School of the Arts and Communication

Creativity abounds in the Art and Interactive Multimedia Building. Students fine-tune their craft in the Music Building and go live on TV, radio, or the stage in Kendall Hall.

image

School of Humanities and Social Sciences

You’ll find criminology, African-American Studies, and political science majors—plus a gorgeous atrium—in the Social Sciences Building. Bliss Hall is where programs such as English and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies live.

image

Student Life

Have time between classes? Head to the Brower Student Center. While it’s a hub for student organizations and activities, it’s also a lively spot to catch up with friends, grab a bite, play pool, or relax.

Explore campus life

Just look for the iconic clock tower to spot Green Hall. Here, you’ll find President Foster’s office in addition to student services such as financial aid, records and registration, student accounts, and information technology.

Packer Hall is only one of many campus facilities where our athletic Lions roam. Visit the aquatic center, track and field complex, baseball field, Lions Stadium, and other spots to see TCNJ’s NCAA Division III stars in action.

Campus Living/First-Year Experience

First-year students start their TCNJ experience in one of six traditional residence halls. Travers and Wolfe, the largest options, have easy access to TDubs on the ground floor for late-night noshing. Let the memory-making begin!

Sophomore and Upperclass Living

Beginning sophomore year, students can live the suite life — literally — in a traditional residence hall or townhouse. Upperclassmen are eligible for coveted single rooms in townhouses or in apartment-style residence halls.

image

School of Education

Our teachers-in-training hit the ground running early in the Education Building’s model classrooms. And we take STEM education to new heights thanks to a classroom with partially exposed structural and mechanical systems overhead.

image

School of Engineering

The STEM Building and Armstrong Hall — part of the larger STEM Complex — are like open, collaborative academic playgrounds, filled with the latest instrumentation and design technology as well as numerous specialty labs.

image

School of Science

Rounding out the STEM Complex are the Physics, Math, Chemistry, and Biology buildings, joined by a photo-worthy courtyard and fountain. Have an evening class? Enjoy the glow of the Golden Spiral sculpture as you walk by.

image

School of Business

Whether you plan to go global and study abroad or co-op at a Fortune 500 company, it all starts at the Business Building. Feeling entrepreneurial? Pitch your business plan in an annual competition for some serious startup funding.

Campus Town

Student apartments (singles plus two and four bedrooms), a fitness center, shops, restaurants, and services — Campus Town’s 11 buildings, built in 2016, are conveniently located right across Metzger Drive from Trenton Hall.

image

Explore Campus Town

Metzger Drive

The scenic loop surrounding TCNJ’s campus, Metzger Drive also makes a great running or walking path. That’s the end of our tour; we hope you’ve enjoyed it and see why so many students choose to call TCNJ home!

Virtual tours are a great way to refresh your memory or to preview an on-site tour of The College of New Jersey.

Why a Virtual Tour?

At the beginning of your college search, a virtual tour can be a beneficial tool to explore the campus before your visit. When you do visit the campus, be sure to talk to current students about their experiences. A student perspective is a helpful way to gauge your future experience when attending TCNJ. Already took an on-campus tour? It's inevitable. All of your college tours will blend, and you might forget the appearance of The College of New Jersey's library, dorms, or cafeteria. Use the virtual tour to jog your memory! With the interactive mapping tool below you can even explore the area surrounding the campus.

Use the resources below to start your virtual tour.

Using the Map

Click and drag the little orange person to a location on the map. Locations with panoramas appear as blue lines or blue dots when moving the orange person. The blue dots are panoramic views that you may swivel. The blue lines are paths that you can navigate along.

Panoramic View

You can "pan" or "swivel" the camera around by clicking on the image and dragging your mouse or finger. If you see a white arrow on the picture, you can click or tap on it to move in the direction of the arrow. 48 acres of innovation and excitement—that's the NJIT campus. Have you seen it lately?

We've added new buildings at a steady pace for the last two decades—most recently the Joel & Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center (WEC), Life Sciences and Engineering Center, and Central King Building (formerly Central High School).

Once you're here, we encourage you to take a campus tour, soak up some sun on the rooftop gardens, check out our technology-filled classrooms and research facilities, or stroll through the libraries. If you have time, we encourage you to see what’s new in Newark.

We offer you the opportunity to be a part of a learning community in the most desirable fields of study.

We're proud of our facilities, but the most important part of our campus is its people. Wander around for a while and you might come upon students clearing their minds in an intramural volleyball game, testing their skills at the annual video game development expo, or working out tunes on the Campus Center's baby grand. Time your visit just right and you could catch a Highlanders home game or a performance at the  Jim Wise Theatre . To find out what's happening now, visit the  events calendar .

