Trek Segafredo unveils 2022 pro race team kits, bikes and gear

The Trek Segafredo team just got back from training camp, and by the looks of it, they are ready to hit the races.
For the 2022 season, the Trek Segafredo World Tour teams (men’s and women’s) will be on familiar equipment, with little to no changes in componentry over the last year. The team will ride the Trek Madone for most races, Trek Emonda for the hillier courses, and Trek Domane for events like Paris Roubaix, Liège–Bastogne–Liège, and other classics as riders see fit. The team will be on the trusted Trek Speed Concept for the time trials, a bike that Trek Factory Racing and Trek Segafredo helped craft into its world championship-winning form.
Componentry will be all Bontrager, and really — we don’t see a problem with that. The Bontrager Aelous RSL wheels are some of the fastest, best feeling wheels we tested last year, and it says a lot that the tubeless setup is good enough for the World Tour. The team has the choice between many depths of wheels; for climbing stages — Aeolus 37 , for the classic and daily chores — Aeolus 51 , and for cheating the wind — Aeolus 62 .
Bars and stem combo range from Bontrager’s new RSL Aeolus one-piece combo to RSL stems and various bars for different terrain. Most will go with Bontrager’s ISOCore VR bar for the extra padding in the classics like Paris Roubaix.
Each member chooses what saddle fits them the best after consulting with the Trek Precision Fit crew. Most of the team will be using the Bontrager Aeolus saddle — designed for an aggressive aero position. The Aeolus is Bontrager’s first entry into the short nose power-style saddles and quickly became popular among the World Tour teams.
The team will ride exclusively on Pirelli tires, both tubeless and tubular. The go-to model for the team is the Pirelli P Zero TLR , and P Zero tubular. Trek is one of the few World Tour teams leaning toward tubeless rather than tubular, and Pirelli plays a significant role in this decision. Pirelli has worked with Trek-Segafredo riders for the last two years to test and improve their products and help the team perform at the world level. Pirelli’s tubeless tire P Zero TLR, piloted under Lizzie Deignan, was ridden the first-ever victory of Paris-Roubaix Femmes.
SRAM provides the shifting, braking, and power meters for the Trek Segafredo crew. The team will ride the SRAM Red components for all races and training, taking advantage of the wide range of the groupset. As for power measuring needs, the team will use the Quarg Red AXS Power meters .
Bontrager is the helmet and footwear supplier for the Trek Segafedo team. They will race both the Ballista and the Bontrager XXX shoes . For helmets, the rider will have the choice of the Velocis helmet or the Bontrager XXX Wavecel, depending on race conditions.
Santini of Italy creates all the race, training, and team casual wear. A partnership that started with Trek Factory racing and continued with Trek Segafredo over many years.

Santini and Trek-Segafredo reveal kits for the 2022 cycling season

- No Comments on Santini and Trek-Segafredo reveal kits for the 2022 cycling season
The partnership between Santini and US-based UCI WorldTeam Trek-Segafredo is celebrating its fifth year. Now the Italian cycling wear company reveals the new kits made from recycled fabrics that will dress the men and women of the team both in competition and training for the coming cycling season. Santini is supplying Trek-Segafredo with a complete wardrobe to tackle all four seasons and different weather conditions. Both men’s and women’s kits and accessories will be identical in quantity and technical spec.
Dressing a pro cycling team is a serious challenge in terms of sizes, preferences, and requirements. That’s without even mentioning changing seasons, individuality, and men’s and women’s training into the mix. In short, there is a huge amount of preparatory work and management involved. The partnership between Santini and Trek-Segafredo enters its fifth year in 2022 and extends well beyond race kits to include training kits and also all of the rest of the apparel the cyclists require throughout the year.
The Trek-Segafredo men’s and women’s teams receive the same wardrobe required to tackle a season of international competition and intense training. Santini supplies both teams with complete kits and accessories for all the seasons and different climate conditions; all in the same quantities and made to the same high technical spec, which also means the same focus on the environment.
Santini Trek-Segafredo kit: Eco-friendly choices
The racing kits of the Trek-Segafredo men’s and women’s teams include an official jersey made from not one but two sustainable fabrics: Ecofabric RECY by Corno, which, as the name suggests, is an eco-friendly product made from yarn recycled from used materials and those discarded in the environment, and Sitip’s Native – Ecoknit, also made from recycled fibers and yarns without the use of polluting chemicals, to reduce consumption of natural resources and dependency on non-renewable energies.
In addition to this, all of the apparel supplied to the team is packaged in the TIPA compostable bags Santini has been using since January 2021.
Race and training kits
White was chosen as the main color for the official jerseys for men’s and women’s teams. The men’s jersey has a red band across the chest as a background to the Trek logo, while the women’s version has a light blue band. The bib shorts, on the other hand, are navy blue with a red band for the men’s one and a light blue band for the women’s one. In line with Trek Segafredo’s focus on safety, the training kit is a bright fluorescent grenadine pink for maximum visibility on the road during training sessions.
Replica versions of the men’s and women’s Trek-Segafredo kits are also available to amateur riders.

