The CIE Irish Adventure Tour- An amazing trip through an amazing country

My wife and I just returned from the CIE Irish Adventure 8-day small group tour with Murt O’Shea as our tour guide. The group comprised about 25 people, and we hit some of the most popular spots in the entire county: The Dublin Custom House, the Cliffs of Moher, the Giant’s Causeway, the Belfast Titanic Museum, the Dunbrody Famine Ship, the Waterford Crystal production line, the Ring of Kerry, the Blarney Castle, and the Guinness Storeroom, just to name a few. We visited the towns (and counties) of Dublin, Waterford, Cobb, Galway, Donegal, Killarney, County Clare, County Kerry, the River Shannon, and Derry, among others. In addition, Murt had scheduled several guest speakers to heighten the experience and immersion of the Irish culture. Talks about the Troubles, the famine, Irish Medieval sites, the Cobb harbors, and our personal favorite, a sheepdog herding demonstration that had to be seen to be believed, we high on the list. I won’t soon forget it. Murt also worked his butt off making things easier for the party, like taking care of our bags every day, shuttling us to the Hop On-Hop Off tours, and booking some amazing local pubs for lunches. He also recommended a couple of shows, a coach ride through an immense park and a Gaelic Dance performance that was also a highlight of the trip. But the most valuable thing that Murt did for us was to share his deep love for his country. He shared several stories, some historic and some amusing, but all of them helped up to see Ireland through his eyes. We are very grateful to him for this, and we would HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see the true Ireland.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed review. We are so happy to hear you had a wonderful experience on the Irish Adventure Tour and thrilled have been a part of making your trip memorable. Love to see all the ways that your tour guide, Murt O’Shea, made your trip extra special - he is truly a gem! Between all the facts and his jokes (and did you hear him sing?), he is known to always go above and beyond. Thank you again for the feedback. We hope to see you again in the future to explore another destination with CIE Tours! Warm regards.

We recently returned from a Scotland/Ireland tour. We flew into Edinburgh and out of Dublin. It was supposed to be a "small" group tour, it was not. There were 27 people. The itinerary was great. We saw more than we would ever see on our own of these two beautiful countries. Our tour guide, Colm, was sensational. Unfortunately, some of the hotels(they are all supposed to be 4 star) were not. At the hotel, we had to change rooms three times. The first room had a terrible, sewage type smell and the 2nd room had a toilet that would not flush. After the hotel sent maintenance people up twice, they offered to send them again and I said no, it was getting late and I didn't want to take a chance on them not being able to fix it. Even the manager said, you need another room. He also said they wouldn't be selling that room that night, but as soon as we left that room, the cleaning staff went in. There were other hotels that were more like 2 stars because of lack of cleanliness. Bottom line, great tour but very busy. Hotels overall out of 9 hotels, maybe 4 were 4 star.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're happy you were able to take in all the beauty that Scotland and Ireland have to offer, and glad to hear your tour guide, Colm, provided a top-notch experience. We are very sorry to hear about your experience with your hotel room. We understand how important a pleasant stay is, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. Our team takes steps to ensure that all our hotel partners provide a quality guest stay. We appreciate your feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience with CIE Tours in the future. If you have further concerns, please feel free to contact us directly. [email protected] (800) 243-8687 Mon – Fri, 9:00am - 5:00pm ET Best regards, CIE Tours

