming with clothing stores, jewelry boutiques, enticing chocolate shops, and bakeries.
• Avenue Montaigne in the 16th arrondissement is the go-to shopping street for fashionistas in search of the latest designer clothes. This elegant avenue is lined with haute-couture fashion boutiques such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Valentino.
• Beaugrenelle Shopping Center (12 Rue Linois) in the neighboring 15th arrondissement is about a 20-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower. Open every day, this multi-purpose shopping center is filled with fashion boutiques, home decor stores, restaurants, cafés, and sweet shops. The center also has a state-of-the-art cinema that screens the latest film premieres.

• Scenic Cruise on the Seine River: For many tourists, a Seine River cruise is a highlight of their Paris vacation. Docked on the Seine River near the Eiffel Tower are several companies that offer boat tours, including Bateaux Parisiens (Port de la Bourdonnais) and Vedettes de Paris (Port de Suffren). There is no doubt that the Eiffel Tower is the most photographed landmark in Paris and it’s not surprising to want to photograph it from various angles! 

I’ve seen the Eiffel Tower countless times and every time I do, I still get that burning urge to photograph it — I could urge that I have thousands of Eiffel Tower pics and I am shamelessly still taking more any chance I get! It never gets old!

But even with my Eiffel Tower obsession ( yes, my jaw drops every time I ”discover a new stunning Eiffel Tower photo spot), there are some Eiffel Tower photo spots that stand out for me to photograph the iron lady from the rest!

So whether you’re visiting Paris for the first time and looking for places to take beautiful pictures of the Eiffel Tower or you’re a seasoned traveler who’s in constant search for the Eiffel Tower best view, in this post, I will share with you my favorite spots to take pictures of the Eiffel tower in Paris.

And while you can get views of the Eiffel Tower from various places, this post is not about where to see the Iron Lady whereby even just seeing the summit is fulfilling, but it’s rather about places where you can take some of the best Eiffel Tower photos and capture it in its full glory!

Go at the right time

Plan to go early in the evening for a sunrise Eiffel Tower photo shoot or late in the evening for the sunset shoot.

You’ll get magnificent photos while still beating the crowds as most of these places receive very few people at those times.

Plan to walk a lot so wear comfortable shoes

Since most of the Eiffel Tower photo spots are not far from each other, the best way is to plan to see them on the same day especially if you just have a few days in Paris.

This means that you’ll walk a lot and the best way not to get worn out easily is by wearing comfortable walking shoes.

Pack the right essentials for the day

If the idea is to be outside for a number of hours, you’re better off carrying your day’s essentials. Below are a few things you should take with you.

• Extra batteries and memory card: These memory cards will work well since you’ll be taking lots of pictures.
• Re-usable Collapsible water bottle: Paris has a number of drinking water fountains so it’s better to take this reusable collapsible water bottle that you can just keep refilling instead of buying bottled water.
• A Power bank: If you plan to use your phone for some photos, your battery will run so take this portable power bank to stay connected all the time.
• Phone: Duh! There is no way you can forget it
• Anti-theft backpack: You’ll need such an anti-theft daypack to keep all your day’s travel items and since pickpockets are common, especially in crowded places, be sure that you can see it at all times. 1. Trocadéro square

This is probably the most famous spot to go for an Eiffel Tower photo shoot and one of my favorite places actually. And since it is directly opposite the Eiffel Tower and a little bit raised, you’re bound to get the best view of the Eiffel Tower.

However, since it’s a popular Eiffel Tower Photo Spot, you can expect to find huge crowds and the best way to beat them is by either going early in the morning for a sunrise Eiffel Tower photo shoot or late in the evening at sunset.

At that time, the crowds will be fewer and you get to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower at the most beautiful times of the day.

And a big plus about the Trocadéro is that you get to take photos of the Eiffel Tower from various angles and spots with the notable ones being the Staircase , the main Trocadéro square which creates a beautiful reflection if you visit at the right time, the Fountain of Warsaw which creates a magnificent backdrop of the Eiffel tower photos and not forgetting the Beautiful Trocadéro gardens which brings out the beautiful contrasting greenery in the Eiffel tower pic.

With all those features, it’s not hard to see why the Trocadéro is one of the most famous and best Eiffel Tower photo spots as you can get a variety of beautiful pictures of the Eiffel tower from just one spot.

2. Champs De Mars

Want to get up close Eiffel Tower pictures, then head to Champs de Mars ! It is a beautiful garden right next to the Eiffel Tower.

It might seem a bit small but it’s actually quite big and you can take Eiffel Tower photos from various angles. This spot is particularly more beautiful if you visit during springtime as it offers some of the best cherry blossoms in Paris.

Imagine a photo of the Eiffel Tower with beautiful pink flowers in it – it can’t get any prettier than this! Spring is actually my favorite season to photograph the Eiffel Tower at Champs de Mars.

However, even if you can’t visit Paris in springtime , any time of the year is a great time to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower.

And if you want to even take it a notch higher and get some of the best pictures of the Eiffel Tower, you can plan a picnic right at the footsteps of the Iron Lady at this gorgeous park.

3. Rue de l’Université

If you’re standing in front of the Eiffel Tower with the Champs de Mars behind you, just head left and you’ll find this popular Eiffel Tower photo spot, Rue de l’Université .

It’s one of the popular Instagram spots in Paris so you can be sure to find people here, and if it’s not that, you’ll find cars parked so you’ll just have to find a way to take pics of the Eiffel Tower at the right moment to miss the cars or the people.

What makes this street popular and beautiful is that you get incredible views of the Eiffel Tower, together with a cobblestoned street and the typical Parisian architecture in one photo.

