Lately, traveling has become a vital part of our lifestyle. We now understand the importance of investing in experiences over materialistic things. Resultantly, travel has become an important theme for Bollywood filmmakers too.

We already have an ultimate list of the best travel movies of all time . But, this list doesn’t include Bollywood movies. So, I thought of curating a list of the most loved travel movies in Bollywood for all those Bollywood fans.

Best Bollywood Travel Movies of All Time

#1 zindagi na milegi dobara (2011).

This one’s my all-time favorite. I’ve watched it like 10 times or more (actually I’ve lost count). I never get tired of it. It’s that amazing. So we will have to begin our list of Best Indian travel movies with this film.

3 best friends. 1 EPIC road trip. All things awesome!

ZNMD is about three friends who set on a bachelor’s trip to Spain (which they had planned during their college) to overcome their fears. They inspire the viewers to plan a Spanish vacation as they road-tripped from Barcelona to Costa Brava to Seville to Buñol to Pamplona enjoying the famous La Tomatina Festival and taking on adventures like deep-sea diving, skydiving, and a bull run along the way.

I added the ultimate road trip through Spain to my Europe bucket list before even the movie was finished. The movie has all the ingredients to revive the traveler in you. This is one of the inviting Bollywood road trip movies that will want you to pack your bags and head off.

There are a few movies that make you fall in love with your life, and ZNMD is one of those!

#2 Queen (2013)

Queen inspires all the girls out there to drop their fears, take a call, and travel solo at least once in their lifetime. The movie is about a girl who embarks on a solo trip to Paris which was supposed to be her honeymoon trip.

Rani, the main protagonist falls in love with herself while wandering around the gorgeous streets of Paris and Amsterdam . The movie beautifully redefined the concept of solo travel. The journeys we take by ourselves are the journeys we take into ourselves, indeed.

#3 Dil Chahta Hai (2001)

This is the movie that I watched with my best friends and yes we were living the movie while watching it. This for sure remains one of the best travel movies in Bollywood. Any youngster who watches this movie can’t help but crave to take a road trip to Goa with friends. With a beautiful storyline of how three friends discover the beauty of their friendship and life while on a trip to Goa, the movie set a record.

Dil Chahta Hai features quaint beach towns, golden-sand beaches, palm-fringed coastlines, back-country spice farms, quintessential churches and forts, and mouth-watering Goa Cuisine. This movie has contributed a lot to tourism in Goa. The movie also showcases the iconic city of Sydney, Australia .

#4 Swades (2004)

All the NRI (Non-Resident Indians) would be able to relate to the movie Swades which will make them teary-eyed. It is a movie about an NRI played by Shahrukh Khan, who works in NASA and comes to India to discover his roots. He wants to take his nanny to the US along with him.

He takes on the journey on a luxury caravan that he rides and takes through rustic rural India and shows the warmth of people. It showcases the beautiful and vibrant culture of India and the value system that we believe in.

This movie would surely be nostalgic for many living far away from their homeland and remaining in the dilemma of returning back.

Imtiaz Ali never fails to charm his viewers. The Highway is a film about a girl who’s kidnapped and put in a truck that travels to Kashmir via Delhi , Punjab , Haryana , Rajasthan , and Himachal Pradesh . The movie beautifully brings out the beauty of freedom through this Bollywood road trip movie.

The snow-clad mountains, crystal-clear rivers, lush green landscape, tiny hamlets of Pahalgam , Aru Valley , Spiti , and the highways of North India – the movie captures the essence of travel in India.

#6 Tamasha (2015)

Another gem from Imtiaz Ali. Tamasha transports you to the beautiful French island of Corsica .

From Turquoise blue waters and stunning bays, to rugged peaks, gorgeous landscapes, medieval charm, and everything in between, the movie captures Corsica in a way that this breathtaking island becomes your bucket list destination.

#7 Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. (2007)

#8 Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995)

DDLJ, a directorial debut by Aditya Chopra, made me fall in love with the Swiss Alps and has been a dream destination that I wish to visit with my husband.

