The X Factor Live Tour is a tour which occurs after the conclusion of each series of the X Factor where the finalists and other contestants toured the UK and Ireland .

One Direction and eight other contestants from series 7 participated in from February 19 – April 9, 2011.

With help from their mentor Tulisa Contostavlos , Little Mix built up a strong fanbase called Mixers with their excellent vocal harmonies, strong performances and, on December 11, 2011, they made history by becoming the first group ever to win X Factor UK in the show's ten-year history. They released their first single, a cover of the Damien Rice song " Cannonball ", that same day via digital download. A physical copy of the single, which will also contain 3 of the group's best performances from the show, was released in stores on December 14, 2011. "Cannonball" debuted at number one on the UK Singles Charts 4 days later on December 18, 2011.

The X Factor live tour – review

W ell, there's no doubt that the machine works. The X Factor tour, robbed even of the dubious shocks and spontaneities of the televised competition, is as sleek and slick as an otter's pocket. And someone's doing something right to bring this much sugar-joy to so many people, even if the collective age of the – goodness, what, 100,000 wildly happy people – probably came to about the same as that of a night in Ronnie Scott's.

Goodness, they were young. It's an odd sight to watch a seven-year-old boy waving a big foam finger, in time to "She Bangs" or "Sex Up My Fire" or some such, towards a flaming stage full of illegally skimpy dancers while simultaneously rubbing his eyes with 10pm tiredness.

Is it a "nice" machine, though? Oh, I don't think so. First, it's in an O2 Dome, enough said. Second, there's no host: just giant side-screens flashing on between acts to boom out the X Factor music with ripe bombast, show clips from the worst auditions so we can laugh all over again, and ask for answers to trivia questions (at £1.50 per text plus usual mobile charges, naturally). The whole thing reeked of micro-management, of course: and they must be aware that, for all the labelling of pretty much all the standards as "soul" or "rhythm and blues" there was as much genuine soul or blues in this cattle-herd of a night – and I mean herding of the acts as well as the audience – as in the average piece of office equipment. Get up, I feel like a fax machine.

But I can't be too sneery because I am acutely aware I am so far from the target demographic. What then of the music? There was a lot of Cher Lloyd, now red of hair, stomping in trainers and tutu. She and Paije Richardson were popular openers, and have morphed (as have most) into true pros. Soon, it was time for Katie Waissel, and she impressed: coy, gentle, talented. As, hugely, did Rebecca Ferguson: my goodness that girl can sing, and actually did bring a little soul, along with some lovely black dresses, to proceedings. She will last, surely, longer than any of the others.

Despite their appearance sending the audience into meltdown, boyband One Direction were confusing, because, um, how do I put this, they can't all sing very well. These guys are being touted as the next big thing, redolent with talent and charm. On this appearence, they make mid-period Boyzone look like the Rat Pack. And nice home lass Mary Byrne, despite a reception of the type that wouldn't have disgraced Nuremberg, is, it has to be said, no Susan Boyle. Oh, the sentences you find yourself writing.

Part of the problem, oddly, is that I missed the catfighting, the tabloid exposés, the sulks and tantrums for which at least two of these acts are famous. It's weird, this phenomenon: after decades in which TV stole the stars of music hall and theatre, leaving those venues struggling, now the well-watched travails of the contestants are filling these O2 cathedrals of popcorn greed, vast crowds traipsing through the rain to a real venue to see them because they've been on the telly. Well, bits of them. The telly competition was devised to make money by showing weaknesses, tears, personalities. The tour is designed to make money by precisely obliterating these and all other traits. Call me cynical, but I've got nothing on Cowell's mob.

What must backstage here be like, I had earlier thought, given the infightings and jealousies of the competition, as they await their next solo turn – and I suddenly realised probably very dull: they'll be being forced into knitting or spelling bees or something, made to behave, for money, which is OK as it goes, but one aspect was unforgiveable. Not even final act Matt Cardle – the third genuinely impressive singer after Katie and Rebecca – actually had the X-factor enough to break with orders and introduce even the dancers, let alone the four-strong band who had all night produced both good and bad songs with phenomenal skill. The lowliest rackety pub band knows to do this, to an audience of five damp drunks.

But an unmemorable night? Oh no. The memory of sitting, still damp from the Dublin smirr and aching from emergency dental work, behind many pairs of giant pink flashing rabbit ears, and a zillion tweenies filming from their videophones with the squint-eyed concentration of Antonioni, while watching Wagner murder the I had thought unmurderable "Love Shack", will live a long day.

The x factor live tour.

PRG XL Video recently supported Production Manager Iain Whitehead and Production North with lighting, video and rigging services for The X Factor Live tour 2017. Stopping off at nineteen venues around the UK, the tour featured the stars of the 2016 series of the popular prime-time weekend television show.

Lighting Designer Peter Barnes returned for his sixth X Factor Live tour to design the set, lighting and video screen layout. Peter explained the creative process behind the show: “I worked closely with Creative Director, Beth Honan, on her staging requirements and overall artistic look of the show. The general design complimented what the audience would be used to from the TV show. Although there was no particular brief given to me, with this particular show, there’s always been a video screen which opens upstage centre, and the rest just falls into place from that, filling in the background with screens and lights. Whilst designing the set and lighting layout to fit in with Beth’s vision, it was also of paramount importance for me to regularly liaise with Iain Whitehead and his production team, as well as my lighting Crew Chief, Steve Major to ensure the rig was practical from a technical and build perspective”

Lighting technology used on The X Factor Live tour included the PRG Best Boy spot HP, Vari*Lite VL3500, Clay Paky Mythos, Sharpy moving lights, A.Leda B-EYE K10 LED effects lights, and Solaris Flare LED strobes. Followspotting power was provided by Robert Juliat Lancelots.

