Boat ride on the River Aura

Would you like a boat ride on the River Aura? Taking an electric Låna boat on a river cruise is the perfect way to get to know Turku from its famous river, made even easier by our one of our guides. Join us on our journey.

The River Aura is the reason Turku was born, so it makes sense to see the city from where it all started. How many bridges do we pass under, and how high do the seven hills of Turku look from the water?

In addition to our guide there is room for seven people on the boat. The boat ride takes an hour, starting from the city centre going downriver and back.

On the journey to Turku the cruise passenger travels through a breathtakingly beautiful archipelago with some 20,000 islands and islets, one of the biggest in the world.

Smaller cruise ships berth next to the medieval Turku Castle, 3 km from the city center. Larger ships dock in the main port area, which is only slightly further away.

A free shuttle bus operates between the pier and the city center throughout the call stopping at Turku Castle both ways. The center is only three km from the port, and it can also be reached by foot through a scenic promenade along the riverbank.

The river Aura passes through the centre, and its banks are very popular, allowing for a pleasant stroll from, say, the national shrine of Finland, the Turku Cathedral, to the Turku Castle , which used to house Swedish Kings – or upstream to experience some countryside.

Nude cruise and a Taylor Swift cruise: 8 themed ships leaving Florida ports in 2024 and 2025

From swinging to Swifties, there's truly a themed cruise for everything nowadays.

Seasoned cruisers know you can take your travel up a level by boarding a themed cruise, exploring the seas with those with the same passions and interests as you.

Whether you adore the cheesy Christmas movies that come out every year or you're a hip-hop fanatic, here are some of the top-themed cruises sailing out of Florida over the next year.

Big Nude Boat

The " Big Nude Boat " cruise is an 11-day adventure set for 2025 on the Norwegian Pearl, departing from the Port of Miami on Feb. 3 and returns to the same port on Feb. 14 (just in time for Valentine's Day).

"Bare Necessities’ newest nude cruise is a private island double-dip with a brand new travel partner," the company wrote on its website .

The itinerary includes stops at the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, Dominica, Martinique and St. Lucia. Rates for an inside cabin start at $2,000 per person and go to up to $33,000 for a top room.

Guests are encouraged to park their bare behinds on towels provided on board in areas including the pool deck and the buffet area, according to the website.

"Passengers can easily follow our rule on nudist etiquette by always placing a towel down before sitting," it reads. "Remember to pack a swimsuit; not all excursions are clothing optional."

In My Cruise Era

The “ In My Cruise Era … ” is a  Taylor Swift-themed cruise  that is set to launch from Port of Miami on Oct. 21,

The cruise, on a Royal Caribbean ship, leaves for the Bahamas the day after Swift's final show of her three-day stop in Miami. According to the website, the cruise fare includes stateroom accommodations, dinner in the main dining room nightly as well as additional buffet and a la carte options around the ship. It also includes entertainment.

Halloween on the High Seas on the Disney Cruise Line

The Disney Cruise Line will offer its " Halloween on the High Seas " cruises in September and October. Patrons can choose from sailings ranging from 3-7 days, most of which travel to the Bahamas or the Caribbean islands. The Halloween-themed cruise is offered on four of the Disney cruise ships, including the Disney Magic, Disney Wish, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

While on board the Halloween on the High Seas cruise, AAA writes guests will enjoy magical, spooktacular entertainment every day, such as:

Hallmark Christmas Cruise

In case Halloween isn't your preferred holiday to spend on the seas, why not pretend you're in your own made-for-TV Christmas movie?

The Hallmark Channel, holiday season film factory, will host a Christmas Cruise that will embark on a four-night sailing on Nov. 5 from Miami. According to USA Today, passengers will be able to experience holiday cheer on the high seas, complete with cookie making, “carol-oke,” photo ops with network stars, and an exclusive movie premiere of one of the famed Countdown to Christmas films.

The Christmas cruise will take place aboard the Norwegian Gem Cruise Ship, a 965-foot Jewel-class ship.

The company announced that the cruise has already sold out, sharing to USA TODAY via email last year: "Christmas cheer filled every tier, and now the first ever Hallmark Channel Christmas Cruise is SOLD OUT."

Rock the Bells Cruise

Hip Hop Hooray! The Rock the Bells Cruise: A Hip-Hop Experience is a four-day jam session founded by LL Cool J back in 2023. After seeing major success last year, the cruise is returning for 2024.

MCs, DJs, and producers will lead nonstop parties and live performances on the Norwegian Gem from Nov. 13 through 17. The cruise leaves from Miami to Great Stirrup Cay and Nassau.

