Gli Yes torneranno finalmente in Italia la prossima primavera in occasione di 3 speciali appuntamenti: il 5 maggio la band leggendaria sarà dal vivo all’ Eur Convention Center La Nuvola Auditorium di Roma , il 6 maggio al TAM Teatro Arcimboldi Milano e l’ 8 maggio al Gran Teatro Geox di Padova .

Gli YES sono una della più importanti prog-rock band della storia e vera leggenda del genere: con The Classic Tales of YES Tour presenteranno molti brani iconici dell'influente e pionieristico catalogo dei membri della Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, che copre più di 50 anni di storia della musica, oltre ai brani del loro acclamato nuovo album MIRROR TO THE SKY, pubblicato lo scorso maggio. L’artista Roger Dean inoltre si unirà al tour con una mostra d’arte correlata agli YES. Dean ha venduto in tutto il mondo più di cento milioni di copie delle sue magistrali opere d’arte, che raffigurano suggestivi paesaggi ultraterreni. Una di queste appare proprio sulla copertina del nuovo album della band.

Steve Howe, il cui sodalizio con gli Yes è iniziato nel 1970, insieme a Geoff Downes, membro della formazione dell'era "Drama" del 1980, saranno affiancati da Jon Davison, voce principale degli Yes da oltre un decennio; Billy Sherwood al basso, scelto dal bassista originale Chris Squire e Jay Schellen, che ha lavorato a stretto contatto con Alan White, alla batteria.

"Gli YES non vedono l'ora di suonare in Europa e nel Regno Unito nei mesi di maggio e giugno di quest'anno. È passato un po' di tempo dall'ultima volta che siamo stati in tournée qui e ci siete mancati molto", dice Steve Howe.

Geoff Downes ha dichiarato: "Non vediamo l'ora di portare il Classic Tales of YES Tour nel Regno Unito e in Europa.  Si preannuncia uno dei nostri set più interessanti, che ripercorre gran parte della storia degli YES, con alcuni brani inediti e i brani del nostro ultimo album, 'Mirror To The Sky'. Come sempre, siamo impegnati a dare il massimo e siamo entusiasti di eseguire un altro capitolo della ricca eredità della band".

"Jon D. qui, I miei compagni di band e io siamo molto contenti di portare nel Regno Unito e in parte dell'Unione Europea il nostro attuale set di classici degli Yes che, coprendo il ricco spettro della Yestory, ha deliziato i fan statunitensi lo scorso autunno. Eseguiremo molti dei brani più amati, ma aggiungeremo anche delle rarità, alcune delle quali non vengono eseguite da decenni!  Non vediamo l’ora di unirci tutti quanti a maggio, band e pubblico, per celebrare il meglio della musica degli Yes. Ci vediamo lì!".

Dopo i rinvii per vari motivi negli ultimi anni, gli Yes , band-simbolo del rock progressivo da quasi mezzo secolo, hanno annunciato un nuovo ritorno in Italia. Anche senza lo storico cantante Jon Anderson e il tastierista Rick Wakeman, il gruppo presenta comunque una lineup d’eccezione composta da Steve Howe (chitarre), Alan White (batteria), Geoff Downes (tastiere), Billy Sherwood (basso e voce), Jon Davison (voce) e Jay Schellen (batteria e percussioni). Il tour si intitolerà The Classic Tales of YES Tour 2024.

Gli   YES , leggende del prog-rock mondiale, annunciano finalmente i nuovi appuntamenti in Italia il prossimo anno: solo tre date esclusive e imperdibili: Roma domenica 5 maggio alla Nuvola , lunedì 6 maggio al Teatro Arcimboldi di Milano e infine l’8 novembre al Gran Teatro Geox  di  Padova .

Hanno pubblicato il loro  22° album  in studio nel 2021, “ The Quest “, prodotto da Steve Howe , che ha raggiunto la  prima posizione  nella classifica degli album rock nel Regno Unito ed è entrato nella classifica ufficiale degli album nel Regno Unito alla posizione numero 20.

Nel 2022 è giunta la triste notizia della scomparsa del batterista  Alan White , presente costantemente nella formazione degli YES per 50 anni. La notizia è arrivata poco prima che la band intraprendesse il tour per il 50° anniversario del celebre album  “ Close To The Edge “.

Nel febbraio 2023, prima delle notizie sul nuovo album in studio “ Mirror To The Sky “, gli YES hanno confermato  Jay Schellen  come nuovo batterista permanente, scelto per subentrare nel ruolo del suo mentore e amico Alan White . “ Dal 2017 in poi, abbiamo avviato una bellissima collaborazione. Ho imparato e scoperto tantissimo sullo stile di Alan “, racconta Jay. “La sua passione e creatività erano fenomenali. C’è moltissimo di Alan nel nuovo album. È dentro di noi “.

