A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE, WHERE IT ALL HAPPENED

Vividly recount the history of jfk's assassination in detail while winding through dallas on a historical tour..

From Dallas, Texas, the flash apparently official, President Kennedy died at 1 p.m. Central Standard Time, 2 o’clock Eastern Standard Time, some 38 minutes ago. — WALTER CRONKITE, CBS NEWS ANCHOR (FROM HIS NOV. 22, 1963 BROADCAST)

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED?

November 22, 1963.

The assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States, on November 22, 1963, remains one of the defining events of the 20th century.

The shooting in Dallas, Texas, before thousands of onlookers was also captured by TV cameras and in home movies, yet in the minds of many, much about what happened that day remains shrouded in mystery.

President Kennedy's alleged killer, Lee Harvey Oswald, was himself shot and killed as cameras rolled just two days later.

Why Oswald shot Kennedy and wounded Texas governor John Connally, and whether he acted alone or was part of a wider conspiracy, has been the subject of official inquiries and countless films, books, and newspaper and magazine articles over the past 50 years.

The internet has also become fertile ground for speculation and allegations of involvement by the mafia, the Russians, the Cubans and even vice-president Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy.

The Warren Commission, which spent nearly a year carefully studying the assassination, agreed.

Scientific acoustical evidence establishes a high probability that two gunmen fired at President John F. Kennedy. Other scientific evidence does not preclude the possibility of two gunmen firing at the President. Scientific evidence negates some specific conspiracy allegations.

The committee believes, on the basis of the evidence available to it, that President John F. Kennedy was probably assassinated as a result of a conspiracy. The committee is unable to identify the other gunman or the extent of the conspiracy.

Since the president's assassination, Lee Harvey Oswald has remained the enigmatic figure at the center of the Kennedy assassination. Was he a lone gunman?

Winding thru the WEST END, following the killer, backtracking the events, retracing history.

We follow the trail of events that change American history leading to the president's shooting and the aftermath of the assassination.

THE JFK MEMORIAL

We start our journey at the JFK Memorial, designed by Phillip Johnson, a Kennedy family friend, the stark and simple monument to the late president symbolizes the freedom of Kennedy's spirit.

DEALEY PLAZA

The site includes the former Texas School Book Depository and the Grassy Knowll, two of the sights forever associated with the presidency assassination and the endless conspiracy theories that followed.

THE GRASSY KNOLL

Conspiracy theorists for years have questioned the findings of investigators who concluded that Kennedy was felled by shots from a lone gunman, Lee Harvey Oswald. Was the killer shots fired from the legendary grassy knoll?

Xs ON ELM STREET

No one could have predicted that this particular road would host his final moments, least of all him or his wife Jackie Kennedy, as their motorcade rode jubilantly before crowds of adoring supporters.

DALLAS #1 JFK TOUR

What makes us different.

Our tours are created based on the idea: If we go on a JFK Tour, what kind of experience would we like to have, whether we take a walking or a vehicle-operated tour? Some local tour operators restrict their tours to two blocks of Dealey Plaza, operate cramped buses, some with prerecorded content, or offer "express JFK tours" (do not ask us, we do not know what that is). We avoid all those shortcuts and many others, all our tours are private, with live commentary covering the JFK assassination and the aftermath of the assassination. Our tour guides are incredible storytellers and subject matter experts. We operate a tour that we are proud of and would love for you to join us! If you are loking for the BEST JFK EXPERIENCE, you are in the rigth place!

WHY ARE ALL OUR TOURS PRIVATE?

- We want to make sure that you get exactly what you want out of your JFK experience. There’s no room for mistakes or disappointments. It's just you and your group. Our excursions are led by certified professional tour guides following a well-crafted and balanced program.

CAN YOU ACOMMODATE LESS THAN 6 GUESTS?

- Yes, we can accommodate up to six guests; however, due to the nature of the tour and the cost of a certified professional tour guide, we will have a minimum charge if you have fewer than six guests. Walking tour: $400, vehicle-operated excursion: $750. We recommend our self-guided tour for small groups.

WHAT TIME CAN WE DO THE TOUR?