However you choose to spend your spare time at NJIT, we have the facilities to make you feel at home.

What's cool about college? These NJ schools have unique amenities

Think you're too cool for school? Try again. Maybe your school is too cool!

Out of the more than 50 Garden State private and public colleges and universities, many of them have unique and cool attractions, including these 12 with one-of-a-kind amenities.

Way back when − before America was even a thing − New Jersey was the only British colony to permit the establishment of two colleges in the colonial period.  Princeton University was chartered in 1746 as the College of New Jersey, and  Rutgers , The State University of New Jersey, was chartered on Nov. 10, 1766, as Queen's College. They were two of only nine colleges founded before the American Revolution.

The eighth-oldest college in the nation, Rutgers became the state university in 1945 and now has more than 2,600 acres of campus with more than 700 buildings − some dating back to the Revolution. The public land-grant research university has four official campuses − New Brunswick, Piscataway, Newark and Camden − and offers six student centers, five recreation centers, four dining halls, 30-plus food courts and cafes and one authentic Jersey diner.

The university, which serves more than 65,000 students, offers more than 150 undergraduate majors as well as a working organic farm, livestock farm and Rutgers Gardens, a 180-acre botanic garden, on Cook campus and the Global Village living-learning communities on Douglass. Livingston campus has a first-run movie theater while Busch boasts an 18-hole golf course and Esports center. College Avenue campus features the world-class Zimmerli Art Museum and the Rutgers Geology Museum, complete with a mastodon skeleton and Egyptian mummy.

Unlike Rutgers, Princeton remained a private college and developed into a research university that is one of the nation's eight prestigious Ivy League schools. Albert Einstein first visited Princeton in 1921 to lecture on the theory of relativity. From 1933 to 1939, Einstein occupied an office at 109 Fine Hall (now Jones Hall) on Princeton’s campus while the Institute for Advanced Study − an independent center for theoretical research and intellectual inquiry − was being constructed. He taught at Palmer Physical Laboratory (now 302 Frist Campus Center).

While Einstein was not a professor at Princeton, he associated with physics professors and continued to give lectures on campus. Princeton also is home to the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory, which the university manages. This month, the DOE broke ground on the new Princeton Plasma Innovation Center, a state-of-the-art office and laboratory building for research supporting PPPL’s expanded mission into microelectronics, quantum sensors and devices, and sustainability sciences.

Stockton University opened its Atlantic City campus in 2018. There, students live and learn in a unique coastal environment. A shuttle ride away from the school's main campus in Galloway, the Atlantic City residences overlook the beach and the historic Atlantic City Boardwalk. The African American Heritage Museum is located at the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University on Fairmount Avenue in Atlantic City. The museum presents more than 12,000 unique artifacts on a rotating basis, updated every month.

In Mahwah, Ramapo College of New Jersey is situated directly across the street from the Ramapo Valley County Reservation, Bergen County's largest park area. Located on the edge of the Highlands Region, the park has grown to more than 4,000 acres with the recent additions of Camp Glen Gray, Camp Tamarack and Camp Todd. Ramapo College benefits from the beauty of the park and easy access to its offerings including hiking, camping, fishing and cross-country skiing.

Looking like a scene out of "The Great Gatsby," Monmouth University in West Long Branch is known for having a beautiful, well-manicured campus and being situated just is a few blocks from the beach. The site of Daddy Warbucks mansion in the 1982 movie "Annie," it appropriately boasts a state-of-the-art TV studio.

At  Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, the ABS Engineering Center houses five labs designed for robotics, naval engineering, structural engineering, hydraulics, and other research.

The Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO) is a university-based solar observatory operated by Newark's New Jersey Institute of Technology . BBSO, which is located in San Bernardino County, California, has a 1.6-meter clear-aperture Goode Solar Telescope. The observatory's telescopes and instruments are designed and employed specifically for studying the activities and phenomena of the sun.

A Catholic university, Seton Hall is the oldest diocesan university in the U.S. and its suburban 58-acre park-like campus located just 14 miles away from Manhattan in South Orange. On campus, the Center for Securities Trading and Business Analytics, links the academic world to the business world with its ability to offer international rapid-fire data, financial tools and business analytics. Seton Hall also offers a graduate program in Museum Professions and is the home of the Walsh Art Gallery.

William Paterson University  in Wayne has the largest nursing program in the state with patient simulators that breathe, have pulses, and moving eyeballs.

Unique in New Jersey, the $350 million Rowan Boulevard redevelopment project links Rowan University with Glassboro’s downtown retail district. The privately funded partnership between Rowan, developers and the borough had a goal to create a quintessential college town. The one-third mile corridor is lined with shops, restaurants and medical providers at street level with housing, offices and classrooms on the floors above. There is even an outdoor ice skating rink.