Mirror To The Sky, il 23° album in studio degli YES, è stato pubblicato il 19 maggio 2023 ricevendo recensioni universalmente positive dalla stampa musicale. “M irror to the Sky è davvero un album della band, in cui tutti e cinque i membri… sono stati al massimo del loro gioco “, ha scritto  The Progressive Aspect . “ Gli YES continueranno a svolgere un ruolo nel plasmare i futuri suoni del prog “.

Yes – The Album Series Tour 2023

The English progressive rock band Yes will perform on Friday, May 12, 2023, starting with 9.00 pm, at Teatro Dal Verme, in Milan , as part of The Album Series Tour 2023 .

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the concert was postponed from April 28, 2020, first to April 16, 2021, then to May 16, 2022, and finally to May 12, 2023. Tickets already purchased remain valid for the new date.

Besides the concert in Milan, Yes will also perform on May 11, 2023, at Gran Teatro Geox, in Padua , and on May 13, 2023, at Auditorium Conciliazione, in Rome .

Yes was formed in London in 1968 by lead singer and frontman Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Peter Banks, keyboardist Tony Kaye and drummer Bill Bruford.

The band undergone numerous line-up changes throughout their history. Since May 2022, the band consists of guitarist Steve Howe, keyboardist Geoff Downes, singer Jon Davison, and bassist Billy Sherwood.

Over the years, the band released 22 studio albums, 18 live albums, 37 compilation albums, 39 singles, and 22 videos.

Yes are one of the most successful and longest-lasting progressive rock bands in the world. To date, they sold 13.5 million RIAA-certified albums in the US, and more than 30 million albums worldwide.

In 1985, they won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance, and received five Grammy nominations between 1985 and 1992. They were ranked No. 94 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.

In April 2017, Yes was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with current and former members Anderson, Squire, Bruford, Kaye, Howe, Wakeman, White, and Rabin.

Teatro Dal Verme is a theater in Milan, located on Via San Giovanni sul Muro, on the site of the former private theater Politeama Ciniselli. It was designed by Giuseppe Pestagalli in the 19th century, and was used primarily for plays and opera performances. Today, the theater is a venue for concerts, plays and dance performances, as well as exhibitions and conferences.

The closest Metro station is Cairoli , on the Metro Line M1, located about 130 meters away. The closest bus stop, with the same name, is right in front of the theater, and you can get there with the buses 50 or 61. You can reach the same station with the tram Line 1.

Dopo aver annunciato un primo rinvio al 2024 ( Leggi qui ) gli Yes hanno deciso di cancellare il loro “Relayer Tour”, incluse le tappe italiane previste

11 maggio 2023 al Gran Teatro Geox di Padova, 12 maggio al Teatro Dal Verme di Milano 13 maggio all’Auditorium della Conciliazione di Roma .

I biglietti acquistati non saranno validi per eventuali future nuove date.

Sarà possibile richiedere il rimborso del prezzo del biglietto, attraverso le medesime modalità di acquisto, dunque online su www.ticketone.it compresi i diritti di prevendita , a partire da lunedì 8 maggio, entro e non oltre mercoledì 31 maggio. A causa di circostanze impreviste al di fuori del controllo della band, gli YES hanno preso la decisione di rinviare al 2024 il tour di Relayer , incluse le date italiane previste a maggio 2023 di Milano, Roma e Padova .

I biglietti già acquistati rimangono validi per i nuovi appuntamenti che verranno comunicati prossimamente.

Di seguito la dichiarazione ufficiale: È con enorme rammarico che, a causa di circostanze impreviste al di fuori del controllo della band, gli YES hanno preso la decisione di rinviare al prossimo anno Relayer, il loro tour europeo e britannico del 2023.   Gli YES e il loro management hanno esplorato tutte le strade possibili per organizzare una copertura assicurativa per il tour in caso di problematiche legate al COVID-19 o una clausola di   “rischio guerra”.  Ma il comparto assicurativo ha ritirato tutte le garanzie che rendevano possibili i tour prima del COVID e prima del conflitto in Ucraina.   È necessario effettuare le dovute valutazioni, prendendo in considerazione tutti i rischi quando si va in tournée e gli YES hanno sempre pagato un premio per la copertura in caso di atti terroristici, oltre ai rischi convenzionali di cancellazione. Con l’obiettivo di supportare i locali e il personale, gli YES hanno effettuato un tour nel Regno Unito nel 2022, ma la band non potrà intraprendere un nuovo tour di tale portata con una tale quantità di rischi non assicurati.   Le nuove date saranno annunciate a breve – tutti i biglietti resteranno validi. Gli YES desiderano esprimere il loro sincero rammarico ai fan, domandando la loro comprensione. La band ha ricevuto le garanzie necessarie per il tour del 2024 e si impegna a tornare sul palco per questa data.