The story revolves around the love story of a boy and girl, both NRI living in London who meet on a vacation in Europe with their friends. They both travel on the Eurostar with their friends to exotic locations of Zweissimen , Gstaad , Jungfrau , and Interlaken .

This is one film that even lists 1001 movies that you must watch before you die. Can you believe the movie ran in a theater in Maharashtra for more than 20 years?

#9 Dil Dhadakne Do (2015)

This movie made me fall in love with cruise trips. Ayesha plans a 10-day cruise sailing through Turkey , Tunisia , Egypt , Spain , Italy , and France to celebrate her parent’s anniversary and the trip connects the dysfunctional family through a series of experiences.

It’s so exciting to see the characters exploring a new country every day! Being on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean can be insanely gorgeous and intensely cathartic. The visuals are inspiring and capture the essence of each country – the vibe and the culture.

#10 Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013)

The movie charms its viewers with the adorable characters of Naina and Bunny, the breathtaking landscapes of Kashmir , and the royal vibe of Rajasthan .

The first half of the movie showcases the characters enjoying hiking the snow-covered Himalayas and the second half takes you through the magnificent forts and palaces of Rajasthan.

It gives some serious destination wedding goals. They can be so much fun. The movie has that feel-good factor. It beautifully motivates people to take time to travel and spend time with friends.

#11 Jab We Met (2007)

This is another movie I never get tired of watching. With an engaging storyline, incredible actors, and a mind-boggling and life-changing journey through various cities and towns ( Ratlam , Kota , Bhatinda , Manali , and Shimla ) in India by different modes like a train, bus, rickshaw, cycle, jeep, and even truck, Jab We Met is a delight for eyes as well as the soul.

I took a trip to Rohtang Pass after seeing the snowy landscapes and a narrow road with snowy walls on either side of Rohtang Pass in Jab We Met. Such road trip movies in Bollywood do inspire you to add them to your bucket list. The two protagonists, Geet and Aditya look so adorable together that you can’t get enough of them.

I realized that trips that don’t have a plan and are spontaneous can be so much fun(risky though but hey life’s all about taking risks). Sometimes, it’s good to have no plan 🙂

#12 Piku (2015)

With a tale of a complicated yet beautiful father-daughter relationship, Piku touches hearts. The movie is set in the capital city of India. The road trip from Delhi to Kolkata en route to the spiritual city of Varanasi is the soul of the movie.

The trip brings out the differences between the lead actors (father and daughter) eventually bonding them by the end of the journey.

The quaint charm of Varanasi and the old-world charm of Kolkata will tickle the traveler in you.

#13 Anjaana Anjaani (2010)

Anjaana Anjaani is an intriguing tale about two heartbroken people who met just when they were about to end their lives and decided to live life to the fullest before ending their lives. Together, they embark on a road trip from New York to Las Vegas .

It’s all about a road trip across India’s royal state of Rajasthan . Road, Movie features Rajasthan in its raw form and attracts backpackers and travelers across the world to embark on a soul-stirring journey across Rajasthan.

Road, Movie is a story of a boy Vishnu who journeys across Rajasthan to deliver an antique truck that belongs to his father to a local museum.

#15 Barfi (2012)

This coming-of-age movie is set in West Bengal’s picturesque hill station of Darjeeling . You are sure to be charmed by the heartfelt story and stunning locations as Barfi, the protagonist cycles through Darjeeling’s charming streets featuring rolling tea estates, lush green forests, and mist-covered peaks.

Remember that song ‘Masti Ki Pathshala’ from the movie? It was shot at the baoli in Nahargarh Fort in Jaipur . The gorgeous canals, charming cobbled streets, and medieval buildings made me fall in love with Bruges . Did you know PK is the first Bollywood movie shot in Bruges?

The movie also takes you through some of the most intriguing sites in Delhi like Agrasen ki Baoli , Chandni Chowk , Connaught Place , and the colorful countryside town of Rajasthan , Mandwa . You’ll get a taste of the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan.

