Going to Boston Calling this weekend? Here's the schedule and everything you need to know about the 2024 festival
By Riley Rourke
Updated on: May 24, 2024 / 6:26 PM EDT / CBS Boston
BOSTON - It's Boston Calling weekend. From the lineup, to parking, to the bag policy, here is everything you need to know about the three-day festival at the Harvard Athletic Complex.
Boston Calling 2024
Boston Calling 2024 is set to ring in summertime on Memorial Day weekend. Starting Friday at 1 p.m., head to the Harvard Athletic Complex to watch all the hottest artists and some up-and-coming musicians.
The festival runs from 1 p.m. until 11 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Over two dozen local food vendors will be present, as will plenty of sponsored stalls from places like Dunkin'. The iconic Ferris wheel will also return this year for all your photo needs.
Make sure you dress accordingly for the weather . The festival recommends that people bring a hat and sunglasses with them.
Are there any tickets left?
There are one-day tickets left for Friday and Saturday, but Sunday is sold out. One-day tickets for general admission start at $196.
But don't worry if you really want to see Sunday's lineup, there are still three-day passes available! Three-day passes start at $392 for general admission.
Friday lineup
Ed Sheeran will be headlining on Friday at the Green Stage. Renée Rapp, who may or may not hate Boston , will also be on the Green Stage earlier in the day. You'll have to make some serious decisions later on because Leon Bridges and Young The Giant have a significant overlap in their sets.
But make sure you check out The Wolff Sisters from Canton on the Orange Stage just before 3 p.m.
Saturday lineup
Boston Calling brings country music to the city on Saturday. Headliner Tyler Childers will perform on the Green Stage at 9 p.m. Before Childers, listen to plenty of other artists, like Phish's Trey Anastasio & Classic Tab and Jessie Murph.
Check out Bad Rabbits on the Happy Valley Red Stage at 3 p.m. as they make their return to Boston Calling 13 years later.
Sunday lineup
Sunday, the only sold-out day, is clearly in demand for festival lovers. Headliner The Killers will take the Green Stage on the final day at 9:10 p.m.
Make sure you have your best shoes on because there are plenty of quick turnarounds on Sunday if you want to catch the most popular artists. New pop sensation Chappell Roan will play on the Green Stage at 4:05 p.m. before Megan Thee Stallion takes it over at 6:25 p.m. But make sure you hustle after Megan's performance to Hozier at the Happy Valley Red Stage at 7:35 p.m.
If you missed out on tickets to see The Killers, they will perform a special show at Paradise Rock Club on Saturday night.
Boston Calling address and parking
Whether you are taking an Uber or a friend is dropping you off, it's important you know where to go to get into the festival. The official address for Boston Calling is 65 N Harvard St, Allston, MA 02134.
As for parking, there are no official parking lots nearby, and festival officials recommend that people take the MBTA Red Line to Harvard Square and walk ten minutes from there.
All bags will be checked by security upon entry. There are several items you should not bring in your bags, such as weapons, aerosol containers, smoking products, including vape pens, outside food, and alcohol. You are able to bring in your own water bottle, but it must be empty upon arrival.
All small clutches and fanny packs that are 6" x 9" or smaller are allowed in. They do not need to be clear, but they must only have one pocket.
Anything larger than 6" x 9" has to be smaller than 12" x 6" x 12", and it must be clear.
You are allowed to bring in a hydration pack, but it must only have two pockets, and it cannot have any liquid in it when you enter the festival.
For a full list of things, you cannot bring into the festival go to Boston Calling's website.
How many people are attending?
The festival is expected to have around 40,000 people attending throughout the weekend!

A fans’ guide to Boston Calling: Performance times, food lineup, and everything you need to know
Memorial Day weekend is almost here, which means it’s time for another edition of Boston Calling . Since 2013, the annual festivities have become a fan-favorite event for music lovers, featuring lineups of local and international talent, plus plenty of food and drink options to keep festivalgoers fueled up. If you’re planning to check out this year’s three-day fest, prepare with our fan’s guide to everything you need to know about Boston Calling 2024.
What’s new this year?