My first Yes concert experience was on 25 Sept. 1977 at the San Diego Sports Arena. The stage was designed by Roger Dean and had beautiful orange fabrics draped all around. This time out Yes consisted of Chris Squire on bass (the only member to be in every Yes role-call), Steve Howe on guitar, Alan White on drums, Jon Anderson on vocals, and Rick Wakeman returning on keyboards.

The opening act for this show was Donovan and I believe it was his first performance in San Diego. While the house lights were still up Firebird Suite began to play and the lights began to slowly fade. What a great memory being greeted by the majestic organ introduction to Parallels, a a marvelous start to the evening as well. The material from the recent Going For The One album was equally as strong as their older material and has since survived the test of time compared to some of their other works.

This particular evening had a brilliant mix of old and new. The songs continued with I've Seen All Good People, and Close To The Edge. Wonderous Stories and Turn Of The Century both feature Jon Anderson's angelic alto voice. Jons' microphone gear that night looked like a space helmet collar and had 2 mics for stereo tracking that sounded amazing.

After Going For The One and Awaken the band left the stage. They returned for an encore and played Starship Trooper and Roundabout. What an evening. Rick Wakeman looked like a gladiator in an arena of keyboards and Steve Howe had several guitars to choose from. The quality musicianship of these players has awed me for over 40 years now.

In 1984 Yes toured the 90125 album with Chris Squire on bass, Jon Anderson on vocals, Tony Kaye returning on keyboards, Alan White on drums and Trevor Rabin on guitar. The stage was round and had slanted grating that made it difficult for Echo and the Bunnymen so set up their equipment so the opening act was replaced by 2 Bugs Bunny cartoons. The show started with a new instrumental named Cinema from the 90125 album. Leave It had Alan White playing a small electric drum set for the first half of the song, when the lights dimmed and he reappeared behind the full acoustic drumkit in a blast of light for the end of the song the whole Forum was floored.

This show found Yes playing mainly the newer material. We were treated to a few of the classics: I've Seen All Good People, And You and I, and Long Distance Runaround were mixed in to the main set and once again the encore was Starship Trooper and Roundabout.

In 1991 Yes had a Reunion tour. To some it may have felt the band was larger than the audience. Guitars: Steve Howe and Trevor Rabin. Drums: Alan White and Bill Bruford. Keyboards: Tony Kaye and Rick Wakeman. Bass: Chris Squire. Vocals: Jon Anderson. I was able to see both legs of this tour. The first leg was indoor arenas and the stage was round and rotated clockwise for the first half of the show and counterclockwise for the second half.

The second leg of the tour was in outdoor amphitheaters. In addition to the classics we were treated to a drum duet, two guitar solos, and two keyboard solos. The main sets were only about 20 songs and the encore was Roundabout, but when you consider that some of the songs are 30 minutes long or so it made for quite a full evening of some of the best musical talent you will ever see in one place.

Yes were on their usual nervy, edgy form - they're an unusual band because although everything has complex arrangements, they are still winging it for most of the gig.

Set One - Don't Kill The Whale, Drama album, Siberian Khatru, Owner Of A Lonely Heart, Time And A Word

Steve Howe played pretty erratically - as he always risks with his love of staccato, spur of the moment embellishments - for most of the first half, but oddly enough nailed Owner Of A Lonely Heart, a record he wasn't on, and from that point cleaned up his act and started to hit the beat. Jon Davison and Alan White were impeccable as they fought to keep the beat on track, while Geoff Downes seemed to be in a hurry to get to the end of some of the songs - especially Siberian Khatru, which was quite a mess between the rushed keyboards and the stuttering guitar. However, it was a pleasure to hear the Drama album finally sung by a great singer rather than the rather demo-quality performance on the original album, and the rhythms were so much more powerful live.

Set Two - Fragile album, Starship Trooper

The second half cleared up all doubts with a fiery, muscular performance of Fragile, an album the band have been playing regularly for a couple of years. The combination of nostalgia, power and a wealth of melodies was breathtaking and moving. Geoff Downes was so strong that he completely eclipsed the more hesitant performance shown on the Like It Is DVD.

