ATLANTA (August 16, 2022) – Said to be "a revue-style, all-killer-no-filler procession of R&B and hip-hop acts that came to prominence around the turn of the millennium," by Keith Spera of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, G2 Presents The Millennium Tour:  Turned Up!, presented by G-Squared Events and The Black Promoters Collective (BPC)  is back with headliners Mario, who proved he is still one to watch with this year's Verzuz, Bow Wow, a mainstay and crowd favorite, and R&B starlet Kerri Hilson performing in 24 cities, including shows in Hampton, VA, Oakland, CA and the award-winning State Farm Arena on Nov. 6.

The highly coveted brand must-see tour dates will include performances by Lloyd, Pleasure P, Bobby V, Sammie, Ying Yang Twins, Dem Franchize Boyz, Crime Mob, Travis Porter, Lil Scrappy, Trillville, Chingy, and the reunion of Day 26.

Before offering to the general public, The Millennium Tour tickets go on presale with The American Express® Card Members beginning Tuesday, August 16 at 10 am local time through Thursday, August 18 at 10 pm local time.  G-Squared & BPC's presale starts on Thursday, August 18, from 10 am to 10 pm local time.  Tickets will be available to the general public on Friday, August 19 at 10 am local and range from $59.50 to $169.50 and may vary by city.  Tickets can be purchased here .

About Bow Wow

Multi-platinum and award-winning recording artist Bow Wow started his career at 13-years of age and instantly became a heartthrob and super star.  His debut single, “Bounce With Me” was released in the summer of 2000 and appeared on the soundtrack to the Martin Lawrence film Big Momma’s House.  He went on to become a huge star in Hollywood with appearances that include Johnson Family Vacation, Roll Bounce, the highly successful The Fast and The Furious franchise and more. 

About Mario

Mario, Keri Hilson and Bow Wow Announce ‘Millennium Tour: Turned Up’ Dates

The  Millennium Tour  continues to evolve. Mario, Keri Hilson and Bow Wow are at the top of the bill for the  Millennium Tour: Turned Up , announced today (Aug. 12). 

Powered by G-Squared Events ,  Millennium Tour: Turned Up  will also include a special reunion of R&B group Day26, plus Lloyd, Pleasure P , Bobby V, and Sammie. The latter four acts were on the previous  Millennium Tour , as well as Mario and Bow Wow.

It won’t be a full night of R&B, though. The tour will also feature performances by rap acts Ying Yang Twins, Chingy, Dem Franchize Boyz, Lil Scrappy, Travis Porter, Crime Mob and Trillville.

The 24-city tour kicks off Oct. 7 at Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia at Hampton Coliseum. From there, the crew will travel across the U.S., playing in major cities such as Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, Dallas, Memphis and Miami.

The tour will conclude Nov. 27 at Oakland Arena in Oakland, California. 

Tickets will be available for presale beginning Thursday, Aug. 18, at 10 a.m. local time. Tickets will go on sale to the general public Friday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. local time. All tickets can be purchased at gsquaredevents.com .

Circling back to Day26, the group recently announced their reunion and plans to celebrate their 15th anniversary with new music.

On Aug. 26, they will perform a special virtual concert with all five original members.

While Day26 is reuniting, another is formalizing. Ray J, Sammie, Bobby V and Pleasure P recently announced their new group RSVP , following their bonus match during Mario and Omarion’s Verzuz battle.

Although Ray J isn’t included in the Millennium Tour: Turned Up , it wouldn’t be a surprise if the other three members preview new music.

Millennium Tour plays State Farm Arena Nov. 6

ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) - The Millennium Tour, headlined by Bow Wow and Mario, will stop at the State Farm Arena Nov. 6. The tour features a murderer’s row of 2000s R&B and hip-hop favorites, including Keri Hilson, Ying Yang Twins and the reunion of Day26. Those artists will be joined by several others for what should prove to be a fun and nostalgic night; Bow Wow’s Verzuz appearance proves he’s still got it, too.

The pre-sale began Aug. 16. The tickets go on sale to the general public Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. Tickets start at about $60.

Bow Wow will headline the latest edition of the concert series, dubbed “The Millennium Tour: Turned Up!” The star-studded lineup also includes Mario, Keri Hilson, Lloyd, Pleasure P, Bobby V, Chingy, Lil Scrappy, Dem Franchize Boyz, Crime Mob, and Travis Porter, plus the recently reunited Day26.