In my opinion, it’s the perfect place to get the best pictures of the Eiffel Tower. However, be sure to go to the exact spot as this street is quite big (the 10th longest in Paris to be exact), so if you’re not keen enough, you might end up in the wrong spot.

4. Passerelle Debilly

One of the beautiful Eiffel Tower Photo spots is the Passerelle Debilly ! This bridge that connects pedestrians from one side of the Seine to the other – from  Quai de New York  to the  Quai Branly is the perfect spot if you want to take Eiffel Tower pictures with the Seine River in them.

With the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, the love locks, and the bridge in one frame, you’re guaranteed to have a spectacular Eiffel Tower pic.

5. Square Rapp

If you love taking street photos of the Eiffel Tower, then you’ll love Square Rapp . It is a hidden gem off Avenue Rapp in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.

The square overlooks the Eiffel Tower and various Haussmannian architecture-style buildings creating a beautiful Parisian charm and a one-of-a-kind Eiffel Tower photo op.

And, unlike other Eiffel Tower photo spots, Square Rapp is still unknown to many or others just ignore it, which means that you can take countless photos and take in this Eiffel Tower street view without the crowds.

And while in this spot, don’t just stop at taking pics of the Eiffel Tower, take some time to walk down the entire Avenue Rapp and you’ll be treated to secret but beautiful places in Paris you didn’t think existed right in the heart of the capital; like the Lavirotte Building and its controversial doorway known as the “door of Avenue Rapp” and other Haussmann buildings.

This to me is the best street for Eiffel Tower photos!

6. Montparnasse Tower

Sometimes capturing the Eiffel Tower means going to one of the tallest buildings in Paris and Montparnasse Tower is the perfect spot.

With it being directly opposite the Eiffel Tower, you get unobstructed views which means that the Eiffel Tower pics will come out perfectly well with the iron lady protruding through Paris’ rooftops.

You can go to Montparnasse Tower at any time but in my opinion, the best time to go is at sunset to be able to capture the iron lady with the backdrop of a beautiful sunset.

Unlike other Eiffel Tower photo spots, you’ll need to pay to access the Montparnasse Tower rooftop but the stunning Eiffel Tower views you get are worth the price.

And to make sure that you skip the Paris long lines at Montparnasse Tower, grab yourself this skip-the-line entry ticket .

7. Rue St. Dominique

Famous for being one of the best shopping streets in Paris , Rue St. Dominique in the 7th arrondissement also never disappoints when it comes to being a perfect Eiffel Tower photo shoot spot.

With the view of the Eiffel Tower “embroidered” right in the middle of the street with various cafes and partisan buildings beside it, you can be sure you’ll get the perfect Eiffel Tower street photo.

And when you finish capturing that perfect Eiffel Tower photo, don’t be in a rush to leave yet as there are lots of things to do on this charming street.

From indulging yourself with famous Parisian pastries from the many bakeries, eating your heart out at the cute cafes in the area, or shopping until you drop from the many stores.

Regardless of what fills your heart, you’ll find something to do while on your Eiffel Tower photography journey in the area.

8. Seine River

From all the Eiffel Tower photo spots mentioned here, I think the Seine River is the best. I know I keep saying that at almost every spot but there is something about the Seine that brings out the magic and beauty of the Eiffel Tower.

Actually, there is not one specific spot to take photos of the Eiffel Tower from the Seine but rather a variety. So all you have to do is look for a place along the Seine but also near the Trocadero and you’ll be able to capture the Iron Lady clearly.

Other spots at the Seine you can go to photograph the Eiffel Tower include; Pont Alexandre III , Pont Neuf , or even on a Seine River cruise.

The big plus about taking the river cruise is that you’ll get to see the Eiffel Tower from different angles hence taking various photos.

You can take pics of the Eiffel Tower from the Seine at any time but I recommend going at night as you’ll be able to capture the Eiffel Tower with the reflection of the shimmering lights on the water which creates such a magical sight and photo op.

Pro tip* If you choose to go for a Seine cruise, I recommend taking this one if you prefer a day-time cruise but if you prefer photographing the Eiffel Tower as it shimmers at the top of the hour, I recommend taking this Seine river dinner cruise for an absolutely great time.

9. Pont de Bir Hakeim

Another bridge in Paris where you can take stunning photos of the Eiffel Tower is the Pont de Bir Hakeim . The bridge crosses the Seine connecting the 15th and 16th arrondissements .

Its prime location opposite the tower and its design with the steel columns next to it and lanterns in between make for a perfect photo spot of the Eiffel Tower.

While it’s not an incredibly busy bridge like some others, it’s an actual operational bridge with cars and pedestrians.

So while taking that perfectly framed Eiffel Tower pic, be on the lookout not to cause an accident! Being one of the best Eiffel Tower photoshoot ideas, it’s not uncommon to find wedding shoots going on here.

10. Pont d’Iéna

Probably the most famous spot to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower at night or even at sunset. With just a few steps from the Trocadéro, Pont De’lena is the easiest way to connect to the Eiffel Tower from both sides of the Seine – the left and right banks.

At this spot, you’ll literally look like you’re taking photos from under the Eiffel Tower which is quite a unique shot compared to ones taken from other places — something that makes Pont De’lena a really special Eiffel Tower photo spot.

11. Avenue de Camoens

If you’re looking for hidden or less crowded Eiffel Tower photo spots, then look no further than Avenue de Camoens in the 16th Arrondissement.

Since it is located at the top of a staircase, not so many people know about it which means that you’ll be able to take countless photos of the Eiffel Tower without feeling like you’re “hogging” the place.