About Santini Cycling Wear
Santini Cycling Wear was founded in 1965 by Pietro Santini who spotted a market for technical cycling clothing as a result of his abiding passion for the sport and competition. In what would seem like a revolutionary and contrarian choice today, the Bergamo-based company made the pivotal decision to design and manufacture all of its products exclusively in Italy. Each item is designed and developed by a design team with a deep-rooted passion for the two-wheel world to meet four key requirements: fit, performance, comfort, and durability.
Santini currently produces 5,000 items of clothing per day and exports 80% of its output. It is deeply committed to ongoing investment in researching and developing innovative textiles and new production methods. However, people – athletes – remain its central focus as it continues to refine its creations to allow cyclists to pursue their sporting passions in a comfortable but inimitably stylish kit.

TREK SEGAFREDO 2019
Home > year index > 2019 > trek segafredo 2019, about the design.
For the 2019 season Trek Segafredo have deviated somewhat from their established design brief of previous seasons. The 2019 Trek Segafredo kit has a retro feel much like pevious Lotto Soudal kits. The torso of the jersey is red with a white band across the chest and rear of the jersey. The sides and sleeves are black with the introduction of 2 thin white bands on the ends of each sleeve. A thin white band is also used on the collar of the jersey. The logos are placed on the shoulders and upper chest, rendered in white on the red. The Trek and Segafredo logos are rendered on the white in black and red across the white chest band. The Segafredo logos are rendered also present on the black sides and black sleeves. New sponsor Splunk have their logo rendered on the sleeves and on the back of the bibshorts.
The bibshorts are black with the two white bands on the leg ends duplicated on the sleeve ends of the jerseys. With the manufacturer Santini's name on each leg end. As in previous seasons the training kit is high vis yellow. The red sections are substituted with hi vis yellow. The logos are rendered in black on the high vis sections while the white band across the chest is substituted for a black band with the main sponsore Trek and Segafredo rendered in white.
The kit uses Dyneema strip fibres, which are 15 times stronger than steel. This can cut down on abrasions from crashes by being more tear resistant.
Santini produced a special kit honouring Richie Porte and the Tour Down Under. The kit's design highlights Richie's Australian roots, the Australian beach life and his love of surfing with each surf board representing one of his major victories.
A white Tour de France edition of the kit was also produced utilising a white based jersey with a red stripe across the front and back where the main sponsors Trek and Segafredo are rendered. A white based cap and gloves were also produced to combat the French summer temperatures in July. The bibshorts remained black as per the standard edition kit.