Aside from a fresh lineup of stars and a slew of food vendors making their Boston Calling debut (more on both below), there isn’t a ton of new stuff at this year’s festival. Fans can expect the return of the Ferris wheel, four stages of performers, and the usual dedicated spots for food, drinks, restrooms, and more. New this year for platinum ticket holders, however, is a special front-row viewing area added within the VIP section of the Green Stage, offering even closer views of the performances.
Who’s performing each day of the festival?

Day two of Boston Calling commences with Lowell artist Brittany Tsewole’s Senseless Optimism at 1:45 p.m. on the Red Stage. Meanwhile, Boston band Bad Rabbits, who opened the first Boston Calling back in 2013, make their return to the festival with a performance on the Red Stage at 3 p.m.
Other highlights from Saturday include Roxbury rapper Cakeswagg on the Orange Stage at 4:05 p.m., English singer-songwriter Frank Turner and his band the Sleeping Souls on the Red Stage at 4:55 p.m., followed by Phish frontman Trey Anastasio and his band Classic TAB on the Red Stage at 7:15 p.m. Country fans are in for a treat on Saturday night, as Grammy-nominated “Whitehouse Road” singer Tyler Childers headlines day two with a performance on the Green Stage at 9 p.m.

Yes! Tickets to Boston Calling 2024 are still available at bostoncalling.com/tickets . One-day general admission tickets are $196, but are sold out for Sunday, while three-day general admission passes are still available for $392. Single-day and three-day GA+, VIP, and platinum tickets are also available. Attendees who already purchased their tickets in advance should have received their wristbands in the mail. Guests who haven’t can go to the box office onsite to pick up replacement wristbands.
What’s available to eat and drink?
The food and drink lineup at Boston Calling will feature a few newcomers, plus plenty of familiar returning vendors. Stillwater chef and “Chopped” champion Sarah Wade brings a mac and cheese feast to the fest with the MacBar. Fellow festival newbie Ricen will have an offering of Thai dishes on hand, while Shaking Crab will have Cajun- and New England-inspired seafood fare. All three vendors will be available at the DoorDash Food Village, which also includes bites by Blackbird Doughnuts and Sally’s Sandwiches, Dumpling Daughter, El Jefe’s Taqueria, Flour, and Lily P’s Fried Chicken.
Returning vendors that can be found in the festival’s main field area include Chicken & Rice Guys, Jaju Pierogi, Naco Taco, Roxy’s Grilled Cheese, the Smoke Shop BBQ, Tasty Burger, and more. For guests looking for vegetarian and vegan options, try a bite at the Chubby Chickpea, Zinneken’s, Love Art Sushi, Moyzilla, Ricebur, Flatbread Company, and FoMu.
As for adult beverages, guests 21 and older can enjoy libations from Samuel Adams, Miller Lite, Heineken, Truly, Josh Cellars, and more. GA+, VIP, and platinum ticket holders will also have access to exclusive bar areas with a special lineup of craft cocktails.
Boston Calling platinum ticket holders will also receive gourmet food experiences each day of the festival, kicking off on Friday with bites by James Beard Award-winning chef Ken Oringer of Uni, Toro, Coppa, and most recently, Faccia a Faccia. On Saturday, Will Gilson of Puritan & Co. takes the helm, while Sunday features bites by Joanne Chang, the James Beard Award-winning chef behind Myers + Chang and Flour.
What can I bring? What should I leave at home?
The festival has a full bag policy, meaning all bags will be searched before entry. Fans are allowed to bring small clutch purses and fanny packs that are 6 inches by 9 inches or smaller; they don’t have to be transparent and can have more than one pocket. However, all other bags that are larger than 6 inches by 9 inches must not exceed 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches and must be transparent.
Attendees are also allowed to bring hydration packs that don’t need to be clear but cannot have more than two pockets, and they must be emptied of all liquids prior to entry. Reusable bottles are permitted as well, but must be emptied before entering the festival. Water stations will be available onsite to refill bottles and hydration packs.
Additionally, guests are allowed to bring personal-size hand sanitizer, non-aerosol containers of sunscreen that are 3.4 ounces or less, and cameras, although detachable lenses and accessories like tripods, GoPro mounts, selfie sticks, and similar items won’t be allowed.
