You Am I to Close Out 2023 with Extensive National Tour

By Emmy Mack

You Am I are ringing in the silly season with a mammoth Aussie regional tour, hitting sixteen locations across the nation this November and December.

Under the banner of THE YOU’S PULL UP THEIR TROOS  tour, the beloved Aussie rock act’s 2023 run will take them to regional and outer suburban locales such as Torquay, Archies Creek and Woy Woy along with all the capital cities.

You Am I – ‘The Waterboy’

“Hey punk, we put on our troos one leg at a time just like any dandies, but after we do we know what we’re s’posed to Dü, and that’s make a motherlovin racket,” frontman Tim Rogers said in a press statement.

“After playing songs by the Who-men and before Tapping into the East Coast with Them Darknesses we are hoping to finish writing a new LP whilst playing a lotta toons we haven’t in yonks on the Troos Tour. Bunch from #4 ? Why the frug not. Dress Me ? Hell yes. Picking through the catalogue like 3am Discogging or 4am eBaying for Welcome Back Kotter merch. Dress Slowly and irresponsibly, let us deliver the cream and the crock. Land Ho!”

If you need that translated, Rogers is referring to the fact that You Am I will also be supporting UK rockers The Darkness on their 2024 Australian East Coast tour , while also casually mentioning that the band have got a new album on the way.

As for the headline tour setlist, fans can expect a range of material from You Am I’s early EPs and albums, right up to 2021’s critically acclaimed long player,  The Lives of Others .

You Am I will visit fans in Torquay, Archies Creek, Melbourne, Newcastle, the Central Coast, Avalon, Dunsborough, Bunbury, Fremantle, Cleveland, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Caloundra, Canberra, Albury and Wollongong as part of their 2023 national headline run.

LIVE REVIEW: YOU AM I – The You’s Pull Up Their Troos Tour

Freo.social , fremantle, wa - 25th november 2023.

27 November 2023 The Rockpit

you am i tour

You Am I managed to hit the west coast of Australia during possibly the hottest November on record pushing out three shows in three days. It was a hot and heavy show at Freo Social last Saturday as the boys gave a full house of loyal followers the rock’n’roll treatment.

you am i tour

Fans filled the pit well in advance, preparing for the shenanigans that lay ahead. Tim Rogers led the charge with a taste of colourful Aussie rock. Andy Kent, Russell Hopkinson and Davey Lane fleshing out all parts of the stage and bringing their well-loved catalogue of hits to life.

you am i tour

The energy transfer from the crowd to the stage was felt around the room as fans sang along to their favourite songs and Davey Lane filled any gaps with his guitar mastery. The 40-degree weather had absolutely knocked the wind out of our sails, but in true You Am I style, they managed to lift the vibe and the temperature, and ripped through their set list to the delight of the crowd.

You Am I Announce Capital City/Regional Tour Dates To Close Out The Year

YOU AM I, the beloved Australian rock band with enough awards, stats, runs on the board, and shows under their belt to enter legend status, have announced a range of live dates nationally this November and December on THE YOU’S PULL UP THEIR TROOS TOUR – an enticing opener to the silly season!

After a quiet year for the band, and with some cities having not seen a  You Am  I headline show for over 3 years, these dates are well overdue and will be highly anticipated. Expect a range of material from the early EPs and albums, right up to 2021’s critically acclaimed long player,  The Lives of Others .

Tim Rogers has shared an insight into the shows, saying today, “Hey punk, we put on our troos one leg at a time just like any dandies, but after we do we know what we’re s’posed to Dü, and that’s make a motherlovin racket. After playing songs by the Who-men and before Tapping into the East Coast with Them Darknesses we are hoping to finish writing a new LP whilst playing a lotta toons we haven’t in yonks on the Troos Tour. STAY TUNED FOR SHOW INFO

More than 30 years into their career, You Am I have delivered one of their best records to date with album #11 … Maybe it’s the sense of resilience that flows through the songs, or maybe it’s the lack of external pressures that helps the record shine, but the songs feature some of the finest lyrics ever penned by Rodgers, some of the strongest guitar work, and feature the group’s rhythm section in their most powerful form to date.

4 Stars Tyler Jenke, Rolling Stone

As with all the best You Am I records, this one succeeds first as a spontaneous series of catchy triumphs before lingering on a subtler level thanks to distinctive lyrical and musical nuances that couldn’t have come from any other band.

4 Stars Doug Wallen, The Australian

On their 11th studio album, The Lives Of Others, the ’90s legends manage the fine balancing act of delivering everything You Am I fans love – crunching guitars, ’60s – inspired melodies and Rogers’ visual wordplay – combined with minor deviations in style … The question to be posed is whether The Lives Of Others is the best YAI album since their glory days? The answer – it could well be.