#25 Fanaa (2006)

I loved Fanaa. It features the stunning heritage sites in Delhi and the other-worldly beauty of Kashmir . The movie beautifully captures the best of both destinations.

In the first half of the movie, you’ll see the main protagonists exploring the architectural wonders in Delhi – Red Fort, Qutub Minar , Humayun’s Tomb , India Gate , and Purana Qila .

Lootera is a story set in the ’50s. The daughter of an aristocrat falls in love with a visiting archeologist from West Bengal without knowing a secret his life holds. It’s shot in quaint and laid-back locations in India – Khajjiar , Dalhousie , and Manikpur, West Bengal .

The snow-clad mountains, colorful wooden houses, lush meadows, striking deodar forests, and pretty lakes – Khajjiar pulls you as you appreciate the beauty it holds with every scene.

You can enjoy iconic sights and attractions in New York from Central Park, and Times Square to Brooklyn Bridge, and Fifth Avenue. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, ‘Sardar Udham’ is a biopic based on the life of Sardar Udham Singh, an Indian freedom fighter hailing from Punjab. Singh assassinated Michael O’Dwyer in London on March 13, 1940. Love the fact I am still around: actor Mona Singh on her 20-year journey

New Delhi, One can't change the past, only celebrate it because of their choices and actor Mona Singh says she is just grateful for her career of 20 years, a journey she started with the superhit TV show "Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin", for giving her "these beautiful glory days".

That three of her web series Prime Video's "Made in Heaven" season two, "Kaala Paani" on Netflix, and SonyLIV's "Kafas" released to acclaim last year when she completed two decades in the industry made the milestone year "extra special".

Singh, who also has films such as "3 Idiots", "Laal Singh Chaddha", and the upcoming "Munjya" to her credit, said she is happy to play characters with different shades across mediums.

"The next step is always forward, the past is gone. You can't change it, you can celebrate it because of the choices that you have made. I'm very happy these 20 years in this industry have been so fruitful. The industry has been so giving and accepting. I love the fact I am still around and I'm now exploring OTT and films.

"All the releases that I had last year just made 2023 extra special. All three were loved and what was even better was that all characters were so different from one another. I'm just so grateful about these beautiful glory days that I'm witnessing. It is true that good things come to those who wait," Singh told PTI in an interview.

She's now having fun exploring the horror comedy genre with "Munjya", a film set in Pune and the Konkan region, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar.

"I am so happy about the fact that I'm getting to explore all different genres as an actor. This was a first for me and we shot in some very beautiful, pristine locations in the Konkan region. The script is amazing and so funny."

Rooted in Marathi folklore, "Munjya" follows the story of the eponymous mythical creature and how he wreaks havoc in the life of Bittu, played by Abhay Verma of "The Family Man" fame.

In the film, Singh plays Pummy, a single working mother who is overly protective of Bittu.

The 42-year-old said she and Sarpotdar worked closely to add "more layers" to her character in "Munjya", which she described as a "sweet, family story".

"She runs a salon, she's independent, fierce, and very possessive about her son. She doesn't want her son to go out and explore the world because she is possessive about him as a single mother."

Singh became one of the favourite faces on Indian television during heyday as the nerdy, dependable and erudite Jasmeet Walia aka Jassi in the early 2000s.

She has fond memories of the show and also remembers feeling scared before her onscreen "makeover" in the much loved Sony TV show.

The Chandigarh-born actor said even her fans were "shocked" when her bespectacled Jassi got contact lenses and her braces and fringes went away. She was, however, happy that the makeover was shot organically.

"It was not like she transformed into a new person overnight. It was well shot. The fringes went away, she got the lenses then the braces went away. So it was gradual. I was also very nervous about my makeover. My first show was 'Jassi...' and I got to face the camera as 'Jassi' which was in a garb. So I was feeling somewhere very protected.

"But then when the channel announced that we have planned a makeover, suddenly, I was feeling all those butterflies in my stomach. I didn't know how people would take it. How am I going to be in front of the camera as myself because I'd never faced the camera as myself? All the nervousness that I had worked for the show and for the makeover," she recalled.