We took the absolute trip of a lifetime with CIE in mid-June of 2023 ... just 6 of us (me, my wife and two kids, my father and stepmother) and our driver guide, Karl doing a full lap of Ireland's coastline. From the moment we began planning the trip to the time we reluctantly departed Dublin airport to head home, CIE made the experience smooth, easy, and truly memorable. Karl, our driver guide, was the key ingredient in this. He kept us on a reasonable schedule that helped us see everything on our itinerary - but also helped us squeeze in a few unplanned sights that he recommended along the way - all without ever feeling rushed or overbooked. He accommodated our sometimes strange requests ("Can you help us find our stepmom's cousin who lives ... somewhere? near the Cliffs of Moher? Can we randomly pull over if I see a Star Wars filming location in Dingle?") with remarkable patience and enthusiasm. He took care of our basic needs, ensuring we always had water, cool air, and plenty of time for bathroom and meal breaks. And he thoroughly, clearly, and compassionately explained the significance of each place in Irish history - especially modern Irish history, contextualizing things in relation to the current state of affairs in the country with even handedness and empathy. This added depth and nuance to our trip that I don't think we'd have gotten on a larger tour, or with a less emotionally intelligent guide. As a key highlight, he suggested adding the Slea Head Drive around the Dingle Peninsula to our itinerary (which we had time for, having left the Ring of Kerry off of our trip on purpose). This wasn't in our original plans, but it immediately became one of the best things we did on our trip. We saw spectacular coastal vistas, 3,000 year old dwellings, famous filming locations, and even got to hold & hand-feed baby lambs. Lifelong memories were made. A similar thing happened in Northern Ireland, with the Carrick A Rede rope bridge. Located just down the road from the Giant's Causeway, this staggering coastal landmark takes you out into the sea, giving you unrivaled views of the coastline and out to the Scottish Highlands. Not on our original itinerary, but a key stop for us, all thanks to Karl's thoughtful suggestions and planning. Other highlights of the trip included well-known stalwarts like the monastic settlements in the Wicklow Mountains, the Cliffs of Moher, Kylemore Abbey, the walking tour of Derry's walls, and the ancient burial / settlement mounds at Newgrange and Knowth. We had ambitious plans for this trip. Taking a "full lap of Ireland" is a LOT to take on. Pacing it is key. So is comfort in terms of transportation and accommodations. CIE absolutely nailed all of this for us. Our coach gave us comfortable, roomy seating (air conditioning! power outlets in every seat! plenty of space to spread out!). Hotels were routinely top-notch, and featured excellent meals. Pro-Tips: * If you can afford it, look into a private tour. Going with a smaller group gives you more flexibility and the opportunity for a more personal experience. * We customized our itinerary with CIE's help, relying on their expertise to guide us. That proved very wise. They know their stuff, so trust them as experts. * Pay close attention to how much time you'll spend driving each day. We made sure that we spent no more than 4 hours in the car each day, with no leg lasting longer than 2 hours (usually 60-90 mins). This was crucial! We got plenty of time to stretch our legs, get fresh air and actually SEE the sights vs. spending all day every day staring out a window. * If you travel in summer, be forewarned that not every hotel has air conditioning. Even if it's pleasant outside, it can get warm and stuffy in the rooms (even with open windows and fans). * Be flexible and open to ideas. Your driver guide knows the terrain and what works / doesn't work. Leave a little room in your plans for them to surprise and delight you. * If you can, ask for Karl. He's the absolute best.

We're delighted to hear you had a dream trip, especially through a customized itinerary that suited you and your family, and happy that CIE Tours helped make your trip the most memorable. Wonderful to hear your driver guide, Karl, was nothing short of remarkable! We will pass this review along to Karl and his team. Our entire team at CIE Tours would be happy to welcome you back -- whether it's to the Emerald Isle again or one of our other destinations. Thank you again. We hope to see you back soon!

They sold us a Bed and Breakfast and Car package without providing a list of B&Bs. The travel agent assured us there were plenty to choose from. After purchasing, the website was provided two weeks later and there wasn't bed and breakfast availability in the entire county where we were attending our friend's wedding, see screeshot. Now, they're refusing to refund us. We've filed a chargeback with our card, I'd suggest you do the same if it happens to you.

Taste of Ireland 7-Day Tour hits the touristy hot spots of Dublin and southern Ireland, including Blarney Castle, Ring of Kerry, Cliffs of Moher, a medieval banquet, sheep shearing demo and much, much more. Highlights: our excellent guide/driver, Mark, who told us as much about his personal life as about Ireland; good hotels; rotating assigned seats on bus; backpack with electrical adapter, poncho, other items sent a couple weeks in advance. Lowlights: didn't meet Mark until 2 p.m. on second day of tour; no activity scheduled for last night.