Key anchors include the Rowan Boulevard Apartments complex for students, a Barnes & Noble collegiate superstore and a Courtyard by Marriott hotel and conference center. Nearby on High Street, there are more student housing comingling with art galleries and shops. Also on campus, students and employees plant more than 2,000 seedlings on West Campus Farm that produces peppers, tomatoes, squash, melons and more. Each season's harvest provides fresh fruit and vegetables for Rowan's food pantry and community organizations, as well as Houshmand's Hazardous Hot Sauce, which raises funds for student emergency scholarships.

At Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg, a 100-seat planetarium is open to the students, staff and public and offers a variety of educational programs and laser concerts. The planetarium also has the 3M Observatory which is located on the hill outside the planetarium, and consists of three buildings − a domed observatory which houses a 16-foot Meade telescope, a roll-off-roof observatory and a utility building.

Kean University is currently comprised of five colleges and a graduate school. It hosts several research institutions, including the New Jersey Center for Science, Technology and Mathematics, the Kean University Human Rights Institute, the Holocaust Resource Center, the Wynona Moore Lipman Ethnic Studies Center, and Liberty Hall. With a main campus in Union County, it has a satellite campus in Ocean County, in the Skylands region and it is the only public American university with a campus in China at Wenzhou-Kean University. Kean also is the home of Premiere Stages, a professional theatre company that works with Kean students in the production of its plays. The Jazz & Roots Music Festival launched in 2021 on the Lawn at Enlow Hall and Kean also offers a variety of art galleries across campus.

Montclair State University boasts a one-of-a-kind amphitheater, situated next to the Alexander Kasser Theater. The 2,000-seat refurbished facility was originally constructed in 1940 and is a natural open stone space with 30 rows of steps. The amphitheater is used for performances, festivals and classes, as well as a speaking ground for special events. Also on campus is the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center and Yogi Berra Stadium. The MSU Ice Skating Arena, formerly known as Floyd Hall Arena, opened in March 1998 with two NHL size rinks, an off-ice training area, meeting rooms, concession stand, pro shop, and facilities for parties. Further, MSU features the Red Hawk Diner, the first diner on a university campus in the U.S. and the George Segal Gallery, located on the fourth floor of the Red Hawk Deck.

The on campus dining (in the student center and other retail locations) is very good; top picks are the Panera in campus town, and The Grill in the student center. There is also a variety of shops located in campus town, including a salon. I would change the way funds tend to get used on the campus though, aesthetics can often times be prioritized over things students want/need. But elected student government often advocates on behalf... .

Best Colleges in New Jersey

New Jersey — also known as The Garden State — has a wide variety of higher education experiences and is home to some of the most well-known colleges in the United States.

New Jersey spans from the New York metropolitan area to what some consider the start of the American south. With a significantly lower crime rate than other American states, New Jersey also offers a safe experience for college students.

The Ivy League Experience in New Jersey

Princeton University , located in Princeton, New Jersey, is one of eight prestigious Ivy League colleges in the United States. Princeton is a private research university with extra-competitive admissions and extremely rigorous academics. Top Princeton majors include chemistry, history, and public policy. The university offers numerous undergraduate programs and 42 graduate programs.

Large New Jersey Universities

Rutgers is the largest college in the state, with around 45,000 undergraduate students and 20,000 graduate students. This public university has four campuses in New Jersey:

  • Rutgers University - New Brunswick
  • Rutgers University - Camden
  • Rutgers University Biomedical and Health Sciences

Rutgers also has facilities elsewhere in New Jersey to facilitate ocean research. Many consider the New Brunswick campus a “public ivy,” meaning the school offers a similar experience to those of private Ivy League colleges.

Montclair State University has less than half the number of students as Rutgers — just over 20,000 — but is still one of the state's larger colleges. This public university is just 12 miles from New York City. Students benefit from internship opportunities at New York companies and metropolitan cultural experiences while living on a traditional college campus outside of the city. Montclair State has 300 plus programs to choose from and a high teacher-to-student ratio, meaning greater individual attention.

Farleigh Dickinson is the largest private university in the state. The school has two campuses in New Jersey, one in Vancouver, Canada, and another in the UK. The Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck, New Jersey is the largest and is just across the Hudson from New York City, offering students big-city opportunities. The other campus is in Florham Park, NJ.

Why Attend College in New Jersey?

New Jersey offers the unique experience of being close to two major metropolitan areas: New York City and Philadelphia . Both are prime locations for jobs, internships, learning experiences, and more — during college and after graduation. New Jersey residents tend to make more than the national average median income, making it a great place to begin life once you’ve finished college.