Joshua Leeson, Newcastle Herald

This album is top-shelf You Am I, worthy of a spot alongside Hi Fi Way, Hourly Dailyand #4 Record – the mid-90’s trilogy that made them the first Australian band to score three consecutive ARIA No. 1 albums.

Simon Collins, The West Australian

You Am I Announce National Tour Performing The Who’s ‘Tommy’ with Guests Hayley Mary & Sarah McLeod

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

You Am I will circle the country playing The Who’s iconic rock opera record Tommy later this year. The tour will get under way in Caloundra in Queensland on Wednesday, 26 July, before moving through regional centres and capital cities, finishing up at the Astor Theatre in Perth on Friday, 18th August.

Tim Rogers and co. won’t be going it alone either: they’ll be joined on tour by The Jezabels’ frontwoman and now solo artist Hayley Mary , and songwriter-guitarist Sarah McLeod . Check out all the dates and details below.

The Who: ‘Pinball Wizard’

A rock opera largely composed by guitarist Pete Townshend, The Who’s Tommy is one of the most acclaimed rock albums of all time. Released in 1969, it follows the story of Tommy Walker, who endures a life of struggle and abuse that begins with him seeing the murder of his father. In the early ’90s the album was adapted into a Broadway musical by Townshend.

“ A preposterous proposition of pomp power n pithiness to be performed by our pop group with pals,” Tim Rogers said of the upcoming tour. “We promise to plunder deep and perform in full plumage with no panache, just passions. Prost!”

“ Tommy is like A Clockwork Orange meets Almost Famous in album form,” Hayley Mary shared in a statement. “A dark eccentric and cutting critique of fatherlessness and fame and that rings truer now than ever. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the disturbing themes and help bring some of these colourful characters to life across the country.”

You Am I, Mary, and McLeod will perform the album in full, as well as some other select tracks from across The Who’s catalogue. Tim Rogers is also gearing up to tour with The Hard-Ons for their upcoming album, Ripper ’23.

Jennifer Lopez Cancels Tour to Spend Time with Her Family and Friends: 'I Am Completely Heartsick'

"I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again," the 'Atlas' star wrote to fans on her website

you am i tour

Elizabeth Leonard is Managing Executive Editor and West Coast Bureau Chief for PEOPLE, where she's worked in leadership positions across the brand's entertainment and human interest verticals for 25 years.

Jennifer Lopez 's summer tour is no longer happening.

On Friday, May 31, Live Nation announced that the singer's This Is Me... Live is canceled because she is "taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends."

Lopez released a statement to her fans on her OntheJLo website and explained why it was a tough decision to make.

"I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary," Lopez, 54, wrote.

She continued, "I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…"

Tomas Herold/Getty

The tour was originally set to run from June to August, in support of her latest studio album This Is Me...Now , which dropped in February.

Fans who have already purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will automatically be refunded. For those who purchased through third-party resale sites, fans will need to reach out to the point of purchase for more details.

In addition to spending time with her close circle, Lopez is currently celebrating the release of her Netflix film Atlas , which hit the streaming service on May 24 and has already reached No. 1 in 55 countries.

This announcement comes on the heels of reported marital issues for Lopez and husband Ben Affleck . Though they were pictured together Thursday , the couple have been living separately in Los Angeles while  experiencing a strain in the marriage , sources have told PEOPLE. She's been busy preparing for the now-canceled tour and promoting  Atlas,  while Affleck has been filming for  The Accountant 2 . The two famously rekindled their relationship from the early 2000s in 2021 and  married in 2022 .

Earlier this month, Lopez posed in front of  Netflix’s billboard in Los Angeles extolling people to not mess with her .

Together, Netflix and Lopez released an Instagram clip that began with her riding inside a car.

“So a bunch of people were messaging me yesterday telling me about this billboard that Netflix put up for  Atlas ,” Lopez said in the reel. “So I want to go see it for myself.”

In a recent interview with PEOPLE , Lopez spoke about the similarities and differences between herself and the movie’s character.

"We are so different because she's like ... doesn't wear any of her emotions,” she said. “She's so closed off and I am too much emotion sometimes."

"But at the same time we are both very strong and sure of what they feel," continued Lopez. "At times. She was very sure. She was like, 'This is what's happening, please listen to me. Please tell me.' And felt very misunderstood at times. I can also relate to that a bit."

NEW YORK (AP) — Jennifer Lopez has canceled her 2024 North American tour, representatives for Live Nation confirmed to The Associated Press.

“Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends,” they said in a statement.

The tour was to be her first in five years, in support of her first solo album in a decade, “This Is Me... Now” and its companion film .

The tour was scheduled to kick off on June 26 in Orlando, Florida, and conclude in Houston on Aug. 31. Live Nation shared that attendees who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded.