With the staircase and beautiful Parisian buildings in the background, this place makes for a perfect Eiffel Tower photoshoot spot.

12. Rue de Monttessuy

If you’re like me who can’t get enough of street photos of the Eiffel Tower, then add Rue de Monttessuy in the 7th arrondissement to your Parisian bucket list .

Unlike other places that give that old Parisian charm, this spot has some newer buildings so it will be nice to have a little bit of contrast between the Eiffel Tower and the newer angle of Paris.

13. Galeries Lafayette Rooftop

Another place to take a stunning photo of the Eiffel Tower in Paris is the Galeries Lafayette Rooftop . This Parisian department store may be famous for shopping since it houses luxurious brands but its terrace offers stunning views of the Eiffel Tower.

Unlike other Eiffel Tower photo spots on this list, from here, you can see other popular attractions like the Paris Opera and not forgetting the stunning Paris roofs.

14. Arc de Triomphe observation deck is one of the Eiffel Tower Best Photo Spots

One of my all-time favorite spots to take photos of the Eiffel Tower is the Observation deck of the Arc de Triomphe !

What makes this spot perfect is that it’s not too high so you get to see everything clearly instead of seeing small items below. Besides the view of the Eiffel Tower, you also get to see how 12 roads diverge from the Arc.

Stunning and beautiful, this is one of the best places to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower.

However, since you need to climb the Arc, you’ll need to buy this skip-the-line ticket to avoid wasting time in queues.

15. From The Top Of Sacré Coeur

Being on the highest place in Paris, Sacré Coeur offers an opportunity to photograph the Eiffel Tower without any obstructions.

From here, you get a stunning view of the entire city too! I recommend going there at sunset to see the entire city covered in beautiful yellow-orange-hued colors.

You should note that you’ll need to climb the 300 steps here as there is no elevator and you’ll pay a small fee to climb to the dome even though visiting the church itself is free.

16. From Pont Alexandre III

Pont Alexandre III is my favorite bridge in Paris! Besides being beautifully made with golden statues and street lamps, it’s one of the places to take the best photos of Eiffel Tower.

With the beautiful bridge, the Seine, and the Iron Lady in one frame, this is truly one of the best Eiffel Tower picture ideas.

17. From Various Paris Hotels

While this may not be for everyone since hotels with Eiffel Tower views come with a huge price tag but if budget is not a problem, you may consider staying at one of those hotels.

Some of the hotels to stay at to be able to take stunning photos of the Eiffel Tower include; Shangri-La Paris hotel in the 16th Arrondissement, Hôtel Eiffel Petit Louvre in the 15th, Hotel Le Meurice in the 1st Arrondissement, and many others.

18. From Pont Neuf

Pont Neuf is not only one of the beautiful bridges of Paris but also the best spot to take Eiffel Tower pictures.

While you can go any time, I recommend going at sunset to enjoy a colorful and beautiful sunset with the Eiffel Tower and another bridge in the background!

19. From île aux Cygnes

Many people may not know this but Paris has 3 islands! The 2 natural ones, île Saint-Louis and île de la Cité , and the artificial one called île aux Cygnes in the 15th arrondissement which we’re talking about now.

île aux Cygnes is famous for having the most famous and biggest replica of the Statue of Liberty in Paris but besides this, it’s also one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots.

Unlike other places we’ve looked at before, this one is a little bit less known for those looking for Paris hidden gems .

20. From Rue Le Tasse

Still looking for where to take the best pictures of the Eiffel Tower? Then head to Rue Le Tasse .

While most people flock to Rue de l’Université making it packed almost all the time, one street that equally gives the same Eiffel Tower photo opportunities is Rue Le Tasse in the 16th arrondissement.

Gustav Eiffel’s monument hasn’t always been the jewel of Paris, but it certainly is to millions of visitors today. There are three levels you can visit on the Eiffel Tower, so you’ll need to plan your trip accordingly.

Eiffel Tower Opening Hours and Tickets

Opening Hours:

The Eiffel Tower monument is open daily from 9 am to 12:45 am (last admission at 11:45 pm). Opening hours are subject to seasonal changes, so be sure to check the official website for up-to-date hours on the day of your visit.

There are five different types of admission tickets for the Eiffel tower at varying prices. Some include access by the stairs or the elevator. Here is a quick summary of ticket types and prices.

How Long To Spend at the Eiffel Tower

Short Answer: 3 hours

Assuming you get tickets or a tour to go up the Eiffel Tower, you should plan on at least three hours. As you’ll read in my below recommendations, I think this is best done in a half-day event including a meal and ideally champagne if you plan on doing things correctly.

If you are reading this then you are very possibly planning ahead for your trip. I recommend putting aside some additional sheckles to have a killer meal on the Eiffel Tower! Eating and exploring would take about 4 hours at lunch or 5 to 6 hours at dinner.

If you can’t get tickets or decide not to go up (which is a true mistake!) you should plan on spending 20 minutes walking through the area until you capture that picture of you touching the top of the Eiffel Tower.

How To Get To the Eiffel Tower

The preferred method of transport in Paris is the metro. The Eiffel Tower is located footsteps away from Camp de Mars / Tour Eiffel station which is on the RER C. You can also get off at the Ecole Militair on Line 8 or Bir-Hakeim on Line 6 which are both within walking distance. When you get out of the metro station look for the Eiffel Tower and you’re there!

You can take the 30, 42, 80, 82, 86 or Direct 2. Get off when you feel you are close enough to walk to the tower.

Luckily, you can see the Eiffel Tower from basically anywhere in Paris. Walk towards it!

What To See When Visiting the Eiffel Tower

You may read this and think, “You go to the tower, then you go up the tower, and finally, you see a great view. Right?”