Billy Sherwood, bless him, won the crowd's love with his devotion to channelling his mighty mentor, the late Chris Squire, whose memory is still being celebrated with a slideshow and playback of "Onward" before the band came on. Yes have now wisely added a slide in tribute to their other unmanifest member, Peter Banks, after performing one of the original band's early songs, Time And A Word, which was recorded by five entirely different people from the current line-up.

This completely replaced and refreshed Yes look set to reach the band's 50th anniversary, and Steve Howe is wearing the leader's hat lightly and happily after waiting so long to inherit it.

The Yes concert was excellent. They played two albums in their entirety, Close to the Edge (in reverse order) & Roundabout. Two songs from the new album and then two encores, "All Good People" and (somewhat of a surprise) "Owner of a Lonely Heart". Amazing that guys their age can play very difficult music for almost 3 hours and not miss a note. I guess that is what 40 years of practice will do for you. This may not have been the 'classic' line up that so many fans wanted to see, but I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. Geoff is not the keyboard wizard that Rick is (who is?), but he was very sharp and did a masterful job. Steve is still Steve, I'm sure he will be playing those licks when he is in his 90's. I hope he gets paid by the note, he will make a fortune. Chris too was in great form and you could tell he was enjoying playing this material to a very appreciative crowd. Jon Davison handles the vocals very well. He isn't trying to imitate Jon Anderson, but stays true to the original spirit of the lyrics. His voice did justice to the music and he is great in his role as the new lead singer for this band. Alan is still (IMHO) one of the best rock drummers around, not flashy, but gets the job done. Some of the songs have never been preformed live until this tour, so it was pretty neat to experience some things that have never been heard outside of a recording studio before. Who knows, maybe down the road there will be another Union tour. If there is, count me in!

First: RIP Mike Porcaro and Chris Squire. Second: Rose Music Center is a great venue. Everything about the place is wonderful. I can't wait to go to more concerts there. Third: Toto stole the night. I had truly wished by some miracle that Simon Phillips would have been on this tour, but so be it. Lukather crushed it. Vocals were out of this world too. I also wanted more of their hits, but it was good to see Steve and Luke jam out Hydra live. Also, Phillips would have KILLED that set... Shannon Forrest... he's OK. Just OK. Sorry, you had big shoes to fill. Last: This was my third Yes concert in my life. Sadly, it's time for the boys to hang it up. Steve Howe unfortunately just didn't seem to be with it. Alan was taking it easy, but hey, I get it, these guys have been doing this for decades. Yet, they butchered some of their best tunes AND at slow tempos to boot. I'm sure diehard fans won't agree. That's fine. I didn't even finish the set this time. I just had to go. It was painful to watch. I won't be seeing them anymore. Last point: Jon Davison is a decent emulator, but it was just too much. Billy Sherwood is a great bassist by the way. Kudos. Venue review: the sound mix was awesome for both bands. Sorry Yes... I'll always love the recordings. I wish you well in retirement.

The entire concert last night was incredible. Toto put on a great show by playing a number of their old songs and also by playing a couple of songs from their new album. One of the new songs they basically dedicated it to Mike Porcaro and Chris Squire since both bands lost their bass players this year.

Yes started their part of the concert with a tribute to Chris Squire and having his infamous Rickenbacker bass on stage while showing pictures of Chris through his time with Yes. The band then came out and opened up with Don't Kill the Whale. They played songs from throughout the years, including Going for the One, Time and a Word, and Owner of a Lonely Heart. They ended their set with Roundabout and played Starship Trooper for their encore. The entire night was just beyond belief with these two bands rocking the stage.

The concert was awesome and it brought back lots of old memories! They had a new lead singer who is just as good if not better than the original! Definitely a concert worth seeing. They played the Close To The Edge album and then the entire Fragile album along with a few new songs from a new album that's going to be released that sounded really good!!

The concert was excellent. The band line-up performed excellently, with Geoff stepping in brilliantly for Chris Squire, and Jon Davison has an excellent voice as well, keeps up the quality of Yes' amazing music.

I wish I could go back and time and re-live the concert!! This is a definite must-see!! I can't wait till next time!!

Great band with great songs and a great history - it was great to see them purely for that reason. However, when I saw them at Oxford this year they seemed really under-rehearsed. I don't know if they had sound issues on stage but the drummer was in his own tempo for a lot of it. Even my Dad noticed and he's not musical!

They're getting old... but they weren't bad at all. I just hope this is their last tour. Starship Trooper was a good way to go out, and tbh Anderson Rabin and Wakeman is more yes than they are at this point member-wise... anyway, good concert, and I'd catch them if I were you just cuz I think this is it for them.

