Philips Stadion
Club: PSV Eindhoven | Opening: 1913 | Capacity: 35,000 seats
History and description
Philips Stadion has been the home of PSV Eindhoven since the club’s foundation in 1913. It officially opened on 13 August 1913 with a kick-off by the 8-year-old Frits Philips, son of Philips Electronics founder Anton Philips and future livelong PSV fan.
Philips Stadion was initially a bare pitch and it took until 1916 for the first wooden stand to be built. In the following decades, the stadium got gradually expanded, resulting in a capacity of about 22,000 in the post-War period.
The stadium got almost entirely rebuilt between 1969 and 1977, which resulted in a completely enclosed and covered stadium with a capacity of 26,500 places.
The new main stand was the last to be completed in 1977, but also the first to get rebuilt again when in 1988 cracks in the concrete were found. The new two-tiered main stand had ample corporate facilities and was considered to be the most modern of the Netherlands at that time.
In the next six years, works continued with the reconstruction of the two stands at the ends, and finally with the other side of the stadium.
Philips Stadion got selected as one of the playing venues of the Euro 2000 tournament, during which it hosted three first round group matches.
The stadium counted with a capacity of just over 30,000 at that time, which later got increased when the upper tiers on the southern side got linked up.
In 2006, Philips Stadion hosted the UEFA Cup final between Sevilla and Middlesbrough (4-0).
How to get to Philips Stadion
Philips Stadion is located on the edge of Eindhoven’s city centre, which means it is only a 5 to 10-minute walk from Eindhoven’s main shopping areas and central train station.
Exit the train station on the city centre side, turn right, and follow the avenue until the stadium shows up in front of you.
If arriving by car, find your way to Eindhoven’s city centre. Most city centre car parks are within walking distance of the stadium.
If coming from Eindhoven Airport, take bus 401 to the central train station and get off at stop Philips Stadion. The ride takes about 20 minutes.
Address: Frederiklaan 10a, 5616 NH Eindhoven

Philips Stadion is a purpose built football stadium located in the municipality and city of Eindhoven.
Home to famous Dutch team, PSV Eindhoven, the 35,000 capacity arena dates back to 1910 but has undergone significant renovations over the years to reach its current form, with the 2002 filling of the corners the last major structural improvement made.
PSV Stadium Guide
Philips stadion history.
PSV have played football at the location of the Philips Stadion as far back as 1913 when the stadium was referred to as Philips Sportpark.
Situated within the Strijp area of Eindhoven, the stadion is located within the Philipsdorp neighbourhood which was created by Anton Philips in 1910 to be used as accommodation for workers of his company. PSV football club was then established three years as another gift to employees.
By 1916 the football pitch had its first wooden stand capable of accommodating over 550 views, and by the 1930s the capacity doubled as a new 900 seater stand was also erected.
Damaged during the second world war, the previously added athletics track was removed in 1958, with the Philips Stadion really coming to its own with the installation of floodlights which were inaugurated with a match against Belgian side Anderlecht .
PSV’s ground underwent two extensive renovations in the late 1980s and early 1990s in order to give the stadium its form today with the brand new two tiered main stand baptised with a friendly match against dominate Italian side A.C Milan in 1988.
In preparation for Euro 2000 where PSV’s stadium was scheduled to host three group matches, the remaining older stands were elevated as to create uniformity in the ground’s appearance.
The most recent significant renovation occurred during the 2000-2001 season when the four corners of the stadium were filled in, giving Philips Stadion it’s current capacity of 36,000.
Not quite large enough to host a Champions League final, UEFA designated PSV’s ground as a four star stadium and in 2006 it hosted the UEFA Cup final between Middlesbrough and Sevilla with the Spanish side winning 4 nil.
There are currently no plans to expand the stadium further with plans to expand the ground to 45,000 fell through after Holland’s bid to host the 2018 Fifa World Cup failed.

An inseparable story Of a jewel and its case
With more than 35,000 season ticket holders each season, the Parc des Princes is a stadium resolutely dedicated to football. The Paris Saint-Germain brand and its logo are now inscribed in the setting of the stadium where the Rouge et Bleu have played more than 1,000 official matches since the first of them, on November 10, 1973, against Red Star. The following summer, after its accession to the First Division, the young PSG, created four years earlier, will become the resident club of this historic site of Parisian sport, inaugurated in 1897 in the form of a velodrome. Much later, in 1972, the enclosure will take on its current contours, imagined by the architect Roger Taillibert.
The Stadium Tour is open during school holidays, every weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last departure) and on Friday, except on matchday.
From July 10 to August 12, 2024 , the Parc des Princes will be the scene of numerous sporting events on the occasion of the Olympic Games . Consequently, visits will be closed during this period. Anticipate by booking your experience now!