The 24-date trek kicks off Oct. 7 in Hampton, Virginia and travels to arenas across the U.S., with stops in Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, wrapping Nov. 27 in Oakland.

This is the first “Millennium Tour” that doesn’t feature Omarion. He headlined alongside B2K in 2019 and with Bow Wow in 2020. The 2020 edition was postponed due to the pandemic and resumed in October 2021 with supporting acts including Ashanti, Soulja Boy, and Sammie.

A pre-sale begins Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. before tickets go on sale to the public on Aug. 19 at 10 a.m.

Bow Wow took to Instagram to announce the lineup for The Millennium Tour: Turn Up, which includes Mario, Keri Hilson, Lloyd, Crime Mob, and more.

Bow Wow has announced another Millennium Tour .

The rapper took to Instagram on Friday to reveal that Mario will be joining him on the next stint. “The Millennium Tour: Turned Up starring Bow Wow With R&B sensation Mario,” Bow Wow wrote.

He also shared that the tour lineup includes Keri Hilson, Lloyd, Pleasure P, Bobby V , Day 26, Ying Yang Twins, Dem Franchize Boyz, Crime Mob, Sammie, Chingy, Travis Porter, Lil Scrappy, and Trillville, among others.

It was just last October that Bow Wow said he’d “ had enough ” of The Millennium Tour that he was on back then, which featured Omarion as a co-headliner. 

“Too much bitching and complaining on this tour,” Bow tweeted. “Im bussn cats asses every night! Every night they try and complain and take something away from me! I give 1000% and yall know it! ATL I hope yall show together! Ima buss yall ass for 45 mins straight! Try me!”

He also complained about only getting to perform for 15 minutes on tour, when his tour mates got longer sets, and that 15 minutes isn’t enough time for him to play his “full songs.”

“This might be my last show,” Bow wrote, saying that the only way he’d continue is if he gets 45 minutes on stage. “I’ve had enough.”

Mario may have referred to the Omarion -toplined edition of the ‘Millennium Tour’ as “raggedy sh*t” during their VERZUZ battle in June, but it appears the GRAMMY-nominated singer has had a change of heart as he’s listed as one of the headliners for the forthcoming iternation of the highly anticipated North American jaunt.

Once again led by Bow Wow , the trek calls on some of the early 2000’s most popular Urban movers and shakers to unite for a night of nostalgic hits.

Having previously wowed crowds across the United States with a lineup that’s featured the likes of Ashanti, Pretty Ricky, Lloyd, Bobby V, Ying Yang Twins, Chingy , and more, this time new faces like Hilson and Day26 are being brought into the mix.

Taking to Instagram Friday ( August 12 ), Bow stunned his 4.7 million followers with the announcement he’s assembling Mario, Hilson, Day26, Lloyd, Pleasure P , Chingy, Lil Scrappy, Bobby V, Dem Franchize Boyz, Crime Mob, and Travis Porter for the newest version of the tour dubbed “The Millennium Tour: Turned Up!”   This will be the first ‘Millennium Tour’ to not feature Omarion.

Kicking off October 7 at Hampton, Virginia’s Hampton Coliseum, the 24-date trek will venture to major North American cities like Detroit, Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, New York City, and more before wrapping up in Oakland on November 27 .

There was a distinct high that cocooned the first Millennium Tour in 2019. It was a moment for girls-turned-women to travel back to a time when they were screaming teenagers who collected Word Up! posters. The boys we once fawned over had reminded us that they were grown men now, that time was simply a social construct. For all intents and purposes, a perfectly frozen moment in time was thawed out right when we needed.

Usher Bringing 20th Anniversary Performance Of 'Confessions' To 2024 ESSENCE Fest

Despite Day26’s long-awaited reunion being filled with minor technical difficulties, the quintet powered through like the professionals they were molded to be. Their brief set prompted two questions though: when is their next Bryan-Michael Cox-produced album coming and why isn’t Making The Band available to stream? In hindsight, some parts of the concert should’ve been cut to make room for them to have a longer set.

The “Tell Me” crooner channeled his combative Verzuz energy as he declared, “n****s told me I couldn’t sing,” while finishing an acoustic run of “Turn The Page.” He was also the first act of the night to include background dancers, jumping off the stage platform as “Pimpin’ All Over The World” blared throughout the arena. To say he was doing a lot is an understatement. He ended his set with a mic drop after proclaiming, “‘ Verzuz ’ ain’t over. N****s can’t f**k with me.”