In reality, there’s a lot more to do than you may expect. The structure is extremely tall and it is framed by two huge parks that occupy more than 2 million square feet of downtown Paris, France. In this section, we’ll explain what do to in, at the top, and around the Eiffel Tower.

First Floor, Second Floor, and the Summit

Yes, you should make every effort possible to go up the Eiffel Tower. The tickets start at €11.30, which is affordable enough for anyone who can afford a visit to Paris.

However, don’t think you can show up on a Saturday and say, “Two please!” These tickets are extremely difficult to get. You’re going to want to book ahead, especially if you’re looking to see the best view from the summit.

Hungry? Restaurants at the Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower may look like a thin, wiry structure but at any given moment there could be up to 3,000 people eating, drinking, or snapping selfies from 58 meters to 276 meters off the ground on the Eiffel’s three observation decks.

Facts and History of the Eiffel Tower

• The Eiffel Tower is located in a park known as Champ de Mars which is in the 7th arrondissement of Paris in France.
• The tower was constructed to be the entrance to the World’s Fair in 1889 and took two years to build.
• It was built by engineer Gustave Eiffel whose innovative design has led to his name going down in the history books. Many said that a structure of this size simply couldn’t be built. I assume that motivated him even more.
• The Eiffel Tower is 1063 feet tall (324m) which makes it about 75 stories tall (14ft per story).
• On average, about 7 million people visit the tower per year making it one of the most visited (ticketed) buildings on Earth. It was constructed to display France’s engineering prowess at the World’s Fair and beyond. Today, it has become the emblem of Paris.
• Mountain Climbers: Apparently when the city decided to add more lights to the tower, approx 20,000 lights, they hired mountain climbers to scale the tower and attach them. I wonder what the electricians union thought about that?
• The tower is host to three levels, two restaurants, and various bars.
• Le Jules Verne, which is a Michelin star-rated restaurant on the second level of the tower. The second is named Le 58, which is on the tower’s first level, 58 meters from the ground.
• The absolute top level features a Champagne bar named “Bar A Champagne”. You don’t need a fancy name to sell a class of Champagne on the summit of arguably the world’s most romantic structure.
• Beyond that, there are multiple buffets, terrace bars, and even a macaroon bar (which makes sense).

Best Time To Visit the Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is one of the most visited attractions on Earth with 7 million + visitors per year. Reserving ahead is the key to a positive and stress-free experience. If you can get the tickets, when is the best time to go?

At and after sunset is by far the most attractive time to visit the Eiffel Tower. The tower lights up every hour on the hour after sunset for 5 minutes until 1 am or 2 am depending on the season. The 336 lamps/projectors make the tower light up in a very sporadic fashion which is really a joy to look at.

Do a search for when sunset is the day of your visit and show up 45 minutes before sunset. Book your tickets anytime between 45 minutes before sunset to closure. This way you can see the tower at sunset and go up in the same evening.

You can enjoy the Eiffel Tower during the day as well and watch the light show from the ground at night.

An afternoon at the Eiffel Tower can be really great. The official website advises 1.5 hours for the 1st and 2nd levels and 2.5 hours for all three levels, but you can really stay as long as you like.

Visiting during the day allows you to explore and have a casual meal and or drink while walking around.

Try to get tickets to go up around noon. This way you can have a drink and meal while you are in the tower. If you don’t want to eat buffet food, reserve your tickets for later afternoon. Maybe after 4 pm. This way you can have some drinks on the tower at the end of your day before you get ready for dinner.

April 1 to Oct 31:

From April 1st to Oct 31st, the Eiffel Tower will be extremely hard to reserve. Make sure you reserve in advance to get the entry time you like.

I highly recommend joining a guided tour if you go in the summer. The guides really make the tower come to life and it often includes a sunset cruise on the Seine river. Make sure you read the details to know if the tour you are booking includes that. It is an awesome experience.

Nov 1 to March 31:

With the exception of Christmas, you basically will be able to have your pick on what time to visit the tower. I recommend you go in the afternoon as the temperatures may be warmer.

That said, you are going to want to see it at night evening in the winter. If this is the case, dress warm!

Places To Eat Inside and Nearby the Eiffel Tower

When you visit the Eiffel Tower, you have the option of dining in one of three fantastic restaurants on the Eiffel Tower. We’ve also included a few suggestions for great places to eat nearby, Fore more options, check out our article on the best restaurants near the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Madame Brassiere

This is a great restaurant with views over the Seine. The cuisine is also wonderful thanks to Michelin-star chef Thierry Marx who focuses on sustainable foods.

You can opt to eat in the classy restaurant or sit in the more relaxed lounge that also has great city views and is ideal for an evening drink and appetizers. Coming in the morning? They also serve breakfast that’s worth coming early for.

• A very high-quality meal crafted by Thierry Marx who received two Michelin stars at Sur-Mesure
• An experience you will not forget.

For me, it is a no-brainer. If you can plan ahead far enough to get the reservation, you should save the extra money for you and another person to enjoy this experience.

Le Jules Verne

The definition of bon vivant is a person who enjoys a sociable and luxurious lifestyle. The photo next to it had better be someone eating a meal at Jules Verne. The restaurant has received 1 Michelin star under all four chefs who have run Le Jules Verne.

Here, a meal will run you €190 – €230 per person for dinner excluding beverages—a five-course and seven-course menu respectively. It might not be for everyone, but if you can you should.

They have a slightly more affordable menu at €105 for lunch excluding beverages for a 3-course tasting menu. Eating at the Jules Verne is a special experience for anyone who can afford it and manages to get a booking.

