This September, you can step inside Zionsville’s newest modern marvel. The 2023 Indianapolis Monthly Dream Home showcases the hottest trends in custom residential building and design.

Built by Brad Bowman of  Homes by Design , with interior design by Jennifer O’Connor of Dare 2 Design and architectural design by Steve Goldberg of Goldberg Design Group , the 2023 Dream Home allows visitors the opportunity to tour a custom designed residence with picturesque views and luxurious furnishings, finishes, and amenities. Located in an upscale Zionsville community, the house is open to the public during select weekends in September.

This ‘Fixer Upper’ House Looks Totally Different From When It Was on TV

On some HGTV shows, like “Home Town” and “Fixer Upper,” the celebrity renovators show their clients a few potential home options before fixing up the one they buy. But do you ever wonder what happens to the houses that people don’t pick?

This four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom home in Waco, TX, was rejected on Season 1 of “Fixer Upper.” In the episode, Chip and Joanna Gaines show this house to their carpenter, Clint Harp , but he and his wife, Kelly , pass it up in favor of a different property . Meanwhile, this 1915 house found a different buyer and was renovated.

When it appeared on the show, this house had an unfortunate exterior, looking run down with purple trim. It also had a dated kitchen and one fewer bathroom. Still, Joanna called it a “cute” house.

And now, after a beautiful renovation, this house for $375,000 looks better than ever. Keep scrolling to see inside this little piece of “Fixer Upper” history.

While touring the house on the 2014 “Fixer Upper” episode, Kelly said she’d like to change the exterior purple trim. Apparently, the new owners had the same idea, painting the trim black, which gives the home a clean, modern look.

The owners also carried this look inside, giving the brown trim and door frames a new coat of black paint. In addition, they replaced the original dark wood flooring with a lighter wood tone.

These few updates help this home give a good first impression.

This home is beautiful, but it also seems very livable. Right off the entry, there’s a living room with large windows and a wood-burning fireplace. The kitchen has come a long way from the dated space shown on the HGTV show. It’s been redone from top to bottom, with new cabinets, floors, and an island.

Of course, this house wasn’t renovated on the show but this kitchen certainly seems like a Joanna-inspired design, with a chic black-and-white color palette and a farmhouse style.

Right off the kitchen is a large dining space, and just beyond that, a laundry room with built-in storage.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are just as beautiful as the living spaces, with big windows, new flooring, and a continuation of the black-and-white theme.

Connected to two guest rooms, the Jack-and-Jill bathroom is especially beautiful with patterned floor tile and large-scale shower tile—but it didn’t start that way. On the “Fixer Upper” episode, this space was dated, with a blue bathtub, purple walls, and an old vanity. Joanna called the space “funky.”

‘Little House on the Prairie’ cast members celebrate 50th anniversary of show’s debut with tour

PEPIN, Wis. (WKBT) - It’s been 50 years since “Little House on the Prairie” debuted on TV.

Some of the cast members were in Wisconsin, where the show was set, celebrating that anniversary.

When “Little House on the Prairie” debuted in 1974, starring the late Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert, Wendy Lou Lee, who played Grace Ingalls, said she never imagined the show’s legacy would continue decades later.

“I don’t think anyone thought that would happen, but Michael Landon, he predicted it that this would be here way longer than all of us would be here,” Lee said.

Friday kicked off Part 2 of the show’s 50th anniversary tour, highlighting the place author Laura Ingalls Wilder once called home.

“It started here. The story starts here, so that’s the whole thing. We wanted to pay tribute to the place where she was born and the Little House in the Big Woods book was written all about her time here in Pepin,” tour member Jackson Bishop said.

Cast members Jennifer Donati and Lee say the best part of it is now.

“We get to travel together at least once or twice a month and it’s really incredible. We do get to see Melissa Gilbert once in a while, but not that often,” Lee said.

For Pamela Roylance, who played Sarah Reed Carter, being on the show was a full-circle moment.

“I read the books when I was about 9 years old, and I loved the books. And I always wanted to be on the show. When I got on the show, it was a dream come true,” she said.

The actresses were asked what they thought Landon and Laura Ingalls Wilder would say.

“I’m sure Laura would be floored. I don’t think she could have even imagined all of this,” Donati said.

“And I think Michael Landon is smiling from heaven saying, wow, the work we did, and I’m gonna get emotional,” Lee said.

The celebration continued all weekend as fans came and met the participants.