- We can start the tour anytime you request, based on our availability. We will coordinate all the logistics – from transportation to attraction tickets. Whether it is a visit to the Sixth Floor Museum or lunch before or after the tour, we can customize the program to fit your needs.

Do you offer roundtrip transportation?

- If you are booking a vehicle-operated experience we will pick you up/ drop you off anywhere in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. If you are booking a walking tour we will meet you and your guests at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza: 646 Main St, Dallas, TX 75202

Frequent Asked Questions

Stories and Conspiracies of the assassination where it all happened.

ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

Hello there, welcome to the JFK Discovery Tour, Dallas' most popular JFK experience. My name is Gary. I'm a historian and a professional guide specializing in Kennedy's life and legacy. I've lived in Dallas for most of my life. I truly love the city, its architecture, its people, and most of all, its history.

There have been hundreds of thousands of news articles and hundreds of books written on the assassination, the people involved, and the aftermath of the events; movies, TV series, and documentaries, but none of those are comparable to experiencing the events where they took place.

The amount of information available on the president's murder is staggering, that is, without taking into account the endless number of conspiracy theories (by the way, we cover a couple during our program) about who did what, and which bullet went where. We could talk about the events on November 22nd, 1963 for weeks, but we want to make this tour interesting, enjoyable, and entertaining, so we cover all the important information in an hour.

There is little to read, the tour is fully narrated, nothing to download and no special equipment; you only need your phone and a pair of headphones to listen to the story and immerse yourself in the experience.

We explore the facts and recount the incredible coincidences and timing that culminated in the event that shocked the world. We offer two versions of the tour, a walking excursion (1 hour long, we walk about 5 blocks around Dealey Plaza and the West End), and a bus-operated version (two hours long). Both tours start at the JFK Memorial Plaza located at West End Historic District and include the presidential motorcade route, Dealey Plaza, the Texas School Depository and the Grassy Knoll. The second half of the bus tour will take us to the Oak Cliff neighborhood where we will visit the Oswald Rooming House, J. D. Tippit's assassination site, the Neely House and the Texas Theater.

Book The Tour

We take you through the events of the day from a perspective not found on other tours. Why was JFK even in Dallas that day and why was that route for the motorcade chosen? We lay out the incredible coincidences and timing that culminated in a national tragedy that is as poignant today as it was in 1963.

We offer three options for this experience: self-guided, walking, and vehicle-operated tours. Each covers the same storyline. A Certified Professional Tour Guide leads the walking and vehicle-operated tours, while the self-guided tour is created and recorded by our senior Certified Professional Tour Guide. The vehicle-operated excursions include round-trip transportation from around Dallas; the vehicle (Sprinter, Transit, Minibus, Coach) is determined by the number of guests in your group.

Jfk memorial plaza.

Dallas JFK Memorial

Dallas’ John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza was dedicated June 24, 1970. In the years since, it has become an integral part of the city’s urban landscape and cultural heritage. It is located one block east of Dealey Plaza, between Main and Commerce streets, on land donated by Dallas County. Meeting location. We will meet our guests at the JFK Memorial, please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of the excursion.

Greyhound Bus Station

Dallas morning news headquarters.

The Dallas Morning News front page November 23rd 1963.

The Dallas Morning News' combative publisher Ted Dealey helped cement the Dallas reputation as a conservative hotbed. The newspaper under his leadership had a tremendous influence in the radical rigth political movement that engulfed Dallas in the sixties.

Dallas Police Headquarters, City Jail

Dallas Municipal Building where Jack Ruby shot Lee Harvey Oswald.

On November 24, Oswald was brought to the basement of the Dallas police headquarters on his way to a more secure county jail. A crowd of police and press with live television cameras rolling gathered to witness his departure. As Oswald came into the room, Jack Ruby emerged from the crowd and fatally wounded him with a single shot from a concealed .38 revolver.

Motorcade Route Through Dallas

Prior to the assassination, President John F. Kennedy, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, and Texas Governor John Connally ride through the streets of Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963. Included as an exhibit for the Warren Commission.

We will travel along the president’s motorcade route as the presidential limousine and security vehicles made their way down Main Street on its way to the Dallas Trade Mart.