Lopez offered her own statement to fans on her OntheJLo website and newsletter, writing, “I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary.”

She continued: “I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…”

“This Is Me... Now” was released early this year, 20 years after her hit album, “This Is Me... Then.” Lopez told the AP that the new album was a “miracle” and “a second chance. And I’d love to capture this moment in time the way that album captured that moment in time.”

Guitarist Robin Trower coming to MGM Northfield Park

Beloved British guitarist Robin Trower announced he had to cancel his upcoming U.S. tour due to poor health. MGM Northfied Park

Acclaimed progressive rock guitarist Robin Trower, who first gained notoriety with the band Procol Harum, announced that he is canceling his U.S. tour due to ongoing health issues.

Trower, 79, said in a post on Facebook , that he had to cancel the tour so he can get a medical procedure done.

“It is with great regret that I must inform you that I will be unable to fulfill the upcoming tour of the USA in September/October,” Trower wrote. “I have struggled with health issues for some time now. Following my latest stay in hospital a few weeks ago, my doctor advised me that the only possible way for an effective long-term solution is to undertake a major operation as soon as possible.

“I am currently awaiting confirmation of that date. I have also been advised that the recovery time to 100% full fitness could take a while. This makes committing to a fixed touring period in the near future impossible. I have struggled with this decision but realize I cannot continue touring at this time.

“I know that you will be as disappointed as I am, but I am very hopeful that this procedure will give me a new lease of life and I can return to doing what I love the most- playing live ASAP,” he said. “I look forward to catching up with you all as soon as I am able.”

Trower’s tour was scheduled to begin on Sept. 14 and include stops in Nashville, Chicago, Buffalo and Boston.

Trower was a member of Procol Harum from 1967-1971. He has released more than two dozen albums over the past 50 years according to Ultimate Classic Rock . His most recent album, “Joyful Sky,” was released in October of last year.

PGA TOUR winner Grayson Murray passes away at 30

PGA TOUR winner Grayson Murray passes away at 30

Change Text Size

Grayson Murray, who won his second PGA TOUR title at this year’s Sony Open in Hawaii, passed away Saturday.

"We were devastated to learn – and are heartbroken to share – that PGA TOUR player Grayson Murray passed away this morning. I am at a loss for words,” PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan said. “The PGA TOUR is a family, and when you lose a member of your family, you are never the same. We mourn Grayson and pray for comfort for his loved ones.

“I reached out to Grayson’s parents to offer our deepest condolences, and during that conversation, they asked that we continue with tournament play,” Commissioner Monahan continued. “They were adamant that Grayson would want us to do so. As difficult as it will be, we want to respect their wishes.”

Grief counselors were made available at the venues for this week’s PGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour events. Commissioner Monahan, who traveled from TOUR headquarters in Florida to the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, said he was "devastated" by the loss.

Grayson's parents, Eric and Terry Murray, said in a statement Sunday that the cause of death was suicide .

"Was Grayson loved? The answer is yes," his parents wrote. "By us, his brother Cameron, his sister Erica, all of his extended family, by his friends, by his fellow players and – it seems – by many of you who are reading this. He was loved and he will be missed."

Murray, 30, was a standout golfer from his youth. He won three consecutive Callaway Junior World Championships (2006-08) and was the top-ranked golfer in his age group. He made his first cut on the Korn Ferry Tour at age 16, becoming the second-youngest player ever to do so. After stints at Wake Forest University, East Carolina University and Arizona State University, he got the break he needed in 2016 when he was given a sponsor exemption into the Korn Ferry Tour event near his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina. He finished inside the top 10 at that event, the Rex Hospital Open, which qualified him for another start. When he posted another top 10 at the BMW Charity Pro-Am, his professional career took off. He concluded his season with a victory at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship to finish second on the Korn Ferry Tour money list and earn full status on the PGA TOUR for the 2016-17 season. The win came a week before his 23rd birthday.

Murray wasted little time establishing himself on golf’s biggest stage as a rookie. He won the 2017 Barbasol Championship while still just 23 years old. His final-round 68 not only secured a one-shot victory, but also solidified a two-year exemption through the 2019 PGA TOUR season. He finished 66th in the FedExCup and earned nearly $1.5 million.

Grayson struggled for the next few seasons on the PGA TOUR. In 2023, he found his game again on the Korn Ferry Tour; he notched two victories – the Advent Health Championship in Kansas City and the Simmons Bank Open outside of Nashville – to finish fourth on that tour’s points list and earn a spot back onto the PGA TOUR for the following season.

Murray opened the 2024 season with a playoff victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii. He made a clutch up and down on the 72nd hole for a birdie to force a playoff. Then he sank a 40-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole to defeat Byeong Hun An and Keegan Bradley. He reached a career-high 46th in the Official World Golf Ranking after that victory.
