4. Village of Kuldhara

The legend of Kuldhara is a well-known but incomprehensible myth. Kuldhara, which is around 18 miles from Jaisalmer , is a settlement that has been deserted since the 1800s. Brij Raj Bhavan is placed on the bank of the river Chamba, Kota. It is now used as a heritage hotel of Rajasthan. This palace hotel has stunning living and drawing rooms, regal décor, beautiful lawns and terrace gardens, cheerful birds, pleasant weather, delicious food, etc. But the hotel is infamous as a haunted place of Rajasthan. It is believed that a spirit of an English soldier moves in the halls and premises of the palace. This is one of the most famous haunted places in Rajasthan.

Rajasthan was once home to the British Regency and some royal families who were allied to the British. Brij Raj Bhavan was once the residence of an English soldier; named Major Charles Burton . He was an employee of East India Company . During Sepoy Mutiny in 1857 , Indian militants attacked the palace and killed Major Charles Burton and his family in his own mansion. It is believed after that King of Kota of that time recovers the dead bodies and buried the bodies in the central hall of the mansion. Soon after, local residents started to see the ghost of Major Charles Burton in the premises of Brij Raj Bhavan.

In the year 1980, former Maharani of Kota shared her experience to see the ghost of Major Burton with a journalist. She would see Major Burton in her study room as an aged man with white hair and a walking stick. According to her, it is a harmless ghost.

But according to the guards of this palace, the ghost would slap the guards to wake them up from drowsiness. They also received a scolding from the ghost.

Legend has it that when Alauddin Khilji attacked and defeated Rana Ratan Singh, instead of surrender Rani Padmini along with her 700 female followers performed the Jauhar , self-immolation . Since then, it is said that spirits of them meander across the palace complex.

There are many stories about this fort where people heard the voice of women asking for help to save their empire.

But the most horrible was when around a year back, a group of friends stayed one night at the palace to observe if there were any paranormal activities or not. While exploring the passages of the fort, they heard a female scream asking for help. As they turned around, they saw a lady standing in royal attire with a burnt face.

The Prince’s Ghost of Nahargarh Fort:

Nahargarh Fort is placed at the edge of the Aravalli hills and serves an amazing view of the “ Pink City “, Jaipur . Like Amber and Jaigarh, Nahargarh once served as the defense ring for Jaipur. To disconnect the royals from the world, the walls of the fort were built sky-high. In 1734, the king of Jaipur, Sawai Jai Singh , built this fort.

It is believed that the original name of the fort was Sudarshangarh . But lately, it is known as Nahargarh. There is two theory behind the history of the name. The first one is, Nahargarh which means the “ adobe of the tiger .” And the name comes from it.

The second and interesting one is, the name Nahargarh came after the name of the spirit of Nahar Singh Bhomia . Nahar Singh Bhomia was a Rathore prince. It is claimed during the excavation for the construction of Nahargarh fort, the spirit of Nahar Singh Bhomia was disturbed, disrespected, and hurt. Thus, the spirit started haunting the place. That’s why the king decided to change the name of the fort. He also built a temple to his name. But, it is said that his spirit has not got any rest.

It is needed to renovate the older buildings to preserve them for the future generation. The engineer who was leading the renovation project of the fort was found dead mysteriously in his own home. According to locals, Nahar Singh Bhomia was disturbed again with the renovation work, which is why he eliminated the engineer in-charge.

NH79 , the highway, is famed as the “ road that asks for blood .” NH79 or the Ajmer-Udaipur highway is one of the most famous haunted places in Rajasthan. The Dudu village is placed very near to it. Numerous ghastly stories are attached to this highway and village.

History states that a long time before when child marriage was conventional in India, in Dudu village, a five-days old girl child was to be married off to a 3-year-old toddler. The mother of that girl infant was against the marriage. So taking the baby girl in her lap, she ran away towards the highway to ask for help. A tourist vehicle hit her and her child, and both of them, died instantly on the spot. From that incident, it becomes haunted places in Rajasthan.

Since then, there were plenty of ghostly incidents around the highway NH79. Many tourists on that highway have encountered the ghost of the woman covered in blood carrying a baby asking for a lift in the middle of the highway and then suddenly disappears .