You can book through their official website. They release timeslots 90 days in advance, so forget about booking a year ahead. You have two choices: the Main Rooms (overlooking the city) and the Alcove (overlooking the interior).

Main Rooms obviously go first, although the website tries to sell the benefits of the Alcove. You can sit down for lunch between 12 to 1:30 pm at 15-minute intervals.

Dinner sit-down times are 7, 7:15, and 7:30 pm. Expect a magnificent 3-hour dining experience for the 5-course menu and longer for the 7-course menu.

Bistrot Buffet

Throughout the 1st and 2nd floors, there are various buffets, snack bars, and shops that will satisfy your hunger or thirst. Exactly what you will expect from a stand-up counter service establishment. Definitely gets the job done.

If you manage to get the coveted ticket to the summit or top tier, definitely put aside a few euros for a glass of champagne. There is a small bar that serves champagne named Champagne A Bar . Very straightforward.

Near the Eiffel Tower

Café de l’Homme : €€€€ | Eiffel Tower Views —You could say this upscale bistro is more about the view than the food but many would say it’s about both. Just across the river located on Place de Trocadéro, this treat would definitely impress that special someone. Be sure to reserve a table with a view in advance or you will only see part of the experience.

Arnaud Nicolas : €€€ | French Cuisine —Enjoy a cut of meat? This institution has earned the most prized awards in France for preparation of pâté and foie gras among other dishes. This is a special meal so make reservations and come hungry.

8 of My Favorite Places to See the Eiffel Tower

One of the questions I’m often asked is, “Does seeing the Eiffel Tower ever get old?” Without batting an eye, I quickly answer “No, it certainly doesn’t!” One of my favorite things is coming across a view that I’d not discovered previously. Whether at my home in the 7th arrondissement or clear across the city, spotting Paris’ iconic landmark is a bit of a sport for me.

Favorite Places to See the Eiffel Tower

When I first moved to Paris five-and-a-half years ago, I could see the Eiffel Tower from the window in my tiny studio in the 8th arrondissement. I can’t remember a time that I didn’t stop and watch the hourly light show. That, as well as walking the city, was my entertainment when money was tight. Even after all of these years, I still love to wander and discover different Eiffel Tower vantage points, as well as revisit some of my old favorites. A post that’s long overdue, here are eight of my favorite places to view the Eiffel Tower, from open-air rooftops to the most hidden alleyways.

Rue Saint-Dominique

If you follow anyone on Instagram that spends any time in Paris then you’re likely familiar with this view. And if you watch my Instagram Stories then you’ve probably seen this perspective more times that you care to remember. Well, for two years, this little stretch of Rue Saint-Dominique was where I lived. That’s right; every time I walked outside of my building’s door, this was my view. Not bad, I must say.

Place de la Concorde

Many of the best places to view the Eiffel Tower are actually iconic Paris locations themselves. One of these is at Place de la Concorde and Rue de Rivoli. Here, at the corner of the Tuileries Gardens sits the famous Lion au Serpent statue. Standing in this historic part of the city, you can feel the history while admiring the most iconic Paris landmark of all in the distance — the Eiffel Tower. The great thing about the view from along the Tuileries fence is that you also get to see the Luxor Obelisk, the Place de la Concorde fountains, Assemblée Nationale, the Grand Palais, Hôtel de Talleyrand, Jeu de Paume, and Hôtel de Crillon.

Galeries Lafayette Rooftop Terrace

My readers know I love Galeries Lafayette, so it should come as no surprise that the rooftop on the 7th floor of the department store is one of my favorite places to admire the tower. The Terrace at Galeries Lafayette offers spectacular 180-degree views of Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, Palais Garnier, and sprawling city rooftops too. Weather permitting, the rooftop is open daily, and access is free of charge.

Paris Palace Hotels

I love hotels, and Paris has no shortage of incredible ones! In France, the government designates hotels that have exceptional history and luxury with the “Palace” distinction. Most of these Palace hotels offer some of the best views of Madame Eiffel from their rooms, restaurants, and bars. A few to consider are the Four Seasons George V , Plaza Athénée (AKA, the hotel from Sex in the City ), Shangri-La , Le Bristol , Le Meurice , The Peninsula , and La Réserve . Although not a Palace, I equally love Hôtel Raphael , located next to The Peninsula.

Rue Berton is one of my secret spots in the city. This narrow, cobblestoned street is tucked in the side of a hill and surrounded by lush greenery. Rather than the 16th arrondissement, Rue Berton feels like it’s in a tiny French village, if it weren’t for the Iron Lady standing tall between the buildings. It’s one of few places where it’s possible to sneak photos of the tower without a person in sight. Head to where Rue Berton passes alongside the Auguste Perret building for this iconic view.

Avenue du President Wilson

Step off the train at the metro station Trocadero and stroll along Avenue du President Wilson. Here, near Palais de Tokyo, at the stairs on the right side of the sidewalk is one of most spectacular places to view the Eiffel Tower. Those steep steps have served as my Stairmaster on many occasions. The reward each time I make it to the top is the view of Madame Eiffel, with the historic Parisian buildings in the foreground. That’s certainly worth the sore knees.

Rue de l’Université

There’s nothing quite like viewing the Eiffel Tower from a location where everyday Parisian life is taking place. Rue de l’Universite is a long road through the 6th and 7th arrondissements. As one of the city’s most prestigious streets, it transects some of the most beautiful and sought after real estate in Paris.

That’s why the corner of Rue de l’Universite and Avenue de la Bourdonnais is one of my favorite places to view the Eiffel Tower. Here, the Haussmanian buildings frame the Iron Lady like an antique gilt frame. It’s a view I enjoy even more at night, when the windows of Parisian apartment buildings glow in the foreground, and the tower shines behind.