Discussing his choice of lighting fixtures, Peter Barnes said: “I opted for Clay Paky Sharpys because they have a bright, punchy beam which would show up against the high quantity of LED screen, the Mythos is an equally powerful light and can be used to give wider beam effects; whilst the VL3500 gave a bright overall wash, enabling us to see the artists and dancers against the strong backlight from the screens. I used the Clay Paky K10s to give some backwash and effects. The Ayrton Magic Blades and Magic Panels also gave wonderful effects to play about with.”

The main video element of the tour was made up of ROE Visual MC-7H 7.5mm LED tiles, with a central 6 x 4.2 metre screen, flanked by four 1.2-metre-wide vertical strips stepping out and forwards from each side. Above this, and fanning out over the stage were a combination of ROE S18 600mm and 1200mm 9mm LED strips. This layout of screen is designed to open up the stage—focussing the audience’s attention towards the central point, as well as giving a false sense of perspective and making the stage look bigger than it actually is. The LED screen content was driven by a Brompton Technology Tessem/Revolution M2 LED processor, and Catalyst V5 XL media server. In addition to the LED walls, there were two projection screens either side of the stage, playing pre-recorded content and IMAG footage of the show. Sony HXC-100 XL cameras captured footage on the night, and was played back through Barco HDX-W20 20K projectors.

Peter Barnes was joined by Lighting Operator Dom Crookes, who has worked with Peter on numerous tours, including Ronan Keating and The Vamps. Dom said: “Creative Director, Beth Honan worked closely with Pete to decide on the style of lighting for each song, but generally we were going for big, bold looks which replicated what people expected to see from the TV show. I used a Hog 4 Full Boar to program and operate the lighting—which was all pre-programmed and run off of timecode, triggered by the audio track of each song.”

MONSTA X’s I.M announces 2024 ‘Off The Beat’ world tour

South Korean singer I.M , a member of K-pop boyband MONSTA X , has announced his upcoming 2024 ‘Off The Beat’ world tour, featuring concerts in Asia, the US and Europe.

Today (April 22), I.M announced his massive 2024 ‘Off The Beat’ world tour, which will feature 19 concerts from May to September this year. The tour is named after the singer’s latest mini-album , which same out earlier this month.

The MONSTA X member will kick-off his tour this May with a two-date concert in Seoul, South Korea. Following a one-month break, the singer will bring his tour to Europe from late-July to early-August, with performances in London, Paris, Berlin and more.

Across the rest of August, I.M will tour North American. The concert will feature seven dates in the US, including states such as New York, California and Texas, plus two shows in Canada. In September 2024, the K-pop idol will head to Asia, with three East Asian dates alongside a sole Southeast Asian performance.

Ian Wright believes Arsenal’s Champions League elimination at the hands of Bayern Munich showed that Mikel Arteta is missing an ‘X-factor’ player in the mold of Kevin De Bruyne.

After an absorbing 2-2 draw in north London , Joshua Kimmich’s powerful 63rd-minute header proved decisive in Wednesday’s quarter-final second leg, with Arsenal left frustrated by a well organised and obstinate Bayern team at the Allianz Arena.

Gabriel Martinelli spurned the best opportunity as the Gunners dominated for large periods of the first half, but the visitors could not make the pressure count in what has been a painful week for the club.

The disappointment came just three days after Arsenal were rocked in a 2-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa in the Premier League and Arteta’s men must shake themselves off and regroup if they are to get their title push back on track away to Wolves this weekend.

While Wright has sung Martin Odegaard’s praises throughout the campaign, he believes the Arsenal captain could be benefitted by the addition of a flair player with killer instinct in the summer.

‘A player like Vitinha at Paris Saint-Germain. You know when you watch a team and you think: “You know something? He might do something”,’ the legendary ex-Arsenal striker said on the Wrighty’s House podcast in aftermath of Bayern’s win.

‘The first half [Odegaard produced] against Villa was one of the best performances I’ve seen from him for a long time and he’s been playing very well this season.

‘I’m talking about someone with that bit of X-factor that we need. We’ve got a load of good players.’

Wright added: ‘X-factor like out of the blue, bam, he’ll do something like that. We need that, we need to find that, man, because that’s what wins these games as well.

‘If people ain’t got the mindset to know that: “Listen, this is a half-chance game for me”…

‘I played against Des Walker, I played against Manchester United, I know I’m not getting a lot of chances so I’m going to focus on the one half chance. That’s the mentality that’s got to come.’

Wright will continue to be patient with Mikel Arteta’s squad as they gain experience and learn from their mistakes.

‘Ben White today, I know he must be absolutely knackered, gone,’ he went on.

‘For him to be going across to close down a guy with that much time, just in and around the box to cross it into a very dangerous area, where another load of our players were on their heels, it’s what we’ve got to learn.

‘That’s why I will have patience with this team because they still have to learn those things. Then you do need, I don’t care what anyone says, someone with X-factor, someone with a Kevin De Bruyne vibe, they make something happen.’

Surprised by the level of ‘negativity’ within Arsenal’s fanbase in the wake of their defeat to Aston Villa, Wright called on supporters to ‘shake it off’ ahead of the side’s Premier League run-in.

‘As sad as it is to see, some of the negativity off of the Villa was really surprising,’ Wright continued.

‘It worries me because I feel that patience is needed and, like Mikel Arteta said, it’s taken some teams six or seven years to get that and we’ve done it in two and we’re still progressing and we’re still not over in the season.

‘We’ve just had a couple of results that have caught us. We were looking the other way, turned the corner and the frying pan has hit us.

‘That is what has happened and we’ve just got to shake it off and keep going now, instead of everybody getting despondent because of what’s going on.’