For guests who need to bring their prescription medication with them to the festival, they must show the medical staff at the entrance gates the pharmacy-labeled container that includes the patient’s name, dosage, and other information. Visitors will only be allowed to bring enough of the prescribed medication for that day only. Over-the-counter medication must be checked out by the medical staff at the entrances as well.
Other prohibited items include: coolers; weapons, fireworks, and explosives of any kind; professional video, camera, and audio recording equipment; drones; hammocks; baby strollers; Frisbees; chairs; binoculars; blankets, sheets, and towels; inflatables; umbrellas; spiked jewelry and large chains; glass containers; carts; tents or any shaded structures; and illegal or illicit substances.
Outside food and beverages are also prohibited, as are pets (except for service animals), plus personal transportation items like skateboards, scooters, and bicycles. Free bicycle parking will be available near the entrance.
Boston Calling is also a completely cashless festival, so leave the Benjamins at home. Guests are encouraged to register their wristbands online to sync a payment method, enabling them to pay with just a tap of the wrist. Lockers with charging stations will be available for rent
How do I get there?
Another belonging you should leave at home: your car. There will be no parking available onsite or on the street in the surrounding area (expect strict ticketing and towing of vehicles).
Instead, attendees are encouraged to walk or take the T, with the Red Line station at Harvard Square located just a short walk from the festival’s main entrance at 65 N. Harvard St. at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston. Festivalgoers can also take the bus, with both the 66 and 86 routes stopping at Harvard Stadium. Commuter rail riders can take the Worcester line to the Boston Landing Station, located a little more than a mile from the venue.
Fans opting to use a rideshare app can get dropped off near the main entrance at Harvard Stadium, with gates opening at 1 p.m. each day. However, at the end of each night, attendees using a rideshare app to get home should follow signs to the designated rideshare pickup lot.
Can I bring my kids?
Music lovers of all ages are welcome at Boston Calling, and children under 10 can even attend free without a wristband. When you and the little ones are tuckered out from dancing, relax with a ride on the Ferris wheel located near the Blue Stage for epic views of the festival. Proceeds from the Ferris wheel rides will benefit Music Drives Us, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting school music programs.
What’s the weather going to be like?
Luckily, it sounds like “it should be a fairly nice weekend,” with temperatures “typical for this time of year,” according to the Globe’s Dave Epstein.
What freebies and giveaways should I look out for?
It’s always great to score free swag or other freebies at festivals, and there’ll be plenty to check out at Boston Calling this year. Head to the House of Dunkin’ for free iced coffee, munchkins, plus additional activities and giveaways. Meanwhile, fans who have the Jersey Mike’s app on their phone can enter the Sub Above Club area, featuring free subs and a performance by a surprise guest.
Attendees who are 21 and older can check out the Miller Lite area at the festival’s Bar 75, featuring complimentary Wi-Fi and charging stations, plus games like cornhole, pop-a-shot, and more. Additionally, the canned water company Liquid Death has a club set up where guests are invited to try a complimentary beverage, get airbrushed tattoos, and have their horoscopes read.
Are there any after-parties?
On Friday night, Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls will play an after-party show at Big Night Live beginning at 10 p.m. The Killers will play a pop-up show at the Paradise Saturday, ahead of their headlining set at Boston Calling on Sunday.
Anything else I should know?
Safety : Boston Calling has a zero-tolerance policy against harassment. According to the festival’s website, organizers “will not tolerate any harassment based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, body size, appearance, age or national origin.” Should a festivalgoer feel threatened, harassed, or unsafe in any way, they are asked to report the incident immediately to a staff member.
Accessibility: The festival will have an ADA accessibility center onsite, located to the right of the welcome arches. Staff members there can help answer questions as well as request wristbands that allow entry to the accessibility viewing areas or the deaf/hard-of-hearing areas. The accessibility center can also provide outlets to recharge mobility devices, as well as assisted-listening devices for those who need them. Guests with disabilities can also enter the festival via designated lanes. Festivalgoers can request ASL interpreters for specific performances by e-mailing [email protected] . The Beach Boys are about to have a “Full House” at every concert after announcing this very special tour guest.
John Stamos is set to hit the road with the Beach Boys for 16 shows during their “Endless Summer Gold” tour, which began on Feb. 21 in Honolulu and will wrap up on Sept. 23 in Nashville .