In addition to several great four-year colleges, New Jersey also has a strong network of two-year community colleges and trade school options . Many New Jersey community colleges offer a 3+1 opportunity to help college students save money. These programs allow students to spend two years getting an associate’s degree and an extra year in community college completing university coursework before transferring to a four-year institution for their last year to get a bachelor’s degree.

Here at Niche, we can help you connect with the New Jersey college that best fits your needs and future career goals.

We’re excited you want to return to Ramapo College! We welcome back former students  looking to resume their studies at Ramapo. If you’re ready to finish what you started, we’re here to support you through the re-enrollment process.

Ramapo

Are you a former student looking to return to Ramapo?

Many different people are returning to Ramapo for a variety of reasons. Determine which of the following best aligns with your situation.

If you have been absent for one semester and plan to return the following semester, you do not need to reapply. For example, if you only took off the fall term but plan to return in the spring, there is no need to reapply, and you can log into Web Self Service to register for courses. If you began your absence in the last five years and have been gone for two or more semesters, follow the steps for returning below and reapply for admission. Contact Nicole Pedoto in our Admissions Office for more information or assistance.

Need assistance? Contact Nicole Pedoto E-mail: [email protected] Phone: (201) 684-7572 Office: McBride House/Office of Admissions

If you’d like to re-enroll to Ramapo after an academic or disciplinary suspension or dismissal, follow the steps for returning below. You must also submit a Petition to Return before you can be admitted. Contact Jessica Steinheimer in the Center for Student Success to begin the process.

Need assistance? Contact Jessica Steinheimer E-mail: [email protected] Phone: (201) 684-7438 Office: D207

If you have been absent for five or more years follow the steps for returning below to reapply for admission. Contact Patricia Laprey, Director of the Degree Completion Program, to discuss your options for resuming your studies.

Who is considered a returning student?

You’re a returning student if:.

  • You are a degree-seeking student who was previously matriculated, took classes at Ramapo College, and then left for more than two consecutive semesters.
  • You are a student who left on academic action, such as probation and/or suspension and now would like to return to Ramapo.

You’re not a returning student if:

  • You have submitted an application in the past but never attended classes at Ramapo College.
  • You have never attended Ramapo College as a fully matriculated degree-seeking student.
  • You took Ramapo courses through your high school through Dual Enrollment.
  • You have earned an undergraduate or graduate degree from Ramapo College.

Steps for returning to Ramapo

The first step is always to re-apply, sooner rather than later!

Click the “Apply Now” button below and apply using the Ramapo College application under “Transfer, Readmit, or Adult,” choosing the “readmit” option. If you’ve forgotten your login, you can create a new account or contact the Admissions Office.

Returning students will have their application fee waived and will not need to provide letters of recommendation or test scores.

There are two common admissions holds. Students who left Ramapo in poor academic standing due to a low GPA might have an academic hold. Students who left Ramapo with an outstanding bill might have a financial hold.

Concerned about your academic standing? Reach out to the Center for Student Success for next steps.

Concerned about your financial standing? Reach out to the Office of Student Accounts for next steps.

If you would like to apply for financial aid, fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for financial aid consideration.

If you had financial aid before you withdrew and were not in compliance with the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy, you will need to fill out a Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal . Access an SAP Appeal Form at https://www.ramapo.edu/finaid/policies/ .

Please contact the Office of Financial Aid if you have questions about this process or your SAP eligibility.

Returning students who have studied at other institutions since their time at Ramapo College may be able to transfer credits. Students will need to send official copies of those transcripts to the Office of Admissions for evaluation.

What’s next?

Things may have changed since your time at Ramapo, all re-enrolling students are required to participate in a modified orientation process and meet one-on-one with an advisor regarding registration and other concerns. Check your Ramapo email for updates and information about these procedures.

Have you heard about our Fresh Start program?

Ramapo’s Fresh Start Program enables students to reset their GPA as a step towards achieving academic success. Complete the Fresh Start Inquiry form to speak with an Advisor who can help determine if Fresh Start is right for you: Fresh Start Inquiry Form .

Have you heard about our Degree Completion Program?

Are you a returning student who needs evening classes? Check out our degree completion program for working professionals. For more information check out our Degree Completion Program or our Adult Degree Completion Program .

Apply anytime, the earlier the better so we can help get you on track to start classes.

Part-time students are registered for less than 12 credits, full-time students are registered for 12-18 credits.

Yes, your previous Ramapo credits remain valid and active on your transcript.

Yes, you will be able to switch your major or program after meeting with your Student Success advisor.
