' src=

As we discuss the most haunted places in Hyderabad, this ancient city that wears its history like a jeweled cloak harbors secrets far darker than its bustling markets and fragrant biryani . Brace yourself as we step into the enigmatic haunts of Hyderabad, where restless spirits whisper forgotten tales and inexplicable phenomena dance in the moonlight.

most haunted places in hyderabad

1. Shamshabad Airport – Where Departed Souls Linger

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, nestled near Shamshabad, is more than a gateway for travelers—it’s a portal to the unknown. Beneath its sleek runways lie the remnants of a tumultuous past, a past woven with disputes, tragedies, and unmarked graves. The spirits of those who met untimely ends still roam these corridors, their ethereal footprints etched in the very air we breathe.

Imagine being summoned to an inquiry room, only to find a man with a head that defies the laws of anatomy – a head that turns a full 360 degrees. Or the Qatar Airways pilot who swears he saw a spectral lady in a white saree pirouetting on the runway, her eyes reflecting the moon’s melancholy glow. Despite exhaustive searches, no trace of her existence was found. Shamshabad Airport remains a place where the veil between realms grows thin and the living brush against the departed.

2. Banjara Hills – Whispers Among the Trees

Banjara Hills, once a wild expanse of hilly forests, now wears the mask of urbanity. But beneath the high-rises and luxury boutiques, there’s a secret—a graveyard on Road Number 12. Here, the Nizam’s hunters once roamed, seeking elusive prey. Today, the prey seeks them—the unseen, the inexplicable, and the restless.

Inhabitants speak of whispers carried by the night wind—words in a language long forgotten. Shadows flit across moonlit paths, and the air grows thick with anticipation. The graveyard’s reputation as one of the most haunted places in Hyderabad has transcended generations, and even skeptics tread lightly here.

3. Golkonda Fort – Echoes of Warriors Past

Golkonda Fort’s ramparts, weathered by centuries, guard more than just historical artifacts. Visitors report hearing voices—faint, distant, and laden with sorrow. Is it the echo of a warrior’s battle cry or the lament of a love lost in time? The fort’s stones hold secrets, and its walls harbor memories that refuse to fade.

6.  Ravindra Nagar – Wrath of Gods

Ravindra Nagar, a quiet neighborhood, conceals a dark secret. Residents have witnessed inexplicable phenomena – objects moving on their own, strange shadows, and sudden temperature drops. Is it the wrath of ancient deities or mere coincidence?

Ramoji Fiml City

Hyderabad, a city of Nizams which is best known for the traditional and tastiest dum biryani has a lot for everyone visiting or staying into this city. People are amazing, the locations are cool and the food is mind-blowing. The city might not be a first choice haunted spot, but there are a few places which are believed to be haunted. This is a post compiling a some of the haunted places in Hyderabad.

1. Ramoji Film City

Ramoji Film City, owned by the Ramoji group and located in Anajpur village, Hayathnagar Mandal in Hyderabad is one of the largest film cities all over the world and that is one of the reasons this place remains in news most of the times. It is spread over an area of 1666 acres which certainly beats most of the other film cities in India and the world.

Inside the campus, one can find everything needed, from amusement parks to film sets, banquets and hotels. The whole place is built on the land which was used as a war spot by the Nizams, so technically, there were thousands of soldiers and other people dies on the land where Ramoji Film City is located. That is one of the obvious things for the people to believe that the place is haunted.

There have not been some serious cases and causalities to prove this place as haunted, however, there are numerous incidents where the lights came down, light-men were injured, justifying their statement by saying that were wither pulled or pushed from behind. Numerous people staying in the hotel have felt someone knocking the bathroom door from inside even when it was locked from outside, there have been strange messages written in Urdu found on the mirrors etc. Along with that, there have been countless incidents where torn clothes and menacing shadows were seen in the changing rooms. The things have not been too harmful, however, they can not be ignored.

2. Kundanbhag Haunted House

In a bungalow located in one of the most posh areas of Hyderabad, a news attracted everyone’s attention when 3 dead bodies were found in the bedroom which were lying there since over 6 months.

In a shocking response to the incident, the neighbors said that the house was perfectly normal and the lady and her daughters were seen walking in the corridors many times in the recent days. The house was calm and the 3 people staying inside never used to talk to anyone from the neighborhood. Some even claimed that the house members used to drive the car every day morning to a dustbin placed a few meters away from home, they believed everything was normal till the day a robber sneaked into the house and found the dead bodies lying in the bedroom, he informed the police and the postmortem report confirmed that the bodies had been lying in the bed room for at least a few months.

Since that day, no one has entered that house and the building is facing threats of demolition if no one comes ahead to claim the property. It is believed that the husband of the lady left house before a couple of years complaining that be behavior of the lady and her daughters was strange. The place has not been occupied since that time, so there are no casualties and other such cases, but the one which took place back in 2003 still has the memories fresh for the neighbors.

The city of Hyderabad has a lot more places where people have experienced some paranormal activities, but they are not so significant to be in the list here. We are consistently looking into more options and will update this list when we get any. As per reports, the Kundanbagh haunted house story goes something like this: once upon a time, it was inhabited by a woman and her two daughters who were quite intriguingly seen holding candles and walking through the house's corridors in the dark. They reportedly had a bottle full of blood hung at the house's entrance. While the other residents kept away from them, a thief who broke into the house found their bodies in a highly decomposed state inside the house. Residents attributed the suicides to the presence of a ghost, starting all night vigils to protect their houses. Around half a dozen families living in the area abandoned the place out of fear, leaving the houses in a hurry. The news of the supposed "ghost" also made it to the headlines of some leading daily newspapers. A lot of religious symbols can still be seen painted on the houses, luring quite a few people interested in ghost stories. Golkonda Fort Apart from its fame as one of the biggest forts in India, Golkonda Fort is quite famous for the horror stories attached to it. Ruled by various dynasties over centuries, it is believed to be haunted by the spirits of soldiers and Taramati, a famed dancer and singer, who is hailed as one of the most famous courtesans of the Qutub Shah dynasty. People have reported watching a shadow dancing in the fort complex as well as instances of utensils being hurled at them or sudden, sharp cries of pain coming out of nowhere. Visitors are not allowed to loiter about in the fort complex when darkness creeps in. Add the Begumpet Haunted house to this list of haunted places in Hyderabad and you will have plenty of shadows to chase. Explore one or all of these at your own discretion for it is advised to stay away from these after dark.

Horror Tales of Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad

It is one of the biggest film cities in India. Not only does it attract tourists for its extravagant sets and displays but also drives away quite a lot of them because of their horror encounters. Apart from being the largest studio complex in the world, it has numerous options for stay and lets say that these spirits have got all grounds covered.

What is the story behind it? The entire film city is apparently built on the Nizams battle field. And the spirits wandering around are of the soldiers who died in the battle field. So something built over the remains of dead soldiers and those restless souls haunting the people coming in? Sounds made up? But, these encounters say otherwise.

The witnesses report that the lights go off randomly, lightmen fall off from great heights under unexplained circumstances leading to serious injuries, equipment being destroyed regularly and crew members feeling a sudden push even though nobody is around. These spirits reportedly are in favor of women. Many actresses claim to have felt something supernatural in their green rooms, and have reported an invisible force ripping apart clothes.

The people in accommodation at their hotel rooms have something else to tell. They reported to have seen unusual Urdu scribblings on mirrors, their food half eaten when kept for a long time and even doors getting locked on its own. Whispers and strange voices are some common instances reported at the studio.