Trek-Segafredo unveils 2021 kits
Our 14 women and 29 men head into 2021 sporting a fresh look from Santini Cycling Wear
Refreshed from a successful sporting year, Trek-Segafredo is ready to embark on a new campaign in updated kits provided by our clothing partner Santini Cycling Wear. Italian national champion Elisa Longo Borghini and compatriot Nicola Conci visited the Bergamo-based factory to see where the magic happens and help us launch the new kits.
Our Women’s WorldTour winning team will retain their recognizable visual identity with a remixed colour palette and the continuation of the popular torso pattern.
Lead designer Brian Lindstrom explains how we reached the new livery: “The women’s kit has a strong identity with the pattern; it seems to have taken hold and people like it. When designing the new kit, we thought about taking that foundation and spinning around the colours to see if we could get something fresh that updates it. The light blue is borrowed from our Trek Factory Racing cyclocross team. It’s been in our brand repertoire for a few years now, so it felt like a natural progression.”
Only the keenest eyes will be able to spot the minimal changes to the men’s kit. We’ve opted to retain our classy design from 2020 for the upcoming season.
“The current kit is an evolution of the last few years, but even if you go back to 2014 when we had our first Trek Factory Racing team, it was still really minimal and clean. It was black and white with some tonal pinstripes. The same idea held true then: we wanted to keep it clean, pretty minimal, and timeless. I think some of our kits have aged better than others, and over the years, we’ve learned through rider and fan feedback,” admits Lindstrom.
“Trek over the years has defined its DNA of what a Trek kit looks like, so we’ve got a pretty good formula,” says Lindstrom. “We always like to be clean and classy with a minimal colour palette that complements our sponsors’ logos. Then we go for some basic clean colour blocking. We like our kits to be timeless.
“We try to provide a few different options to break outside the box to see how much we can push the envelope. We’ll throw some off-campus stuff in there that’s off-the-wall crazy that maybe Trek hasn’t done yet, but that we always consider whether it’s for a special limited kit or maybe one day the full season kit.”
We try to stay in our lane and have some consistency so that there is some identifiability in the peloton.
Stick or Twist?
It can be a tough call between taking the plunge with a new design or sticking with a popular kit. “It’s totally subjective, a lot of people love to have a brand-new crazy kit every year, and the media will go loud for it or hate it,” points our Lindstrom.
“Kits can be a love/hate thing,” he continues. “I do think there’s something to be said for a sport like cycling where it’s important to be able to identify a team in a peloton. We try to stay in our lane and have some consistency so that there is some identifiability in the peloton. I think if you look at the cycling teams over the last few decades, the ‘iconic’ kits and jerseys are probably going to be from teams who were consistent with their look and branding; for example, the 7-Eleven Team or Team Sky. Teams that knew how to hold onto something for a bit longer than one or two seasons. There are always going to be opportunities in certain races to do something fun.
For now, the new kits are sticking true to their established identities. “We decided to carry forward the look for the bikes and kit, but for 2022, we’ll see how that goes…” Lindstrom teases.
The production of our kits continues toward a bigger initiative to reduce our impact on the environment. To make our new 2021 kits Santini have collaborated with two local producers of sustainable fabrics. Corno’s Ecofabric RECY uses yarn recycled from materials that have been used or discarded in the environment. Native, an Ecoknit by Sitip, is recycled fibers and yarns created without using polluting chemicals. Additionally, the bib shorts feature the ground-breaking Impact panels, an anti-rip and anti-abrasion fabric from Sitip, extremely popular with our riders for the last two years.
“We’ve been working with Trek-Segafredo since 2018, and year after year, we’re more and more proud to continue our support,” comments Monica Santini, CEO of Santini Cycling Wear. “This commitment is part of our long tradition of clothing supplier for professional teams. The partnership with Trek-Segafredo also brought a strong eco-friendly footprint, thanks to the seasonal clothing delivery with zero plastic packaging. Most of all, the kit is made with fabrics derived from the latest generation of recycled yarns, which allowed us to guarantee our athletes top-quality clothing produced with a low-level environmental impact.”

With November in the rear view mirror, a new cycling season rapidly approaches and professional teams are putting together the final touches for a new campaign.
Often, that means a new look for the new season. Trek-Segafredo just shared its new kits for both its men’s and women’s WorldTour teams for 2023, and while not a complete departure from 2022, the kits are a nice refresh of a familiar theme.
Both squads are sticking with predominantly white on the torso, accented by a line of color across the chest that is red for the men and blue for the women although the women now have a darker shade of blue across the front.
This year, the team is also extending color to the sleeves, with the women getting a lighter blue similar to last year’s color on the sleeves.
But the biggest change is to the back of the jersey.
Also read: Ritchey releases 50th anniversary edition Swiss Cross
Both designs feature an eye-catching pattern across the back alternating between checkerboard and horizontal lines in black over a base of the kit’s dominant color, red or blue. The team should be easy to pick out in helicopter shots among the sea of similar jersey designs.
New kit day! 🤩 pic.twitter.com/TZqBRzy9ZB — Trek-Segafredo (@TrekSegafredo) December 1, 2022
The bibs have been slightly changed, but don’t try to break down any fashion norms of the peloton. The band of color around the leg is now thinner, and the base color is a navy blue.
Santini is once again creating the kits. Fans looking to pick up one of their own will be able to starting December 5.