Great show, worthy tribute to Chris Squire. Billy Sherwood ably filled the bass and vocal duties, at the express wish of Chris himself before he passed. Nice mix of tunes, featuring some fairly deep cuts to include "Don't Kill the Whale" which I hadn't heard them play live before.

Deep Purple, one of Britain’s most influential bands, today announced “=1 More Time” 2024 tour of North America. The band are celebrating 50 years of “Smoke on the Water” and the newly expanded edition of their Machine Head album. Joining them on the summer run are YES. The tour begins August 14 and continues through September 8. Both bands have other tours scheduled throughout the world this year. Pre-sale tickets begin today (April 9) at 12N local time. The general on-sale begins April 12 here at 10 a.m. here.

Deep Purple are fronted by legendary vocalist Ian Gillan, and accompanied by bassist Roger Glover, drummer Ian Paice, keyboardist Don Airey, and guitarist Simon McBride.

Deep Purple Announce North American Tour in 2024 With Yes

“Smoke On The Water” is by far Deep Purple’s biggest hit. It’s hard to believe that it’s been half a century since the iconic track was released, and the hard rock band hasn’t forgotten the song that put them on the map. This summer, Deep Purple and fellow rockers Yes will kick off a 50th-anniversary celebration of the song with a North American tour! No opening acts have been announced, but we think the combo of Deep Purple and Yes is more than enough to get concertgoers excited.

The upcoming Deep Purple 2024 Tour with Yes will start on August 14 in Hollywood, Florida at Hard Rock Live. The tour is expected to close on September 8 in Scranton, Pennsylvania at The Pavilion at Montage Mountain.

The band’s website will be the main spot to score tickets and VIP packages for this tour. Use the code “SMOKE” to access the artist presale event. Just as well, Ticketmaster is hosting a few different presale events for this tour as well.

General sale tickets will go on sale on April 12 at 10:00 am local. If your tour date is sold out by the time general on-sale starts (which it likely will), try out Stubhub . Stubhub’s a great spot to get tickets to sold-out concerts, especially for highly-anticipated tours like this one. It’s worth taking a look!

'Open your freaking eyes' - Daniil Medvedev rages again in Monte Carlo Masters defeat to Karen Khachanov

Daniil Medvedev was given a point penalty as he angrily disputed a line call for the second day in a row during his 6-3 7-5 defeat to fellow Russian Karen Khachanov at the Monte Carlo Masters. The world No. 4 lost his temper late in the second set, telling the umpire “open your freaking eyes” and telling a bespectacled line judge that their glasses were not doing their job.

Lotte Kopecky Confirmed to Race the Giro d’Italia Women Ahead of the Olympic Games

The Paris-Roubaix winner is looking to medal in Paris 2024, with potential Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift in the mix.

Stam also said that Kopecky’s decision on the Tour de France Femmes is still up in the air and that she will make final plans after Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes on April 21.

“There is no long list for the Tour yet because certain riders are injured, and it is not yet clear whether they will be fit. After Liège, I will sit down with Lotte and talk about the Tour. The most important thing is what she wants,” Stam told the Belgian newspaper.

According to GCN , “In her top shape, Kopecky would be a major favorite for Liège-Bastogne-Liège alongside her teammate and defending champion, Vollering, but Stam is keen to point out that it has been a long spring for the Belgian.

“It is not the course that will be the deciding factor for Lotte in Liège. The mental and physical freshness after a long spring will be. She has worked towards the Tour of Flanders and Roubaix. It remains to be seen how much is left in her tank against ladies who will be relatively fresh at the start.”

But Can She Do the Triple?

Racing the Tour de France Femmes following the Giro and the Olympics would certainly make for an incredibly packed schedule. The French Grand Tour begins just a day after the omnium at the Olympic Games. But if anyone can put together such an impressive calendar, it’s probably Kopecky.

Fresh off her Paris-Roubaix Femmes win, she will spend the next days resting and recovering before ramping back up but will skip altitude. Stam said, “Lotte will not go on an altitude training course before the start of the [Olympic] Games. We will stay on the lowlands and try to let her grow to her top level through stage races.”

Stam also said that the Giro will be an important part of Kopecky’s Olympic preparations. The final stage of the Giro, which will run from July 7-14, will be just 13 days out from the Olympic time trial event. This will be Kopecky’s fourth Giro appearance. She’s finished the race twice and won a stage in 2020.

Whatever spring and summer bring, it’s Kopecky’s world; we’re just hanging on to watch.
