It was described by Arsene Wenger as "the biggest decision in Arsenal's history".

In 2002, relocation plans began and four years later, the club had a new home.

On the site of what was once an old waste disposal estate in Ashburton Grove now stands The Emirates Stadium - a state-of-the-art facility, fit for a club at the higher echelons of the game.

Throughout the 2009/2010 campaign, an "Arsenalisation" project began with the intention of connecting the club's storied past with it's exciting future.

Among the changes was the striking imagery of 32 Arsenal greats "embracing" the 60,000 seater ground.

This - along with the statues of former greats Tony Adams, Thierry Henry and Herbert Chapman - are among just some of the sights that attract thousands through the stadium's doors on both matchdays and non-matchdays alike.

Below is everything you need to know about Arsenal's Emirates Stadium tour.

How do I book my place?

The Stadium Tour, Matchday Tour, Legend Tour and VIP Legend Experience are all available to buy on the official Arsenal website .

Emirates Experience

Easy to get to the Emirates, via the Piccadilly line and exit at Highbury station, walk 500 yards and there is the fantastic Emirates Stadium. Tour is easy to access through the Armoury Store, you are provided with an ipad type tablet, choose your language and we had Lee Dixon, guiding us through the stadium tour. You can walk around in your own group. Clear signposting from Directors Box to the Diamond Club, the changing rooms and the press rooms, even seen Mikel Arteta office, onto the pitch.

Worth the money!

This is a good way to see the stadium behind the scenes. You are given a head set at the beginning of the tour which helps guide you around and give information for each point you reach. The museum was interesting. There are lots of photo opportunities and also two different points where staff take your photo behind a green screen (these can be purchased after the tour at extra cost) All the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. I would recommend this to a fellow Arsenal fan!

Corruption Law Allows Gifts to State and Local Officials, Supreme Court Rules

The court, which has limited the sweep of several anti-corruption laws, distinguished after-the-fact rewards from before-the-fact bribes.

  • Share full article

The Supreme Court building in Washington with several birds flying above it.

By Abbie VanSickle and Adam Liptak

Reporting from Washington

The Supreme Court limited the sweep of a federal law on Wednesday aimed at public corruption, ruling that it did not apply to gifts and payments meant to reward actions taken by state and local officials.

The 6-to-3 ruling , which split along ideological lines, was the latest in a series of decisions cutting back federal anti-corruption laws.

Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh, writing for a conservative majority, said that the question in the case was whether federal law makes it a crime for state and local officials to accept such gratuities after the fact. He wrote, “The answer is no.”

Federal prosecutors’ interpretation of the law created traps for public officials, leaving them to guess what gifts were allowed, he added. If they guessed wrong, the opinion continued, the officials could face up to a decade in prison.

The decision reflected a sharp divide on the court, with Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, joined by Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor, dissenting. While the conservative wing asserted that the ruling gave discretion to state and local governments and protected officials from having to guess whether their behavior had crossed a criminal line, the liberals said the decision represented more chipping away of a statute aimed at protecting against graft.

“Officials who use their public positions for private gain threaten the integrity of our most important institutions,” Justice Jackson wrote. “Greed makes governments — at every level — less responsive, less efficient and less trustworthy from the perspective of the communities they serve.”

In what appeared to be a dig at the court’s conservative bloc, Justice Jackson added that the defendant in the case offered an “absurd and atextual reading of the statute” that “only today’s court could love.”

The decision was issued as the court faces increased scrutiny over its ethics practices. After months of revelations by ProPublica and others that Justice Clarence Thomas had failed to reveal luxury travel and gifts from the Texas billionaire and conservative donor Harlan Crow, as well as revelations about other justices , the court adopted an ethics code , the first in its history.

The case before the court, Snyder v. United States, No. 23-108, concerned James Snyder, a former mayor of Portage, Ind., a city of about 38,000 people near Lake Michigan. In 2013, while Mr. Snyder was mayor, the city awarded two contracts for a garbage truck company, Great Lakes Peterbilt. Portage bought five garbage trucks for about $1.1 million.

In 2014, after the process was complete, the company cut Mr. Snyder a check for $13,000 for what he later said were consulting services.

The F.B.I. and federal prosecutors said the bidding process had been manipulated to ensure the company prevailed. Investigators said the money was a gratuity for the garbage truck contracts, but Mr. Snyder said it was payment for his consulting services as a contractor for Peterbilt.

A jury convicted Mr. Snyder of accepting an illegal gratuity, and a federal judge sentenced him to more than a year in prison. On appeal, Mr. Snyder argued that the federal statute criminalized only bribes, not after-the-fact gratuities. A federal appeals court affirmed his conviction, and Mr. Snyder petitioned the Supreme Court to review the case.