We hope to see you again in the future to explore another destination with CIE Tours.

GEORGE MURRAY IS THE BEST! George drove us around Ireland for the majority of our trip and he made it the best experience ever. Our first driver was not a good match for us but luckily CIE made sure to get us a new guide and he redeemed the issue and more. He was so kind, knowledgeable and a great driver. We felt safe and comfortable with him. As a father himself, he was also so great with my 2 young nephews. He treated them to chocolates and they were calling him Uncle George by the end of the trip. If you're booking a trip with CIE, try to get George! I'm sure there's many great tour guides out there, but George is definitely the best!

All Ireland CIE Tours Tour Reviews

Fast paced but thorough tour. Our driver/guide Patrick really made the experience interesting and enjoyable with his marvelous sense of humor, positive influence, vast knowledge of Irish culture and current life. Extremely capable and professional. Seems there was a miscommunication from tour company about where our tour ended and logistics for return to Dublin but all was reconciled.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Ireland. The hotels and food were very nice and we met some wonderful people along the way.
The tour was great. Very well put together. Lots of opportunity to see things and just enough free time. Most would have liked to have more time to look around some of the towns instead of rushing to hotel to hang around for 2 to 3 hours for meal time. Sean went above and beyond to make sure everyone's needs were meant.

Dublin to experience revamped version of Taylor Swift’s Eras tour

By Ellie Iorizzo, PA Los Angeles Correspondent

Taylor Swift will perform her revamped Eras tour in Ireland, featuring changes to her setlist, support acts and costumes.

The US superstar restructured the concert as she kicked off the European leg of her juggernaut tour in Paris at the beginning of May.

She cut several songs to showcase music from her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, including But Daddy I Love Him, Down Bad, Fortnight, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, and I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.

Sweden Taylor Swift

Those tracks are widely interpreted to be about her rumoured romance with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy.

Fans have compared some of the staging of numbers in that section of the show to performances by the British singer, including Swift’s theatrics in the transition to I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.

The use of marching drummers and a salute during The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived also bears a striking similarity to videos of a Healy performance.

Swift dubbed the new section of her show Female Rage: The Musical.

She has also started repeating songs in the “surprise song” portion of her acoustic set, and introducing mash-ups.

The US star arrives in Ireland on June 28th for three nights at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

Before that, she will have played three nights at the Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and three nights at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium, followed by a performance at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff and then three back-to-back shows at London’s Wembley.

Paramore

US pop-punk band Paramore, consisting of Hayley Williams, Taylor York and Zac Farro, will support Swift across all the Irish and UK dates.

The support acts have changed since Swift began touring in March 2023.

Stars including Filipino-English singer Beabadoobee and US star Sabrina Carpenter have performed, while Gracie Abrams, who opened for Swift at the beginning of the tour, is set to return for Canada dates.

Meanwhile, Irish fans will experience several new costumes from Swift which were debuted at the beginning of the European leg – including a red sparkling bodysuit for the opening section of the show.

She is also expected to perform The Tortured Poets Department portion of the gig in a cream ball gown, with the on-stage visuals adopting a black-and-white theme.

The tour is themed around the different “eras” Swift has created during her career, with dedicated sets for each of her 11 studio albums.

The Memorial presented by Workday

Muirfield village golf club.

How to Watch

2024 Memorial Tournament tee times, TV coverage, viewer's guide

1258711538

The tournament that Jack built has stacked field once again this year, as nine of the top 10 players in the world are set to compete in the 2024 Memorial at Jack Nicklaus' Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. That includes Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy, Wyndham Clark, Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Åberg, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay and Max Homa. The only one missing? Robert MacIntyre, last week's winner at the RBC Canadian Open, who returned to Scotland to celebrate his maiden PGA Tour win with friends and family ahead of next week's U.S. Open. We'll called it an excused absence.