Trek-Segafredo Show 2017 Kit From Sportful
- January 13, 2017 August 14, 2024
Earlier this month, Trek announced their partnership with Sportful , and teased some hi-viz yellow, black, and red kits. Today, the team officially released their new kit design, essentially swapping the hi-viz yellow for red, and reversing some red stripes to white.
The announcement was covered using Facebook Live. The team was shown together for a photo shoot wearing the hi-viz version of their long sleeve jerseys. At command, the team unzipped to show the new red version. You can check out the video here.
Here is the official release from the team.
———————————————–
Trek-Segafredo & Sportful are delighted to present their new race kit for the 2017 season. The new kit, marked by a significant color change from white to red, was simultaneously presented at a Trek Bikes shop in Adelaide and at the team’s training camp in Mallorca this Friday. It will be used for racing throughout the year, thus completing the high visibility training outfit the team started wearing on January 1, 2017.
The official launch of the 2017 race kit also marks the start of a new 3-year clothing partnership with Sportful.
“We are extremely excited to partner with Trek-Segafredo, one of the most successful teams in pro cycling, with a good mix of a very strong classics squad with riders like Degenkolb and Stuyven and grand tour leaders like Contador, Mollema & Pantano we can really look at new ways to help every type of rider perform at their peak, no matter what the weather is doing”
Andrea Peron, Performance Director – Sportful
Sportful has a history of innovation and performance in cycling having supported some of the greatest teams in the peloton since 1985. The partnership with Trek Segafredo will allow Sportful to continue its research with athletes of the highest caliber, an instrumental factor in developing apparel that excels in all conditions.
Trek-Segafredo has chosen to work with Sportful in consideration of their progressive approach to clothing design. The partnership gives the team access to a dedicated R&D program that looks to improve athlete performance in every race and training situation.
“Partnering with Sportful gives us the opportunity to make sure our athletes are comfortable in all the situations they face throughout the cycling calendar, we see everything from snow at the spring classics to 50°C racing in the desert and everything in between. We are also confident that Sportful’s experience with aerodynamic testing will also give us an advantage especially in time trials. They are a very exciting addition to the team.”
Luca Guercilena, General Manager – Trek-Segafredo
The partnership is not just limited to providing clothing for the riders of Trek-Segafredo, but will be expanding to allow fans of the team across the world, the ability to purchase the same products, used by their favorite athletes.
“For Sportful it’s great to work with a team kit that has a very classy look and then bring some of our own design elements in too. We understand and support Trek-Segafredo’s new high visibility training kit project, fortunately we are no strangers to working with fluo yellow. Working with partners like Trek who share the same passion for innovation will no doubt be beneficial for everyone involved.”
Glen McKibben, Brand Manager – Sportful
After a full fitting session with the team, Trek-Segafredo athletes have now received their training and racing kits from Sportful. The apparel used by the pro team will include BodyFit Pro products, designed to give the perfect fit and ergonomics for pro level racing as well as Fiandre clothing designed for all weather protection with race performance. The team will also be using the Eurobike award winning Stelvio jacket for extreme conditions. Trek-Segafredo have also chosen Karpos outdoor clothing for their staff and athletes off the bike.

2021 Trek-Segafredo men’s preview: Another year stronger and wiser
Trek-Segafredo could thrive as one of the most tightly-bonded teams in the peloton
In addition to testing riders physically, the 2020 season layered on the mental challenge of navigating the surprises and fraught periods of a pandemic year. The Trek-Segafredo men’s team not only made it through, they grew closer together while collecting results that showcased their mettle.
Trek-Segafredo’s roster largely returns intact for 2021. That inter-team familiarity and collective wisdom could serve them well against a fuller schedule of racing.
Richie Porte, third-place finisher at the Tour de France, is gone, but Vincenzo Nibali and Bauke Mollema remain as veteran presences for the grand tour squads. During the Giro d’Italia, they’ll serve as mentors to 26-year-old Giulio Ciccone, who will lead Trek-Segafredo’s campaign at the Vuelta a España.
Meanwhile, the classics squad headed by Mads Pedersen, Jasper Stuyven and Edward Theuns is rock solid, especially with the reinforcement of four new riders and another year of development among the returnees. Their strength and camaraderie should make the Spring classics a joy to watch.
Trek-Segafredo heads into 2021 with an exciting mix of riders — both young and old, steady and explosive, proven and still-blooming. After a chaotic year, they are ready to show the peloton how special they can be.