The majority explained that the law typically makes a distinction between bribes — payments made or agreed to before a government action to influence the outcome — and gratuities — payments made after a government action to reward or thank the public official.

Although bribes are frowned upon as inherently corrupt, the majority noted, federal, state and local governments have treated gratuities with more nuance.

In its reasoning, the conservative majority said it relied on statutory history and text, among other factors, to find that the federal statute focused on bribes, not gratuities.

Justice Kavanaugh wrote that such gifts to officials were often already regulated by state and local governments. The federal law, he wrote, “does not supplement those state and local rules by subjecting 19 million state and local officials to up to 10 years in federal prison for accepting even commonplace gratuities.”

Rather, he wrote, the law “leaves it to state and local governments to regulate gratuities to state and local officials.”

To uphold prosecutors’ interpretation of the law “would significantly infringe on bedrock federalism principles,” Justice Kavanaugh wrote.

The federal law, he added, lacked clear guidance for local officials to follow, leaving them to try to discern what actions might amount to a violation.

He cited examples, nodding to the case’s origins in Indiana.

“Could students take their college professor out to Chipotle for an end-of-term celebration?” he wrote. “And if so, would it somehow become criminal to take the professor for a steak dinner? Or to treat her to a Hoosiers game?”

While “American law generally treats bribes as inherently corrupt and unlawful,” Justice Kavanaugh wrote, gratuities are another matter. Some can be “problematic,” while others can be “commonplace and might be innocuous.”

He listed examples. A family tipping their mail carrier. Parents sending a gift basket to thank their child’s teacher at the end of the school year. A college dean giving a sweatshirt to a city council member who speaks at an event.

Those examples, he wrote, suggest that “gratuities after the official act are not the same as bribes before the official act,” adding that unlike gratuities, “bribes can corrupt the official act — meaning that the official takes the act for private gain, not for the public good.”

In a concurring opinion, Justice Neil M. Gorsuch wrote that the decision reflected an age-old understanding that when “any fair reader of this statute would be left with a reasonable doubt” as to whether the law applied to the defendant’s actions, the court must err on the side of the person charged with the crime.

The court in recent years has narrowly interpreted anti-corruption laws.

Last year, it threw out two fraud convictions involving accusations of bid rigging and illicit payments during the administration of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, a New York Democrat.

In 2020, the court unanimously overturned the convictions of two defendants in the so-called Bridgegate scandal, in which associates of Chris Christie, a Republican who was the governor of New Jersey, closed access lanes to the George Washington Bridge in 2013 to punish one of his political opponents. That was an abuse of power, the court ruled, but not a federal crime.

Similarly, the court in 2016 unanimously overturned the conviction of Bob McDonnell, a former governor of Virginia. Mr. McDonnell, a Republican, had accepted luxury products, loans and vacations from a business executive.

Taylor Swift  got quite the welcome from Ireland's favorite sons ahead of her Eras Tour stop in Dublin this weekend.

The Tortured Poets Department songstress took to her social media on Friday and shared the lovely note and bouquet of flowers U2  sent her way. On her Instagram Story, the 34-year-old singer noted that she was "already feeling that Irish hospitality" and thanked the legendary Irish rock band "for always being the classiest & coolest."

The note read, "Dear Taylor, Welcome back to our hometown.... leave some of it standing?!!!! Your Irish fan club." The note was signed by frontman  Bono , guitarist The Edge, bassist Adam Clayton and drummer Larry Mullen Jr.

Swift kicks off her Dublin pitstop on Friday at Aviva Stadium. She'll perform through the weekend before next heading to Amsterdam, Netherlands, next week at Johan Cruijff Arena. The Midnights  singer enjoyed a few days off following an action-packed stop in London as part of her Eras Tour, where she was surrounded by royalty , tons of celebrities and, yes, her boyfriend, Travis Kelce , who made a surprise performance on Night 3 and went all out in a full tuxedo and top hat.

Fans at Wembley Stadium lost their collective minds when Kelce joined Swift onstage during the transition between "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" and "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart," alongside Swift's dancers, Kam Saunders and Jan Ravnik. The trio, dressed in matching suits and top hats, delighted the audience with their performance.

Saunders, Swift's backup dancer and brother of Kelce's former Kansas City Chiefs teammate, Khalen Saunders, shared a series of photos from the London shows on Instagram. In his caption, Saunders expressed his joy at sharing the stage with Kelce, describing it as a "full circle moment."'

Kelce responded to Saunders' post, writing, "Kam! The Saunders brothers were already my favorites. From winning super bowls with Sir Bink @khalennotkaylen to having fun bringing Tay back to life on the stage with you the other night…. and even hanging with Mama Saunders, cheering you on in Australia! 🍻 More memories to come!!"