With similar exuberance, his RSVP bandmate Pleasure P used a movie trailer to usher in his set. Rocking a red fur coat, black leather pants, and a new blonde look before diving into his solo records, the Miami-bred singer branded himself the new “bad boy of R&B” with co-signs from Keith Sweat and Teddy Riley. The first surprise guest of the show was his brother, Spectacular, who aided him in performing their Pretty Ricky records “Grind With Me,” “Your Body,” and “On The Hotline.”

After thrusting the air and breaking out into a glisten, RSVP— Ray J , Sammie, Bobby V, and Pleasure P—recreated the “One Wish” viral moment from Verzuz before announcing their debut single , “Money Everywhere.” Their album’s release date was not announced.

Despite the brief escapism experienced with Thicke’s cooing of “Lost Without You,” the turn-up continued with the South taking over for the ‘99 and the 2000s. The Travis Porter -Crime Mob portion of the evening was evocative, transforming the room into a HBCU Homecoming afterparty. Between twerking in the aisles and all of us rapping along to “Knuck If You Buck” live as though it was a Sunday service, this is community personified. A personal apex was the present and the past coming together as Trillville performed “Some Cut” as their dancers hit Victoria Monét ’s viral choreography.

Later, Lil Jon popped up for a few songs while the Ying Yang Twins dedicated their set to “ the spirit of Takeoff. ” By the end of their set, the high energy declined at lightning speed. It seemed that many people tuned out Keri Hilson and Mario,  who are mostly known for their ballads. Even Mario’s featured guests Ty Dolla $ign and O.T. Genasis couldn’t reignite the show’s spark.

Bow Wow, the night’s main headliner, did his best to hype the crowd up with fan-favorites. His unfiltered 2005 diss track, “Fresh Azimiz,” was the perfect way to crank things back up. Dem Franchize Boyz—Parlae and Pimpin’—took centerstage to join Bow for a lively rendition of their collab, “I Think They Like Me (Remix)” sans Da Brat. The now-duo then performed their hit single, “Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It.” As the child prodigy took us on a ride with timeless gems like “Take Ya Home” and “Bounce With Me” before his daughter, Shai in lieu of Ciara, appeared for “Like You.” It may have been inching towards the end, but the rap phenom kept his set confined to the strict midnight deadline.

Despite Bow alluding to a potential Millennium Tour IV in 2023, the concert series either needs to end or change—no in-between. There are so many artists to be called upon for a tour that celebrates the 2000s. Both Chris Brown and Ne-Yo can have full sets based on their debut albums alone. Call upon Ginuwine, Donnell Jones, Mýa, or Monica. The era of the heartthrob may be dormant with current acts, but it’s clear authoritative veterans can still sell out shows.

Another idea might be is to hone in on quality over quantity by having less acts on the bill. Nonetheless, this tour needs to grow up—its fans already have.

Chelsea’s actions undermine their talk – why would an emerging coach want to join them?

When Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly introduced Graham Potter as the club’s head coach back in September 2022, he spoke of “looking forward to supporting him and his coaching team in realising their full potential over the coming months and years”.

Potter’s experience, as well as that of Mauricio Pochettino — who left Chelsea by mutual consent on Tuesday after just one season — did not need Boehly’s last two words.

Boehly and Clearlake Capital assumed ownership two years ago this month and are already looking for a fourth permanent manager. This is a culture that predates their arrival but which has not ended under their watch.

Just as marriages end in one of two ways — divorce or death — all managerial spells end in either resignation or the sack. Credit, however, can still be drawn. But since Jose Mourinho’s first spell in charge ended back in 2007, how many coaches have emerged from Stamford Bridge with their reputations enhanced?

Thomas Tuchel, probably, after leading Chelsea to a Champions League victory in 2021, and steering the club to third place despite the turmoil of Roman Abramovich’s final months in charge. Fellow Champions League-winning manager Roberto Di Matteo arguably fits — despite his league struggles in the autumn after that Munich final — while it is worth having a debate on Premier League -winning Carlo Ancelotti. In all three cases, the speed of their removals so soon after trophy success raises their own red flags.