Some of the acts lined up for the cruise include Busta Rhymes, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Method Man & Redman, Scarface, Kid Capri and more.

Comic-Con: The Cruise

Get ready to join the CCU (Cruise Cinematic Universe). San Diego Comic-Con and Entertainment Cruise Productions have team up for Comic-Con: The Cruise . It will run from Feb. 5 through 9 of 2025.

Sailing on Royal Caribbean's  Serenade of the Seas  from Tampa to Cozumel, participants will interact with Comic-Con icons and attend nonstop activities on board, such as cosplay events, trivia, parties and more

Star Trek - The Cruise

Norwegian: Ultimate Disco Cruise

Norwegian Cruise Line Ultimate Disco Cruise leaves from Miami on Feb. 19 through 24, 2025. During this groovy cruise, you will travel aboard the Norwegian Pearl to ports of call such as Cozumel and Costa Maya. Awhile attending the hottest disco parties along the high seas.

Cincinnati Tiki Boat is setting sail along the Ohio River starting Memorial Day weekend.

The two-hour boat tour sails along the Ohio River and can fit up to 16 people.

Riders can bring their own food and drinks. Music is provided through a Bluetooth speaker aboard the boat.

The bar features a wraparound bar counter with spaces to put drinks and snacks.

Tom Cruise showed off his chiseled physique while enjoying some much-needed downtime at Mallorca’s Formentor Beach in Spain over the weekend.

Cruise, 61, appeared to be in great spirits as he took a dip in the water alongside filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu, whom he is collaborating with on an upcoming project.

The “Mission: Impossible 8” star rocked a pair of navy swim trunks while putting his enviable abs on full display.

Earlier in the day, Cruise was spotted wearing a gray V-neck, a tan fedora and chunky white sneakers as he boarded a small boat with Iñarritu.

The duo looked deep in conversation as they took the dinghy out to a massive sailboat for the day.

The pair are in the early stages of creating the Mexican-born director’s first English-language film since his 2015 hit, “The Revenant.”

While the film will be produced and directed by Iñarritu, Cruise will play the lead role. However, the plot details have been kept under wraps.

Meanwhile, Cruise has been busy filming the new “Mission: Impossible” across Europe — including in the United Kingdom and Norway.

The actor flocked to the slightly warmer destination of Mallorca while the cast and crew are on a break from shooting.

While it’s unclear when Cruise will be heading back up north to resume filming, he likely won’t be seeing ex-girlfriend Elsina Khayrova while in town.

Earlier this year, sources told Page Six the former couple met at one of the actor’s “top secret” Sunday tea parties at his Hyde Park penthouse.

In an interview with the Daily Mail , the international diamond trader claimed their years-long divorce battle cost him over $180 million. He also claimed the socialite spent nearly $15 million on designer clothes and handbags during their 11-year marriage.

“Irrespective of whoever she’s with, Tom Cruise or anybody else, they should be aware that she likes the finer things in life and has expensive and luxurious taste,” he told the outlet. “Tom should keep his eyes and wallet wide open.”

Sources told us in March that the “Top Gun: Maverick” star broke up with Khayrova to avoid issues with her outspoken ex.

“He’s filming and can’t be shooting and have her husband saying stuff every time he is mentioned in the press,” an insider told us. “They just didn’t want to deal with the ex husband coming up with something nasty to say every few weeks.”

This new company is offering bumper boat rentals on the Milwaukee River

Summer is almost here, and the Milwaukee River is already welcoming paddleboards, kayaks and pontoons.

And this year, another type of watercraft will be available for rentals. Cream City Boats , a new company founded by lifelong Milwaukee resident Matt Weber, rents out single-person, saucer-shaped electric "party boats." They look and function similarly to amusement park bumper boats but can't be used as aggressively.

"You can do a light tap with your friends, but you're not ramming and smashing into each other," Weber said. Weber was also the man behind the river's Kanaloa Tiki Lounge party pontoon , which he sold a few years ago, though it still operates today.

Weber's new electric boats launch from Schlitz Park. Each boat features a chair atop the circular base and a throttle that functions as a steering handle. "They turn on a dime. You can spin them in complete circles," he said.

Cream City Boats has operated since the beginning of May. Only about 10 people have rented so far, but more are booked in advance for later this summer. The first customers have enjoyed "doing donuts" while spinning in circles in the boats, which go about 5 miles per hour, and seeing the river scenery from a new perspective, Weber said.

"Everybody that's been on them has loved it," he continued. "They're smiling, they're laughing, they're happy to tell their friends about it. It's been great so far; it's been a very warm welcome."

Each boat is equipped with a dry box to store your phone and other valuables. You can rent a cooler for snacks or a waterproof Bluetooth speaker for an additional $10 each.