Players have long made the Memorial a regular stop on their tour schedules, often out of respect for Nicklaus, but tournament's designation as a PGA Tour signature event has made the tournament even more of a must-make affair. This week's winner will earn $4 million from the $20 million overall prize money payout, as well as 700 FedEx Cup points. This is also the last chance for anyone not in the field at next week's U.S. Open to move inside the top 60 in the Official World Golf Ranking and secure an 11th-hour exemption for Pinehurst No. 2, plus one more opportunity to tune-up your game if your already have travel plans to North Carolina.

Hovland, last year's Memorial victor, made a 30-foot birdie putt on the penultimate hole to force a playoff with Denny McCarthy. A par on the first extra hole was just enough to best McCarthy. It also sparked an impressive summer run that saw Hovland win the BMW Championship and the Tour Championship to claim the 2023 FedEx Cup title. The last player to successful defend his title at the Memorial was Tiger Woods in 2001-02.

Jack Nicklaus Doesn't Love the Memorial Tournament's New Spot on the PGA Tour Calendar

Bob harig | jun 4, 2024.

Jack Nicklaus's Memorial Tournament is usually played right after Memorial Day weekend.

DUBLIN, Ohio — Jack Nicklaus wanted to do right by the PGA Tour. So he went along with the plan to move his Memorial Tournament to the week before the U.S. Open, even if it was something he would prefer not to do.

Now in its 49th year, Nicklaus’s tournament that was first played at Muirfield Village Golf Club in 1976 has traditionally—but not always—been played two weeks prior to the U.S. Open and in the week following Memorial Day.

The PGA Tour sought to move it as part of its signature event series. And Nicklaus said it’s a matter that will continue to be discussed.

“We would prefer the other week,” Nicklaus said Tuesday during a news conference in advance of the tournament. “However, we are here this week because the Tour asked us to help them out. They said they had a thing they wanted to do and that the players had asked for and that would we help it out, and we said yes, that we would do that this week.

“But we said we would review it after this tournament and we'll figure out how we're going to settle the schedule after that, and I said that discussion is under way.”

The Memorial is one of eight $20 million signature events the Tour put in place for this year with a qualification process that sees preceding events as one of the ways to get a spot in the smaller fields.

The Charles Schwab Challenge and the RBC Canadian Open kept a separate FedEx Cup points list for the top five players not otherwise qualified to earn their way into the Memorial field.

The idea, also, was to not leave regular events “stranded” between two signature events or a major championship. The Travelers Championship, the last signature event of the year, will follow the U.S. Open.

Nicklaus, 84, said that presented a problem for him personally. The Golden Bear, who won 18 major championships among his 73 PGA Tour titles, always preferred an off week prior to a major.

“Let's put it this way. When I played, I would rarely play a week before any major championship,” Nicklaus said. “So I'm asked to be part of putting on a golf tournament in a week that I would never play. That, to me, is the essential part from my standpoint.”

Although the Memorial name is used to signify honoring a player in the game—this year it is LPGA and World Golf Hall of Famer Juli Inkster—Nicklaus said that date has often been tied to the holiday as well.

“Yesterday, was normally a very big day gallery-wise for us because it was Memorial Day, and we had maybe a thousand people here yesterday,” he said. “From the sponsor's standpoint, I think that they get into board meetings and kids' graduations and so forth, so that's maybe not as advantageous.

“But that won't make any difference. We're going to have a good tournament this week either way, in spite of all the different things. And as I say, we did that as a favor and the Tour asked us to do that, and we said yes. So we've always been a supporter of the Tour. We want to try to continue to support what is best for the Tour, but we also want to support what's best for the Memorial Tournament. So that is to be determined.”

The Tour has said it will take this summer to review the signature events. Scheduling will be studied as well as field sizes. The original intent was to have fields capped at 80 players, which has happened only at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Most have been in the low 70s and could be filled out.

How a change to accommodate proper qualification as well as not leaving tournaments alone on the calendar would also have to be considered.