Six years after her first TV show, Singh headed towards the big screen and starred in 2009's superhit film "3 Idiots", directed by Rajkumar Hirani and headlined by Aamir Khan. She and Khan reunited for the 2022 movie "Laal Singh Chaddha", the official Hindi adaptation of the 1994 Hollywood hit "Forrest Gump".

Working with Khan in "Laal Singh Chaddha" was like a "life coming full circle" moment, she said.

"It rarely happens with actors that you get to do two films with Aamir Khan because he's so selective about the kind of work he does and his movies come out once in three-four years. One really has to wait it out. And it's happened to me twice in my career. So I feel very lucky."

Their bond only deepened while working on "Laal Singh Chaddha", directed by Advait Chandan.

"There is a special bond because we were together shooting for 'Laal Singh...' throughout the pandemic and all the changes we witnessed as actors and as people. That connection is so strong with Aamir sir that it's going to stay for a lifetime. I have immense love and respect for him as a person and as an artist on set," she added.

Singh is also an avid traveller and a dreamer. The actor has been busy with work and promotions in the past two years and soon hopes to go on a getaway with her husband, filmmaker Shyam Rajagopalan.

"I want to go deep sea diving again. That is also on my wish list. And work wise, I can't complain at all... I'm very excited about all my releases."

Singh will next be seen in web series "Paan Parda Zarda" from "Mirzapur" director Gurmmeet Singh and Prime Video's "Ma Ka Sum".

"Munjya", also starring Sharvari and Sathyaraj, hits the screens on Friday.

While some avid K-drama fans are comfortable watching the series in Korean with subtitles, others rely on dubbed versions of these dramas. Many of these 2024 K-dramas on Netflix have Hindi-dubbed versions for viewers fluent in this language to comfortably watch their favorite series.

The 8 Show follows the story of eight individuals who get invited to compete in a reality show. Chicken Nugget

Chicken Nugget premiered on March 15, 2024, and follows the story of a woman, Choi Min-Ah ( Kim Yoo-Jung ), who transforms into a chicken nugget after entering a mysterious machine. From Bollywood to Lok Sabha — Tracing Kangana Ranaut’s journey of bigotry and hate

Everyone knows who Kangana Ranaut is; you may know her from her roles in Fashion and Queen , or because of her controversial (an understatement) anti-minority, right-wing views, or most recently, you may know her because she just won the Mandi seat as a member of parliament (MP) from the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in the Indian election.

But how did Ranaut transition from a controversial Bollywood starlet — who infamously picked fights with Hrithik Roshan — to an MP for potentially one of the most bigoted parties in the world? Let’s start at the beginning.

Born in Bhambla, Himachal Pradesh, Ranaut made her film debut in the 2006 thriller Gangster . Within a few years, Ranaut gained critical acclaim for her powerful portrayals of emotionally complex characters, especially for her role as a model addicted to cocaine in Fashion alongside Priyanka Chopra.

While her career went through highs and lows like any actor’s does, it was outside the realm of acting that Ranaut garnered attention from the media — negative and positive.

In 2016, Roshan filed a lawsuit against Ranaut for stalking him and allegedly sending him over 1,000 emails, most of them “senseless, personal, and absurd”. He also sought an apology from Ranaut for calling him her “silly ex”. The Tanu Weds Manu actor filed a lawsuit in response, claiming that Roshan was attempting to cover up his divorce and that he hacked into her mailbox to delete incriminating exchanges.

A little absurd, but nothing unheard of in the world of entertainment.

Perhaps one of the only slightly agreeable things Ranaut did was call out nepotism in the industry. She dubbed Karan Johar as the “flag bearer of nepotism” in Bollywood and said he was part of the “movie mafia”.

After the suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput, Ranaut tweeted blaming nepotism and Bollywood insiders for driving the actor to his death. According to the BBC , she said he was an “outsider” like her who had no “godfathers” in the industry, and that powerful Bollywood families and directors had “systematically sabotaged” his career.