One of those incidents was, three friends, while driving on the Ajmer-Udaipur highway, encountered the lady covered in blood, carrying a baby in her arms, and asking for a lift. The lady sat on the back seat of the car and guided them out of the village. But suddenly, she disappeared in the air.

Long before the construction of Bhangarh Fort, the tranquil surroundings of Bhangarh Fort served as a meditation place for Baba Balau Nath. The sadhu, a guardian of the mystical energies enveloping the area, granted permission for the fort’s construction, but with one condition.

He said that no structure within the fort could surpass the height of his humble abode to the extent that those buildings must not cast their shadows on his holy abode. Initially, Raja Madho Singh agreed to the conditions and built the magnificent Bhangarh Fort. But a year later when the grandson of Madho Singh – Ajab Singh took over, he decided to add more pillars to extend the height of the fort.

Ignoring the sage’s caution, Ajab Singh dared to raise the fort’s height significantly, casting a shadow upon Baba Balau Nath’s house. This act of Ajab Singh triggered the curse of Baba Balu Nath and the whole down diminished over time.

This seemingly harmless thing caused the sadhu to unleash his curse, and the whole town was wiped out. The power of the curse kept repeating over time so that no one could ever live in Bhangarhi again. The curse was strong enough that no one could ever settle in the village again.

A spine-chilling aftermath unfolded as all the village houses gradually lost their roofs, victims of the relentless curse. Those who tried to settle in the village by rebuilding the roofs of their houses died beneath the weight of collapsing roofs.

2. Haunting Bhangarh Fort Story: Princess Ratnavati and Black Magic

It is said that a tantric priest in Bhangarh was captivated by her beauty. He wished for the princess badly, despite knowing that Princess Ratnavati would marry one of her many suitors from the royal family. The tantric then plotted something to get Princess Ratnavati to marry her.

The tantric knew that the Princess applies scented oil to her hair daily. So one day he replaced the oil with an oil made by him. He infused the oil with some kind of black magic so that when the princess applied this oil, she would start liking the tantric.

Princess Ratnavati had some knowledge about black magic and thus figured out that her hair oil was spiked. In anger, she threw the oil on a big boulder and the black magic reversed onto the tantric. The boulder on which the princess had thrown the oil, rolled a long distance until it crushed the tantric priest.

Right before his death, the angry tantric priest put a dreadful curse on Bhangarh. He said life there would be sad and full of despair, making sure no one could live peacefully. The next year, a big battle went down between Ajabgarh and the Mughal Empire, and thus the entire Bhangarh Fort was diminished.

Many people who tried to go inside the fort after sunset did not come back or had unfortunate accidents that led to their deaths. Experts say that villagers are trapped inside the fort and their ghosts are haunting it. The guards have reported that the sounds of a daily market can be heard inside the fort as if it is still functioning as it used to in the past. Some people also say that you can see the ghost of Princess Ratnavati inside the fort.

One of the spookiest places in New Zealand, the Larnach Castle is famous for being one of the few castles in the country. The story goes as follows, the castle’s ballroom was gifted by Larnach to his daughter, Katie on her 21st birthday. Unfortunately, she died young due to typhoid cancer. His first two wives also died while in this castle, and he himself committed suicide after learning of his son’s and his third wife’s affair. Later, the castle was also a mental hospital during the World Wars. While Katie is seen swirling in the ballroom, he too has been spotted roaming around the corridors. 2. The Vulcan Hotel

Once the most popular pub hotel in town, The Vulcan Hotel has a room 101 that is avoided by all today. It is said that a prostitute by the name The Rose was a regular here. One night she entered the hotel with a male client, and was found strangled to death the next day. Unnatural experiences like water boiling in the kettle when it is switched off, noises in the corridor, and male guests being held down or strangled have occurred here.

3. The Carlile House

The year 1912 saw a raging fire accident which took the lives of more than 40 boys. The Carlile House was an orphanage for boys, and ever since the fire, paranormal incidents have been observed. Children’s laughter is one of the common ones.

4. Kingseat Hospital

With a history of being one of the largest psychiatric hospital in the country, Kingseat Hospital saw a lot of deaths in its time. It is said that the death of staff member exceeded the number of patients, probably due to increased mental and emotional trauma. A lot of suicides were committed on these grounds. Sightings of a nurse, popularly called as the “Grey Lady” are seen in the corridors here.