Live nation, aeg bidding on *nsync reunion stadium tour after fan demand, *nsync live nation, aeg bidding on reunion stadium tour.
*NSYNC's appearances over the last year have stirred up so much excitement that two major tour promoters are bidding on a possible reunion stadium tour ... convinced the group could pack stadiums and be one for the history books.
Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... both Live Nation and AEG have thrown their hats in the ring, reaching out to the members of the popular boy band just a couple weeks ago to let the guys know they're down to explore the idea of a tour.
We're told their interest was piqued, especially after witnessing the love and support the group received last year when they reunited for a song in the latest 'Trolls' movie.
Our sources say the buzz surrounding their 2023 MTV VMAs appearance and their surprise cameo at Justin Timberlake 's L.A. show in March was the icing on the cake for the promoters.
Our sources say both promoters have presented the group with some serious financial numbers, although they would not be specific.
Our sources say the group is mulling over the offers, but we're told no decisions are close to being made. If the reunion stadium tour were to happen, it wouldn't be until 2025.
Lance Bass and Joey Fatone have been expressing their enthusiasm for a reunion. Remember, JT is currently focused on his solo music endeavors with his new album and 2024 tour, which doesn't wrap until December.
Stay tuned ...

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:
From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.
At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.
According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.
The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.
Coffee Ring
The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.
Zodiac Metro
According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.
Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.
Paleontological finds
Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

HOUSTON (AP) — Time marches on and all good things must come to an end. But don’t tell that to The Rolling Stones .
What many believe to be the greatest rock ’n’ roll band in the world showed no signs of slowing down anytime soon as they kicked off their latest tour Sunday night at Houston’s NRG Stadium.
The Stones have been touring for more than 60 years. Frontman Mick Jagger and lead guitarist Keith Richards are both 80, with guitarist Ronnie Wood not far behind at 76. Their tour is being sponsored in part by AARP.
But during a vibrant two-hour show, the Stones played with the energy of band that was on tour for the first time.
“It’s great to be back in the Lone Star State,” Jagger told the packed stadium, filled with longtime fans, many wearing faded concert shirts from previous tours.
Jagger often strutted up and down the stage with seemingly boundless energy while Richards and Wood played many familiar guitar riffs beloved by fans. Jagger often led the audience in sing-alongs.
“The energy level is up and it’s always up with them. The age doesn’t show,” Dale Skjerseth, the Stones’ production director, said Friday before the concert.
The Stones have hit the road to support the release of their latest album, “Hackney Diamonds,” the band’s first record of original music since 2005.
Houston was the first stop on the band’s 16-city tour across the U.S. and Canada. Other cities on the tour include New Orleans, Philadelphia and Vancouver, British Columbia. The tour ends on July 17 in Santa Clara, California.
During Sunday’s 18-song concert set list, the Stones played several tracks off the new record, including lead single “Angry.” They also played classics including “Sympathy for the Devil,” “Gimme Shelter,” Honky Tonk Women” and “Start Me Up.”
After playing “Beast of Burden,” Jagger said that concertgoers in Houston had voted to include it on the set list.
“You can’t go wrong with that,” one man in the audience could be heard screaming.
The Stones also played some unexpected choices, including “Rocks Off,” from their 1972 double album “Exile on Main St.” and “Out of Time,” a 1966 song that Jagger said during the concert had not ever been played by the band in the U.S.
With the 2021 death of drummer Charlie Watts , the Stones are now comprised of the core trio of Jagger, Richards and Wood. On Sunday, they were backed by various musicians including two keyboardists, a new drummer, backup singers and a brass section.
While the stage was surrounded by a large collection of video screens projecting images throughout the show, the main focus of the concert was the band and their songs
Before Sunday’s concert, Jagger spent time on Friday touring NASA’s Johnson Space Center in suburban Houston, posting photos on his Instagram account of him with astronauts inside Mission Control.
“I had an amazing trip to the space center,” Jagger said.
When asked if the band might be thinking about retiring, Skjerseth said he doubts that will happen.
“This is not the end. They’re very enthused,” he said.
This story has been updated to correct a song title to “Gimme Shelter,” not “Gimmer Shelter.”