A source previously told ET that the couple had discussed him making an appearance onstage "when the timing was right" and "they finally made it happen."

Nearly a week after the surprise performance, a source now tells ET, "It was so much fun for Taylor and Travis to be on stage together at her show. It was definitely a new, defining point in their relationship and they had a blast getting the chance to show a personal side of themselves with the world. They are so happy with how everything turned out and loved seeing all the fan reactions."

The source added, "They also had a great time practicing together behind the scenes and were so cute and sweet with each other. They are a naturally bonded pair. It was a very special experience for them and also hints at what their future might hold together."

2024 USA Tour tickets now on sale

Arsenal's 2024 USA Tour

We’re heading to the USA again this summer where we’ll face Manchester United and Liverpool as part of our preparations for the 2024/25 season.

First up, we'll play Manchester United at SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, on July 27. This will be the second time we’ll have faced each other on American soil, with the same fixture last July selling out the 80,000-capacity MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

In another high-profile game, we’ll travel to Philadelphia where we’ll play Liverpool at Lincoln Financial Field on July 31. This will be the first time we’ll have played each other in the US.

Our sporting Director, Edu, said: “Our plans for pre-season are taking great shape. Playing against two strong teams in great stadiums in front of so many of our supporters will provide Mikel and the squad with a strong test and great experience ahead of the new season.

“We know how great SoFi Stadium is after our sold-out match there last year. The facilities are incredible and we’re excited to return. We look forward to making further announcements about our trip soon.”

Manager Mikel Arteta added: “It’s great to be visiting the US again this summer. Our matches against Manchester United and Liverpool will be great preparation ahead of the new season.

"Our tour last year was a real success and it’s always an amazing experience to play in front of our passionate supporters in the US. We’re looking forward to returning and seeing everyone again.”

Taylor Swift Donation Helps U.K. Food Banks Serve 10,000+ Meals: ‘The Most Incredible Gift’

The pop star is reportedly donating to food banks along her U.K. Eras Tour stops

Taylor Swift understands the gift of giving.

The 34-year-old pop star has reportedly been donating at various U.K. Eras Tour stops for weeks.

Rachel Biggs, the CEO of Cardiff Foodbank , told The Guardian in an interview published on Tuesday, June 25 that Swift was behind the largest donation from an individual the organization has ever seen. Cardiff, the capital of Wales, was the only city with just one Eras Tour concert during Swift's 152-date European leg, the BBC notes.

Jo Hale/Redferns

Though Biggs did not specify the amount of money given, she said it was a huge help.

“The breathing space Taylor’s donation has given us will enable us to lift our heads and shift our focus from the food bank to the creation of a sustainable operation supporting people who currently need our help with support to address the root cause of poverty and financial support to set them on the path to not needing our aid any more,” Biggs told The Guardian .

According to Biggs, the Grammy winner’s contribution helps to feed “1,200 people three meals a day, for three days – or 10,800 meals.”

Cardiff Foodbank also thanked Swift on Instagram with a photo of the singer's signature friendship bracelets that read, "Thank you Taylor Love, Cardiff Food Bank." In the caption, the charity said the donation was "beyond our Wildest Dreams," a nod to a song on Swift's 1989 album.

The Guardian also spoke with Rich Jones, the CEO of Liverpool's St. Andrew’s Community Network , which oversees 11 food banks. Jones called Swift’s contribution “the most incredible gift.”

Kevin Mazur/Getty

“Because of rising prices, rising need and falling donations, we’ve been having to subsidize our food ourselves for a long while,” Jones said. “But it’s fair to say that Taylor Swift has essentially paid our food bill for 12 months – and that gives us the breathing space to focus on fundraising efforts going forward.”

On June 11, the Daily Mail reported that the “Shake It Off” hitmaker donated to local food banks in Edinburgh during her time in Scotland's capital city.

"Thank you so much Taylor – you have changed Edinburgh for good," the Edinburgh Food Project shared on Instagram .

Swift's charitable donations aren't the only thing grabbing attention during her tour. Travis Kelce recently joined Swift in London — in a twist that no one could have seen coming.

On Sunday, June 23, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end performed onstage with the “Love Story” singer at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The couple, who have been publicly dating since October 2023 , coordinated in tuxedo and top hat looks for the show.

While speaking with Barstool Sports' Bussin' With The Boys podcast on Tuesday, the Super Bowl winner gushed over how “proud” he was of Swift.

“You want to keep things private, but at the same time I’m not here to hide anything,” Kelce said of their romance. “That’s my girl. You know what I mean? That’s my lady. So it’s like, I’m proud of that .”

“You just don’t want to let everybody into your personal life and be able to comment on it knowing that everything she does is getting a headline.”