Apart from that? Not a single example across 15 names. Imagining a reconsideration of Pochettino’s career in two decades’ time, his managerial pathway pulled up on Wikipedia, the sense is that this Chelsea season will be a purgatorial nothingness in the reckoning. Neither an enhancer nor a diminisher.

“Sure, he didn’t shine,” you can imagine yourself saying, opening up the webpage’s code to edit in an asterisk. “But it was that Chelsea.”

In Pochettino’s stead, Chelsea have resolved to appoint an emerging manager — Leicester City ’s Enzo Maresca and Ipswich Town ’s Kieran McKenna are two leading candidates . That profile makes sense from a footballing perspective, insomuch as Chelsea have lurched between super coach and #nextbigthing in an alternating pattern since the millennium.

But Chelsea’s actions have entrenched their reputation. In an era when the top coaches are more selective than ever, this is a club who risk rapidly alienating potential suitors.

Emerging managers, by their very nature, are not the finished product. They are generally early in their head coaching career, either in years or in their tactical evolution. They will make mistakes but also grow — and the hope is that the club will grow with them. At Chelsea, as much as the hierarchy will insist otherwise, the expectation is that the club will dispense with them before the seeds take root.

How long do you give a 'project manager'?

“I’ve given it everything it asked for — and it’s not shown anything yet!” one can imagine Chelsea’s ownership shouting at a Cobham flowerbed, having planted an acorn four months previously. “This fertiliser is s***!”

For these coaches, as is borne out in life, time is a more valuable resource than money. At this stage of their careers, the vast majority would trade parts of their transfer budget for job security — backing their ability to turn things around.

Mikel Arteta is the modern paradigm. In December 2020, he warned Arsenal supporters that a relegation fight loomed after taking five points from the previous 30 available. He was backed — and prospered.

Clubs, like individuals, effectively have credit ratings which players, coaches and agents view as a measure of long-term security — Arsenal’s fixedness will be remembered by contenders when it comes time to appoint Arteta’s successor. The only thing more vulnerable than Chelsea’s credit score is their PSR wiggle room.

These factors are all considerations for coaches, especially at a time when a vast array of top jobs have been made available. Manchester United , Liverpool , Chelsea, Barcelona , Bayern Munich and Juventus have all looked, are looking, or will look for a new manager this summer. At one level below, Brighton , West Ham and Ajax are all enticing prospects.

This means the best candidates can be choosy. Bayern Munich have been turned down by more managers in the last two months than they have been in their entire history: Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, Unai Emery, Ralf Rangnick and Oliver Glasner have all rejected their overtures. Burnley’s Vincent Kompany now looks likely to take over in Bavaria, a coach whose name might not have even featured on a long list at the start of the process.

If Bayern — a far more attractive prospect than Chelsea at this stage — are facing these difficulties, then just how gruelling could this summer be at Stamford Bridge?

If Chelsea want McKenna, for example, they face competition from Manchester United and Brighton, as well as him remaining at an Ipswich side he has built from the ground up. Chelsea’s squad is the most talented of those — and that is why the job may still prove enticing — but it still represents the biggest threat to a coach’s long-term reputation.

There are other factors: practical and contractual.

Chelsea were stung by their decision to give Potter a five-year contract in 2022, but subsequently alienated Pochettino by only sanctioning an initial two-year deal. When it comes to handing their chosen target an offer, they have P45-ed themselves into an awkward position.

Incoming coaches may also feel previous managers have used up the transfer kitty over the last four windows, with limited scope to build the squad in their image. After over £1.2bn ($1.5bn) of spending, the sense is that, despite advertising for an emerging manager, Chelsea also need a manager ready to win now, an essential dissonance at the heart of the recruitment process. If Pochettino had stayed, taking that next step into the top four — they were only five points shy of Aston Villa in the end — felt a natural evolution. Now it feels like a significant jump.

Chelsea’s structure is filled with individuals who have been highly rated at their previous clubs but who are plugged into a hierarchy that is more complicated than a Gabriel Garcia Marquez family tree.

In his final months at Chelsea, Pochettino spoke of his lack of power in certain areas, while also feeling he was one of the few experienced operators in the building. This take should be tempered as Pochettino’s opinion, rather than objective reality, but it is still a concerning environment into which a bushy-tailed young coach would be walking.

Patience is a trait that cannot be talked about; only acted on. For any sales pitch, there is a lived reality which underpins the landscape of this job.