Dealey Plaza / Grassy Knoll

View of Dealey Plaza, the plaza hass played a significant role in Dallas history.

Dealey Plaza is a significant part of Dallas history. The site marks the birthplace of Dallas, originally founded by John Neely Bryan in the 1840s. Almost a century later, as part of President Franklin Roosevelt’s Works Progress Administration, the familiar white concrete colonnades and triple underpass were constructed, creating a vehicular park to serve as gateway to the city. The project was spearheaded by civic leader George Bannerman Dealey. After G.B. Dealey died in 1946, a bronze statue to honor him was installed in the park that already bore his name.

6th Floor Museum

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza

One of Texas’ most visited historic sites, The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza chronicles the life, death and legacy of President John F. Kennedy.

Oswald Rooming House Museum

The house at 1026 N. Beckley Street in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas, Texas was the temporary residence of Lee Harvey Oswald at the time of the assassination of United States President John F. Kennedy. Oswald rented a room at this house for $8 a week, beginning October 14, 1963, under the name O.H. Lee.

Oswald didn't stay here long, but this house at 1026 N. Beckley figures prominently in the events of 11.22.63. Using the alias O.H. Lee, Oswald was renting a room in the back of this house at the time of the assassination. Just five weeks earlier, he had returned from a Quixotic bus trip to Mexico City where he dropped in on Soviet and Cuban consulates and demanded (apparently without success) entry to Cuba to assist the revolution. Exclusive Access to the Oswald Rooming House Museum is included in your tour

Site Of Officer J. D. Tippit's Assassination

Texas theatre.

The Texas Theatre is a movie theater and Dallas landmark located in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, Texas. It gained historical significance on November 22, 1963, as the location of Lee Harvey Oswald's arrest over the suspicion he was the killer of Dallas Police Officer J. D. Tippit.

Numerous witness accounts describe Oswald on the run after shooting Officer Tippit at the intersection of 10th Street and Patton Avenue. Taxi driver William Scoggins claimed Oswald, revolver in hand, muttered something along the lines of "Poor dumb cop" as he headed away from the site of the Tippit ambush on his way to the Texas Theater.

Bishop Arts District / Oswald Mural

The Members Only barbershop in Oak Cliff now features a black and white portrait of Oswald on the side of the building at West 7th Street and North Madison Ave.

On our way to Bishop Arts we will explore the events that took place after Oswald emerged from the Texas Theatre in handcuffs, with a shiner and claiming police abuse. We will examine Oswald ultimate murder, debate Jack Ruby role in the story, and touch on a few of the most popular conspiracy theories surrounding the president's assassination.

Neely House

This house at 214 W. Neely Street has seen better days, but it hasn't met the wrecking ball, yet. From March 2 to April 24, 1963, Oswald lived upstairs with Marina and baby daughter, June, paying $60 per month, plus utilities.

It was here in the backyard eight months before the assassination where Oswald persuaded Marina to snap three photos of him posing proudly – dressed in black, rifle in one hand, communist articles in the other, and a holstered handgun on his side.

dallas tour jfk

Dallas Center’s annual festival returns Friday and Saturday with a variety of family-friendly fun.

“The main thing with Fall Festival is its really family and kid-focused,” said Lezlie Ellerman, who helps organize the festival with DC Celebrations.

The festivities will kick off on Friday night in Mound Park with a DJ, lawn games, Ugly Cake Contest , Toby the Balloon Dude, Sparkle Hula Hoop Dance Party and more. Free hot dogs will be provided by Raccoon Valley Bank, followed by the Ohana Pedal Power Tractor Pull.

The Scott Amusements Carnival will open at 5 p.m. on Walnut Street. New this year, wristbands will be good from 5-8 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. or 5-8 p.m. on Saturday.

Ellerman encourages community members to purchase pre-sale tickets as all proceeds before 4 p.m. on Friday will go directly to DC Celebrations to help off-set the cost of the carnival. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased at Kids Korner, Korner Kone, Raccoon Valley Bank, Sugar Grove Goods, The Baker's Pantry and the library.