What’s new
Youth movement.
The men’s team added four new riders in the offseason in Amanuel Gebreigzabhier, Antonio Tiberi, Mattias Skjelmose Jensen and Jakob Egholm. Three of those riders — Tiberi, Skjelmose Jensen and Egholm — are 22 years old or younger.
They are among 10 riders on the roster who are currently 24 years old or younger, making up over one-third of the team. Those developing riders have a strong group of veteran and accomplished riders on Trek-Segafredo to look up to, like Vincenzo Nibali, Bauke Mollema, Jasper Stuyven and Mads Pedersen.
Egholm, like his peers, will be using the Classics as a proving ground for his abilities.
“When I got the opportunity to join this team, I didn’t hesitate at all,” Egholm said. “Everyone has really welcomed me. And everyone is really nice and supportive. I’ve been in the sport for some years now and I’ve met people who didn’t give as much to the young guys. It’s big that this team does.”
Mollema, meanwhile, is relishing the opportunity to mentor the rising generation.
“I think with young riders, normally they learn pretty quick. They’re motivated, they really want to learn from the older riders,” Mollema said. “I saw last week I was already one of the oldest five riders in the team. I still feel quite young, but I suppose the age is going up, like with everyone.”

Spring classics, beginning Feb. 27
With its deep roster, Trek-Segafredo has plenty of weapons for the one-day races, starting Feb. 27 with Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, which Jasper Stuyven won last season.
Trek-Segafredo has proven commodities — Mads Pedersen (2020 Gent-Wevelgem winner) and Bauke Mollema (2019 Il Lombardia and 2016 Clásica de San Sebastián) are bona fide one-day stars, along with Stuyven — but the relatively untested riders on the roster, like 24-year-old Matteo Moschetti and 19-year-old Quinn Simmons, have the potential to elevate the classics squad from good to great.
Moschetti and Simmons will race alongside Pedersen, Stuyven and Vincenzo Nibali at Milano-San Remo on March 20, in what should be the first good glimpse at Trek-Segafredo’s one-day prospects for the season. Trek-Segafredo’s classics riders are a famously tight-knit group, and maintaining good chemistry will be key to their results.
Stuyven, 28, is looking forward to taking on a mentoring role, though he notes that the Covid-19 pandemic limits some of his teaching opportunities. “We can’t be sitting around the lobby. There’s not a big table in the restaurant so all the main talking will have to be done on the bike.” Still, he said, “I try to be the guy for the young guys that I wanted the other guys to be with me.”
“They can always ask me something and I will always be the one who tries to make sure they believe in themselves,” Stuyven said. “Make them become the best rider they can be by making sure they are feeling at home in this team, that they are feeling valued in this team, and that they feel like they’re part of this team.”

The grand tours: May 8-30, Giro d'Italia; June 26-July 18, Tour de France; Aug. 14-Sept. 5, Vuelta a Espana
Trek-Segafredo will take three capable grand tour riders to Italy in May: Vincenzo Nibali, Bauke Mollema and Giulio Ciccone. Though all three will participate in one other grand tour this season — Nibali and Mollema will ride the Tour de France, while Ciccone will lead Trek-Segafredo’s GC hopes at the Vuelta a Espana — the Giro will be a particularly important test for three riders entering the season with chips on their shoulders.
Nibali is seemingly ageless, but at 36 years old he is one of the most veteran riders in a peloton that is becoming increasingly competitive with young riders graduating into the elite levels. Still, few riders in the history of the sport can match Nibali in terms of pure guile. This season, he’ll have a chance to prove that he still has plenty of tricks left to show cycling’s young guns.
Mollema will be aiming to redeem a cut-too-short 2020 campaign. Before being forced to abandon the 2020 Tour de France with a fractured wrist, he had completed 12 straight grand tours, finishing top 10 in five of them. He said he won’t be targeting the general classification in Italy, but he’s anxious to get back to a consistently high level nonetheless.
Ciccone is just a freshly-turned 26, but he already has six grand tour starts under his belt. Still, the opportunity to gain more experience can’t be taken for granted, especially ahead of his first effort leading a grad tour campaign in Spain later in the year. The pressure of riding grand tours could be overwhelming to a young rider, but he’s looking at the Giro as a chance to learn even more from his veteran teammates.
“I don’t feel the pressure because, OK, for sure it’s a bigger responsibility, that’s correct. But I’m young and I have a lot of opportunities,” Ciccone said. “I have another Giro with Vincenzo so I can study something more. And I have almost one year, almost one season to improve my skills [before the Vuelta]. For example, the time trial and all my weak points. So I have time and I don’t have a lot of pressure.”
Trek-Segafredo is fortunate to have three riders so motivated for grand tour success. Their journeys will make cycling’s biggest spectacles even more fascinating to watch.