Square Rapp

Square Rapp is one of the most secluded places to view the Eiffel Tower. Walk down Avenue Rapp and you just might miss the entrance to the square. After all, the famously ornate Jules Lavirotte building just on the corner catches most everyone’s attention. If you follow me on Instagram, then you know it’s been a long-time dream to live in Square Rapp. The surrounding buildings feature ornate architecture, wrought iron terraces and other unique architectural elements that set my heart aflutter. The fact that the Eiffel Tower is perfectly centered between the two corner buildings is just an added bonus.

Visitor tips

The Eiffel Tower tops everyone’s itinerary when they come to Paris, so you’ve got to plan your visit if you want to explore the tower without the hassle of large crowds and long lines.

If you’re visiting Paris during its low season, from November to April, it’s easier to get Eiffel Tower tickets and feel like you’re getting an exclusive experience because there are fewer tourists. The downside is the colder weather, so be sure to bring layers as temperatures can vary as you scale the tower.

In high season, particularly in the summer months of June, July, and August and around the Christmas holidays, you can expect even longer lines than usual at the Eiffel Tower. One tip to make this better is to go with a knowledgeable local who can help you pass the time.

For visiting the third floor of the tower, remember that the summit ticket is an optional add-on for either of our tours of the Eiffel Tower, but tower staff can (and sometimes do) close the summit at their discretion due to crowds, maintenance, weather, and various other reasons. If they close the summit, we’ll refund you that portion of your ticket, but it’s good to know in advance that this is a possibility.

Finally, after an hour or two on top of the city, come back to street level to walk along the Champs-Élysées, visit the nearby Arc de Triomphe, or — if you want something fancy — grab a meal at the Michelin starred 20 Eiffel restaurant.

Frequently asked questions about the eiffel tower, will we have to wait in line.

The Eiffel Tower Elevator tour doesn’t include skipping the line. Your guide will purchase tickets for you after you arrive. Please be aware that the wait time to purchase tickets can be up to two hours, meaning the total time for this experience can vary from 2-4 hours. However, rest assured that your guide will keep you entertained and provide insightful information about the Eiffel Tower while you wait in line together, another benefit of going with a guided tour.

How long does it take to visit the Eiffel Tower?

After you get through the lines, you could take the elevator up to the second floor in less than 30 minutes if you’re tight on time. We recommend giving yourself 90 minutes to take in the stunning views on the first and second levels, and maybe indulge in a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants inside the tower. 

Can you climb to the summit of the Eiffel Tower?

You can’t reach the tower summit by climbing, but there is a glass elevator to take you there. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience we think everyone visiting Paris should have. There’s nothing like being on top of the City of Lights! To get to the summit, take an elevator from the second floor up to the very top.

How many levels does the Eiffel Tower have?

The Eiffel Tower has three levels open to visitors: the first floor, the second floor, and the tower summit. The first floor is exclusive to those climbing since the elevator takes you straight to the second floor

What can you see at the summit?

The Eiffel Tower summit gives you a bird’s-eye view of the city. It also has a recreation of Gustave Eiffel’s private office, complete with wax figures. And let’s not forget the champagne bar, where you can toast your Paris adventure — that’s history, scenery, and bubbly all in one.

We understand plans change. We offer a 100% refund or the option to reschedule up to 24 hours before your tour start time. Cancellations within 24 hours aren’t eligible for refunds or rescheduling.

Is the tour wheelchair and stroller accessible?

While the Eiffel Tower Elevator Tour is accessible for foldable strollers, the climbing tour is not. Neither Eiffel Tower tour is accessible for wheelchairs. If you use a wheelchair, you are encouraged to book a private tour or visit on your own using the Eiffel Tower’s priority entrance.

When should I arrive?

Plan to be there 30 minutes before your tour’s start time to ensure you can find the meeting point and your tour guide. Our tours start on time, so you may not be able to catch up if you arrive late.

What is your weather policy?

Our tours run rain or shine, so please check the local forecast and plan accordingly. In rare instances when we have to cancel for extreme weather, we’ll offer you the chance to reschedule or a refund.

Where is the tour meeting point?

Meet the ground team from ExperienceFoundry outside the Eiffel Tower at the South Security Entrance on Allée des Refuzniks near the trees and the benches. Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that the most iconic monument in Paris, if not all of France, is the Eiffel Tower! And so when you’re visiting the French capital, one of the best things about exploring Paris is that you never know quite what you’ll stumble upon La Tour Eiffel next! Here’s your guide on where to find the 20 best Eiffel Tower views , including the best places to photograph the Eiffel Tower.

Whether it’s nighttime in Paris or the sun is shining brightly, one of the best way to enjoy the delights that Paris has to offer is to book a Seine River Cruise. For those who wish to find one of the most iconic views of the Eiffel Tower (especially at night) , you need to look no further than the oh-so-Haussmannian rue Saint-Dominique.

Situated in the 7th arrondissement of the city, the prettiest view of the city is to be found at night, on the hour, every hour, when the tower glitters for a five-minute free show.

Far from the bustling crowds of Paris and high above the city, the Parc de Saint-Cloud is an oasis of calm a mere metro ride away from the city. Stroll around the gardens and wander along the long herbaceous borders.

This green space also makes for the perfect place in which to enjoy a picnic in the summer months! After all, the gardens are all that remains of a once-grand château that dominated the park.