But even in sensitive situations, Ranaut could not rein her pessimism in, as she launched a smear campaign against Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty — whom his family accused of abetting his suicide — calling her “a small-time druggie who was living off a vulnerable and broken, self-made superstar”. While we’re all entitled to our opinions, defaming someone who had not been indicted by a court and did not hold the same power as Ranaut, was a harsh move. As Chakraborty faced online harassment from Indian journalists and social media trolls, Ranaut only fuelled the fire with her remarks.

Once labelled a feminist for her stand against the old Bollywood guard and her powerful roles, Ranaut’s misogyny was evident when she spoke of her women colleagues. She called Urmila Matondkar “a soft-porn star”, Sonam Kapoor a “mafia bimbo”, and Swara Bhaskar and Richa Chadha “B-grade actresses”.

“Kangana Ranaut is a fine actor who was once known for her craft and her courage, but has now allowed that courage to degenerate into self-promotion and sexist attacks on women she disagrees with and the single-minded pursuit of a right-wing agenda,” said journalist and film critic Anna MM Vetticad in an interview .

In 2021, Ranaut’s Twitter account was suspended for repeated violations of the platform’s hateful conduct rules and for “behaviour that has the potential to lead to offline harm”. In tweets made before the suspension, the actor had been very vocal about the alleged violence in West Bengal after the election results were declared.

After the BJP managed to secure only 77 constituencies, Ranaut demanded the state elections be rejected by the BJP government, and that presidential law be declared in West Bengal. She tried to legitimise her claim by saying that previous Indian presidents had done it, providing the necessary framework for the Modi regime to follow suit.

She returned to the platform when the ban against her was lifted in January 2023 after Elon Musk took over the micro-blogging site.

Her hate speech doesn’t end there. In April 2020, a police complaint was filed against Ranaut for referring to Muslims as “terrorists” in a video supporting her sister, whose Twitter handle was suspended for a violent and genocidal call for shooting down Muslims, The Business Standard reported .

Bigotry must run in the family, because Ranaut’s hate-mongering sister tweeted, “make these mullas + secular media stand in a line and shoot them dead…f**k the history they may call us nazis who cares, life is more imp than fake image”.

In October of the same year, the hateful duo were booked by Bandra police for sedition and promoting enmity between different groups. A Mumbai court ordered an inquiry against them for their derogatory tweets against Muslims.

Her disdain for Muslims extends to her Bollywood colleagues, of course. If there’s one thing Ranaut doesn’t do, is discriminate when it comes to hate. In 2023, she tweeted : “This country has only and only loved all Khans and at times only and only Khans…And obsessed over Muslim actresses, so it’s very unfair to accuse India of hate and fascism … there is no country like Bharat in the whole world.”

This statement is rich, to say the least, because Bollywood’s — and perhaps the world’s — biggest actor Shahrukh Khan once wrote that sometimes he became “the inadvertent object of political leaders who choose to make me a symbol of all that they think is wrong and unpatriotic about Muslims in India”. Muslim actors, especially the Khans, face a lot of pressure to prove their patriotism and constantly face anti-Muslim trolling on social media. People like Ranaut, who have right-wing journalists and BJP supporters hanging on her every word, reinforce this ideology.

Moreover, the India of today is not what it was 30 years ago, with Modi’s hardline Hindutva narratives permeating Indian society and increasing hostility to Indian Muslims. Again, Ranaut — now a member of parliament — is only making the situation worse.

Yes, she hates women, actors, Muslims and Muslim actors (God forbid if you’re a woman Muslim actor), but did you know — Ranaut hates the powerless too! This is peak irony because, you know, she is a politician. In October 2021, the Karnataka Police filed a first information report against the actor for her calling farmers protesting the Indian government’s new agriculture laws “terrorists”, The Business Standard reported.