World Championships, Sept. 26
Last season, 2019 World Champion Mads Pedersen opted not to defend his title. He was in fine form — he won a stage of the Tour of Poland, and took second on Stages 1 and 21 of the Tour de France — but ill-suited for the climbing-heavy course in Imola.
In 2021, Pedersen should mount a proper defense while representing his home country of Denmark against other top-notch national teams. The 267.7-kilometer course in Flanders is much better suited for cycling’s hardmen, with a finish consisting of two undulating circuits.
Joining Pedersen with rainbow dreams is Jasper Stuyven. This year’s course finishes in his home town of Leuven in Belgium, less than 150 meters from where he grew up.
“I think having a world championship in your own country is already nice for every rider to experience. But to have it really in your hometown I think adds a lot of extra excitement,” Stuyven said. “I think on that kind of course, I am a rider that can be competitive for the win. Of course it’s the kind of course that fits a lot of Belgian riders, so it’s a matter of finding the balance and having the right leadout at that moment.”
The World Championships are a unique event, turning year-round teammates like Pedersen and Stuyven into opponents as they race in their nations’ kits. Pedersen is already ribbing Stuyven about their chances in the race — “[I say] it would be an enjoyable moment for me to put him in second place while I’m winning.”

One big question
Can mads pedersen become a top flight sprinter.
Pedersen proved he is one of the best one-day riders in the world when he won a World Championship in 2019 at just 23 years old. But last season, he also flashed an ability to be one of the peloton’s strongest riders at the pointiest end of races, when pure speed matters most of all. Notably, he finished second in two bunch sprints at the 2020 Tour de France, including on the iconic Champs-Élysées, less than a bike length back of green jersey winner Sam Bennett.
Pedersen wasn’t surprised by the results, and would love to continue to improve. And if he continues to target bunch sprint finishes, he’ll receive a great leadout from teammates like Jasper Stuyven, Alex Kirsch and Edward Theuns. At the same time, he knows his biggest strength is currently as a classics rider, and he’s careful that any development as a sprinter doesn’t impede that success.
“I knew the sprint was good, but I didn’t expect it to be that good,” Pedersen said. “I’m still not a top sprinter within the best ones because Sam — he’s still Sam Bennett, he’s still beating me 10 out of 10 times if we have to go face against face.
“If we talk in five years and I’ve had enough of the classics, [maybe] I want to try to be a sprinter. But it’s not that easy to move from one kind of rider to another kind of rider. Right now I’m still way more focused for the classics, but I’m still working on my sprints to improve them and make them as fast as possible.”
Pedersen will have to strike a difficult balance if he wants to consistently beat the best sprinters in the world, but his potential is hard to overlook.

Two more riders to watch
Matteo Moschetti – Few people can compete with the 24-year-old Italian in terms of pure horsepower. Moschetti has had bad luck with injuries the past two seasons, but he gave a taste of his potential by winning two races at the Challenge Mallorca to start the 2020 season. If he can stay healthy, Moschetti could break out in a big way.
Koen de Kort – At 38 years old, De Kort is comfortably Trek-Segafredo’s oldest male rider. But with age comes wisdom, and De Kort is putting his experience to good use as a road captain . Look for him to play a prominent role in the Giro d’Italia, relaying tactics and managing the peloton in service of Bauke Mollema and Vincenzo Nibali.