5. Spirits Bay

One of the lesser spooky sites, but one that is definitely frequented by spirits is the Spirits Bay. People claim to have seen people walk along the beach and disappear at one particular spot. Legend says that this is the place for people to pass on to the afterlife.

6. Napier Prison

Not only was the Napier Prison a prison, but also an orphanage, and at one point of time, even a psychiatric hospital. With a history so weird, it is no surprise that this place has an eerie aura to it. It’s most famous and controversial convict was the mass murderer Roland Edwards, who is said to haunt this place.

7. Waitomo Caves Hotel

Built on the ancient land of the Maori, it is believed that the Maori Princess haunts this hotel. With a reputation of being the spookiest hotel in New Zealand, incidents of noises and screams, children’s laughter, and even bathtubs dripping blood have been reported. A former staff member’s spirit is said to have been here from time to time too, arranging the guests’ shoes neatly.

8. Chateau Tongariro

Chateau Tongariro was a women’s asylum in the 1940s. It has been a site of murder, suicide and accidents, which makes it one of the eerie places in New Zealand. Curtains moving on their own, doors opening and closing, are some incidents common here. It has also happened that “unwelcome” guests find their bags packed and ready to go in the morning.

If you find a friendly man helping people in this tunnel, it may not actually be a man. While there is nothing too spooky about it, the story says that a Scottish man was killed during the construction of the tunnel. He apparently helps people as he himself struggles to find his way home.

10. Riccarton Racecourse Hotel

The licensee of this hotel, Mr. Donald Fraser was found murdered in this hotel in 1933. Unfortunately, the killer was not found, and it is said that Mr. Fraser still roams these corridors to find the actual killer.

11. Camp Adair

Camp Adair is located near Auckland. It was a popular spot for school picnics. The story says that a group of children was killed by the teacher here, and that the teacher can still be spotted roaming around these grounds.

Believed to be a homeless man who enjoyed the weekly games here, his spirit is still seen occupying the same seat during the games. Jaipur: The monsoon season is a great time to visit Rajasthan since the rains bring out the state's luxuriant vegetation and magnificent beauty. In Rajasthan, the monsoon season is characterised by luxuriant flora, breathtaking beauty, and engrossing history. The Amer Fort

One of India's most magnificent palaces, the Amer Fort, is set atop a hill not far from Jaipur. This magnificent structure, sometimes referred to as the Amber Fort, is a work of architecture and holds a major place in Indian history. Its labyrinthine passageways and spiral staircases give it this name. Amer Fort, which is only 11 miles from Jaipur, is made of pink and yellow sandstone and is a part of a large complex, as per Holidify.

Nahargarh Fort

In the eighteenth century, Sawai Madho Singh constructed the magnificent Nahargarh Fort. The name Nahargarh, which means "abode of tigers," refers to the fort's location on Cheel ka Teela, or "Hill of Eagles." At one time, Jaipur's city walls were fortified by the Nahargarh, Amer, and Jaigarh forts.

The Jal Mahal, which is also known as the "Water Palace," was not intended to be used as a palace when it was erected by Maharaja Madho Singh I. It was designed to act as a hunting lodge for the king and his entourage when they went on duck hunting excursions. The palace is still a well-known location for sightseeing in Jaipur, standing in the centre of Man Sagar Lake. The Jal Mahal was built with pink sandstone in a symmetrical style, following a traditional Rajput pattern, as per the official tourism site of Rajasthan government.

Keoladeo National Park

Keoladeo National Park in the Indian state of Rajasthan is renowned for having a huge number of resident breeding non-migratory birds and acting as an important habitat for migratory waterfowl from the Palaearctic region.

In addition to serving as a wintering place for migratory ducks from the Palaearctic region, Keoladeo National Park in the Indian state of Rajasthan is also known for harbouring a large number of breeding non-migratory resident birds. Because of its ideal location in the middle of the Central Asian migratory flyway and the abundance of water, numerous flocks of ducks, geese, coots, pelicans, and waders assemble there during the winter, the UNESCO report on the site says.

Bhangarh Fort

The Bhangarh Fort is reputed to be the one of the most mysterious locations in India. There is no denying the fact that anything connected to the paranormal draws a lot of interest, and the desolate city of Bhangarh capitalises on that very notion.