Today, the place is a haven for cycling enthusiasts and is the perfect location to head to on a sunny day. On one particular summer visit to the park, we even managed to find wild strawberries…

Although the Georges Pompidou centre is much more famous for its abundance of modern artwork ( think Picasso, Kandinsky, and Braques to name but a few… ), the view from the top should not be missed. Situated in the very heart of Le Marais area of Paris, the centre is a great place to capture some of those iconic Parisian rooftops ( particularly at sunset ).

If you want to skip out on the museum and simply enjoy the Eiffel Tower view instead, then it’s perfectly possible to simply buy a rooftop pass (those under 26 who are residents of the EU can go for free). If you’re planning on visiting the entire complex, then purchase your Pompidou Centre Ticket here.

It may well surprise you, but one of the best Eiffel Tower pictures spots is on the Parisian metro itself. There may be a fair few metro stations below ground in Paris, but of course, the only way to see the Eiffel Tower is  above  ground.

And so the metro line running between Bir Hakeim and Passy should not be missed if you’re looking for unusual places to see the Eiffel Tower. The metro line is 6, between Passy and Bir Hakeim, and offers a fantastic view of the Tour Eiffel.

If you do choose to capture this image, be sure to stand with your camera at the ready as you’ll only catch a glimpse of the Iron Lady for a few seconds at most (meaning that this is one of the hardest Eiffel Tower views to capture) …

Editor’s note: the Deli-Cieux Café at Printemps is now permanently closed. Instead, in its place is a fine-dining establishment known as La Perruche. Though notably more expensive than its predecessor, the indoor and outdoor dining spaces offer stunning views of the Eiffel Tower.

If there’s anywhere I could return to over and over again to spot the Eiffel Tower from, it’s café Deli-Cieux . Situated on the roof of the Printemps department store, not far from Opera, it’s the perfect place to grab a couple of coffees, use the fast WiFi and enjoy the view; all this for less than €5.

Situated in the very heart of the 20e arrondissement of Paris, not far from the Père Lachaise cemetery, Parc de Belleville is where actual Parisians come to hang out. With a great view, its own secret vineyard and plenty of green space, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a picnic in the summer months.

I’ve said this before countless times, and no doubt I’ll say it again, but the best place to spot the Eiffel Tower at sunrise is from the Parvis de Trocadéro. Oh, and from the water mirror (Fountain of Warsaw) below. Throughout the year, the sun rises up, from behind the Eiffel Tower, filling the sky with candy colours.

Of all the unusual places to see the Eiffel Tower in Paris, seeing the Dame de Fer from the top of the Pantheon is probably my favourite. It’s here you’ll find the iconic Fouquet’s Pendulum (or, a replica at least!), and many famous French people entombed.

One of the highest honours a French citizen can receive is to be interred in the Pantheon. The likes of Voltaire, Marie Curie and many more have all found their final resting places within the marble walls of the Paris Pantheon. For more information, check this guide to the Paris Pantheon .

There’s no denying that the best view of the Eiffel Tower in all of Paris must be from the top of the Arc de Triomphe! I’ve previously said that you  shouldn’t go up the Eiffel Tower  when visiting the city.

Mainly because it’s in the centre of a green space and so you can’t really see those iconic rooftops, but also partly because you can’t see the Eiffel Tower if you’re on it!

And if you’re  still  stuck for ideas, almost every rooftop in the city offers views onto the Eiffel Tower. There are actually laws in place preventing the construction of skyscrapers and tall buildings within the city limits.

This is why the majority of tall buildings in the city lie in La Defense area of Paris. These decrees also mean that almost every spot of the city offers good views onto the Eiffel Tower!

If you’re anything like me (self-confessed Paris obsessed), then the likelihood is that you may well have more than a few souvenirs lying around the house. Why not put that postcard in a frame and place it on your desk? Or add some French-themed stickers to your mood board?

I’ll be the first to admit that I have well and truly tried to bring Paris home to the UK with me (vintage Paris maps on the walls, Eiffel Tower bedspread, French-inspired clothing, all of the Eiffel Tower memorabilia !!)

I’ve said it before and no doubt I’ll say it again: one of the best free Parisian views can be found at the very top of the Galeries Lafayette flagship store along Boulevard Haussmann.

The rooftop terrace offers 180-degree views over the city, including onto Opera Garnier, plenty of Hausmmannian architecture, and of course views of the Eiffel Tower.

Free to visit, the terrace is open year ’round, though is closed during particularly bad weather (such as rain or snow). Visit the store itself at any time of the year and you can enjoy the stunning Art Deco cupola with its impressive stained glass window and indoor terraces.

Come Christmastime, a giant Christmas tree is erected in the heart of the central store dome, with a quirky and new theme for the tree each year.

The tallest structure in Paris (with the exception of the Eiffel Tower, bien sûr), is that from the top floor of Montparnasse Tower. Located in the 15th arrondissement of the city, this 59-floor skyscraper is pretty controversial in the city on account of how ‘ugly’ locals regard this 1960s build to be.

Though most of the tower is private, closed off to the public, and is used as office space, the top floor and the rooftop offer stunning panoramic views of the city, including a fantastic Eiffel Tower view.

When in Paris, the one district you absolutely cannot miss is that of Montmartre . Otherwise known as the 18th arrondissement of the city, this is where visitors and tourists alike will soon discover the ‘Paris’ of old that everyone so raves about.

Between small house museums and cobbled lanes, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in this whimsical Parisian district. Not only that, but Montmartre also happens to be home to the magnificent Sacré-Coeur , and a large open space in front of the ecclesiastical building which offers stunning views over Paris, including of the Iron Lady.

A favourite among wedding photographers, Pont de Bir Hakeim is characterised by its light-filled arches and unparalleled views of the Eiffel Tower. Best seen early in the morning, when the light is as its best, this bridge also offers a viewing platform of Paris and the River Seine roughly halfway along the bridge.