But, if you're considering enjoying a beer while floating down the river, you'll need to think again. Alcohol is forbidden on the boats. However, with each rental, you receive a $2 off coupon for a beer at the Tap Yard in Schlitz Park once you get back from the river.

Rentals are only available to adults 18 and older. Anyone born after Jan. 1, 1989, must complete a boater safety course before renting. How to rent bumper boats from Cream City Boats

Rentals are available Thursday through Sunday all summer long until the end of September, whenever the weather is cooperating. Currently, you can rent between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., though hours may be extended as the summer days get longer, Weber said.

Rentals are $75 per boat for 90 minutes, and each boat has a 90-minute timer to make sure you come back on time. For safety purposes, you must rent at least two boats at a time. According to the website, a $500 security deposit is required for all rentals.

Cream City Boats has 10 boats available in total; if you rent all 10, one is free.

Colorado GOP chair's embrace of Trump tactics splits party as he tries to boost his own campaign

Dave Williams has deployed former President Donald Trump’s belligerent politics to vault himself from a former state representative to chairman of the Colorado Republican Party

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- At a recent primary debate, congressional candidate Dave Williams took the microphone and unleashed the same MAGA arguments that vaulted him from a former state representative to chairman of the Colorado Republican Party.

“Right now we have a battle for the soul of our party,” Williams said.

Williams' zeal and deployment of former President Donald Trump 's combative style of politics as state pary chairman has riven the Colorado GOP, reflecting the Trump-shaped rift in the national Republican Party.

But recent brazen maneuvers from Williams, including using his position as chair to try to usher himself into Congress, inflamed tensions. Some Republican officials in Colorado fell in lockstep, others demanded Williams' resignation.

Through it all, Williams has caught Trump’s attention, a fact he didn’t let the crowd forget at the debate against his Republican rival for a Colorado House seat, Jeff Crank.

"I’m Dave Williams. I’m chairman of the Colorado Republican Party. And I’m also the Trump endorsed candidate," he said in his first utterances of Thursday's debate, later touting Trump's cell phone number saved in his own phone.

Crank tried to make sure the audience didn't forget the tempest around Williams, noting Williams' refusal to step down as party chair after joining the primary race, allegedly using the state party's email list to announce his campaign for Congress and spending party money to purchase mailers that included an attack on Crank.

“My opponent has spent too much time fighting other Republicans than fighting Democrats,” Crank said. “Where’s all the money to fight Democrats? It’s going to him, it’s going into his pocket, and it’s going into his campaign.”

Williams' maneuvers flouted state party norms across the U.S.

“He’s cannibalizing the Republican party so he can go to Congress," said Kelly Maher, a veteran GOP operative who filed a complaint against Williams with the Federal Elections Commission.

A statement from the Williams campaign did not respond to the complaint's accusations, instead lobbing invective at Crank and calling the complaint an attempt “to generate fake news."

William’s ascension and campaign mirror the national split among the GOP between a more combative, MAGA flank, which includes Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, and more pragmatic Republicans, some of whom, such as Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado, have fled Congress while citing the new divisiveness in their party.

Whoever wins in the GOP June 25 primary for the reliably Republican seat being vacated by retiring Rep. Doug Lamborn will likely win the general election . Williams unsuccessfully challenged Lamborn in the 2022 primary when a judge barred him from listing his name on the ballot as Dave “Let’s Go Brandon” Williams.

“The Colorado Republican Party, in my opinion, certainly under Williams' leadership, has been forced to ask questions that they never grappled with before,” said state Rep. Matt Soper, a Republican who worked with Williams in the Statehouse. “What kind of Republican Party do we want to be?"

Williams' tenure has left Colorado GOP rife with public infighting, in no small part prompted by his own attacks on fellow Republicans. While avoiding news interviews, Williams has sent short statements amounting to diatribes against rival Republicans, Democrats or the media.

Some Republicans appreciate the defense of the party’s conservative core from more moderate Republicans they see as muddling the movement.

That agenda has pushed Williams to wade beyond the traditional purview of a state party chair. State parties, at least publicly, tend to stay out of primary races, giving voters breathing room to choose their candidates. Under Williams, the Colorado Republican Party endorsed Republican primary candidates over others.

That included Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert, who faced her own accusations of opportunistic maneuvers after hopping congressional districts. Boebert politically falls near Williams as an unyielding, far-right member of Congress in line with Gaetz.

In April, Williams ejected a journalist from an official Republican Party gathering, provoking a national outcry and disapproval from Colorado Republicans, including Boebert primary opponent Deborah Flora. The state party subsequently announced its endorsement of Boebert over Flora.