Saturday’s festivities will kick off with the Rotary Pancake Breakfast, 5k, 1k road races and a tot trot .

The Leonard Moss Memorial Parade will head down Walnut Street at 10 a.m. No registration is required and the parade will start lining up at 9:30 a.m. on Kellogg near the skate park.

A variety of activities will follow the parade, including a car, truck and motorcycle show, sand volleyball , bags and pickleball tournaments , kids games, an ice cream social and more.

The quilt show returns this year to the Methodist Church, sponsored by Mashe Modern.  Register online to have your quilt included in the show.

Several contests will be held throughout the day, including a pie eating contest sponsored by The Baker’s Pantry, Mr. Legs contest, parent calling and husband calling contests and a lip sync contest. A new contest this year is the Cat Council , which joins the DC Dog Mayor .

The evening will wrap up with live music by Four Shades of Gray, a free-will donation dinner, pie auction and fireworks.

Ellerman said pies are needed as the auction is one of the biggest fundraisers for DC Celebrations. Proceeds from the auction are split between DC Celebrations and the fire department. Pies can be dropped off Saturday morning at the front entrance of the Methodist Church.

“We’re looking for a record year. We had a record year last year, so we’re really pumped about raising some good money for that,” Ellerman said.

She encourages area residents to come check out the family-friendly activities on Friday and Saturday in Dallas Center.

“It’s exciting to see how we’ve grown and changed over the years with keeping the same small-town traditions that kids have grown to love and look forward to,” Ellerman said.

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza Announces Acquisition of NBC 5 Broadcasts of John F. Kennedy Assassination and Surrounding Events, Bringing Together World’s Only Archive of Footage Captured by Dallas Local News on Nov. 22, 1963

Date: August 19, 2024

NBC 5 Archive Includes Rarely Seen Footage Related to the Watershed Moment that Changed the Course of American History

Dallas, TX – August 13, 2024 – The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza – the only museum dedicated to the life, legacy, and assassination of President John F. Kennedy – the Museum has announced the acquisition of WBAP-TV (now KXAS-TV) footage from NBC 5. This archive, spanning from 1956-1983, documents John F. Kennedy’s visits to the Dallas area going back to 1956, the events of the weekend of the assassination, and the earliest assassination anniversaries, allowing scholars and the public to gain a greater understanding of how this chapter of history unfolded. The donation from NBC 5 ensures that local news broadcasts from the weekend of November 22, 1963, are represented in the Museum’s collection, which also contains assassination-related film and video from the other three local news stations broadcasting in Dallas in 1963: WFAA-TV (the ABC affiliate), KRLD-TV (then the CBS affiliate), and KTVT-TV (then an independent station).

“The Sixth Floor Museum is a vital resource for all those who are interested in the events and effects of November 22, 1963, and the Museum’s news footage collections are a powerful tool for understanding this history,” said The Sixth Floor Museum CEO Nicola Longford. “We are grateful for the efforts of Brian Hocker and the Museum’s late colleague Gary Mack for helping to build the Museum’s archive of footage captured by Dallas local news and to NBC 5 for its generous donation and partnership in the Museum’s endeavor to tell the story of a critical day in American history.”

The NBC 5 Archive includes 16mm film taken in Dealey Plaza during the immediate aftermath of the assassination by WBAP-TV photographer Jimmy Darnell, who was riding in a press vehicle in the Dallas motorcade approximately eight cars behind the presidential limousine. Additional footage captures the trial, appeal, and death of Jack Ruby; the Secret Service reenacting the assassination in Dealey Plaza; and numerous moments that contextualize the assassination within the larger history of Dallas County during this era, with appearances by influential figures including Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Jimmy Hoffa.

“NBC 5 is proud of our longstanding service to North Texas and our 40-plus year legacy of covering the most important news and events that impact our communities and people,” said Tony Canales, President and General Manager of NBC 5 / Telemundo 39 . “Donating the station’s archival footage of President Kennedy, his assassination and aftermath to The Sixth Floor Museum ensures that this firsthand documentation of a tragic day that changed our nation’s trajectory will remain accessible to scholars, researchers, and the general public seeking to learn more about this important event for generations to come.”