Perfect to enjoy cherry blossom season in the springtime , Champ de Mars is also home to some of the best magnolia trees at the same time of the year. Popular all year round, this green space resides below La Tour Eiffel and is especially enjoyed when it comes to Parisian picnics in the summer!

Often cited to be the most beautiful bridge in the world, Pont Alexandre III is easily one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris . And not just because the sumptuous early 20th-century structure is in itself incredibly beautiful.

Instead, the bridge arches its way across the Seine and offers views of many iconic Parisian landmarks, including of Les Invalides, Petit Palais, and the Tour Eiffel.

If you’re looking for a beautiful morning walk in Paris, then you simply need to head to Avenue Rapp. Square Rapp and Avenue Rapp can be found in the heart of all the action.

Overlooking the Eiffel Tower and all Haussmannian architecture in style, this hidden gem of the 7th arrondissement is a pretty escape from the hustle and bustle of other tourist hotspots in the area.

Spanning the River Seine, the pedestrian footbridge of Passerelle Debilly was constructed in 1899 and opened just in time for the World Fair of 1900. Built so as to serve as a pedestrian footbridge connecting the two sides of the Seine, today the bridge offers one of the best Eiffel Tower views in Paris!

Editor’s note: Due to a terrible fire at Notre Dame in April 2019 , the French ecclesiastical building is closed for renovation works and repairs until further notice. However, the cathedral can still be admired from fairly up close and from various vantage points around Paris, including on Île de la Cité itself.

With its flying buttresses and world-famous gargoyles, there are few Cathedrals in France, nor indeed in Europe, quite as iconic as that of Notre Dame. Made famous thanks to a Victor Hugo novel of the 1800s, one of the best Eiffel Tower views in Paris can be found if you pay the small fee to go all the way up to the towers and enjoy the panoramic view from the top.

If you’re wondering ‘can you see the Eiffel Tower from the Seine?’ then I have great news for you! Indeed, you can enjoy views of La Dame de Fer from all along the River Seine.

The view begins from Pont Neuf and then the Eiffel Tower can be spied all the way along the banks, particularly on the right bank (rive droite) as the Eiffel Tower is located on the left bank (rive gauche).

The largest cemetery, and technically the largest park of intra-muros Paris is that of Père-Lachaise, which is to be found in the 20th arrondissement of the city.

No one quite knows how many people are interred in the graveyard, though some estimates put the figure at up to 6 million souls. As well as burials, in a little-visited corner of the cemetery, you’ll find one of the best Eiffel Tower views in all of Paris.

Situated on Place de la Concorde  (the largest public square in Paris) , Hôtel de la Marine has seen plenty of history since its construction in the latter half of the 18th-century.

Once used as the headquarters for the head of the French Navy, today the grand building is open to the public once more, and several of the State Rooms offer breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower over Place de la Concorde.

Of all the bridges in Paris (and there are technically over 30) , Pont des Arts is easily one of the most famous of them all thanks to its central location and former status as the ‘love lock bridge’.

Spanning a stretch of the Seine between the Louvre Museum and the Institut de France, the bridge is one of the most beautiful spots in Paris from which to enjoy beautiful views of the Eiffel Tower.

One of the very best places to see the Eiffel Tower if you want to find a shot surrounded by Haussmann architecture is that of rue de l’Université. Situated in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, this is easily one of the most Instagrammable streets in Paris!

If you’re in search of some close up shots of the Eiffel Tower or looking for a unique back drop for a fashion shoot in Paris, then the Promenade d’Australie offers one of the most beautiful unobscured Eiffel Tower views. Located in the 15th arrondissement, this pedestrianised walkway was created in the 1940s.

If you want a fantastic view of the Eiffel Tower served alongside a delicious cocktail, then you need only to visit one of the many incredible rooftop bars dotted across Paris.

One of my all-time favourites is that of ILVOLO, which is actually on the roof of the Novotel hotel near Montparnasse in the 15th arrondissement. Though the cocktails and wines are a little on the pricey side of things, the view is well worth the price tag if you’re looking for a special occasion view.

It goes without saying that, if you truly want to experience the best of the view, then you should be sure to head to the rooftop bar at sunset so that you get to see the Eiffel Tower transform from day to night.

One of the very best Eiffel Tower photo spots is also one most beautiful streets in all of Paris . Avenue de Camoëns can be found in the 16th arrondissement of the city and can be found in the Muette district of the area. Best seen at sunrise so as to enjoy the stunning light on the Eiffel Tower, it’s truly a must-see while in the city.

One of the quieter cemeteries in Paris is Passy Cemetery, which lies on the outer boundaries of Passy and gives views onto the Eiffel Tower. The cemetery was founded in 1820 and was actually established in order to replace the former  l’ancien cimetière communal de Passy .

By the latter half of the 19th-century, thanks to its position in one of the wealthiest areas of Paris, the Passy Cemetery had become a veritable necropolis for the well-to-do of the French capital.

I spotted the Eiffel in Montmarte…Outside Sacre Couer on the right side (if facing the basilica).

I also loved Parc de Buttes Chaumont it is an amazing park with amazing views as you climb the stairs that lead up to the lookout. Love the little streams that run through it & the sound on the small waterfall cascading over the rocks an amazing place & worth the visit.

Thanks for this list, Sophie! We’re heading to Paris in a couple of weeks, so this will definitely come in handy. 😉 LOVE the photo from the Eiffel Tower as seen from the metro, it’s gorgeous! Hope the weather will be nice when we visit. 🙂