Seth Masket, a University of Denver political scientist, noted that while political parties are supposed to be neutral, in internal primaries they often informally back one candidate or another. Williams has erased even the appearance of neutrality, he said.

“There are definitely lines being crossed,” Masket said. “Williams is doing it in a much more overt and official way. There’s nothing subtle about it.”

Kolby Zipperer, chairman of the El Paso County Young Republicans, attended Thursday's debate. When he entered the room, Zipperer, 35, was leaning toward Crank, concerned in part about the accusations of a lack of integrity against Williams.

"If I hear something in the lines of you’re a king, or your breaking the rules to benefit yourself. If I heard the same thing about (Crank) I’d have the same problem," Zipperer said.

But by the end of the event, it was a coin flip for Zipperer, who appreciated Williams' calm and talking points. While Williams can mirror Trump's fiery disposition in statements and social media posts, in front of an audience he is more even-keeled, Zipperer said.

“If he’s lying, he’s tricking me,” he said, adding that he also really likes Crank. “It’s like trying to pick two step dads."

Former Colorado GOP Chairwoman Kristi Burton Brown doesn’t see the party’s divide as being between Trump and anti-Trump, saying she supports Trump not because of the former president’s political style, but chiefly because of his U.S. Supreme Court appointments and policy during his time in office.

“You can embrace that without thinking that, ‘Oh good. Now our entire party needs to adopt a combative, shove your face in the dirt style,’” Brown said. “Hate and divisiveness eventually blows up in its own face.”

5 New Surprises Coming to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

No tricks here, because we’re doling out five new treats — plus returning favorites — for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in 2024! It’s time to kick off the festivities with a Halfway to Halloween celebration, and we’re conjuring up more spooky spectacles at this separately-ticketed event, which takes place on select nights at Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort , starting Aug. 9!

It’s never too early to start planning for Halloween, so if you’re already in the mood for the spine-chilling season, find out what’s in store for 2024. Get your costumes and candy bags ready, it’s go time for #HalfwayToHalloween! 

1. New costumes for Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse

Get ready to strike a scary pose! Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will greet guests during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in their brand-new neon spiderweb attire. 

2. More Villains sightings

From the moment Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party begins and throughout Magic Kingdom you’ll be able to spot your favorite sinister villains and ghoulish foes! Who knows, you might even get to take a selfie with them. 

3. Bust a move during the DescenDANCE Party

Get ready to let loose and show off your best villain DescenDANCE Party, taking place at Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland. This new rave is inspired by the upcoming Disney Original Movie “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” premiering on Disney+ on July 12, so trust me when I tell you this is a date you don’t want to be late for. 

4. Bruno Madrigal joins the fun

You’re going to want to talk about this. Because yes, we’re talking about Bruno. For the first time during the party, you can meet the clairvoyant character from “Encanto” alongside Mirabel at their Casita in Fairytale Garden. 

5. New earlier start time for “Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade”!

This year, the fan-favorite parade will take place a full hour earlier, 8:15pm to be exact – perfect for those guests attending with little ones who want to enjoy the spooky fun before it’s bedtime.

That’s everything that’s brand new, but what about what’s back for more tricks (and treats) this year? Returning favorites include “Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular” fireworks show, hosted by Jack Skellington, the “Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular” stage show, and trick-or-treating throughout the park. In addition, dance the night away at the and enjoy popular attractions with special Halloween twists, including Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, Space Mountain, and Mad Tea Party. Get ready to fill your Halloween basket with M&M’S, SKITTLES, SNICKERS and more available at various trick-or-treating locations. And don’t forget to stock up on marvelous event-exclusive merchandise!

If you’ve got a frightening sweet tooth, take a bite out of Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party, which includes fireworks viewing from Plaza Garden or Tomorrowland Terrace. Reservations for this experience open on June 7.

I am delighted to finally have the party dates so that we can make plans! However, please give us LESS spicy menu items for the Halloween party. In recent years the food options, both sweet and savory, are predominately spicy. I’m not sure why lately Disney food and beverage has decided that Halloween somehow equals spicy. It does not. Here’s the thing, most kids and many adults simply will not eat spicy foods. That makes it very difficult when the food and beverage options are already so limited during a party event to begin with. In addition, we would like to see at least one Haunted Mansion themed party exclusive treat. Last year there were none whatsoever. As Magic Kingdom is the only place in the US where one can have the classic Haunted Mansion attraction experience during the spooky season, we should celebrate that. 👻👻👻

What is the exact definition of “select Disney World Resort Hotels” ????? What is the big secret????

Does Port Orleans French Qaurter qualify as a select resort?????

Any word on if Tron will be virtual queue or standby during the party this year?