In total, the Museum holds over 220 hours of professional news footage – encompassing video, film and audio – capturing the immediate aftermath of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963, as well as related events that shed light on the historical context of the assassination. The Museum’s collection also includes a majority of the amateur home movie films most associated with the assassination event, including those taken by Abraham Zapruder, Charles L. Bronson, Robert E. Hughes, Elise Dorman, Orville Nix, Tina Towner, and Mark Bell. These holdings are complemented by over 120 hours of audio recordings from KRLD Radio, WFAA Radio and WBAP Radio.

The effort to digitize audio, video, and film from all four local news stations and share this footage on a new collections website is ongoing and will be completed later this year. View highlights from the NBC 5 Archive on the Museum’s website at www.jfk.org/nbc-5-archive .

Tracy Tutor Bought a House in Dallas: "New City, New Beginning"

The  Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles  agent also revealed the "most important element" of her new Texas home.

dallas tour jfk

Tracy Tutor  spent almost a year giving her home in Los Angeles  a "full-scale remodel"  (watch the finished result in the video above). Though the  Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles  agent has been busy working on the West Coast, she also has something exciting to share down south: a new home in Dallas.

How to Watch

Watch  Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles on Bravo Wednesdays at 9/8c and next day on  Peacock . Catch up on the Bravo App .

“Believe it or not, this is the first time I have lived alone,” Tracy, who shares teenage daughters  Scarlett and Juliet Maltas  with her ex-husband, Jason Maltas , told  PEOPLE   in an August 21 interview about her new property. “First it was roommates, then boyfriends, moving on to husband, then husband and two kids, more boyfriends , but always dogs. It is refreshing to come home to my space there and it’s exactly how I left it.”

Tracy celebrated the symbolism of starting over in a new space following the end of her more than three-year relationship with  Erik Anderson  in 2023. “New city, new beginning," she declared.

As for the interior design of the spacious abode, Tracy noted that she's “always about light and space” as well as incorporating artwork that's the “perfect amount of provocative and fun.” The realtor teamed up with  Samuel Lynne Galleries  to outfit her space with "special pieces" by David Yarrow, Lea Fisher, and Tyler Shields and also brought the interior together with help from  George Bass Stage & Design .

Tracy Tutor poses for promotional images for Season 13 of Million Dollar Listing LA.

“It was important for me to keep a neutral palette, so I could come home after a crazy day in Dallas and unwind,” she told the outlet, also revealing where she wanted to pay special attention in the home.

“The most important element for me is my bed — I value my sleep more than most,” she shared. “I thought I had hit the jackpot with my bed in Beverly Hills, but Hästens proved me wrong. It’s like a cloud.”

Moreover, in the spirit of being a “California girl at heart,” Tracy highlighted the importance of transferring indoor-outdoor living to Dallas. She made sure her patio was "treated like a room in and of itself" in collaboration with  Azzurro Living .

Is Tracy Tutor moving to Dallas?

Tracy purchased a property in Dallas mainly because of her business , but she also detailed other reasons for possibly settling down in the Lonestar State.

“Once arriving there, I immediately fell in love not just with the opportunity, but the people. Becoming a part-time resident there was easy for me,” she shared. “ After building a team of accomplished agents, it became apparent that I wasn’t just going to sell there, I wanted to be there.”

Will the move be a permanent one? For Tracy, it's all about the timing. “I have learned in life to never say never.”

Always the innovator, Bryson DeChambeau is pursuing golf’s impossible dream with LIV Golf

Despite leaving the pga tour for a liv tour that nearly no one watches, the smu product’s popularity is at an all-time high..

6:18 PM on Aug 22, 2024 CDT

2024 U.S. Open Champion and Crushers GC Captain Bryson DeChambeau hits the ball during media...

First, let’s get it on the record that when Bryson DeChambeau stopped by to play the 12th hole with our group at the immensely challenging Maridoe Golf Club on Thursday, all part of a preview for the LIV Golf Team Championship event coming next month, we used my drive.