Not every city will get a John Stamos appearance, but thankfully for us, New Jersey is one of the lucky ones.
Stamos and the Beach Boys will perform at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel on June 1 .
This is not the first time the ‘90s icon has hit the live stage with the band. Stamos has appeared on multiple tours with the California group, including an appearance at Stagecoach Music Festival alongside the Beach Boys last month.
The Beach Boys also will perform at Barefoot Country Music Fest in Wildwood, N.J. on June 22 .
This summer tour is set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their album “Endless Summer,” which they released in 1974.
Tickets are currently available to the public to purchase on sites, such as Vivid Seats , StubHub , TicketCity , SeatGeek and Ticketmaster .
The cheapest ticket we could find for their New Jersey show, before fees, is $30 on Vivid Seats .
First-time Vivid Seats users can save $20 on ticket orders over $200 by entering promo code NJ20 at checkout.

Here's Who's Performing At The 2024 ESSENCE Festival of Culture
The ESSENCE Festival of Culture is celebrating 30 years of Black joy, vibrant music, and sharing in the rich culture of New Orleans.
Though scores of revelers join us every year for fun and community, everyone knows the real show begins when night falls and the lights of the Caesars Superdome shine brightly on the biggest stars in music.
From legacy acts that shaped our childhoods and still impact us in the present day, to up-and-coming musical powerhouses, ESSENCE Festival of Culture’s 30th Birthday concerts promise to be a celebration of where we’ve been, where we’re going, and exactly where we are right now.
Take a look at the acts helping us celebrate three decades of magic below:
We’re serious about our 30th! To help us ring it in right, Usher will hit the stage with a special one-night-only performance that celebrates a milestone of his own – the 20th anniversary of his iconic genre-defining classic, Confessions .
The man who brought the world together in one of its most uncertain times now brings music in all forms together in one fire show.
America’s DJ returns to the ESSENCE Festival of Culture stage with special edition of Club Quarantine to celebrate our 30th, with a little help from his friends Method Man, Sheila E., Big Boi, Donell Jones, Tweet, Machel Montano, Lloyd and more surprise guests…
The Roots return to the festival main stage, bringing with them Ari Lennox, Mickey Guyton and special guest, T. Pain for a jam session unlike anything you’ve ever seen.
Put that on our Mama! The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter whose words long preceded the vocals and choreography millions have come to love joins us on the mainstage to showcase exactly why her name rings bells.
Put your hands where our eyes can see and put them together for the microphone destroyer, Busta Rhymes. The Hip-Hop innovator brings his signature flow to the Caesars Superdome for a night of music that will have the whole stadium exclaiming “Woo-hah!!”
You won’t have to be in the DMs telling Tariounna “Tank” Ball she’s pretty…you can see her face-to-face at ESSENCE Festival of Culture this year as New Orlean natives Tank & The Bangas bring their unique funk fusion magic to the mainstage.
Joined on stage with special guests & fellow New Orleanians Teedra Moses, HaSizzle, and Dawn Richard, this one is sure to be a NOLA night to remember.
Powerhouses on their own but a force to be reconed with when they link up, Tyrese, Ginuwine, and Tank will hit the stage as TGT and the mics will be ON as they bring their individual and group catalogue of hits to the main stage.
Gracing the ESSENCE Festival of Culture stage with her presence once again after a killer 2022 performance, Miss Jackson (if you’re nasty) brings her Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-qualifying catalog to our big birthday celebration
For the love of R&B, none other than the voice of a generation Charlie Wilson will be lighting up our stage at our 30th celebration of ESSENCE Fest with a show that’s sure to be “Outstanding.”
Celebrating 30 years in the game, it’s only right we bring Sisters with Voices (better known as SWV) to the stage to flaunt their vocals and timeless style on the main stage.
It’s the return of the all-white party! One of the inventors of grown folks music, Frankie Beverly will grace the ESSENCE Festival stage one last time as he stops by New Orleans to celebrate our 30th during his farewell tour.
Stick around for a special tribute to the legendary soul singer and a passing of the torch, curated by Grammy award-winning producer & songwriter, Bryan-Michael Cox!
