Very Best Geo Tour on the Big Island of Hawaii

Zane found his calling. He is incredibly well educated in geology, has traveled the world and knowledgeable about not only the local history, but the flora and fauna of the island too. And he is super personable and able to keep all 10 of interested for almost twelve hours of the day. We conversed about what we wanted to see on a big scale and he narrowed it to specifics based on weather, crowds and our groups patience. He was a saint. If you want to enjoy the very best island tour and get educated on the land and history, hire Zane and you will write the next five star review!

One of the best tours ever

What an excellent way to get to know the Big Island and learn about its unique place on Earth. Our tour guide Eric picked us up on time at our rented villa along with a number of other visitors and we proceeded to spend one of the better days on a tour of the island. Eric is one of the proprietors of the tour, is a degreed geologist and is truly an engaging and friendly person. The tour was excellent which combined both interesting sights and a tremendous amount of local knowledge about lava flows and local history. To say that this was worth the day spent would be to put it mildly. Even at twice the price, I would happily do this again and recommend the tour to anyone.

Zane was incredibly knowledgeable about the island! If you want to go on a tour with a geologist, this is the one to take!! As a privately owned company, he was able to hit all of the major island highlights as well as take us to places on the island that other tour companies don’t visit. We learned so much about the history of the island and the volcanos on the island all while having a fantastic time! HIGHLY recommend!!

We couldn’t have made a better choice!!! Definitely the guides know their stuff, from history of the island and its people to the geological topics that kept me entertained throughout the trip. We just about went around the island in vip style, the guys were well known everywhere they took us as well as knew their way. Will recommend it to a few friends that are planning to visit the island, it’s a must in your itinerary and couldn’t have made a better choice in tour guide services

Hawaii Geo Tours are the best!

Wow! Fantastic tour of the erupting volcano!!! The guides are geologists and explained so much about the volcano and how all the Hawaiian islands were created. The pictures I got during the day, and especially at night were incredible! The food and winery tasting were good too. I’ve done this tour twice in the past year and recommend it highly! I wish I could give more than 5 stars!!! 🤙

Dave was a great guide. Very informative tour. I really enjoyed the geological aspect and lots of information on how the islands were formed and keep growing. Many interesting stops along the way including a walk through a lava tube. Very cool! Great experience!

Geo adventure family trip for the win!

David has a vast knowledge of so much of the island it’s amazing and he charmed us with a ton a factoids the whole day. Highly recommend if you are short on time on the island but want to see as much as you can in little time.

Best Island Tour!

A must tour experience! Such an incredible day. What is unique about This tour, is how much you learn about the island formation and the flexibility in where he takes you! We traveled with friends and booked the VIP tour…if you can swing it, definitely put Geotours on your itinerary! Erik will not disappoint. You can see that he is passionate about the island and what he does. Mingled well with our group, lots of laughs, great energy and had a BLAST!!!

Excellent trip to Volcano National Park. The owner and tour guide is a geologist and had a ton of information to share with us. We saw things we have not seen in the past trips. An excellent trip! Highly recommend!

Eric was the best tour guide ever. We had the best day! He was able to answer all of our questions - with thoughtful and elaborate answers, accommodate to all of our needs, and brought us to out-of-the-box places that not many tours go! He helped us understand so much about the history of the Big Island - left the touring feeling like I had an enormous amount of new knowledge! He was such a friendly and nice guy - you have to pick his tour for the best day ever!

Amazing tour to Pele, the active Volcano with a real Geologist. We learned so much about how the islands were formed due to the volcanos. We also walked through a lava tube. Our guide was a geologist and he explained a lot. Stops included a coffee farm, the black sand beach and turtle sanctuary and on the way back from the Volcano we saw the Rainbow waterfall in Hilo.

The Volcano National Park Adventure from Kona is a fabulous way to see much of the island of Hawaii. David was so knowledgeable about the island and willing to share throughout the 12 hr. tour. We visited Heavenly Coffee, Black Sands Beach, Volcano National Park, Hilo, Rainbow Falls, and the lava tubes. But in between those stops, David gave us much history of the island, the people who settled here, the difference between the Kona and the Hilo sides of the island, and the relationship of Hawaii to the other Hawaiian islands and the mainland. The lunch was delicious. David made this a fun day with games and quizzes. He was careful that everyone was keeping up. This is a very good way to learn all about the island, but instead of exploring on your own, David is there to help you learn and enjoy the day!! Highly recommended for all adults and kids 10 and over.

Wife and I loved the tour, would highly recommend for those that want a guided tour of the island (coffee plantation, volcanos, surrounding sites) Very knowledgeable tour. Thorough explanations about the islands and volcanos. Able to answer plenty of questions about different lava flows, sea arches, and best spots to camp/hike. Arranged an included Hawaiian hot meal lunch, which is unique from other tours. The time at lunch gave us all time to catch-up on discussions from the van and ask questions about the upcoming sights. Also had snacks and drinks prepared and ready at every rest point of the tour.

The Volcano National Park adventure is actually more similar to what I would expect a circle tour of the island to be, as you see not just the volcanoes but also a coffee farm, black sand beach, and Rainbow Falls, one of the biggest (if not biggest) waterfalls on the island. The black sand beach is amazing. If you're lucky you'll get a peek at some lava flowing at the volcano but don't expect it, it's pretty off and on. The drive is pretty long, as you probably spend around three hours in the van at least, if not more. But the tour guide David could easily talk the whole time, sharing facts, stories, without anyone asking questions, although he can answer most of those too. Lunch is pretty solid and you eat at a restaurant with a view of the volcano. Something to be aware of is that the ride on the way involves a pretty curvy road so if you're prone to getting motion sickness, consider taking some meds before or planning accordingly. Overall great experience!

We had a wonderful tour with Zane! He is a geologist and very informative about the Island, Hawaiian history and culture as well as the volcanos and lava fields. Provided lots of little extras without the nickel-and-diming. Very considerate of physical limitations of some of our party. Great experience!!

This Geo Tour was a highlight of our Hawaii vacation! Zane met us at our cruise port and spent the whole day taking us around the Big Island while explaining what we were seeing and doing. He was informative, engaging, and took very good care of us. He even went out if his way to help us out the following morning, which was very much appreciated. If you have a day in Hawaii and want to learn about this island, I strongly recommend making arrangements for this tour.

If I could give more than five starts I would. I went on this tour two days ago, it was amazing. Our guide David was so much fun. He had a lot of knowledge to share about the island. His historic stories were great. Also so much information about the volcanoes and the geography of the island. It was an excellent day. You get to visit a coffee farm, black sand beach, the volcano craters, beautiful shorelines, lava tube, and Rainbow water fall. It was one of the best trips I've taken in my travels. Plus the lunch and snacks were fantastic. What a great experience!

We went on a great tour yesterday with Eric! His energy was upbeat the whole time he kept everyone involved and shared so much knowledge about volcanic formation as well as the Hawaii culture! We had a great experience seeing Volcano National Parks many features and ended the night seeing Lava flow, would definitely recommend for anyone!!