Now if you want to nitpick and say we used my ball because DeChambeau tried to clear a water hazard more than 320 yards out (and did, in fact, clear it while hitting his ball into a high rough area) and that we simply settled for my 215-yard blast down the middle, well, that seems like a lot of unnecessary information.

We used my drive. End of story.

Did he sink our 18-foot birdie putt for us? Yes, he did. And when he teed off on the next hole, feeling he owed us one, did he outdrive me by 95 yards according to the cart GPS? Also true. But those are the things Bryson has been doing for some time now, launching golf balls into parts unknown, trying to beat the game not just with practice and repetition but with physics and, at one time, a huge weight gain in search of the ultimate power drive .

Bryson DeChambeau makes it look easy, sinking this 18-footer for birdie at today’s LIV Golf media event promoting the tour’s upcoming Team Championship at Maridoe. pic.twitter.com/KZc7MmRMis — Damon R. Marx (@DamonMarxDMN) August 22, 2024

“There was one night where I got on the scale at 241, looked in the mirror and said, “I don’t recognize you,’ ‘’ DeChambeau said.

When you look at him now, this year’s U.S. Open champion is a sculpted 218 pounds and still attempts drives — whether on the LIV tour or in major championships — others can’t quite fathom. In his quest to become the perfect golfer, he has achieved a different sort of impossible. Bryson DeChambeau left the PGA Tour for the controversial Saudi money-fueled land of LIV and increased his likability in the process.

While Phil Mickelson has lost countless fans and others have mostly disappeared from the mainstream landscape (LIV Golf, despite the presence of major champions, draws nearly invisible TV ratings), DeChambeau is more popular than ever. He was the people’s choice in Augusta when he was chasing Dallas’ Scottie Scheffler, and the crowds at Pinehurst loved it when his U.S. Open victory supplied the perfect SMU coda to the late Payne Stewart’s title there 25 years ago .

“That’s why I play the game,’’ DeChambeau said. “I love feeling that crowd. The energy is electric, and being able to feed off that only cements my position of trying to play the best golf I possibly can and to entertain as much as possible.’’

It wasn’t that way for him just a few years ago before departing the PGA Tour. DeChambeau seemed remote to fans and was something less than beloved by his peers. He acknowledged Thursday that his beef with Brooks Koepka at least began as something very real — “There was a complete disagreement, yes” — and that Koepka was not alone among his peers who didn’t “get” Bryson’s way of thinking.

”That’s one of the big reasons I started [doing videos on] YouTube. I wanted people to understand who I was, not just a science guy with some weird stuff I’m doing and not relatable at all,’’ he said. “People always talked, ‘Oh, this guy’s personality is weird’, and whatnot. They never took the time to understand who I was, right?

”And once people started to see over time, kind of who I am, it’s changed. And I think YouTube helped that a lot more.’’

He’s far from the first athlete to seek to control his own content but has been exceptional in that regard. In one video “challenge,” DeChambeau enthusiastically ripped open a box of junior clubs and then went out to play scratch golf with the starter set. “I filmed a couple videos, didn’t know how it was going to do, got a million views on one of them and it was a banger right off the bat. I took it as a massive opportunity, a bit of a leap of faith, and it developed into something special.‘’

That video success has enabled him to grow more comfortable with the golf crowds that are desperate to see him win or, barring that, at least launch the ball 350 yards in the air.

Sadly for LIV, DeChambeau’s appeal is almost the beginning and the end of what the upstart tour — likely to be merged or folded into the PGA sooner rather than later — has going for it. While the focus is said to be on a younger audience that gets its content online, you can’t help but notice that when Koepka and Jon Rahm battled in a playoff Sunday, LIV drew a TV audience of 165,000 viewers. Mickey Mouse Funhouse on the Disney Channel outperformed that streaming on a recent Saturday morning.

DeChambeau said that history is there to be made on the LIV tour, if it doesn’t run out of time. Regardless, where his peers have cashed in on LIV while sliding into golf’s witness protection program, DeChambeau has scaled a mountain others could not even envision. The physics expert is having the last laugh while putting smiles on the faces of golf fans around the world. Clearing 300-yard hazards is child’s play for a guy capable of pulling that trick.