Put some respect on his name! Celebrating a 30th milestone of his own, 30 years of Cash Money Records, Birdman and a bevy of surprise guests will take the stage to bring the raw classic New Orleans Hip-Hop sound to the ESSENCE Festival stage. We couldn’t ask for a better Birthday gift!
The Nigerian singer & songwriter will grace the stage with a performance of her international smash hits. What better way to celebrate our 30th than with her sultry voice and hypnotic moves?
The R&B singer brings his special brand of sexy soul to the ESSENCE Festival of Culture stage once again to help mark the momentous occasion.
The ESSENCE Festival of Culture™ presented by Coca-Cola® will take place July 4-7. For more information and updates on the festival, visit our website and follow us on social media @ESSENCEFest on X , Facebook , and Instagram .

The Black Keys Quietly Cancel International Players Tour 2024
The Black Keys have quietly canceled their upcoming International Players Tour, which was scheduled to bring them to arenas throughout North America.
The tour, announced in early April, was scheduled to kick off in September, with dates set for New York City’s Madison Square Garden and Los Angeles’ Kia Forum. The 31-date trek would have brought them across North America, with stops planned in Seattle, Boston and Milwaukee before concluding at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena on Nov. 12. All dates have been marked as canceled on Ticketmaster’s website.
On the Black Keys’ website, tour dates have been scrubbed with the exception of a sole performance still scheduled for July 6 at NASCAR’s Chicago Street Race.
Management and publicity for the Black Keys did not respond to Variety ‘s requests for comment.
After news broke on Saturday that the tour had been canceled, the group posted on Instagram explaining that they had to reconfigure their tour to bring a similarly “exciting, intimate experience” for fans and that tickets for the original trek would be refunded in full.
“The band wants to assure everyone that Dan & Patrick are alive and well,” reads the caption. “Following the recent run of shows in the UK & Europe, including stops at iconic venues like Brixton Academy and the Zenith in Paris, we have decided to make some changes to the North American leg of the International Players Tour that will enable us to offer a similarly exciting, intimate experience for both fans and the band, and will be announcing a revised set of dates shortly.
Everyone who had purchased tickets and/or VIP to the initial tour dates will be fully refunded – and when the new plans are announced, will be the first to be able to buy tickets. Thank you for your understanding and apologies for the surprise change… We're pretty sure everyone is going to be excited when you see what we have in mind though, and look forward to seeing everyone soon.”
The Black Keys, which consists of Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach, were set to kick off the tour in support of their most recent album “Ohio Players,” which released in April. On Wednesday, the pair appeared on NBC’s “The Voice,” where they performed “Beautiful People (Stay High).”
The band also recently debuted the documentary “This Is a Film About the Black Keys,” which had its world premiere at SXSW last month. The film explored the historical tensions between the bandmates as well as what united them. "We've figured each other out, for the most part,” said Auerbach in the doc. “We're just two very opinionated, hard-headed people, trapped for eternity together."

The Black Keys Cancel Upcoming North American Leg of International Players Tour
- By Daniel Kreps
Daniel Kreps
The Black Keys have canceled the upcoming North American leg of their International Players Tour , with dates for the jaunt abruptly erased without explanation from the band’s social media pages and official website.
On Friday, fans noticed that the Ticketmaster listing for the International Players Tour’s North American arena shows — which was set to begin September 17 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and run through November 12 in Detroit — listed all of the shows as canceled.
Venues’ individual listings for the concerts — including a September 18 gig at Austin’s Moody Center and an October 30 show at New York’s Madison Square Garden — also updated the pages to acknowledge that the shows had been canceled and that fans would automatically receive refunds. “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel this event,” the Moody Center’s listing noted.
The duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, who just completed a European leg in support of their new album Ohio Players , have not issued a statement regarding the cancelations. A rep for the band did not respond to Rolling Stone ’s request for comment at press time.

“Following the recent run of shows in the UK & Europe, including stops at iconic venues like Brixton Academy and the Zenith in Paris, we have decided to make some changes to the North American leg of the International Players Tour that will enable us to offer a similarly exciting, intimate experience for both fans and the band, and will be announcing a revised set of dates shortly,” the band wrote on social media.