Trek-Segafredo to become Lidl-Trek from Tour de France onwards
US WorldTour and Women's WorldTour teams rebrand from June 30
Trek-Segafredo men's and women's teams are set to rebrand ahead of this year's Tour de France and Giro d'Italia Donne after attracting major new title sponsorship from supermarket chain Lidl.
The move reported at the start of May has now been confirmed by the team in an announcement issued on Tuesday. The rebrand to Lidl-Trek will come into being on June 30, just before the Giro Donne and the men's and women's Tours.
The exact duration of the team's deal with Lidl hasn't been confirmed, though reports have suggested that the sponsorship would run beyond the 2024 season. Italian coffee company Segafredo will move away from its title sponsorship role, the team confirmed.
"We are excited to work with a team that is committed not only to excellence in cycling but also to the sustainable development of athletes in a family team culture," said Lidl board member Jeroen Bal.
Jumbo review plans for post-2024 cycling sponsorship Soudal-QuickStep reveal new 2023 colours, confirm five-year sponsorship Scicon blasts Astana's 'ethics' as Mark Cavendish 'compromises' sponsorship deal
"We are convinced that healthy nutrition and an active lifestyle – shaped by sports and exercise – strengthen people's well-being. Just as our Lidl products are accessible to everyone, cycling is a sport for everyone and suitable for anyone who wants to be more active in everyday life. We want to share this message with as many people as possible."
The team, which traces its roots to the Leopard Trek outfit that began in 2011, have been on the lookout for a new title sponsor with Segafredo's contract due to expire at the end of 2023.
Segafredo joined in 2016 and renewed for another three years in 2019 as the women's squad was launched, before adding another two years from 2022. The reports indicate that Segafredo will step aside early to allow Lidl to begin their backing at the time of maximum exposure at the Tour de France.

This is not Lidl's first involvement in professional cycling. The German-based supermarket company, which has a strong presence throughout Europe, was a co-sponsor of the QuickStep team from 2016 to 2021 and is a current partner of the Flanders Classics series of Spring races, including the Tour of Flanders.
The terms of Lidl's sponsorship are not yet known but Het Laatste Nieuws has suggested there will be "a hefty budget increase".
The men's team, who were 12th in the 2022 UCI rankings and currently sit sixth in the 2023 standings, only have 11 riders under contract for 2024, with room to manoeuvre in the transfer market.
Giulio Ciccone is one of the team's key leaders, along with the Classics pairing of Mads Pedersen and Jasper Stuyven. The veteran Bauke Mollema is on a long-term deal, while 22-year-old Mattias Skjelmose is making his breakthrough at the top level and Belgian talent Thibau Nys is perhaps not far behind.
The women's team have just as many riders on board, with 11 of their 14-strong roster under contract through 2024. Team leaders include former road race world champions Lizzie Deignan and Elisa Balsamo , current time trial world champion Ellen van Dijk, plus Elisa Long Borghini and up-and-coming talents in Shirin van Anrooij and Gaia Realini.

Trek-Segafredo
America | Team website
After first registering in 2011 as a Luxembourg team called Leopard Trek, cycling manufacturer Trek took over the ownership of the team and its ProTeam license in 2014, re-registering them to the United States. Now a UCI WorldTeam and called Trek-Segafredo, the team has had mixed fortunes during its existence.
Trek-Segafredo seemed to place their main hopes of Grand Tour success on Bauke Mollema a few years ago, but while having impressed in some shorter stage races, the 35-year-old has yet to reach the podium of a three-week stage race.
Mads Pedersen and Jasper Stuyven have stepped up in recent years though, performing strongly in the peloton as the team tries to close the gap to the upper reaches of the Grand Tour winning teams.
In 2021, Pedersen won Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne, while Stuyven came first in Milan-San Remo, the American team's first Monument win in the race after achieving four successive podiums after beginning in 2011.
Having said that though, Bauke Mollema also won stage 14 of the Tour de France as the team finished 11th on the UCI World Team Ranking.
Regardless, Chris Horner remains the only Trek rider to have ever won a Grand Tour race, after his 2013 Vuelta a España win, something the team will be desperate to change, though largely unlikely. The team is still lacking a real standout general classification rider, despite having more of a prominent feature in the Classics and Monuments due to the sprinting nature of the team.
The departure of strong Italian rider Vicenzo Nibali isn't ideal too, leaving the America team searching for someone to provide them with Grand Tour stage wins, at the very least.