Recently, Ranaut met with Israeli Ambassador to India Naor Gilon in Dehli. In an Instagram caption, the actor stated that “the whole world, especially Israel and India, are fighting their war against terrorism. Yesterday when I reached Delhi for Ravana Dahan, I felt that I should come to Israel Embassy and meet the people who are defeating today’s modern Ravana [the multi-headed king who serves as the primary antagonist in the Hindu epic Ramayana] and terrorists like Hamas. The way small children and women are being targeted is heart-wrenching. I have full hope that Israel will be victorious in this war against terrorism”.

With over 40,000 Palestinians killed due to Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, it makes perfect sense for Ranaut to side with the oppressor. After all, that is who she usually aligns herself with.

We could list every horribly hateful thing she’s done and said, but that would be a 10,000-word dissertation our readers do not deserve to read.

Instead, let us take you through her strange political career, leading up to her victory as an MP.

It all started in 2018, when Ranaut met Modi — yes we know, this sounds like the title of a trashy Bollywood rom-com no one would watch. Ranaut revealed her support and admiration for the Indian premier, taking many by surprise. According to The Quint , Ranaut said, “I am a big Modi fan because of his success story. As a young woman, I do believe that we need to have the right role models. I mean the graph and the ambition of an ordinary man and whenever we have a PM who is a chaiwala , then I always say that it is not his victory but it is the victory of our democracy. I feel he is the right role model.”

Prior to this, the publication reported that Ranaut had not expressed any interest in politics and her decision to publicly support a highly controversial political leader was quite significant and alienated a large portion of her liberal followers.

One of Bollywood’s leading voices for the underdog and against nepotism was now supporting peddlers of hate, violence and Hindu supremacy at the cost of minority oppression. It became evident that Ranaut did not care much for the underdog and the subjugated — she cared about her own opinions and victories. In her eyes, she would always be the victim.

The Quint detailed that Ranaut built a new temple in her home town, thereby further pushing the BJP’s Hindutva ideologies. “The message was clear — she was still a warrior for the underdog and the small towner, but preference would be given to Hindus.”

Meanwhile, her social media team began working overtime to push her image as a Hindu nationalist, a real patriot. She called veteran actor Shabana Azmi an ‘anti-nationalist’ after Azmi and Javed Akhtar cancelled a trip to Karachi in the wake of the Pulwama attacks.

She also urged Modi to ban iftar during the month of Ramazan. Lest you forget, India is home to over 172 million Muslims.

Of course, a pre-requisite to be part of the BJP is hating Pakistan. You can’t be a right-wing Indian politician without hating big, bad Pakistan. Ranaut has played that role to perfection — and why wouldn’t she, she hates literally everyone (except herself and Modi-Ji, apparently), so Pakistan must be on the list. After a Pakistani official said Pakistan was not wearing churiyan (bangles) and possessed a nuclear weapon, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar released a video saying talks with Pakistan are necessary to put an end to terrorism otherwise it would think that India was trying to belittle Pakistan.

Ranaut had a sassy reply geared up, “ Vo kehte hain, Pakistan ne churiyan nahi pehni hain… arrey bhai, nahin pehni hai to hum pehna denge [They say Pakistan is not wearing bangles… if Pakistan is not wearing bangles, we will make them wear it].” She added that she was aware that Pakistan did not have electricity and flour but wasn’t aware it didn’t have bangles either. Keeping it real classy and diplomatic, Ranaut.

She added that India did not want an unstable and weak Congress government headed by a frightened prime minister.

When you’re promoting jingoistic, anti-Muslim, anti-Pakistan and anti-everyone-but-the-majority rhetoric, you gain some haters yes, but you often gain even more supporters. Ranaut’s new colours garnered her rapid support from right-wing Indians and supporters of the BJP.

Her sheer hate made her the perfect candidate. She was the people’s hate, the very picture of the ideal BJP woman, coming from a humble background like the chaiwala premier she so admires.

In March 2024, the BJP declared her a candidate for the general elections which she would contest from the Mandi constituency. Today, it was announced that Ranaut won the seat in a landslide victory with a margin of over 55,000 votes.
