Access The main road into the park from Nairobi is via Namanga (240km) on the Nairobi-Arusha road, through Meshanani gate.

Accommodation Total Tents: 72 comprising of:-

– 50 Classic Safari Tents each with a double and single bed and large private balcony – 10 Superior Safari tent with four poster double beds with enlarged bathrooms with lion claw bath tubs – 12 lodge rooms each with a double and single bed and large private balcony

Facilities The camp has an open general public area offering bar and dinning services. There will be a nature room with wildlife information and a place for guest lecture. There is a free form swimming pool and a massage center also.

The camp will have 4 wheel drive vehicles with driver guides. A clinic with resident nurse will be available to guest.

Dining Kilima Safari Camp offers a central dining and bar area.

Buffet style meals are taken in the central open air restaurant which has an adjoining bar.

Activities Guest lectures – Our local naturalist is available to give guests free lectures and local Masai dancers also entertain clients in the evening

Nature walks – For a small charge, Masai Morans are available to take clients on game walks allowing them to walk freely enjoying the openness and beauty of the park.

Kilima safari camp  Amboseli is a mid range  accommodation (4 star)  situated next to Kimana gate park entrance  of Amboseli national park  in Kenya. The camp is outside amboseli  park , set on 360 acres of landscape with a stunning view of mount Kilimanjaro . It takes 278km (4 hours) drive from Nairobi via Namanga.  The park is  big  covering  3000  square km area in Kenya and across the borders of Tanzania. You can  either be in the park by road or  air  transport which takes about  240km  driving  Nairobi -arusha road through Meshanani gate and 228Km on Nairobi -mombasa road  and 45 minutes to fly from Nairobi to close airstrip amboseli .    . The camp is convenient and affordable to guests visiting the park   with its breathtaking views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and surrounding areas.

Kilima safari camp  Amboseli consists of  72 beautiful  and comfortable tents   built in African traditional  style   with modern comfort.  Rooms well decorated and furnished with privacy and tranquility.   Each room has its own private en -suite facilities like flushing toilets ,  Mosquito nets , air conditioning , Flat screen TV’s ,  hair driers  , hot/cold running showers/bathtubs etc . Rooms have verandas, sitting areas  and  private balconies with a cozy atmosphere , you relax while overlooking the beautiful  view of  mount Kilimanjaro  ,the park and animals visiting the park  . The camp have excellent  and  comfortable  rooms  with  clean and  washed  beddings.  Rooms  are in different categories and size; single ,double ,twins and triple rooms.  The camp has  fireplaces  that  provides warmth to clients during nights. Rooms cost 300$ and above per night. But prices differ in different season where in peak season the price goes slightly high.

Kilima Safari Camp lies 250 km South of Nairobi (four hour drive) and is a 20-minute drive from the Amboseli Airstrip .

The Kimana area of Amboseli is famous for its large elephant population and guests can enjoy great game viewing from their tents which face the Animal water pools all public areas and guest rooms are set towards Mount Kilimanjaro.

Kilima Safari Camp Amboseli has 72 elegantly furnished guestrooms/ tents comprising 50 classic tents, 10 superior tents, and 12 lodge rooms. The classic tents and lodge rooms are fitted with double and single beds and large private balconies.

The superior tents have 4 poster double beds with enlarged bathrooms with lion-claw bathtubs. Bathrooms in the guestrooms/ tents have double basins with a distinct shower area and dressing counters.

Kibo Safari Camp has 73 self-contained tents for single, double, triple and family accommodation. The beds have been custom designed and locally made using bush logs and will ensure a good night’s sleep! All tents have flush toilets, showers, and wash basins. You can enjoy your shower as you like: bubbling hot or refreshing cold. For the duration of your stay in the African bush, Kibo Safari Camp will be your home away from home!

Dine in our open terraced restaurant set under acacia trees overlooking the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro. Our fruits & vegetables are served fresh as they are picked from our very own farm. Our camp chef will pamper you with fine cuisines for all tastes.

Maasai Dances

In the evenings, Masaai morans entertain our guests at the bonfire with their traditional dances and will give you fascinating insights into their ancient culture. Why not join in the fun and challenge your hosts to a high-jump competition!

Cultural Tours

You will be taken by van to a Maasai village where you will spend the day visiting the ‘manyattas’ and experience their way of life. The Maasai people are an old nomadic tribe that lives in harmony with nature and is one of the few remaining tribes in Kenya that tries to hold on to their traditions. This is at an extra fee payable direct to the Maasai moran (Maasai guide) before the tour begins.

Game Drives

Amboseli’s fragile ecosystem displays an impressive wildlife variety, with more than 50 mammal species. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to free-ranging elephants among other wildlife species. Amboseli, meaning “salty dust” in maa, the language of the Maasai, is a place of stark contrast. The park provides the classic Hollywood image of Africa. Set in rolling savannah scenery the park is dwarfed by the presence of the pink-tinged, snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Kibo is special. This lovely gem nestled in the Amboseli National Park caters for the traveller who wants to enjoy nature in all its fullness. Their are tents as well as lodge rooms which give you a sense that you are in the wild-and still with all the proper necessities one needs e.g. hot water, mosquito nets and every tent has a veranda outside that faces Africa’s highest mountain. Was referred to the place by their Facebook page that has adequate information and I have to admit, my time there was nothing but lovely. I enjoyed the food too as well as their highly refreshing swimming pool.

“Great place to stay”

I’ve been here twice now and for good reason. The tents are roomy, well appointed, and clean. The grounds offer a few places to stretch the legs and a pool. The food is excellent and varied, and it tends to be a little busier than other camps, which I enjoy as it keeps the atmosphere lively while never feeling crowded. We happened to be there over Christmas and the festive dinners and vibe were great! Lots of fun.

HOW TO GET THERE

  There are several routes to Kibo Safari Camp:

Emali Route (a 4-hour drive from Nairobi):

• Proceed on MOMBASA ROAD A109 to EMALI TOWN
• From EMALI TOWN turn right on to C102 going towards OLOITOKTOK.
• Continue for 114km on C102 to KIMANA TOWN ( please note:   passing through the Eremito gate incurs park entry fees).
• After KIMANA TOWN turn right on to C103 going to KIMANA GATE, AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK.
• Continue on C103 for 22km.
• Once at KWS KIMANA GATE turn left and drive for 1.5 km. KIBO is on the left-hand side.

Via Namanga (not advisable):

This is a 4 1/2 hour drive from Nairobi, approximately 278 kms.

It’s a 45 minutes flight from Wilson Airport landing at Amboseli Airstrip at Amboseli National Park.
